Small request to the community - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hello!
I'm writing a thesis on the jargon (technical, specific vocabulary) and to what extent it's exclusive in understanding for communities using it.
I'd like to ask you to complete a short survey (13 questions total) that will help me compose the thesis.
The survey is in English, though you don't need to be English native-speaker to complete it. Basically you're asked to answer questions regarding some Android-related stuff, that you might find obvious oftentimes.
Please, while completing it, use only your current knowledge and don't search google for answers. It's a survey, not a test .
The survey is of course anonymous.
The link to the survey: http://bit.ly/1j5DNwe
After I gather enough participants (20-30), it will be closed.
THANK YOU!
PS: To mods: if i broke any of XDA rules by such a request, forgive me  .

Survey done =)
Glad to help you and good luck =)

Done
Done, glad to help.
Also this form of survey, with results at the end, would be a great form of education for some users here that don't know meaning of particular terms.

Everything can be found on the web in numerous Android-glossaries, no need for results. Not to mention that the questions are pretty basic .
Thank you all for helping me out! keep it up

[FAQ]Moderator needs to reconsider.

Hi Moderator,
Don't take me otherwise. While I am surfing this forum, I can see hell lots of stupid things floating around. Some Rom threads are filing with stupid personal arguments. Lots of threads need to be close as thread's purpose has resolved. If you want I can point it out for you. we know you are doing your job and believe me you are good at it. What I request you is do some initiative to avoid these silly stuffs.
Senior Members,
it's kinda hard to maintain a forum for anyone. As our device a budget phone yet powerful, so we are having hell lots of user and their queries. So
Urge you please give some suggestions so that we can avoid spaming, can also be beneficial for new and senior members.
Aside to new users,
Guys keep your queries thread specific.
Thank you

+1 man. There should be an all in one frequent asked question sticky thread. Most users of the O1 are first time rooters so I don't blame them as much because I had my share of questions.

If the devs could moderate at least their own threads, it would be a different story altogether. Those ROM/kernel threads could be shrinked 80% in size and only useful stuff left.
(Still would not solve the useless junk elsewhere but one could ignore it.)
Dear moderator, could you kindly go through the major development threads (current ROMs, franco kernel) and wipe all the bloody noise outta there.
I will not use a report post function because about every second post is off-topic n00b crap that plain does not belong there, so your PM inbox would get full soon. Not to mention that apparently noone cares about the crippled "report post" function that was discussed in xda-general.
This forum is becoming seriously harmed by useless noise. Some action, please!!!

The Experimental Thank You Thread!

OK Folks, I've gotten quite a few requests to have a thread like this, so here it is! For the time being, this is experimental. Please follow the basic ground rules. Please don't abuse this thread with silly thank you's. This thread was created as a way for members to show their gratirude towards the DEVS & Moderators, or to a member who has gone above and beyond.
You asked me for this, and I'm giving it to you; please don't abuse it.

I am so happy to see this thread!!! Thank you so much Danny!!!!
This just made my day!!!! Now I can thank everyone for everything....
Just because we have a thank button.... doesn't mean we actually have
one.... because you can only thank 8 times..... Which sucks....
Because I thank people for saying smart things, for helping me, for
understanding where I come from, for discovering important things, ect...
Now I can properly thank all mods and developers of this site.... the proper way.....
Starting with you Danny.... for going ahead and creating this thread.....
---------- Post added at 03:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:09 AM ----------
I would like to thank all of you guys.... But here are a few people I want to specifically thank.... (No specific order)
1. Hasoon2000:
Your AIO Root Kit has saved me such time and headaches. A truly useful program! You are awesome!
2. NRGz28:
Your name reminds me of Camaros. But the reason why I thank you is quite obvious. Your Energy Rom has helped me a lot. My battery life is amazing and this is the only rom I have ever used that saves my battery life so much. Thank you!
3. GlacierGuy:
You have helped me so much, your useful links and advice has guided me through a lot of crap. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
You're welcome.

