Safestrap KitKat modules? NC2 or NC5 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Trying to flash a ROM that supposedly works via SS 3.72. I'm coming off of Surge's NC5 ROM and I'm on the NC2 bootloader.
? Which modules do I need to get WIFI to be able to toggle on and work?
I've tried the NC2 modules in the same session as the new ROM flash but yet I still have no WIFI, it won't even allow to toggle to ON.
Thanks.

Thanks Surge! I went ahead and reverted back to your base NC5 Rom for now. Not like there's anything wrong with it, lol, I just like trying new stuff. I'll give these modules a try that you posted if I get enough nerve up to re-flash the other ROM for the 3rd time

Solved my issue. Maybe this will help others, I'll leave it here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52624073&postcount=884

Well I'm on mk2 bootloader and have been looking for that zip for weeks. Tried so many fixes and had to start over so many times trying to fix wifi I finally thought it was the rom and tried other roms and it was the same. Maybe if you added that zip to the OP people would get wifi up and running

thank you guys for this. saved my ass! now running hyperdrive v16 with working wifi on my I545!

Thanks, I was looking for that app today. I ended up dialing *#1234# on the phone which pulls up superuser app (odd) then displays the version screen once I hit back. Phone info gives you much more info though. I used an app called elixir 2 that displays more phone info then I need to know, but it's also a great app nonetheless.

Installed WiFi modules still have to do soft reboot
Hi,
I installed the nc5 WiFi modules and while I am able to get WiFi working, if I restart or power down my phone with WiFi turned on, I have to do a soft reboot for the WiFi toggle to work properly again. I saw this was a known issue - does anyone know of a permanent fix for this?
Here are my specs(see attachment).
Thanks.

[MOD] Enable all toggles + unlock native Tethering for MK2, MJ7 & ME7 (1/20/14)

I know ME7 users can still use the toggle but people using MJ7 and MK2 can't, so this just gets rid of the subscription checks for all 3 and allows you to activate them from settings menu. For stock ME7, MJ7 and MK2 tw based roms only.
Note: This does not remove the on going wifi notification. This is mainly for people who have issues removing the ongoing wifi notification
1. Back up your rom via recovery. Make a back up of framework-res.apk if you wish
2. Flash in recovery or overwrite stock framework-res.apk in /system/framework with this one (doesn't work with odexed roms)
3. Wipe cache/dalvik in recovery
4. Reboot device.
For ME7 Download here

Edit: 1/20/2014
Enable all toggles + unlock native Tethering
If you have Safestrap installed and are on a MK2 or MJ7 rom/build you can flash the corresponding zip below and you will unlock native built-in tethering and also get all the toggles including the usually absent Wifi Hotspot widget. Both versions have been tested and confirmed to be work. This solves also enables all the missing toggles, not only the Wifi Hotspot toggle. Toggle issue = solved. If you don't have Safestrap then let me know, I'll write up a script to do the same thing if needed.
Devs/Modders/Themers - You can use my script without my permission and you don't need to give me credit. I don't do this for ego/pride I'm already narcissistic enough as it is.

Would it be possible to combine this with the removal of the ongoing WiFi notification? Since these both modify the framework-res.apk, it seems that they overwrite each other so I can only use one or the other when applied.

I have a MJ7 build with a MK2 based rom installed (Foxhound). When I flash the MK2 fix in safestrap recovery it indicates that it is actually installing the MJ7 toggle/tether fix, not MK2. When I reboot I am hung up on the Foxhound startup logo. What am I doing wrong?
Also, I get a message that says something like another app is already running must be stopped before another one can be started and returning to %1$s or something close to that.

It's still installing MK2, I just forgot to rename the script. The reason your getting errors is because foxhound doesn't use MK2 vzw files, it's based on a ml6 build I believe, just made to be compatible with safestrap

Thanks, Surge1223! Makes sense. I was hoping for an easy way to get a torch toggle. Everything else seems to work fine.

Hey op, is there any chance of getting a mod that allows you to increase the amount of toggles in the status bar? Like 15 toggle mod? I've been searching all over for that. I'm on Verizon mk2 from jkruse (mdk bootloader if that makes a difference). Stuck with 10 toggles though. Sorry if I missed something obvious, but I can't find anything. Seems like there would be something like this around already. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Just push the framework.apk on top of your old one.
As for the MK2 version of this mod... Is the framework.apk edited from a stock rom? And will this work for odexed roms?

Safestrap M1I issues

Users running roms on phones with baseband M1I with safestrap and it's current module are having issues with things such as screen rotation and air gestures. It has been discussed in the hyperdrive thread thoroughly as I originally thought it may have to do with that rom. check out that thread and also post here if you are also having these issues.

