when you put the stylus near the screen, there' a dot on the screen.

The plastic tips feel much better on a tempered glass screen protector than the rubber ones.
Actually the pen is powered by an electrical field generated by the phone. The electrical field is also used to determine pen position. Pen contact is determined by the pressure placed on the point of the pen. To prove this, take out the pen and open action note. Hover above the screen and then press the tip with your finger instead of the screen. You will still place marks on the screen. This shows that the screen does not interact with the pen in any way.

checked each one on the screen..they all feel the same..and hard. not like the original one.

wow thanks i didn't know my extras were of rubber AND plastic. my default one was rubber and it didn't glide as well as i wanted it to (at least on my ebay tempered glass protector). i changed it out for a plastic one and now it's perfect (if anything, too slippery). now i have 1 extra plastic, and 4 rubbers.
OP, try to double check your extras... the plastic tips are even shinier than the rubbers, so you can visually see the difference with a good eye.
I had no idea that it came with plastic tips. I popped one in and the pen is much more enjoyable to use now. Plus there's no more sticky streak marks on my screen from the rubber tip wearing away.
In glad I saw this thread.
just checked my spare tips. 2 plastic and 3 rubber + 1 rubber(original)....seems a bit much on the rubber ones lol..but im guessing they do wear out faster
the plastic ones feel alot...nicer on the screen than the rubber ones lol
Does anyone know where to buy replacement plastic tips? I checked the box and can't find my replacement ones. I've searched and the only option I found was buying a brand new S Pen + the tips for around ~$20. My current rubber tip is almost completely worn out.

wow, I've had my phone since October 4th, and hadn't even noticed that there are both plastic and rubber-tipped replacement nibs in the box! the plastic one is much smoother when using a tempered glass screen protector, so I swapped out the one that originally came installed.
thanks for the post !
ohh..
everyone has plastic and rubber tips?
mine only has plastic replacements, i find the rubber one better on my simple diamond screen protector.
I also tried each and every tip, they are all plastic.

Hi, I wanted to know which set of Screen Protectors is better,
http://www.clove.co.uk/case-mate-samsung-galaxy-sii-i9100-screen-protector-2-pack
or
http://www.clove.co.uk/screen-protector-10pcs-for-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-i9100
I only want to go with one of the options above and want to know which one in terms of quality is the best. The Case-mate screen protectors were purported to not fit exactly with the screen of the Galaxy S2, however, that was for the screen protectors that were included with a TPU case. As a stand-alone product, is the Case-mate a proper fitting? And what about the 10-pack Clove Screen protectors, are they fingerprint-resistant?
Please advice me. Thank you very much in advance.
I ordered Steinheil Ultra on amazon.

Thanks, but if you had only two options (mentioned in my first post), which one would you go for? Please let me know. Thanks again. =)

Sorry I can't vouch for something I've never used. I've used SGP, Power support and Martin Fields with success. I personally don't buy the cheaper bulk ones as I don't want them to detract from the screen quality.
You might check in the accessory section.
A number of posts in Accessory forum re screen protectors.
I would pick neither of those two .

Martin fields is the best ...

I was a big Brando fan in the past when I used Nokias, but the screen protector for my SGS disappointed me. Bad shape, bad cut outs, didn't stick well on the display. The I bought a SGP Oleophobic that's still on my phone without any damage, so I ordered one for my SGS2, too. Still waiting for it.
Doesn't the i9100 have gorilla glass on it? So it's a pity to cover it, and it's not needed, IMHO.
Also the screen protector lowers touch screen sensitivity.
Wouldn't say that, heard couple of users already having scratches on their screen due to sand or something in their pocket.
I would go for the 10pc. Case mate are getting bad reputations from everyone here. U cud try thr clove ones and tell us how u get on.

what about finger prints
I got something similar to that 10 pack. I paid AU$3.20 which is about 2 pounds for a 5 pack. Protects ok, but it is a fingerprint magnet and also tends to grab onto the oil from your hands. I end up having to clean it with a proper microfibre cloth in order to get the oil off. Normal cloths don't work.

Yeah its a finger print magnet but not as bad as the original glass :-( if applied properly is seems like as if it is the glass itself...benefit is that colours and everything on the screen seems more vibrant and bright!
Plus easy to apply and minimum bubbles if you are a bit careful...:-( nothing like the invisible shield crap which dulls the screen and develops yellowish/orangish tint after a time and feels like rubber :-(

I mean, finger prints as in grease. My current protector get the oil from my hands on the screen and it messes up the colours. You get a kinda rainbow effect if you dont clean it.
Rubbing alcohol ftw. I carry some on me in place of hand sanitizer. It works great for cleaning all crap off the screen and drys dang quick, also sanitizes... don't use too much, only a little is necessary

Putting on the case was like putting on the barely there case. Taking it off is the same. Now using the kickstand....well....it's a hit or miss. You can't really use it in portrait, and I am not sure it's supposed to be used that way. That's because the bottom is exposed so the curve of the phone makes it rock back and forth slightly. Now the beauty of this is the portrait mode. This works the best and most stable.

don't like the fact that the top and bottom of the phone isn't covered by the hard case.. but it does look quite nice.
the stand case looks almost exactly as one that is available from Verizon w/ a holster. I am using this myself and only because of the stand - i don't mind that the top and bottom are exposed as I'm not really expecting to use the case for protection.
I like the case, how skinny is the case? Does it add much bulk? I like the fact that the top is not covered so I can dock the phone.
the stand hard case is really beatiful AND usefull... a precious things, could you make a little review on youtube ? i like to see it if stay in place well in landscape (i bet in portrait if you plug the cable on top the razr tip).

