[Q] App to test / verify legitimate sdcard? - AT&T HTC One (M8)

I bought an SD card off EBay for use on my HTC One (M8). I have heard of counterfeit cards and such. Is there any app to test this, and also to test / verify speed?

16GB card? Only recognising 2GB

Anyone using a large car in their s740?
I copied the contents of my 2GB card to a 16GB one, and the phone only recognises it as being 2GB still.
Is there any way of formatting the storage card using the phone?
Or is there a compatibility problem with 16GB cards?
I use a 8 GB card in the Rose and it works well....you hat to format the Storage with FAT 32!
No problem with 16GB on s743. Yes, format FAT 32
I've found the answer to my card problem- yesterday some kind soul went to the effort of sending me this message:
I noticed that you purchased a 'private item' from seller xoldskool. This most likely means you purchased some flash device (drive, card, mp3 player). I purchased several 32GB SDHC cards on ebay and discovered that all were fakes. Mine were actually 2GB or 4GB cards that were hacked to appear as 32GB. My computer reports them as having 32GB, but they really do not. The problem with this is that data will become corrupt and lost.
ALL flash media devices are suspect. Please test your device with the free program H2testw v1.4. Search for and download it.
There is information about this problem at SOSFakeFlash. Again, just search for it.
If yours is a fake give them negative followup to warn other buyers.
I opened a Paypal dispute to get a full refund and notified ebay.
I hope this is helpful to you and you don't lose any data.
Regards,
Annoying that I've been scammed, very glad to the guy who went to the effort of telling me!

Q: format 32gb msd card?

I got a 32 g micro sd card. Foolishly I put it into a usb stick that doesn't support 32 g ( even though it reported 32gb) and started copying from my current card. It failed after a while and when I put it in to the X10a it said that it was damaged. I decided to allow it to format the card. It said that it was processing but the card was either blank or damaged. It wasn't mounted in the phone.
I downloaded the format sd card software from the SD card group pulled out a special high capacity sd card reader to use on a pc and the format software says that the card is write locked no matter what position the adapter slide lock is in. I tried two different m-sd adapters (sony and Kingston).
Any suggestions?

I never updated. The card, a "Kingston" was a fake, confirmed by Kingston's RMA dept. I was able to get a refund from the ebay seller, and now for $40 more from a authorized seller, have a 'real' Kingston 32g card that came with a tiny SDHC USB adapter, so I can read the card in any USB 2.0 port.
Additionally, there are reported errors with the Android format. Never format with Windows. There is a special program from the SD Card Consortium to format the cards properly.
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/ there is a version 2.0 and beta 3.0.

Sandisk 64GB microSD card corrupt in Samsung: Error 0x80070570

So, this may be helpful with others that have had issues with Samsung, or other Android Phones and Sandisk microSD 64BG cards.
short version: if you have an issue go to support.sandisk.com and they will approve an RMA. If you want the details keep reading:
I got a 64GB microSD and tried to move the files from my PC to the card via the card reader and SDCard adapter.
I have an ATT SGSIII and a Samsung Galaxy S 4.
About half-way through I get "An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem."
Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
[Description of file.mp4]
I searched high and low and found many users with this issue.
Many formatted as FAT and that worked, so, I tried that to no avail. Same error.
I tried low level format, recreating the card as FAT32, making it an active partition, 32KB, etc. Same error.
I tried formatting as exFAT in the phone and then transferring. No luck.
I tried non-windows copy utilites (Teracopy and FastCopy) that did transfer the files successfully, but when I put the card in the phone it said "Damaged SD Card"
So, I found this little nugget on Google:
"SanDisk has been made aware of potential product issues involving a very small percentage of its 32GB and 64GB SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSD cards. Under certain circumstances the cards may lock up and the card becomes inaccessible. The issue has been identified and a manufacturing fix has already been put in place. SanDisk stands behind its products and any customer who experiences this issue with the microSD cards cards is asked to contact the SanDisk support center for a resolution immediately."-SanDisk
I filled out a support request and they sent me back

Thank you. I was searching allllll over the internet for answers to quell the unfortunate realization that my card was finished. I just came off the phone with Sandisk and I will be sent a replacement card as soon as I send my defected one. Again, Thank you for this, though I most likely would have contacted Sandisk with my problem, finding this post made the process faster, helping me avoid wasting my time.
well, old topic but still, I have the same problem with my SanDisk Ultra 64GB card and because I am the second owner the warranty does not apply to me according to SanDisk, very strange imo...
here is the latest answer from them:
"The reason SanDisk warranty does not apply to products purchased used/refurbished is because as the product was previously used we cannot guarantee its condition and its proper functionality, we are not aware of what has transpired from date of purchase until the date you received it.
This is why the warranty applies only to products purchased first hand in full sealed retail package.
We understand this might seem frustrating and we are sorry you feel the provided support is not up to your expectations however when a product is previously used, we cannot know if the issue is indeed a defect or the previous owner used the product in a non-supported or non-intended way."

samsung S3 micro card help please

hi guys me and the mrs both got Samsung s3 and with bought both 32 & 64gb micro cards to load music onto but though the music does load with in days the phone says the card is corrupt and needs formatting and so we lose all our loaded music and have to reload it all again, this is happening every few weeks or so and now becoming a real pain.
we bought the cards of ebay and are just cheap branded cards we have tried around 4 different cards now and all do the same.
do you think it may be that its just cheap cards or has anyone else had this problem of losing all the data on there cards on Samsung phones?
was thinking of buying Kingston cards but they cost loads and don't want to pay that sort of cash out if there not going to work either
any advice would be great
Thanks

Easy way to check is if the phone say's it is corrupt and needs formatting don't format it take it out plug into your pc with a sd card adapter and check the contents. If you can read and play the contents then it is the phone software that is the problem if not the cards are at fault and it would probably be a wise investment to get a better card.
Cheap sd cards on ebay are usually fakes, much smaller cards rigged to read what is printed on them.
You can download a tool on your pc to check the real capacity.