After I took the MI1 update I installed Hyperdrive 10 with the MI1 kernel module. The only problems I was having (that I know of) were no Auto Rotation and no Air Gestures.
Without the MI1 module or with the ME7 module everything except WiFi worked.
Ok so we use the me7 modules that are related to screen rotation and air gestures and use the stock MI1 modules for the rest

I have the old modules and the new hyper drive rom give me till tomorrow I'll edit this post will my results. Got nothing to lose
Also had trouble with screen rotation =(
EDIT:
-Screen rotation still not working.
-Air view/motion working. Tested with internet gallery and music.
-WiFi calls texts all working.
Update?
Has anyone resolved this auto-rotation issue yet?
Did using separate modules work?
I have Hyperdrive RLS10 on my S4...
Flashed coming from MI1, and the flashed the MI1 modules...
Only thing I've found that doesn't work is auto-rotation (my air gestures and wifi actually DO work).

Oh well, it was worth a shot. I found an app called "Ultimate Rotation Control" where you can change the rotation manually from the notification bar pretty quickly, so I'll be doing that until a fix comes cause I don't want to stop using Hyperdrive.

Does anyone know if anyone is actively working on this issue or is it just something we are going to have to live with? The reason why I ask is because although safestrap is great to have to at least run a custom rom having the rom not fully work is sort of a draw back. I'm tempted to ODIN back to factory MI1 and then update to MJ7 and use the vroot method (although its not safe) just so I can have 4.3 and root. But I will hold off if I know there is at least some developer working on trying to get the modules working correctly. Please don't take this as complaining its just an inquiry. There are a lot of threads all commenting on the same problem but nothing is really being said if anyone is trying to resolve it or not.

New guy to S4 here. I've been ROMing for a few years, but always on Nexus phones. With no decent Nexus for VZW for a while, I got an S4 yesterday. I have no idea what it was out of the box, but on the way home in the car it apparently updated to MI1. At the time I didn't know that was bad.
I have it rooted fine, installed SS, and understand how SS works. Do I/we need special ROMs for SS? I tried 4.4 Gummy and CM10.2 nightly in rom-slot1 and the phone hung (battery pull needed) when booting slot1. I was hoping SS was just another recovery method that could use any ZIPs that would work with CWM or TWRP.

Offhand I'd say read the ss thread here and Dev thread...ss is a specific recovery platform that allows us to run certain Roms based off the tw kernel of stock me7....no support of custom kernel based Roms...so cm and asop based Roms are not supported.

I need a couple people running either MK2 or MJ7 with Safestrap installed to test if flashing the tether unlock zip below (MJ7 or MK2 depending on what build your on) also enables all toggles, including the Wifi Hotspot toggle. Please respond and let me know if it works/doesn't and what if any errors were. Only try on VRUEMJ7 or VRUEMK2 roms/builds.

[Q] I'm on stock mk2 i want to update to newest + root

Hello guys, I am on stock mk2, 4.3 with root, and I just downloaded safetrap 3.71 haven't installed it. Im familiar with flashing via twrp, however Im not sure which method to use. There are alot of different methods from downgrading to upgrading. What is my best option? Will i need to update modem+kernel?
i can only recommend visiting my thread and downloading 1 file upgrade. either the Complete Package which has all the apps modems modules ect you'll need or just the NC2 or NC5 1 file upgrade you flash in Odin 3.10 for the safest and easiest upgrade possible since your already on 4.3 rooted with safestrap then you don't really need to worry about downgrading as you shouldnt have to downgrade. Just avoid OTA/Full System Odin Flashes and well anything with bootloaders in them... at least thats what I'd do if I was you

I was particularly looking into this method: 1545_MK2toNC5_KeepRoot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2749660
why is it bad flashing this OTA? Also just from reading posts, if I flash full nc5+root i had to flash modem + patches? or am I incorrect? This phone is going to be for someone else, So i want to stick with stock + root as much as possible. One key feature it must have is wifi tethering.
Also, what method are you suggestion I use in your post. method1 or method2?

That's the way I did it (munoz_ri's I545_MK2toNC4_KeepRoot), starting with clean MK2. One small flash and a reboot and it's done.
If you're starting at MK2, that's the fastest way to go.
If you're starting at NC5, use Surge1223's or Gigilie's upgrade. techguy2002's directions are easier to follow than Gigilie's IMHO.
Here's some very well written instructions for gigilies method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2769480

[Q] Custom Recovery wont Load

I have an SCH-i545 and It was recently on NK1, I downgraded to NC5 and used towelroot. Did a factory wipe from the recovery, but now I cant get either TWRP or CWM to load? It only uses the stock samsung/verizon recovery, and this is not letting me flash any custom rom. Did I miss a step somewhere? I've got SuperSU installed aswell.

No it is not. Verizon implemented a downgrade block. You can't go back to MDK, there is no way..

You can flash stock based Roms with safestrap still. You just can't flash a non stock kernel. Which means stock Roms only.
I ended up going with the cleaned stock nk1 and I'm digging it, once I get on my pc and can search better I'll go with eclipse perhaps. The Wi-Fi won't turn on though, gonna head over to that post and figure it out. =) thanks again

I believe there is a WiFi module to flash. Eclipse has it built in. WiFi working perfect here.

That's not entirely true. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/development/rom-kitpop-v1-0-t3019132
AOSP Safestrap-compatible ROMS are starting to pop up. I'm not sure how they work/how well they work, but there it is.
