Hi all
I have a galaxy s2 i777 ATT - I can't find its own place on this forum so please forgive me if this in the wrong section
My S2 was unrooted and then I loaded omni kitkatt on it which locked my sim . big noob mistake I feel really dumb believe me.
Now I had unrooted it in the with odin and loaded Siyah ics to finally root it because the sim got locked. I live outside of the USA and nowhere near an ATT network. It has the CWM recovery on it
So all was well until someone ( my nephew ) decided to load omni again and then he loaded Carbon on it
The strange thing that is happening right now is that I do see Superuser in the settings but my sim is still locked I tried to use galaxys2 unlock but it doesnt do anything.
No biggie right but now it turns out my USB port is not working.
So here are my questions :
- How do i get my phone back to stock without a pc and root it (I live outside of the usa thats why I believe my sim gets locked ) so we can use the phone again to call
or
- Can I use mobile odin to load the stock version of android back on it and then unroot it again so I can unlock my phone ?
- Can I try to use frama root to check if my phone is really rooted and if so can it help root my phone ?
For now I'd just like to get it back to stock and root it ( so I can unlock my sim)
I need your help .
Thanks
Maddie
The good news is that you're in the right place, so welcome!
Next, I'm guessing you're still on Carbon? If so please look in System Settings >About Phone and please tell us the rom, kernel and modem version currently installed on your device. It's always good for us to know your full setup.
Regarding the sim issue I have virtually no experience with it, but I do know you can simply call AT&T and they should supply the unlock code (if you have a working phone, of course). You may have to supply your serial and IMEI #, both of which can be found on the battery, so probably best to have that handy if you call them.
You don't have to be on bone stock to unlock your phone, you just need the unlock code... and hang onto it for as long as you own your i777!
Have you tried the GalaxSim Unlock application? Here is a link to download the free version. You may find that you can unlock your rooted phone without flashing back to stock. I have limited experience with this application. I recently sold an AT&T SGH-I897 Captivate which I unlocked successfully with this app while it was rooted on stock Gingerbread. The purchaser wanted KitKat so I loaded CyanogenMod 11 onto it, and checked that the unlock was still present.
To answer your other questions:
I'm not sure why you are asking to "unroot" the phone after returning to stock. As far as I know, you need to be rooted to unlock the phone unless you have the unlock code from AT&T.
You can flash stock firmware with mobile odin. The stock package does not contain root, so your phone will automatically be "unrooted." If you go this route, I would suggest you use the I777UCMD8 stock tar from the Download Repository.
From stock UCMD8, you can successfully root the phone with Framaroot using the Aragorn exploit.

Hi thanks for helping out this is what I got:
CARBON-JB-NIGHTLY-20130929-0603-i777.zip
Kernel version
[email protected]#1sunsep2906:36:49 edt 2013
ROM: CWM based recovery v6.0.3.8
I cant find modem version
I'm in south America and I had bought the phone from the usa unlocked.
When Omni was loaded on the phone it locked my sim and I never had received an unlock code.
So when I went back to stock my sim still stayed locked so I rooted it again with Siyah ICS via odin so I could use galaxy unlock to get my sim working again.
How would I go about getting that unlock code for my sim from Att ?
Do you think I could email att ? I did find my serial number and imei #
The reason I wanted to go back to stock and than unroot it with the siyah ics kernel is because that seems to be stable for my phone.
Yes I have tried using galaxy unlock but it doesn't work it doesn't read the Imei nr and the sim stays locked
Honestly it looks like my phone is half rooted now
BTW the the sim being locked is more like a carrier locked I can't use the sim with my local telecommunnications company.
Thanks again.

