Does anyone have know if we can get the app that allows you to take still pictures from video
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
that feature is available in the stock ROM, just tap the screen while recording a video and it takes a snapshot.

I definitely wanted this feature, and I'm glad I saw this topic.
While reading your reply, I immediately double-tapped my home button to launch my camera, and I attempted your recommendation of tapping the screen while recording a video. Tapping the screen did not work, but there's a camera snap-shot/shutter button. Tapping that icon actually takes a picture while recording a video!
Thank you! I recommend putting "solved" in the topic title. ^_^
I attached a screenshot. While recording a video, simply tap the icon above the red, recording icon. The border of the screen turns green to indicate your picture was taken.

About 50% of the time on Youtube and ALL the time on NowTV I get a thick coloured stripe at the bottom of the screen and sort of coloured diagonal lines across the screen. The playback is sort of washed out behind the lines.
I'm using Nameless 4.4 and have tried clean installs, but it obviously isn't a widely experienced problem with the ROM since I can't find anything on the Nameless thread.
Any ideas would be brilliant as it's really really annoying.
I would change ROM but NowTV doesn't run on anything rooted (even with root disabled) such as aokp/CM11/Slimkat etc.
Go back to stock firmware to test if it's a hardware fault.
Did you come right?
I have the same problem.. I have the 12.1-2015-05-31-UNOFFICIAL-i9300 custom rom on my galaxy s3.
Playback via. the default youtube app is fine, but playback on my TubeMate app gives me the same effect as you have above (looks as though it's playing on an old tv with bad reception)
Worth mentioning that I have 2 other android devices with TubeMate that are not using custom roms, and the playback is fine
I've just written to the tubemate guys.. will post anything useful here
Hello,
so I noticed that the default YouTube had a button with two arrows, that when viewing videos in landscape mode you could press, so that video zooms in a bit, so there is no black bars on the sides.
But with YouTube app update the button disappeared!
1. So have you noticed it?
2. And what can be done about it, or who could be contacted about it?
To view videos with truly full screen was really nice! I want that back!

In new youtube version, It become "pinch to stretch"
Try to pinch your screen like you want to do zoom, it will become full screen
this isn't specific to this phone as ive been having this problem with android in general. but maybe someone knows a trick to get specific apps to fill the fullscreen. i use DirectTV Stream, Hulu, Netflix, Showtime, HBO Max and Prime Video. The only app the has a zoom function is Prime Video. all my other apps play with black bars on the left and right. i think its just crappy apps and lazy android developers because some of these have a zoom function on iOS. only DirectTV Stream and HBO Max don’t.
anyways does anyone know if its possible to force fullscreen streaming? what app does sony use to showoff the fullscreen 4k movies in their ads for the 1 iii? and some reviews showed movie clips in fullscreen. thx if you know.
I think you just make a typical two-finger "zoom in" (i.e. two fingers apart) motion. It will then crop the image (assuming it's not 21:9-ish source) to fill the screen

maybe im not doing the two-finger motion correctly, but it hasn't worked for me. i think only with the youtube app. i'll try again.
two finger gesture doesn't work on at least hulu, directtv stream and showtime. isn't anyone else bothered by this? i even tried the one finger salute. lol
what apps stream video/movies in fullscreen on android specifically xperia 1 iii?
I've noticed that Prime Video pinch-to-zoom doesn't work on my X1M3 (though Zoom is available in the hamburger/three dot menu); finger pinch zoom works on my S9, so that may have been some additional functionality Samsung included. Perhaps.
As far as other apps - Netflix pinch to zoom works perfectly, as does YouTube, iPlayer and Disney+. And wow, 2:1 and particularly 2.39:1 theatrical aspect stuff looks stunning on this screen!
4K HDR will be in full screen .
Hello all,
This has been an issue since I got the pixel 6 at launch. When playing videos, the shadows appear washed out. It appears to be some sort of gamma shift or HDR tone mapping issue. This happens when in google photos, chrome browser, imgur, even other apps. (youtube is fine).
I've confirmed in person this happens to other pixels one of which was pixel 6 pro.
The issue is recorded here:
I tried changing the color setup under display options in system settings, turning off H265 in camera settings, booting into safe mode, forcing 60hz refresh rate, but it still washes out the videos.
This does not happen with videos shot by other phones, for example my wife's iPhone shot video then sent it over to me and the gamma shift does not happen...
Strange thing is, in Chrome while playing the video, as soon as I swipe up from the bottom to open the recent apps, the video jumps back to normal as seen here:
https://imgur.com/a/Va3l5fQ
I reported this to google, and their chat support to me to fully nuke my phone to factory....
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening, and could other Pixel 6 users verify it's happening on their devices as well ?
Thank you

I seldom shoot video with phones and usually don't like to reference reviews. But from what you described Dxomark's summary about video performance is looking to be spot-on.
Google Pixel 6 Camera review: An outstanding performer in its segment - DXOMARK
The Google Pixel 6 camera displayed an outstanding performanc and is currently the best option for photographers who prefer smaller devices.

My experience with dark objects in still photos has been somewhat similar. Recently I couldn't get enough detail photographing black camera bodies I'm selling online. Even with direct light from a daylight LED lamp I ended up using night mode. Every speck of dust showed up which wasn't ideal either.
Over all, though, I like the Pixel 6 camera.

Did you ever find an answer to this? I'm having the same issue... though it's not for every video, just in certain programs/websites.
Cheers.
I've been able to remedy this in chrome by turning off HW Overlays in Developer Options.
It's still an issue in Google Photos.

Sorry if I didin't understand it at first, the toggle to disable HW Overlays in the developer options will always turn off again, at least in Pixel 6, so that's what confused me

Huh it stays on on note 10 . In that case i am not shure how u can keep it on. Can u elaborate on when it turn itself off back again?
Weird, after I turn it on, I can go to any other screen on the phone, if I come back the toggle it´s off again, maybe it´s a bug on my end, here´s the example