I'm just utterly perplexed why manufacturers make cases for this phone with the SIM cutout.
How often during the day do you need to access your SIM and memory card? In my opinion, they just destroy the aesthetic design of the case.
People may say convenience, but in that theory, all other phone's cases should have cutouts on the back.
It makes me completely pass over a case if it has that cutout. Besides my grievances listed above, it's also another spot for a chip or scratch.
Just stupid in my opinion.

I completely agree with you, but the stand case doesn't have the cut out - one of the few that doesn't
just got mine in the mail today damn nice. touch exterior and the finish is great! even the ultra capsule sgp cases have some molding material hanging on the edges.

A word of caution:
I've been using a red Nillkin Hard case for a couple of days now and when I removed it there were a couple of red "stains" on the kevlar back. I've tried getting them off with detergent and even rubbing alcohol but they wont even fade. They're really not that bad but it looks a bit like a spilled ketchup and let it dry and it's bugging the hell out of me!

I've been Googling, eBaying, and Amazoning (last fictional verb sounds kinda cool) for a common, flat case for my Tab 2 7.0.
It has become my number one remote control, so you can probably understand how uncomfortable a flip case is, adding an extra step every time I want to change a channel, or having a cover hanging (why in the world are 95% of the cases are now "folio"?!). Also, most cases either block the IR transmitter entirely, have some part obstructing it partially, making it mandatory to aim with "the" angle towards my TV set.
I have found a few silicon cases on eBay, but they have an S line, or weird X across the whole thing, that just make the device look fugly to me. No offense if someone likes it or has it, as we know, everyone has different taste.
I'd like to just get a regular, non-flip, non-folio, non-X-or-any-character-of-the-alphabet-drawn, plain cover, that protects the rear of my device, and doesn't obstruct the IR blaster at all. How hard can it be? The perfect fit for me would be a flat, matte black rubber thingy, with a hole where the blaster is... so simple, and inexistent! Maybe even better, a hard case.
Anyone found something, somewhere?

I've looked but haven't found any.
I tried out the S curve case that was made for the GTab Plus and it fit horribly. It's too bad that the Gtab 2 isn't popular enough to have more cases. I was hoping for a Cruzerlite case, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

Why not just get one of these cheap tpu style cases and just cut the tabs off that hold the cover?

That's exactly what I planned on doing if I couldn't find anything... get rid of the cover, and/or punch a hole for the IR sensor on the ones that are designed for P3100.

PS: Anyone has tried matte/antiglare screen protectors? Been thinking about one, but not really convinced.
Try the Capdase silicone case for Tab 7.0 plus. Although mine is the folio type, (silicone case with IR blaster slot + leather folio) their plain silicone (w/o the leather case) seems exactly what you're looking for. Just plain flat black silicone, no x or s or whatever. just plain flat.

Do the corners of that case create a bit of a bevel/lip where they clamp on the tab? In other words, when you put the tab face down on a desk/table, is there a space between the screen and desk/table or is it flush?

I prefer the matte over the clear screen protector. The clear one gets sticky at times, the matte is always smooth and you don't have to worry about hairline scratches and reflections in your screen.

Now, the long overdue pictures . Since the back surface is mostly flat (that was the idea), I concentrated mostly on showing how it fits the tablet. My apologies for the narrow depth of field... unfortunately I didn't have my tripod's plate with me, so I had to take the pictures handheld, and the only way to get a steady shot was with a large aperture.
This is the general look of it:

Dealextreme tends to be somewhat slow compared to individual sellers from Ebay, I believe this is because DX is the "middleman" liasing between customers who place orders and the suppliers who advertise their products whereas on Ebay, the sellers are the suppliers who respond directly to customer orders.
Tempered glass screen protectors. Anyone using them? I have put one on my iphone 5s and was really impressed. Found a no name brand and it worked well for $6. I can't pay alot for them. Goes against that sale instinct in me!
So it made me look for one for the mega. I had a cheap glare free plastic one on temporarily which was fine, but I wanted a glass one. Hard to find. Here's what I bought. $12.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/111253895644?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Put it on last nite. I used the hinged method, with an extra piece of tape on the free side for precise placement. It went on beautifully, but I thought I was sloppy cause I saw a fingerprint after application, and I was really mad at myself. But I was so meticulous, I couldn't believe it.
The more I worked with it, I saw it wasn't a fingerprint, but a portion of adhesion that didn't stick the size of a fingerprint. I worked it more, maybe the warmth of my fingers finally got it to adhere. So I was not sloppy afterall. If you have this problem, just give it a little time. I almost was tempted to lift it and clean, resisted the thought, and I was rewarded for my patience. It's a perfect application 8 hours later.

