I am trying to find information on how to root my Casio Commando Gzone C771 which is running 2.3.3 on Verizon's network. The phone keeps telling me there are updates available but, if I go to update I get a storage space problem message. I have moved everything I can to the SD card and many of the default applications will not allow me to move them to the sd card or uninstall them. I have all kinds of room on the sd card, just can't clear up space on the internal memory. I would like top root to get rid of many of the preloaded programs that are on the phone.
I am running Mepis Linux on my computer and not windows so, is there a way to do this through linux? Perhaps if I could find the adb program for this and what commands to run. Any help appreciated. Thank you
I'd also like to know these things... my friend has the same problems

Hi:
So i just got this rom on my Eris because I started having some problems with the KaosFroyo with my text messaging. But anyway I can't figure out how to move the apps to the sd card. When I go to Applications and Manage Applications it doesn't give me the option to move it to sd card. I have root rights. I just don't really know how to do it on PlainJaneT. Does anyone know? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Janeth
On the OP the Apps2SD is a separate download. On OP there is also a description of Apps2SD and some adb commands that may be useful.

I tried running the command a2sd install but it gives me some error saying "cannot remove '/data/.noa2sd': No such file or directory". I am kind of lost with the whole adb a2sd thing. When I try the command 'adb shell' like it says on the instructions it says Command not found. Not sure what that is all about. Is there another way to move the apps to sd?
I believe you have to reformat your SD card in order to use Apps2SD. You may want to make a copy of your SD card first and store it on your computer. When you format the SD card you will lose all data on the card.
P.S. I think you have to be on Froyo (Android version 2.2) or Gingerbread (2.3) to use Apps2SD. It will not work on Eclair (2.1) or earlier versions of Android. If you happen to be on version 2.1 there is a service called link2sd that frees up internal memory.
I already did that before I got the new ROM so I don't think that's it. Any other ideas?
Actually I don't really know how to even use that lol so I am not even sure how to use it to move the apps to my sd card.
If you are not familiar with adb, this may help you. It seems like a lot of info. Take your time and go step by step - it's not that bad.

Hello!
I need to know how android phones handle applications being installed in them?
I didn't know if this is phone specific or software specific, so am posting it in both.
I own a Samsung Ace and hope to own an Xperia Play as well.
Now if I install an application, how can I make sure it goes to the SD card instead of the phones internal memory?
For example:
I recently installed Talking Tom Cat 2 on my Ace, when I opened it the first time, it asked me to download a few more files, only when I did I was able to use the application. After that I uninstalled the application using the Task Manager. But where do I delete the other package, or does it get deleted automatically?
Please reply soon.
Thanks.
In some cases it's phone specific and others, it's software specific. Before I explain this, the answer to your question about if the data is deleted automatically, is: for some games/apps, it is, and others, it's not. The data is usually stored on the sd card so you can check to see if you see a folder which was not there previously. Data for games are usually stored directly on the sd card, or the following folders: data/data, android/data, or gameloft/games. Phone's without an sd card slot will have the directory created for the data storage. Phone specific wise is explained in my previous sentence. Software specific wise is of course based on software. Certain roms allow you to choose the default location for apps to be installed to. On stock roms, apps are usually (if not always) installed directly to the internal memory and if the software is Android 2.2 (Froyo) or higher, you'll have the option to move some apps to the sd card.
Hello.
I bought my lg optimus l9 about a month ago and due to only 2.3gb of internal memory I can not move apps and games from phone memory to micro SD. Because of that my usage on this phone is limited.
I have tried to root it and have followed many online guides and videos but I just cant get it done.
My phone is kernel 3.0.21 and software version is P76010h-EUR-XX.
I would be so thankful to anyone who could lead me to the right direction and could help me get this phone rooted and apps moved to micro SD.
I know I can move them manually when the phone is connected with USB to PC, but isnt there a way I could move them in my phone, like my previous x10 mini had the Move to SD Card chance enabled, but in my new phone there is no such button or whatever.
I have also tried apps such as Link2SD but it doesent work, I believe that the device needs to be rooted and I cant get it done.
I have installed PC suite to my PC and followed root guides, I run the Bat file, do everything correctly, the phone restarts but there is no super user and also Root Checker app shows that my device is not rooted.
I feel so dissapointed in this phone beacause I can only keep limited apps and games on the phone due to low memory capacity.
If I could get this phone rooted and then mayby the Link2SD will help me get my apps and games moved to SD card, I would be so happy.
So please, if there is anyone who could help me, I would really need it beacause I am helpless at the moment and dont know what to do anymore.
I'm using the moveapps app and it works fine.
However, there are a few challenges.
1: Not all apps can be moved.
2: Apps go offline if you mount the SD card as a volume on the PC.
Is there a way to address either one of these issues? I saw some posts about adding some additional partitions to the SD card and even one about forcing an application to move.
Any thoughts experience around this?
I keep running out of space due to temp files or other on the internal memory. Maybe there's a way to setup another swap space area on the memory card for temp files?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Regards,
Mike
well, 2 is pretty obvious, since you unmount the SD from the phone if you want to use MSC mode. there's no way around it except using MTP transfer mode.
For 1 if u have root, you can acomplish it easily.
With linktosd, or similar
For my particular needs the answer is Link2SD. By using a separate partition for the applications, it's possible to:
1: Move the entire application, as opposed to a partial move offer by apps that don't require root access. Moveapps was what I was running.
2: Unmounting the SD card won't unmount the application partition, keeping the apps available when access the phone's main partition from a PC.
3: More space for apps in general Angry Birds and some other would take up a significant amount of main storage even with a partial move.
Why is this important? I've noticed when tethering the phone for internet access, the memory card needs to be unmounted. I don't know why this is the case, but it's an issue I've run into.

Hi,
another forum recommended I register and ask my question here. I am not a techie. I don't know what I'm doing. This is probably a basic question, but with all the googling I've done, I can't find the answer!
Here goes, and please be easy on me:laugh:
My GS3 was running really slow, running down the battery, just in general not running as well as I remembered from a year before buying it. I decided to back it up, reset it and start from scratch. The phone has run AWESOME! One problem though; when it updated, it installed 4.3. Ever since, I can't do anything with my SD card. I get an error that the SD card is full, and if I look in the settings, it shows zero space on the SD card. If I plug it into my mac, it shows like 12gb of space.
I used to use Android File Transfer and that doesn't work anymore. I recently tried Airdroid, which works great for the internal storage, but tells me that my SD card is full.
Help!
PS I tried to post a link to a screenshot of what storage on my phone looks like, but since I'm a noob, I'm not allowed
When you upgrade to android 4.3 it will change your storage partition from sdcard0 to emulated/0 ... simply it will change its partition so all your old files will not be visible there but they are still in your memory... I suggest you find your old files and move them to new directory... There are many threads on how to find your old files.. Search