Guys .. I have an LG Optimus T P509
I did install the stable version of CyanogenMod 7 from the topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
However, I bought the unlock pin number but whenever I put a different sim card other than Tmobile for example ATT, the phone wouldn't ask for unlock code and ends with no signal at all. Even when I search for networks can't find anything.
I was thinking may be I need to flash it back to the original stock rom. And if so where can I find it?
Any help
Thanks
I haven't unlocked my phone yet, but it sounds like you need to apply the sim unlock pin. The phone is not going to automatically prompt you to do so, you have to do it manually. just open up the phone app and dial
2945#*500#
replacing 500 with whatever the model number of your phone is. For me, it's 509. Also, I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure you need to flash back to the stock firmware in order to do this.
Yeah you're right ... I was able to do the unlock once I flashed the stock firmware, I got my unlock code from eBay, pretty cheap cost me only $5 and then after unlocking it, I flashed the CM7 and it's working absolutely with no probs.
Thanks for passing by
So how do those unlock codes work? Is there one that works for all phones, or are they unique from phone to phone?
I believe unlock codes are unique to each phone's serial number. Some phones, like my HTC Desire Z (a.k.a. T-mobile G2) can be unlocked by other means, a software script or the like. I don't know if this can be done for the Optimus T.

I have the same issue, how did you flash back to stock firmware? Where did you get it from and what are the steps..
stock firmware
this goes without saying but you *really* should have made a backup of your stock ROM before flashing anything. That is where i got mine. However, if you need the stock firmware, you should be able to revert to stock using KDZ. I have not had great success with KDZ though (bricked two phones, successfully restored the WRONG firmware to the third phone, but was able to flash the original backup I made over the V10E firmware)
Just a thought, but I probably need to sim unlock my phone again since I had to flash KDZ
So I accidently have locked myself out of my phone by changing my number to another network and thinking I could still use my current SIM in my phone until I got it unlocked.
I haven't been able to send or receive texts or anything for around 3 days now.
The place online I was getting it unlocked at said there was a delay with Samsung so they refunded me.
I tried the unlock apps but they don't work.
In GalaxSim, it says my phone is unlocked by when I try another SIM it doesn't work.
In the FAQ it says this could be a second SIM lock by the service provider, and to fix it I have to flash a full unbranded Samsung ROM.
I was wondering how I do this?
I'm on Cyanogen 10 and I currently have Jellybean on my device but I'm not too sure on what I have to do to flash to this ROM and if it will erase my data?
Thanks for any help!

Any chance you could link me on a good up to date guide? I don't want to brick my phone or anything, I thought I would have been on a Stock ROM since I'm on Jellybean now.

CM10/jellybean is not a "stock" rom. CM10 is a "AOSP" based rom.
Stock rom refers to your devices/carriers default rom, ie Samsung based rom. Get your needed rom from sammobile.com
Flashing Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
If you want to unlock your device use the search there is plenty of topics if you use keywords like "sim unlock" etc.
Oh so I have to reset my phone pretty much? Can I go back to Cyanogen 10 after I get the stock ROM?

I didnt say you have to do anything however you may have compatibility issues unlocking sim so would probably best to go back to stock.
Yes, you can go back and forth to any rom you want.
Flash stock rom via odin (download mode)
Flash Siyah kernel (again in download mode)
Reboot into recovery and wipe data/factory reset.
Boot Android and use sim unlock etc.
Reboot into recovery and flash whatever rom you like.
Thanks for that, I went onto that site you mentioned, sammobile.com and I chose to do their unlock method with SRS, it was only 15 euro so I'll see if it fixes it!
Thanks

Are you crazy?
There is plenty of ways to do it yourself for FREE if you would just stop been lazy and use search button.
Obviously I'm wasting my time, waste your money.
1) Get Mobile Odin Pro for 3 euro and download this Unbranded Stock ROM:
http://www.sammobile.com/2012/11/15/i9100xxlsj-%E2%80%93-galaxy-s-ii-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean-test-firmware/
2) Read Mobile Odin thread by chainfire:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
3) Flash the downloaded ROM following the guide above.
4) Check if your network still locked, If it is check this thread out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070375
5) Tell us how you did.
When I try run Mobile Odin it gives me an error about not being able to detect the device. It's not asking for super user privileges either?
your device is not rooted? weren't you in CM 10.1?
What device are you packing? GT-I9100?
I followed everything you said and my phone is still locked. No luck

It was rooted but then I did a root checker and it said it wasn't, must of lost it after changing to CM 10 I think.
I downloaded some auto rooter and that rooted the phone for me. Then I followed your instructions and now I'm freshly formatted but still not working. Tried all the unlocker tools again and still doesn't work. GalaxUnlock says I'm already unlocked so it must be a second network lock.
But in his instructions he says that flashing to a stock Samsung ROM fixes it, but I thought that's what I just done.
sure you don't have an IMEI issue? You did back EFS folder before you flashed for the first time right?
check you IMEI by dialing *#06# and see if it matches the imei number sticked below the battery.