I have applied 2. the iphone was perfect, the mega ended up with 1 tiny speck of dust on the top- off the screen, in the black perimeter. It only bothers me cause I know it's there. lol. If you use the hinged method, with that extra piece on the free end, and use a tape roll on the screen (tape rolled around your finger with the sticky side out) after you clean it, and right before you peel stage 1 on the protector do it again, you should be good. There are some pretty inexpensive glass ones now available. No way would I try it with a $30 one. I paid $12 for the mega one and that was big $$ for me!! lol
I also hear if you put your screen saver on after someone showers in the steamy bathroom it cuts down on all the dust! (tip from G) I never resorted to this, wanting to be comfortable at a table that has been cleaned well.
you need to use the hinge method, with some tape on the side of the sceen protector/phone before you peel of the bottom part, but theres another trick i learned which i practice and lets me put a screen protector 100% perfect...
you do all this in the bathroom, before you do tho, you turn on the shower with hot water, and let the room get steamy.. picks up all the flying arrownd dust, and your screen protector will be 100% perfect.
try it on, thank me later.
I have one of the screen protectors, i can say they are awesome, they make your screen feel so buttery smooth, I bought the Glass.m one and i havent got any finger print mark or oil, or even dust applying it.

Although if you are careful, check out videos on youtube, and follow the tips here, you should be good for a terrific application! Just be mindful of dust. That's your worst enemy and will create bubbles. So dust proof all you can. I work on my kitchen table that has been dusted and windexed. dust off all my tools and use tape rolls. roll the tape around your finger and pretend you are removing dog hair. But it is invisible dust. Then go for it! I never tried the shower trick. I hear it really helps. but again, make sure the surface you are working on is really clean. Good luck!
I found mine on ebay. Amazon has them, but charges shipping.

Tepshine / PThink Glass Protector - Good!
Got this one for my i527 a few days ago:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ICZ4GE6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Went on very easily once I removed the hard shell case I had on the phone. Comes with moistened cleaning cloth and microfiber cleaning cloth and I didn't need to mess with hinging or scotch tape or anything else. Used both cloths to clean the screen and quickly applied the screen protector and NO TRAPPED DUST.
It's only been a few days, but no bubbles, no slipping, and everything seems to work with no lag. Even hovering still works.

just got mine from overseas for a whooping penny. Only problem is the button is sunk down a little bit. guess ill get use to it. putting it on is easy. you can lay it on and slip it around before you push on the middle to get it to set. mine came out perfect
Just be careful on where you get it, I got my first one and the glass got messed up from the cleaning I did and when I tried to get the lint hair out of the adhesive part of the screen it broke. Now on to my second glass (privacy shade) and the only defect is that it is a little too thick for touch response but it serves it's purpose (touch still responsive at times)

It's a perfect application 8 hours later.

i have it on my Mega ( i9205 ) and i must say it saves the life of the screen. dropped it several times and only thing that breaks is the temperred glas so i ordered several times on ebay and apply goes easy, just clean the screen and see if the bottom and the top fits then drop it on the screen
it will apply by it self in a minute
then just gently push it till all ends are applied.
and to be sure use a hair dryer over it.
got my 3rd tempered glass now since 26-05-2014 and still no scratches/burst of something weird its just perfect.

Hey guys, first post, after all of the research, I thought you guys knew the most about my new purchase of an old ass phone.
I heard about all the scratching issues when using a pencil/pen. I decided to go get an 8B pencil (soft) instead of the normal #2 (2H), and it seems to work ok without scratching so far (Mind you I made sure the tip was nice and rounded). I hate those thick tip styluses.
Are there any graphite experts in here? haha. Totally wondering if I'm going to end up scratching her.

Put a screen protector over the ASF it will save heartache, and a pencil will still work. I normally use a 2B

I don't know how I feel about putting another protector over one that already has some rainbowing issues when I inspect it. And I'm not about to try and remove that monster of a screen antishatter layer, it seems like its more glue than plastic haha. I sincerely appreciate your reply!
Well i put a screen protector over mine. Doesn't affect the screen in the least!

Me too. The ifolix fits very well. Totally invisible.
And does not impact pencil
I find propelling pencil leads are too thin to be reliable.
So 2B or not 2B, if that's the question I'd say either if the points are rounded.
definitely should have screen protector, anti-scratch, shatterproof, plus the ability to easily wipe off fingerprints (with no protection, I have to use diluted alcohol to get my shiny screen back) yes, there's some faint rainbow thing when you squint your eyes really hard and tilt the screen to the extreme side but that's it.
I use an HB with no screen protector, have for the last year. Just make sure you round the tip and then you have nothing to worry about
