no access to usb storage - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

two days ago, from nowhere, i was unable to access my internal (usb) storage, the external card works fine. i cant download anything from internet, i cant move anything from/to storage, cant look at my picutres etc. the only thing i can do is download from play store.
what i know of, i didnt do anything when this happend.. i upgraded neatrom to v6.2 a day or so before i think.
i've tried:
reinstall the rom (and upgraded it)
get permissions both with terminal on phone (su fix_permissions), and in cmd (on win 7), both with phone in philz recovery and normally started (adb shell fix permissions) "/sbin/sh: fix_permissions: not found" is error message i get. same on both computer and phone
fix permissions in recovery, but it seems that my recovery dosnt support that
some fix_permission-script i found on google
the only thing thats working is when i connect phone with mass storage with cable.
i have
rom: neatrom v6.3
kernel: philz v5.15.9
i searched alot on google but didnt find anything that helps me. i've asked alot of peoples but no one knows. any tips? im pretty new to the android world

Maybe its related to changing rom. You must enter recovery CWM and performa
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik
in mount and storage wipe /system, /data, /preload
and after that install neatrom via recovery CWM

[Q] DPS Dream 7 is ill

Hello all
I'm writing to this section, because it didn't allowed me to write somewhere else (f.e. to misc. devices).
I have serious problems with my new Android device, which I have won recently.
First short info about tablet:
DPS Dream 7 - 4.0.4 (ICS) - 1.5 - 3.0.8+ - [email protected] #10 - Sun Sep 2 15:03:57 CST 2012
Iťs exotic tablet
Well, and now the story:
I wanted root to my device... I've heard, that z4 root is really nice for beginners to root their device.
So I have given it a try. I have downloaded, launched and... it said that I have already root... > I thought it's just a mistake so I clicked RE-ROOT. Tablet has frozen for few seconds and z4 shutted down. Nothing happened. Well, so I have tried UN-ROOT (and than I wanted just to click root).
After I selected UN-ROOT, it said: done and I have rebooted tabled. After reboot I was shocked. EVERYTHING WAS GONE! All data, applications, even live wallpaper... When I opened menu, there we're only basic applications... It was just like after I have unpacked tablet from box (but Icons we're somewhere else, it was like I have just started another ROM). Well, ok (I thought) and I have launched z4 root APK from SD card. But suddenly it said that I can't install that, because I have full memory!
I looked at memory and - 1,5 GB free (in) and 15GB free (SD-card). I looked on internet (using google) and I've heard, that sometimes I need to clear /cache and some app data in /data. Well, so I have cleared /cache (through recovery) and than I have tried to download something from google apps (I needed to sign in again and now I have my same device twice in google play). But I cannot download anything - it say, that memory is full! I have then tried to install game (APK was in SD-CARD) called Inotia 3 and it normally installed.. LOL. I have tried reboot (I wanted to install that z4 root and root my device again to bring old ROM back) but .. WTF .. Inotia is GONE again and everything is again just like after factory reset!
So... there was just one way out left. Factory reset through recovery.. It's weird, that in recovery menu I can only move down... I cannot move up (I have buttons at the side of tablet - POWER, BACK, MENU) Well, I have selected total factory reset, confirmed, rebooted, AND IT DIDNT HELP.
So.. please, do you have any ideas, what can I do now?
I need to install z4 root somehow. Maybe it's just stucked somewhere between root and no-root... I cannot do anything, because all changes are deleted after root...
Any help will be appreciated.
Root
The DPS DREAM tablets was initially opened with root. Just install the superuser app in the Market, which already distributes the root privileges. You made a mistake, read the first time.
Hello
Thanks for reply.
Yes, I have made a big mistake and that's why I'm asking you for help
Thanks