IMEI matches the one that I had before I started trying all this and matches the one behind the battery.
In the Galaxy Unlocker app I backed up the EFS files when it asked me tther than that I haven't touched them really. Any recommendations? I've tryed pretty much everything I have seen.
I'm searching for the network info key-in code, for you to see what's locked and what's not. Can't seem to find it tho.
Do you have another carrier sim card to put in & see if it asks for an unlocking code?

I currently have my Meteor sim card in the phone, that's the company I was with for years.
The phone lets me browse and use apps and stuff when this sim card is in it.
I have another sim card for 48 who I am changing to, which asks for the unlock code.
Before with GalaxSim Unlock, it said I was already unlocked. I downloaded an old version now everything says undefined, and said it can't read the nv data, however I am nearly positive I have backups of this as I saw them on the card.
Galaxy S2 SIM Unlock just gives me an unlock code of 00000000 which doesn't work and Galaxy S Unlock doesn't work either, altough it says it does

Well, now we know that you are indeed locked, thats good.
busybox installed on your device?
if yes, try installing another version (older/newer) once downloaded install it and keep it working in the background, then run the unlocking apps again

or try this:

I have Busybox installed, but I have two versions, BusyBox free and BusyBox installer, don't know if it matters that I have the two of them.
I have went to a much lower version of it but GalaxSim Unlock still says it can't read nv data.
I tried that program also and it says my Video card isn't supported :S
And hit the restore button in Galaxy S 2 Unlock and GS2_Repair so I presume it got restored. Where should the efs folder be located so I can double check?

I also got 2 busybox (free 8.9.7 & installer 4.1).
GalaxSim Unlock should have a restore button, dunno the location of the back up, but the EFS folder should be in the data folder, u'll need a root explorer to get to it.
Hey guys,
My S3 is still stuck on the German leaked version of 4.3 (the version that can't wake from sleep mode) and it is really pissing me off. I can't downgrade and I need to unlock to change to the fixed BTU version of 4.3. Otherwise I will have no network.
I have tried Galaxsim and it says my phone has a new lock method that cannot be unlocked, other ways with MMI codes I can't enter.
Does anyone have an ide on how I can unlock or maybe easier changing the laggy 4.3 to a fixed version without losing my network?
I am not sure but you you flash a new rom you wont unlock youre phone but you still be able to reach your network and loose the lag

I was told over at Sammobile if I flashed another rom my network would be gone without unlocking it before flashing
Flashing another rom will only remove any network branding or apps your phone might have come with, it will never remove the sim lock.
Flash the latest 4.3 to improve wake lag, then flash the right modem for your country. But you'll need to buy an unlocking code to use another network.

Hi everyone. I'm having problems with my new sim card.
I am in the UK and i recently switched from o2 to iD mobile however the new sim card is not working. It says it's connected to iD network but emergency calls only. If i put the old sim card back in it works fine again. I also tried a friends iD sim card and it has the same problem. I thought it was perhaps locked to o2 only but it doesnt ask me to enter a network or an unlock code? Very confused.
Phone is rooted.
Device Model: GT-i9300
Android Version: 7.1.1
CyanogenMod version: 14.1-20161209-NIGHTLY-i9300
Would really appreciate any help
The phone won't prompt you for a network code unless you're on a stock rom. Custom roms can't interface with the simlock.
If your phone has ever seen 4.3 or later you'll need the code from the carrier at cost unless you've completed a contract and then they must unlock it for free.
I have a 4.3 btu rom if you have a btu phone: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4vTiHTBB629OVlvY0pkcXN4ak0/view?usp=drivesdk
If it has the O2 logo on the boot screen then DO NOT USE THAT ROM

Right, so you think get the phone back to a normal rom then use an unlock code?
It was/is a pay as you go phone. It's about 2-3 years old i got it off the wife when she got a new one.
When it boots now all i get is the custom cyanogen logo i believe, definitely not showing o2.
btw what exactly is a btu phone?
thanks for the advice
Download the latest stock rom from sammobile.com and flash it via Odin.

