I like my Android Touchpad (Cyanogenmod 9 Alpha 0 Build) very much and i love every minute I play with it. But the real deal breaker is that the battery is dying like anything and within 2 hours all the juice is dried up. I tried every possible method (Battery calibration,Charging and discharging) but nothing worked out. I dont want to leave android and go back to web os someone please help me on this

What is your charging practice exactly?
I would normally charge to 100% and wait till it goes down to 0...at first it took around 3 hours for full charge but now its almost taking 5 hours go get a full charge

You know there has been a charge fix released like half a day after alpha 0 was released to the public. In fact the newest build is now 0.5 alpha, which makes your issue a problem of not updating. Seriously though, update to the newest build.

I am not surprised.
NEVER let it get to zero! You will ruin the battery.
Keep it on charge as much as you can.
You may already have done damage.
Oh my bad Yes i did install the charger fix since i was getting UI error....let me see how it goes for the future charges..i will keep it in charge hereafter before reaching 0%...

Are you serious? These batteries degrade with each charge. Constantly charging is a bad idea.
But the battery degrades when left on zero. When I was on xron I left my touchpad dead a lot. Now I can definitely feel it not lasting as long anymore. Although it could be cm9

Thats odd... I can go days with my TP on one charge... I don't use it during the day (at work), but it's on, screen off. I used it alot at night and read before I go to bed, but just turn the screen off. I also bought setcpu and have some profile set up so when I don't need the computing power I underclock it and when I need it I overclock it. Do the same with my phone and it really extends battery life.
I'm seeing really good battery life with A 0.5. I saw good battery life with A 0 too, and evervolv. Like 6-8 hours of screen on actual browsing use. I see almost no battery drain with the screen off. I can easily go a few days between charges. I don't know the charge time because I have a Touchstone. So, when it drops to less than 50% I leave it on the touchstone overnight. I use the app dock nothingness so that it won't wake up and keep the screen on.
Check you don't have any apps preventing sleep. BetterBatteryStats should identify any apps causing a wake lock. CPUspy will also help you verify the CPU is entering deep sleep when you turn off the screen. The very first build had a wake lock that wasn't caused by any app, but the charge fix fixed it. I noticed on the very first build the light on the button of mine was always on, even with screen off.

I'm afraid you're incorrect.
Allowing a lithium battery to repeatedly go low will cause serious damage and pull down usable life and capacity.
Constantly charging to Max and the monitoring circuits will take what's needed and no more so you are only putting back what's used.
It's not charging any more than you use so there is no added degrade.
Plus if you have the device on charge as much as possible then the cells attain their max capacity.
About 3hrs with CM9, from full charge. Wifi and display pull all the juice.
I would reflash and start from scratch. Sounds like a process going rogue, I get 12 hrs or so on a full charge reading and browsing.

I have no idea how to explain your situation but I know my battery life is better with CM9 than it was with CM7 - and that wasn't bad to start with.
for me battery still working good, is holding all day whit the wifi, no using hard way and in sleep mode i can be 2 days whitout chargin, i just use it to browse some webs
Hey all,
Since there's no Q&A thread as of yet, I'll be posting my question here.
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I have searched for it but couldn't find the answer.
My Xperia S just came in today, I started recharging the device when it hit around the 10%.
However, it's recharging so, so slow! Is it supposed to be this slow?
I thought the Xperia S was supposed to have fast charge capabilities?
If so, how do I charge it faster?
It's a Dutch unit btw.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I have a generic UK unit the first charge does take slightly longer. It took around 2.5 hrs after that I got from 1% to 100% in just under 2 hrs. You are not charging via your PC are you?

Nope, using the supplied charger and cable..
EDIT: Also, there seems to be some lag on the home screen and especially in the app drawer.. Anyone notice this?
There are 2 versions of chargers shipping with the XS, EP800 ( less power output ) and EP850 ( More power output )
check your charger to see if it is an EP800, i am pretty sure it will be. The 850 does its job much faster.
Another way Sony is "cheating" on us.... after i got my XS replaced twice in 1 week and already waiting on another replacement it just do not surprise me anymore that things like this happen with this device.
First Flagship from sony alone and it is already a catastrophe

Ah, you were absolutely right. Second charge was way faster.
I believe I just recharged 60% within 30 minutes.

Yep, it's an EP850. The first recharge takes ages, but the second recharge is pretty darn fast.
I don't have any problems as of yet with the XS, except for its laggy home screen.
Wonder if I'm the only one whose home screen is lagging..
What's up with yours?

is ep800 safer 4 battery? quicker charging = shorter battery life?
more mA -> more resistance -> more heat -> less battery cycles life?

Someone else may know this better, but, as far as I know, Xperia S have tech so it recharge faster without problems.