Awesome idea! Thanks @ PeartFan40 for this!
Lets see- first, thanks to the many people who act as contributors, giving answers rather than say "search!" - even when it has been given 20million times. Everyone who does this makes it MUCH easier to find threads that have an answer RATHER than 20million threads that say SEARCH. You have no idea how much time you save, and the patience/understanding you show by doing it is what makes this community awesome!
More officially-
Some other Devs/others who have been infinitely helpful whether they know it or not(some not even members of this forum):
mudhi - for taking the time to give some truly helpful advice, helping not only the devices you use, but those working on others.
j4n87 - for being willing to give helpful advice to catch someone up who isn't quite at the point you are, and the patience required.
bassini - for releasing a mod that fully works when all that was asked was a little assistance! Was pretty damn cool.
EclipzeRemix - for being cool, giving me someone to bounce ideas off of, and contributing in the many ways you do.
mike1986. - for putting the time and work into so many devices, then allowing me and others to use that work without compensation! Guys like you are what make android awesome!
gjcamp - for being patient with noobs and making contributions that are purely helpful
Opentang - for being an awesome contributor whose help and legwork is purely awesome
sportsstar89 - for sticking around when so many left, for getting things done that so many have quit on, being helpful and more.
Glacierguy - For sticking around and staying positive even though there are reasons not to, being helpful, sharing and I'm sure more.
mznatnat - for giving feedback that is truly helpful and being a positive voice in a community that has so many that don't care, don't appreciate - for being awesome.
Xboarder56 - Although I don't agree with many of his actions, he did make many solid contributions when others simply weren't, many things are possible for our phone that wouldn't be without him.. if he were a little more patient, less easily offended, and more willing to set aside differences to work with others I think he would be an even greater dev. But he still deserves thanks, whether he sees it, appreciates it, or not.
Football - come on, you know you made our devices so much more awesome, wish I knew how you do it, but hell yea bro.
I'm sure there are more people than I can thank - all of the members who stick around, make some effort to help each other or contribute, stay positive, or share their experiences with others - you are what make open source what it is, and help keep the noobs in check!

I agree with the search first approach..XDA os not a help site, so I believe in the concept of helping yourself before asking for it.
Also, please try to keep your thanks brief. To keep things tidy, Id like to avoid lengthy posts. Please try to keep your posts brief. Thanks everyone.

I love all developers.... yep... all of them.... ones that do little coding.... to the super complex stuff....... if it wasn't for you.... MY hobby wouldn't exist... (which is modding phones).... I don't know about the rest of XDA but I know that coding / scripting / testing takes some time..... so pressuring a developer will only lead to crappy job on the project.....
I appreciate every single one of you guys..... I was one of the people that pushed for this thread..... after my thread got moved then shut down....
I am sure everyone feels grateful like I do....
Developers are awesome, and without them XDA wouldn't exist.
But without mods, developers would get lost in a sea of countless useless threads....
Developers and Mods rely on each other sometimes..... its the circle of life...... on XDA... Hakuna Matata!

[TIP] How to apply as a Recognized Contributor

I thought of reposting this so that members in this forum may know how to apply as a Recognized Contributor. This is just a repost and some minor modification of what s.d.oconnor posted over at the General Forum
So over on the Recognized Contributors forum, it has become clear that most members of XDA don't know that you can apply for the title of Recognized Contributor (RC).
What is a Recognized Contributor?
Recognized Contributor is a role intended for members who produce some of the best original and helpful guides for users, as well as helping other users who have problems, in a friendly manner. Recognized Contributors will get a custom user title and the faster ad-free XDA template, as well as access to developer tools currently being created. Any Senior Moderator on XDA can add Recognized Contributors, should you feel deserving of this title.
Click to collapse
How can i apply?
Well like it says in the text above, you can apply for this title by sending a PM to any Senior Moderator (list of Senior Mods below).
Best way on how to apply through Private Message (PM)
When you are writing you application to a S-Mod you will need to include:
* A polite hello
* Your username with a link to your username, they will want to check your history.
* Why you think you you would make a good RC, including a little about your time on XDA.
* Links to your work including Guides, Ref, Roms, Projects, Apps E.T.C
*A thank you for their time and good bye (Manners are free)
Note:
Please note only apply once to one S-Mod, do not send 3 aplications to 3 diffrent S-Mods. Also be patient, the S-Mods are very busy people and have other work on XDA and in personal life.
Senior Moderators List
You can find the Senior Mods HERE
If you do get accepted as a RC then please come and visit the RC's forum and help contribute to our work and cause to make XDA a better place. If you have any questions then please ask, i will or other RC's will help in anyway we can.
Good Luck with your application

100 posts to become Sr. Member. Do not spam or moderators will ban you.
You need to create really good guides (no spamming), you should be helpful, no flaming, no warez, no breaking rules, no bans etc. Then you apply for Recognized Contributor. They will check you profile. If they find you suitable then you become RC.
You can get signatures from Google search and Photoshop.
There is a thread where OP and his team make cool signatures for you.

Hi, please get to know the site better. There are threads and posts about every question you asked in the OP. One way to be an RC is to be proactive, to familiarize yourself with the site and to be helpful to the people in it.

You also need quite alot of posts to be RC... useful posts of course, no spam. I was in a bit of an uncertain area when I became RC, as you can see I don't have an awful lot of posts, but I'd say less than 500 and you'll probably get turned down. You should create some projects with other members to make a team, and you need to give help to multiple fora: So help in the fora for all your devices, and also try to help other members here in the Q&A section. When people are disagreeable, count to 10, take a deep breath, and try not to let your anger out on them . Basically you just need to throw yourself into the community, helping out wherever you can, creating really good guides, not spamming, keeping the peace without trying to be a mod, and just showing that you are contributing. If you're lucky then someone may just notice how helpful you're being and nominate you, which is how I became RC good luck.