[Q] HTC ONE X+ apps unable to access storage after installing custom ROM

Hi everyone,
I need some help with some errors that are occuring after installing the [International] 2013/03/05 AOKP 4.2.2 - 2.0b ROM.
I'm using the international version of the HTC ONE X+.
First off, I have to mention that I am quite noob at these things besides rooting and installing oxygenrom once on the HTC DESIRE, 2 years ago.
Let me explain the problems:
1) when connected to my pc via USB, I can access the phone's storage listed as sdcard, but there is totally nothing inside, and I am unable to copy anything to the sdcard.
2) Also when I try to download anything using the stock browser from this rom, the browser crashes, Google play also crashes immediately when I try to open it. File Manager (safe access mode) throws up the error message "the file or folder was not found" and is empty.
3) Camera and gallery indicates that there is no storage available.
After checking "storage" from settings, it clearly indicates 53.23gb available, 72.11mb (apps), 12.13mb cached data.
I've checked the recovery and discovered that my original data is stored in the directory /0/0/0/0/0, I suspect this is because I didn't realise I had to install the 4.2 kernel separately before I flashed the custom ROM that I tried to install the ROM many times before I realised my mistake and installed it correctly.
I suspect that somehow the ROM is malfunctioning after my mistakes while installing it, causing the many /0 directories and thus while there is available storage space, the apps are unable to read/write data for some reason.
I would install an old ROM version to try to fix this but as I have mentioned above, I cannot transfer any files via USB either.
I'm hoping that one of you can provide some insight into what has gone wrong and perhaps give me some advice on how to re-install your ROM without getting these errors.
If there is any further information I can provide to you please let me know.
Thank you for any help rendered
Same Problem
I've the same problem did you manage to fix it??
If you don't have important data stored on your phone yet, the easiest way is probably format your /data partition in TWRP recovery, wipe/factory reset your phone and the install the rom via "adb sideload" command.
In case you don't know what that is or how to use it, there are two tutorials in the HTC One X+ General forum on unlocking/rooting/flashing on this phone, everything you need to know is written down there.

[Q] no access on internal storage

Hi guys,
I have a very delicated problem with my HTC ONE. Last night I began to unlock my bootloader to install a root. That worked quite well.
So I did everything after the manuals and it worked fine. BUT then I tried to move the trickdroidrom onto the device and it wasnt possible.
Since then I am not able to access my mobiledevice neither from windows nor from mac. Anyhow i managed to install a filemanager and my htc one told me then that "no sd card is mounted"
I really have no clue how to manage with this. I am a beginner yes, but i already used google and the forum search but i only find things that tells to to at least put something on my device to go on...
soo pleeeeease! i need your knowledge to get my phone work again :/
thank you in advance
PS: What I already tried is: mounting all the folders via recovery. but sdcard did not mount and of course external sdcard (probably because there is none
PPS: I tried to download trickdroid via htc one and it says Phone Storage is requiered to download trickdroid:7.5.0.zip

Have I "Bricked" My Tab?

Recently installed the great Lollipop 5.1.1 ROM by decatf. Had some minor problems, and then learned about the 6.0.1 ROM. Downloaded the zip files for ROM and GAPPS, copied to the TAB, booted into TWRP, and tried to install. System went OK, but when I tried to install GAPPS, got a message about "not enough memory". Without GAPPS, the Tab doesn't do much. After several attempts, I told TWRP to wipe everything (checked all the boxes under wipe). Now, of course, I have NO FILES on the Tab, and seem to have no way to get files there. i.e., without a ROM on the Tab, I cannot drag files from the PC.
Looked for a file that I could install with ODIN. No luck.
Loaded ADB on my PC and tried "Sideload" under TWRP's advanced menu. Sideload says:
Updating partition details...
E:Unable to stat '/data/.layout_version'
...done
Full SELinux support is present.]
MTP Enabled
Starting ADB sideload feature...
On the PC, I get Total xfer: 0.00x
and on TWRP it says "Failed"
It's embarassing, but I've run out of ideas. It looks like ALL I have is TWRP. If I could get the ROM and GAPPS to the Tab, I could install them.
Can somebody please point me toward a solution?
Thanks

