Overheating protection. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So,what makes my games lag is thermal throttling. As soon as the phone gets 41C,CPU mhz drops to 800 mhz from 1400mhz,thus making the games lag! This haven't happened before on stock ROMs,but now it does and nothings helps. Is anyone having the same problem and can anyone help me get a rid of this issue? Is there any way to turn that limit off?

On the google play there is an app called samsung dvfs disabler. You need to download it but additionally you need to install xposed framework to make it work and must have rooted phone
Disabling touchwiz dvfs should help with your problem.

Haha,funny thing is,after weeks of searching,and the no-sleep last night,I finally found this thing,and here's your post.
Thanks for trying to help,though!
P.S Btw,still checking,as I haven't tested if it works still.
Update: Works! Happy than ever!

And remeber not to OC your phone because cpu temp raises a lot of quicker. Its a waste of time from my experience. If you are on the boeffla kernel or any other modifed you can just make some UV it can reduce temps by 1-2 celcius.

Nah,I never liked overclocking and undevolting, ever. Though I'm experienced with that and remember using my phone overclocked. Thanks to my experience,it was running fine. But then I reverted again to stock. I just don't like tweaking my phone's CPU because,I don't know why,but I like to have what I've got out of the box. I feel better with my stock 1400 mhz, even when I know 1600mhz really helps with speeds.
I'm undervolting only on AOSP ROMs to get better battery life (at least as stock) and it helps.

wow, BIG THANKS for @luq529 for finding it, and of course @AssassinGEO for letting me know about it!! finally awesome news!! and hail @wanam of course!!

[Q] Why does my phone turn itself off at night?

I am on ICS XXLPQ rooted and since the beginning of the week, my phone has turned itself off during the night and thus my alarm doesn't go off. I've noticed some weird battery activity so I PowerDefrosted all my frozen apps to see if it fixes the issue.
I did accidentally flash a stock ICS over my Three branded one. Could this be the issue? Cos right now I'm considering a revert to GB as ICS is nothing but problems so far.
If someone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Here's the odd activity in picture form;

well looking at your wake time it looks like your phone isn't going into sleep mode much overnight.
Check the apps list and see what app is using the most awake time.
I'm currently using a three branded ICS which I manually removed all the bloat from and my battery life is ok.
No ideas. The only thing using the most power is my display, but that's normal. Is there an app or a way to find out in more detail at all?
Cheers.
And my bloat is cleared, but only the ones I definitely know are safe.

Many people have encountered massive battery drains and random reboots on Sammy ICS.
Id suggest downgrading to GB or switching to some custom ICS rom as clearly sammy did a ver ****ty job.
If you want to moniter stuff try Ram manager pro....It keeps ur apps in control and id suggest juice defender also.
If it happens tonight I'm definitely downgrading tomorrow. I'm not impressed with ICS at all with all its teething problems. Its like going from XP to Vista.
Its weird because it only happens if the phone is left completely unattended for a few hours. During the day, there's no irregular spikes at all. That's what I cannot understand

Well you have something which awakes your phone and screen. It might be an app which tries/fails to sync, whatever. Get Better Battery Stats and see what's causing it, you're the only one who can help you.

hey, yeah i keep doing that, out of the 779MB i can use, when i press clear memory, its on average at around 600MB without even opening heavy games or anything, and it goes down to 550MB...Its always around 75% RAM usage. :crying:

Your ram usage is normal. Apps that you use the most are preloaded so that when you open them they open up fast and speedily.
You are coming from a windows pc mindset.

Hi, that is good to know, i will then do other tests again and see what the results are. thank you!
Scores are affected by anything else tge system has to do such as re-open apps you just killed before the benchmark.

Handy hint. to successfully wipe out the human race make sure you do not upgrade any symptoms. Any symptoms that evolve you must devolve them, that way people wont know they r infected and the disease can spread undetected. once everyone is infected thats when you start evolving the symptoms!
does not work!

[Q] Best Rom for Battery Life?

Hey all,
I've been trying out a couple of Roms running anything from Sense 5 Roms to vanilla 4.2. I've had a ton of issues with battery life, and I'm not sure if the DNA's battery is really just that bad or if there are better Roms/kernel combos out there that will make things a bit more viable. Thanks for all your help, I know this is a very subjective question.
18-24 hours battery life with 2-4 hours screen on time seems to be the norm for sense Roms running custom kernels. This exceeds the stock battery life by about 30-40%. AOSP has always yielded poor battery life, not exactly sure why. Perhaps because it wasn't designed for our hardware. Just run a ROM with a custom kernel and if you feel so inclined get an app to control your CPU. Network and GPS off when not in use will give you the most noticeable increase. Use better battery stats app to pinpoint misbehaving apps.

Contrary to what others say, I actually get pretty good battery life on AOSP ROMs.
On crDroid with crpalmer's kernel (no OC or anything of that sort):

I concur....I've been running crDroid for 2 weeks without issues and normally get 3-3.5 hours of screen time. And the Active Display is the bomb!

What do you guys make of these benchmark accusations?

There's a lot of rumors stating that the m8 is basically "cheating" benchmarks to get higher scores. Any thoughts? Personally, I don't care if they are. Everything about this phone is silky smooth and extremely responsive. It might actually be the most responsive phone I've used
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using xda app-developers app
As long as it's smooth and fast I could care less about benchmarks. Stopped running them a couple of years ago. They're useless.
I thought kit Kat made it so that doesn't happen anymore (at least on the m7 and gs4, etc)

Probably every OEM is cheating on benchmark (which I find very lame).

This thread was zombied to post a benchmark. But since the topic has been revived: as touched upon by a previous reply, just about everyone cheats on benchmarks. That goes for any computer products (CPUs, video cards, etc.) not just for phones. If a system exists to gauge the performance of a product (and by extension, the product and manufacturers reputation); you can bet that a manufacturer is going to try to game that system.