It's no safer than the 850.
The phone was made to withstand the 850 charger (one of the selling points actually was its charging). My phone (Tmobile NL) was shipped with the speed charger, but I'm noticing that after a few weeks the phone seems to be charging fast in general, on any charger...or maybe I am just imagining things?
I have an old BB charger that I use sometimes (I have chargers all around the house from old phones, i swear :/) and it seems to also charge it fast.
Edit: Also, on both chargers, my battery life is just as fantastic at night I charge my phone while I sleep though ( I don't get why you wouldn't charge your phone while you sleep?) so maybe my battery is more worn-in than a lot of people.
My phone is plugged into my " old " desire charger at home, which seams to charge faster than the default one , saying that , I also use my PC to charge ,so maybe the little top ups help + the charger at home .
It does last a while now, however we are running a powerful ( mini ) PC , so we cant expect too much !!
Hey guys
I got my ultra yesterday and it came with about 40% battery and it took nearly 2 hours of screen on time to kill it which was amazing
I've given it a full charge so this is my first cycle and battery life isn't great with just over 1hour and 10 minutes screen on time which is worse then my 18 month old s3
Will it get better over time? I've got all the power saving features on
Thanks

1 hour 10 minutes from 100 to 0%? You should get around 5-7 hours of screentime. Just keep using it though and it should get better in a few days.

Hard to tell if it's normal or not. Are you using any apps that updates themselves frequently in the background? Widgets? Whatsapp? FB Messenger? I've had mine in standby for 8 hours (while at sleep) at 100% before, and it was still at 100% eight hours later, so it shouldn't drop 1% in 20 minutes.
Just keep using it for a week or so, and if it isn't better, you might have a lemon. But again, it's incredible hard to say what it might be. You can also do a factory reset and see if that solves anything. It might simply be a bug or an app that's gone rogue.
Agree with LordManhattan and 3mL.
When I first got it, I had the same questions about battery life. I was literally seeing it draining a percent a seconds. There were some rogue apps, like whatsapp and pinger (textfree), that were constantly doing something in the background. Uninstalled those and got much better results. After about a week or so and a few battery cycles, the battery also improved drastically.
Try some of the apps that monitor and hibernate apps, e.g. greenify and wakelock detector. I'm sure there are others but those are the ones I use.
I had a 2 percent drop last night so not to bad
And im not rooted so I cant use those apps at the moment
Ill see how it gets on

I m on stock rom rooted. using stamina mode while allowing some of the apps to run in background. battery life is great
never let battery life go below 50%. on contrary to popular belief, it is not wise to let ur batter drain completely. for the first few cycles refer to the manual
I normally get about 1-2% drain over night, a bit more if the cell signal decides to play up a but.
Over this week I got 4d 12h on one charge with 12% still remaining - very light usage: 3 or 4 calls, a few emails, a few geo-tagged photos, a note or two with poor signal most of the working day.
Its been rather strange for me, on the first charge cycle I got 4.5 hours of screen on time and the 2nd I got 4 hours
Im now on my 3rd and im at 85% with only 48 minutes of screen on time which isnt too bad but I feel like I have to have low battery mode and stamina mode on just to get it through the day
Hopefully Sony release a fix or 4.4 with better battery life

Well i don't want to be rude, but are you just stare to your screen for 4 hours? Or are you also doing something with the phone?
Because it really matters what kind of activity regarding your battery life you're doing. Smartphones are not battery friendly, get your charger with you or buy a mobile charger.

I think that ?
It notes how much did it use in last 3 hours. During night phone is not used and it goes to deep sleep to save battery life. Lets say you went to bed with 100% and your phone lost 1% during 8 hours of night. It calculates that phone uses 1% every 8 hours and thinks that battery should last 8h*100%=800 hours (33 days) and its crazy long.
But as soon you start using your phone that predictions get to normal. Also first % of battery lasts longest (not sure why, its same on almost every device I had, guess it has something with battery calibration at full) so it shows crazy ammounts of battery life. Mine personal record is somewhere around 900 hours (I wish) but in the end its down to day or two.
Sometimes when I leave the phone charging on 100% and use the phone, it feels like I have charged it to 105% and first it has to be used like 1 hour to show the 99% numbers on my display [emoji2]
Yeah, 100%(100-99%) last very long. I can get one hour screen on by playing video with it or 20 minutes screen on with browsing. Of course u have to charge the phone for 10-20 minutes more when it just reach 100%.

I've never fully charged my phone the first time I got it (the 8hours charging).
Should I do it now? since I've started to experience battery drain with the 7.1.1 update.
I also asked the same question once. They told me it's no problem, but do a calibration just in case. If your battery still drains, you are doomed. I don't know why but some of us are expleriencing these weird drains that cannot be fixed while others get great battery life. Sadly I don't have much time to look into it

Just download a "battery calibration" app and follow the instructions. Also, I recommend not to let the battery fall below 20% and not to charge above 85% (Don't leave overnight ) But I think you already know that,