A btu phone is the worldwide unlocked edition. Carphone warehouse sells such phones as well as carrier editions, like o2, ee, 3 etc which is why i asked about the carrier splash screen.
Flash stock rom, insert new sim, enter network unlock code, flash whatever you want.

Thanks. Still in the process of attempting this(I'm slow)
So now i'm downloading the o2 firmware.
Then flash it over via Odin
Unlock phone via code
Then i'm free to use my new sim card and reinstall custom firmware like cyanogenmod without it un-unlocking itself?
thanks again for all the help btw!
By "flash whatever you want" if you want to reinstall a custom rom you'll need root. To get root you can flash chainfire autoroot (recommended) via odin or use one of those apps that claim to do it for you.
The main point is you have to be on a stock rom to network unlock the phone. There is no way around that.

Yeah i should be able to get it rooted ok not too worried about that.
I've now flashed the stock rom onto the phone. So next step is unlocking.
I've seen there are apps that can unlock it for you, such as galaxsim. If i unlocked through this method and then flashed a new firmware do you think the unlock would remain?
thanks for all the help/advice!
Ok going a bit crazy with this now
I downloaded this firmware
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9300/O2U/
I downloaded the one at the top of the page, flashed it via odin and its working fine etc. However it still isnt asking me for an unlock code and gives me the same emergency calls only.
So confused, not sure what else to try.
Put a sim card in from another network for the code prompt but you will still need a code. The only way to unlock it is to pay the original carrier who first issued the phone, the store it was bought from, or a phone repair shop.
When you have the code from the carrier, put the sim from another network in, enter the code when prompted and it'll immediately unlock for ALL carriers.
If you take it to a store they do the unlock process for you.
Galaxsim is old and defunct, for use on devices never updated.
The nvram edit doesn't work after 4.2.

Yeah that's the thing i still have my old o2 sim and if i put that in it works fine. Then when i try to put my new iD sim in it just sticks to emergency calls.
I think we're im at now is i have an o2 locked phone but because of previous firmware changes it wont prompt me for an unlock code. Also i tested both sims in another phone and they work fine.
Might take it to a shop today see if they can fix it.
O2 wouldn't have relocked the phone. The only thing I can think of is a software issue.
Did you have the correct apn dialled in?
Beamed in by telepathy.
OK, this is gonna be long, but please bear with me......
TL;DR version first......
The Samsung S6 Edge SM-G925W8 bootloader is locked. Is this correct?
Somehow my changing of ROM caused the phone to be closed line again (Only accepts Rogers SIM) is this possible? Or perhaps the seller did some trick to accepy my local SIM card (Globe Mobile Philippines.)
And is there a free way to make the phone open line again?
Long Story below :
I'm from the Philippines and someone just sold me a Galaxy S6 Edge.
Looking at it's info it seems to be authentic, and is branded by Rogers.
SM-G925W8 is the model number and has Rogers built in apps. Android version is 6.0.1
What I did first is check if there is a way to downgrade, tried to do so by downloading a stock firmware (5.1.1 Rogers) from sammobile and tried to flash it thru ODIN. Failed. Upon research it seems that the bootloader of this model is locked and current you can flash with a firmware that's the same Android OS version (6.0.1), is this correct?
However, upon putting another stock, I noticed that it now rejects my local SIM card but before flashing it was fine. I wonder how did the seller did this? Perhaps they used a box device to openline it and me flashing anothe ROM caused it to lose open line status?
If anyone has something to add or correct me, please do so.
Hi, I'm not really active on here but I have this model and just installed a custom rom.
I used CF Autoroot through Odin to root the device, flashed custom kernel (Twisted-V11.5-EDGE) and TWRP and OZOP rom. My phone was originally 5.1.1 but I had to upgrade to 6.0.1 to install OZOP. I don't know if I would have been able had I updated before rooting and installing TWRP, but I flashed the kernel after I upgraded to 6.0.1 and that's what unlocks the bootloader, essentially.
As for unlocking from the carrier, I don't know if it's legit but there are a couple apps that claim to unlock for free at the push of a button. Might be worth a shot.
