Hi as you can tell by my lack of posts I'm not too intelligent when it comes to tweaking the appearance of my phone. I want to attempt to make my own custom theme/themes as I have plenty of spare time.
• What is needed to create themes
• Where can I get them
• Are there any special requirements
Thanks guys, Sorry if there is a thread answering this I looked.

Hi, glad to see you're enjoying Themer
1. Nothing is needed, only your phone and Themer.
2. You can get themes from either Themer itself or the Themer Submissions page on MyColorScreen. Simply paste the .zip files into /sdcard/MyColorScreen/Themer/Exported/zip.
3. No special requirements, but note that if your phone is rooted, please set your DPI/resolution/display settings to default.

I've been coding for Android for awhile now, but just with a basic UI. I'm coding an app for a friend in which I simply retrieve his tweets, and Facebook statuses, and I wanted to have a sleek UI for it. I know that since every phone runs ICS, which means they won't get the Holo theme(<3). I wanted to know if anyone could lead me in the right direction, or even help me code the app. Are there templates that I can use, or what? lol. Thanks!

hi.
could you please post it here? i am also looking for some nice ui component.
thanks a lot!
My best advise would be not to follow what most app developers do. Use the built in framework for most of your layout needs. You program will run faster and you will get a better over all UI no matter what version they are using. To many people fill their apps with color coding and images that are not needed. You an jack right into the base framework files for most of what you will need
I have a question about how to add a custom guide on android app like on youtube or AOSP launcher (small blue buttons with messages for the users) when runing first time and the user must accept each indication

I would recommend taking a look at this guide on creating holo themed demo tutorials for your apps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419939.

I have been running Buzz laucher for some time now and just recently got a beta code to use Themer. My question would be what are the differences? So far I feel they are quite similar with the exception of Buzz having more features because it has been around longer.
Thoughts?
I dunno but if you wanna give up that code, let me know! I'll take it!

One major difference that I found out was that Buzz launcher consumes over 100MB Memory(without any widget) and Themer takes about 40-50MB even on high end theme ...
Also even in Beta stage Themer is much smoother than Buzz (transition animations).
So I guess Themer has better memory management .
Also Themer will have more Quality and Detailed Theme Gallery than Buzz (Because there are many Themers who have their themes on MyColorScreen also unlike Buzz the Theme is validated before it gets published in the Themer themes Browser)...
u dont need to download any external app like UCCW/zooper etc etc
At a first glance, I asked myself the same question... they are very similar in form and function... But I was looking for the 'widget everything' option and looks promising.
I have a question. I've modified a theme I'm using now, if I switch to another theme then go back will the original theme I modified will it be the way I left it?

Export your current theme before changing to other theme. You can get it back at Themer > My Themes > Exported.
Differences are:
1) Our themes are 100% curated. Only the best get in.
2) Themer is true one-click. User doesn't have to do anything to make the theme look just the way the designer intended.

^^ This - 1 click is literally all it takes. No further setting up of widgets is required, unless of course you want to edit the theme.
Also, with the simplicity of themer, I strongly believe that it will gain a massive community behind it once it's generally released. Plus, there's a dedicated forum on our favourite mobile development site too
What's not to like!

I see the benefits. I guess there are a few features I miss over buzz that I would like to see added.
1) Infinite scrolling of both home screens and app drawer
2) scroll transitions (more fun than fictional)
3) a less intrusive menu button capture
I also think it would be great to have an option to retain the AOSP like play store icon in the top corner of the app drawer.
Edit: One more thing I would like to see is the ability to use the theme based icons as folders or standalone app icons via the long press>edit option
Until Themer can handle my Nexus 4 in full screen mode I will be using Buzz for my themes (although I recognize that Themer has better themes etc etc).
Hi, I have some questions for you devoted developers out there. I don't really know how to theme but I see there are many tutorials out there that can help mer
get started, but there are some things I wonder about that's not been answered clearly.
Question 1: do you have programming skills prelearned from school or are most of you self learned? If you are self learned what is the best way to understand the developing and programming concept?
Question 2: I see a lot of icon packs out there with own design for each icon and there can be thousands of icons in one pack, I was wondering do you make the designs from bottom all by yourselves or do you find a premade template and just alter it with your own design?
Question 3: where can I get a list of icons to theme? To keep myself updated with new apps and icons ? Is there any place where icon templates can get download which are updated regularly ?
Thanks in advance for all serious answers

I followed your guide to rooting and installed a theme (thanks for that). You also sent me a link to download the stock clocks to modify, but I don't know how to put them back into the watch afterward. Do I just drop the files into a folder on the watch, or is there a more complicated way? I apologize if this has been covered somewhere but I couldn't find it in the 2 threads that I know of about rooting and theming the Gear S.
Thanks

its a gray area, maybe theming? It hasn't been covered, Id probably be the one to cover it but I didn't think anyone would actually mod any of the clocks. Which clock did you change? I'll write something up for it.
I haven't done anything yet. I wanted to make sure I could install it first. The 3rd watch is my favorite stock analog face, so probably that one. But I was thinking of maybe doing something with some of the other faces as well; like the digital ones.
