[Q] Hanging at formatting /data [FIXED]

Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, P6200.
ROM: CM9.
Started with the device rebooting every time I tried to do nandroid backup when it got to backing up /data. I attempted to factory reset but then CWM (6.0.1.0) just hanged at formatting /data.
Then I attempted to do factory reset from the ROM (CM9). The device got stuck in a bootloop of trying to format /data and just hanging there. The device kept turning itself back on when turned off to go into this ridiculous loop.
Is my on-board sdcard fried or something? Anything I can do?
UPDATE: Fixed it, I hope. . . Ran f2sck from recovery on mmcblk0p10, needed three rounds before all the errors were gone. Then could successfully do factory reset and reinstall ROM. Restoring from backups now, hopefully nothing borks again,
try to get back to the stock rom via odin it will overwrite the data partition and of course the recovery image so ure back to 0 than and are able to continue what u wanted to do

ATT I777 Boot Loop. Factory rest not working

Hi,
I need help!!
I have been loading custom ROM's using CWM occasionally and yesterday when I tried to flash CM9 ROM my ATT S2 got stuck at boot screen. Then I tried to do a factory reset. Doing factory reset got me stuck at "Formatting Data" and it never moved from there for 1 hr then the phone started booting again. Ever since then I am not able to boot back. I have tried all possible options - every time I try I get stuck at Formatting /data. I tried installing Siyah-v2.6.14-att vis ODIN and tried to restore from my back up. It failed saying "Error while restoring / Data!". I installed factory stock rom via ODIN still the same. I tried wiping the data using darkside super wipe it too got stuck Formatting Data and nothing happened.
Is my data corrupted? I dont know what to do. Can some one please help? Should I try re-partitioning? I am bit scared to do that.

Wipe data
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Flash stock sammy rom with odin.
If wiping data doesnt work, try flashing kernel. If that doesn't work, flash stock 4.1.2 via odin

i just installed the stock firmware which is 4.1.2 and then tried wipe but theres a message in the system recovery says failed to mount /efs? any clue? thanks in advance.
flash latest philz kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270 ,boot to recovery, then restore your efs backup from there(you should have one in your external sd)
Sent from my blazing fast Note 2, running MIUI 5x and pleasantly surprised by it.
just installed philz kernel and went to recovery im searching for restoring the efs but cant find it though. still on bootloop.
i think this phone has other problem already tried 3 different stock firmware for this phone and then go to recovery wipe still on bootloop. tried installing kernel from philz its desame but only thing i noticed is every time i installed a new rom and go to recovery is says failed to mount efs. can it be one of the reason why its on boot loop? and also my friend didnt back up his efs thats why i think this is happening.
do you have a nandroid backup of any previous rom?
yup he has nandroid backup which has on the stock rom but i doubt cause when i installed the stocked rom then installed philz cwm which was 6.0.2.7 i was able to restore the back up but its still on bootloop so i dont know if the cwm is the ones not compatible or the rom.
after you restore your backup do a factory reset in cwm.
now i tried what you said and its showing md5 mismatch when i try to restore.
could be a corrupted backup.did you tried factory reset on your current rom?
argghh im on the blink on giving up on this phone already tried different methods.............
assuming you're now on stock 4.1.2,i suggest you to flash dorimanx 8.43 kernel,,if it doesnt boot, reboot to recovery,do a factory reset. If that doesnt help, try to restore nandroid from this cwm.Of course before restoring do a factory reset and format system and preload partitions.
ayt will try this now!!!
still no luck not working T_T..
you mean you can't restore your backup? And dont forget to wipe cache and dalvik cache when doing factory reset. As for efs,did you looked for it in internal sd too,in clockwork folder? It can be either in tar.gz,img.gz or zip formats. It's stuck at boot probably because of corrupted efs partition. If I remember well, you can restore efs partition from nandroid backup in philz touch cwm.
Have you done a stock samsung rom install usin odin? That should get you back to sqaure 1. If your backup is currupt it will never work.

Can't boot into recovery and can't boot after EFS restore

Hello,
I'm a rather experienced Android user. Before I flashed my S3 for the first time, I made sure to back up my EFS. After about a year and a flash of the newest ArchiDroid version, I couldn't get any signal all of a sudden. It worked the days before, and I flashed nothing new or installed anything. I read online about what that might have caused, and it seems like the problem of a lost EFS partition was the problem. I restored my EFS, rebooted, and the phone won't turn on now. It is stuck on the flashing "SAMSUNG" logo on start-up. Thinking I did something, I tried to boot into Clockwork recovery, but it only shows the ClockworkMod logo for about a second, then it reboots again. What should I do?
Try flashing a full stock firmware with Odin, but sudden failure could be nand wear.
Thanks for the reply, I flashed stock firmware with Odin. No errors, but I'm still stuck at the flashing "SAMSUNG" logo.
Boot into recovery and factory reset.
Alright, got into recovery.
Got an error: "E:Failed to mount /efs". How do I restore my EFS with my efs.img now?
EDIT: Managed to get my phone back to work, However, still no signal. Mobile data and phoning does not work.
Format the efs partition then restore your backup, check the permissions then factory reset again.
Edit. If your efs backup was really old, ie. efs v1, then you might have to flash a firmware from before EMG4 to get the efs read, then update to 4.3.

Samsung phone stuck on bootloop after flashing stock ROM

Hey guys, yesterday I was trying to install cm11 on my Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo but it didn't work so I just decided to flash the stock ROM back through Odin but when it finished and it turned on, it got stuck in the Samsung logo... I tried wiping cache and doing a factory reset and none of it works... I also tried flashing TWRP and wiping through there and that didn't work either. It said "E: can't mount /cache" and "E: can't mount /efs". Same happened when I tried to restore a backup. I have tried flashing the stock ROM again and again and still no luck. I suspect that this might have happened because yesterday I tried to install cm11 and get TWRP to work too much times... Please help me guys... :crying::fingers-crossed:
