Capacitive buttons and bottom of touchscreen not working - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got a used GT-5830i, and the capacitive buttons don't work, and neither does the bottom of the touchscreen (only the very bottom few rows).
I've used Odin to flash back to stock and that doesn't seem to have helped, so I'm guessing it's a hardware issue.
Is there anything I can do to repair the phone myself?

I'll give that a go then, thanks.

Bro you need to change your touch panel for sure. I had this problem like my screen was not responding on the rightmost side vertical strip. I got my touch panel changed and now everything is fine

Asus TF201. Problem with touchscreen

I replaced my broken touchscreen on this device. But there was a serious problem, when i touched the screen on the right side, click on the left side works. Up and down working properly. It came out as a mirror image of tapping the screen to the left detergents. Seems to be calibrated, but I could not find it in the standard settings. Tell me how to fix it?

Looks like there are two different digitizers for TF201 so it's probably you have the wrong one for you device. More info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837997

Back Touch Button does not respond good. how is your phone?

hi,
There are 3 Touch Buttons at the Bottom of Xperia S.
Back, Home, Menu
These 3 Touch Buttons does not respond very frequently. Back Touch Button is the worst.
And This annoying me very much..
How is your Xperia S? Do you have any tips?
What firmware version do you have? For me, version 6.1.A.2.45 improvement the responsiveness of the buttons. It still isn't perfect but at least it feels much better than previous firmwares.
They tend to be kinda unresponsive, but I found a way to not miss, I slide my finger upwards from the transparent bar going to the screen area, pressing the button on my way up without missing. It's kinda lame when you think about it, but you get used to it, it comes naturally when navigating using the soft keys.

I never have any prob's.. Just press a bit to the left of the buttons, you won't miss even once
Use the thank button, it's there for a reason

Well.. then.. i need just a practice. after that, i will write the report here again...
I think you just need some time to get used to pressing them.
At first I had problems too and had to swipe up on the buttons to get them to register.
Now, I have a 100% "hit accuracy" on the buttons without having to slide.

How to disable hw capacitive buttons in JB?

HI, since I've always had issues (from stock rom up) with hw capacitive buttons (home/back/search/menu), I would like to disable them, maybe my Folio is faulty on them (randomly the back button fires by itself, even if the tablet was left alone on the table).
So I ask Artem or anybody who knows it: I can build from sources, what is the minimal diff I can make to the sources? Is it sufficent to comment out line 'CONFIG_KEYBOARD_FOLIOCAP=y' in tegra_betelgeuse_android_defconfig?
Thank you.

may be its a bug....
when this happens to me, i click one time on power buttom and than wake it up again. but this isnt the fix solution for the problem, just solves it temporarely
ans solution?
one "solution"
Hello, posting for the first time =)
Anyway, i've had a problem with folios crazy buttons and screen response since day one.
Nothing really changed for me with rom updates and different apps. I have tried it all...
I had enough and finally unplugged that little cable that connects into circuitboard
of those buttons and power-led. This is really no solution but takes care of that problem =)
It also disables power indicator led, so that's a little inconvenience =/. But since unplugged,
touchscreen started to work in every way better like its more responsive and doesn't "freeze" anymore.
But this requires you to disassemble your folio to get to touch with the cable to the circuitboard.
Removing plastic back cover isn't enough, but you Dont have to detache the screen from faceplate.
I'll plug it back on when there's a software fix for buttons behavior. Meanwhile enjoying peace from
button madness =D. Sorry if poor english, i'm Finnish

After disassemble screen seems to work, but after some time is starts again and I don't have "crazy" buttons though.
I'm using mouse and keyboard and it's comfortable.

Sounds like a hardware problem, but you can use LMT launcher as a substitute for the hardware buttons.

yea but what hardware. its weird that only the soft buttons are effected. my wifes phoen does the exact same, just not very often, a couple restarts usualy fix it. mine seems hosed.
ill take it appart and replace the broken piece, but i dont know what woudl be the proken piece.
Could be any number of things. The digitizer itself could have failed. The connector ribbon could be broke. The connector to the main board could be broke. Or something else on the main board could be broke.
took it apart. didn't see anything wrong. it it together and its working again.

Screen replacement and also buttons

Hello guys i got a Z2 2 weeks ago and i have 2 problems
1.the touchscreen it ultra sensitive and when i hover my finger over the screen it touches it!
2.the power button and volume buttons are really deep pressed inside that i can almost press them!
I sent the phone to sony service and i demanded a whole mobile new replacement but they said they will fix it, they will replace the screen and they also said once you change screen the buttons are changing too! Is this really happens? Anyone know? Will i have a problem and should i push it for a replacement or evetything will be fine?[emoji33]
If someone had same problem please reply thank you
My buttons are similar to yours, and I have replaced the button several times. The button will naturally go inside after awhile. As for the screen, I recommend you just go to Sony to change

Haha it goes in everytime. But i suspect mine Is because of my case. The buttons also get shaky. I guess their so called premium is maybe the aluminium frame and dual glass panels