THANKS for the speedy and helpful response. To clarify, click "Enable MTP" once and the button changes to "Disable MTP", click on "Disable", then click on "Enable" a second time. When "Enabled", the p4wifi appears on the Windows File Explorer list. I drag the ROM file and Windows says "Copying". HOWEVER, the file does not copy. Maybe it's my driver? Downloaded Samsung Kies and reinstalled. Rebooted PC. Same thing happens.
Darn it, this SHOULD have worked.
Return to Stock?
Maybe the only choice left is to search for a stock (Samsung) image file for the p4wifi, use ODIN to flash that, and then start over with the 6.0.1 ROM?
Success...... (almost)
Downloading a stock ROM turns out to be more frustrating than one might think. i.e. Samsung doesn't seem to make ROM's available, and the web sites one gets to all appear to want a 'subscription' to download in less than a couple of hours. (I went to bed and let it go overnight!) What's the deal that there seems to be a Samsung "Region Code" for everyplace except the USA?
Used ODIN to flash the stock ROM. Once the tablet booted up, I copied 6.0.1 and flashed with TWRP. BUT..... had a devil of a time flashing gapps. Got an error, "not enough space on System partition" for every version of open gapps larger than "nano". WTF? The device is basically empty! How can there be not enough space?
Anyway, thanks to decatf, I now enjoy Android Marshmallow on a Galaxy Tab 10.1 when most commercially available tablets (except Nexus, of course) are still on Lollipop or older.
Thanks for the helpful suggestions and patience on this forum.
My original problem, alas, remains. The Amazon Kindle app does not work on this Marshmallow ROM, and it is unclear what can be done, or even where to turn for help.
Success at Last
Thanks to a post about a different software issue, I tried loading an older version of the Amazon Kindle app. Bizarre, but true . . . . now it works!
Have successfully read one of the Kindle books which caused the Kindle app to force close before.
In fact, it appears that Google Play has since updated that old Kindle app to the latest version (4.19.0.131) and it still works.
Maybe loading the older version set something up that the very newest version does not when loaded from scratch?
Anyway, I'm reading and this old Tablet lives on!
Thanks

[FIXED] No USER permissions, only ROOT ownes all directories

Ok, first of all, I wouldn't be asking this if I knew an answer or found one. I searched and tried so many ways, even experimented my own lol.
Story. I have a OnePlus One, which means I had CM installed. It was great but last year I wanted to try something different so I try I changed the room. No visible problem.
Then, my phone got slow and wanted to do a complete wipe of it. So I went to TWRP and try to flash something: result = BRICK.
Somehow solved and went to stock CM (12 I believe), and after some time I convinced myself not to give up and try again so I did.
Installed Resurrection Remix after unlocking and rooting via TWRP but I got caught into and infinity loop in the boot animation.
So I went back to recovery and wiped everything, and I mean everything. I wanted to do it from scratch (except the USB option) and I had read something about the FORMAT option in te TWRP advanced options in WIPE, so I went for it and then FLASHED from ADB SIDELOAD pushing the room and gapps mini (it wouldn't let me install bigger option than MINI) and wiped cache and delvik-cache and rebooted to system. Everything seemed to be working fine., but then I realised I couldn't install some apps from playstore so I went around it downloading some APK's and STORES and install them from other stores, but then I realized I couldn't take any screenshot saying I didn't have space (I got the 64GB version) but it wasn't the issue. I went to the File Explorer and checked permissions, everything was own by ROOT user.
So I did it again, wipe, flash, format, but it wouldn't work.
I've looked for any option but nothing seems to be working. Can get the USER folder to appear and can't use MTP with my computer since I don't have permissions. The only way to get files into my device is by PUSHING them. The phone is working with RR on it.
Any ideas?
I appreciate so much your help and hope be posting this the right way. Also, apologize for my English in advance if I had any mistakes (or will have lol)
Case solved!
Just for you to know! It seems I solved my problem.
@osm0sis is the guy who gave us a flashable script but the solution that actually saved me is the one from @xak944
So thank you very much. I give you the link where you can find the solution in case you have the same problem.
Regards.
