Little clearing about ROM names

Hi,
Can someone make clear to me as a noobie what are the differences between "cores" of the ROMs?
I see there are most favourite ones like "XWLP9" and "AOKP" - what are the differences between them? I see AOKP has more updates from kernel and maybe some other things in addons? Besides XWLP9 seems to me more stable but I only observe rom peoples comments and replys so can someone tell me which ROM core I should be focused on when choosing ROM? Some advices, experiences what you have with them - ADVANTAGES and DISADVANTAGES maybe or something ... I see there are roms like these two from what I want to choose:

Thank you for all your advices ...

Google is your friend.
XWLP9 is the latest stock/official ROM version from Samsung for the SGS2 (GT-I9100).
So, these kind of ROMs are based on Samsung stock ROMs ... with some customizations (e.g. rooted, some removed bloatware, some custom themes/mods, etc.).
The other kind of custom ROMs have AOSP (Android open source project) or ASKP (Android open kang project).
So, they are either on pure Google Android OS or Linux. Usually there is a team of developers who share their parts/versions in binaries and as source code.
The kernel is kind of "core" of the firmware.
Every ROM contains its own kernel, as this is a basic part of the firmware ... and the phone can't work without it.
You can also flash other (custom) kernels on a ROM.
But not every kernel is compatible with every ROM.
OK thank you I read about these two a lot i needed some experienced opinion and clearing it up for me.
What I basically needed was opinions about these two versions from experienced users. If non oficial and trully open made ROM is better and in what ways or is it better to stay on oficial ones etc. This is what i wanted most from this thread ...

[Q] Ultimarom 9.x AOKP/CM Themes

Hey guys, a quick question regarding the new Ultima ROM release 9.x
I tried to post in the dev thread but apparently there's some hierarchy in place that prevents new users from posting there.
My question is regarding the option of installing Cyanogen / AOKP Themes from the playstore when using Ultimarom with the Touchwiz Launcher.
I may mix things up, but I think Ultimarom 8.1.1 did feature the Trebuchet launcher, which included an option to select various themes.
I am not finding this option in the 9.0 / 9.1 releases. Is there a way to install the trebuchet launcher via the Aroma installer ? Or how can I get above mentioned themes on my I9300 running Ultimatom 9.1 ?

Hey Kryten, thanks a bunch for the quick response, it is appreciated a lot. On a second thought I might indeed have mixed things up with JellyBam.
Since I can't post on the Dev thread I'll say it here: Awesome ROM, first custom one that will stay for good on my phone, keep up the brilliant work. I'm a PHP dev with quite some Linux experience, currently getting into the depths of android ( Java ) developement, so one day I might be able to contribute.
Thanks again mate.

[Q] Questions about updating ROM from source

Hi guys, i'm new to Android development. I built Paranoid Android from source for TF101. The ROM was nice and i'm happy with my ROM. So now i'm so curious about what developers do regarding building a ROM and updating it.
1. If the ROM had bugs/problems, how can i analyze it and find the root cause of the bug?
2. How can i fix the bug? Do i need to edit a file in the ROM?
3. Every ROM that had updated build from source has an changelog, how can i know what is the changelog?
I'm sorry if the questions are quite noobish. I'm new with it. Thanks

[Q] Android 4.3.1 Multi user option only available on PAC ROMs??

I have Installed several Android 4.3.1 based ROMs but non has the User (Multi user) option. Only PACMAN ROM has it. My question is shouldn't Android 4.3.1 have the Multi user ability built in? and if so why only PACMAN has it and not others like the latest slim build or aokp etc....
Sorry if this is redundant question or been answered before but really that feature is the most important development made by android and most needed. It is frustrating to see it omitted on such great ROM like Slim Build.
Thank you in advance and apologize for any shortcomings in my question.
Bump for exposure and hopefully someone can help him out. :highfive:

I'm not positive, but I think this is a google featured implemented in 4.2. I think the ROMs you may be using might have just taken those features out.

Oukitel K12 Custom Rom

Hello, I create this thread to know if someone knew a stable custom rom for the Ouktiel K12.
Indeed this one in its basic version is on Android 9.0.
I would like to find a rom allowing me to pass on a higher version of Android, without bug (Camera, Audio, applications, etc.)
Thanks in advance for your answers
