This doesn't seem to work for me. I did the following:
Followed the link to the Xposed framework thread.
Downloaded and installed the Xposed framework
Opened the Xposed installer tabbed on "Framework" then "install/update"
Rebooted my phone like instructed
Downloaded and installed the Multiwindow mod apk(not the 240dpi version) that was attached to the thread you posted
Opened Xposed Installer tabbed on "Modules" checked the mod
Rebooted my phone again
After the reboot the Multiwindow process keeps crashing on my phone.

[GUIDE]: HOVER/HALO/FLOATING WINDOW(WITHOUT FLOATIFICATIONS APP)Lollipop 5.1.1 Custom

Hi everybody! This thread is just to share my experience with the intention to help others who might benefit from this. I know there is a similar thread with the help of "FLOATIFICATIONS(FN)" app. But to my experience FN is a hit or miss on 5.1.1 and most of the time it does not work.
A little background....
Before coming to android 5.1.1 i was using PAC MAN ROM(KK-4.4.4). A great ROM. Among the cool features i liked most was that you have an option to open any notification in a floating window by long pressing it( yes Paranoid Android's "HOVER").But so far i did not find any lollipop 5.1.1 custom Rom which have this feature built into the Rom and XHALOFLOATINGWINDOW(Xposed Module) does not have this SystemUI mod for Android Lollipop(i think not even PA lollipop also so far). So after experimenting with many apps(including FN and Floatify and different sidebars)and mods, i have found a workaround which does exactly what i want and even better.
Things you will need:
1. Xposed installed (unofficial zip for 5.1.1 + official xposed installer alpha 4 apk)http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/super-alpha-posted-permission-xposed-t3072979
2. Xhalofloatingwindow v2.41( xposed module)http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpo...floatingwindow-v2-38-movable-t2419287/page299
3. Xbridge (xposed module)http://repo.xposed.info/module/daylemk.xposed.xbridge
3.Halo shortcuts( there are a couple of Halo shortcuts apps, anyone will do)http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2554118
4.Notifications shortcuts.(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.nicolai.buch.andersen.ns&hl=en)
STEPS:
1. As usual install xposed and the two modules. Activate the modules and reboot.( you wont see any xbridge icon on app drawer)
2. Install Halo shortcuts. (you wont see any Halo shortcuts icon on your app drawer)
3. Install Notifications shortcuts(NS).
4.Open NS and tap on blank boxes(PREVIEW) to create shortcut. Now select the second option(shortcuts and contacts)>then select halo shortcut>select activity> xbridge>and select that only option under xbridge.
5.Now on your notification drawer u can see an droid icon. Tap to open it. And turn on the "View in Xhalo" switch.Thats It. We r good to go. Now long pressing any notification will show you an option to open in xhalo/floating window.
NOTE: you can pin any app or shortcuts this way to your Notification drawer and they will open in HALO mode anywhere.
CAUTION:Unfortunately on Android 5.1.1 xhalofloatingwindow may cause bootloops after you reboot. Solution: clear dalvik and cache. Its annoying to see this"OPTIMIZING APPS". But until the dev zst123(Xhalo) updates his fantastic module, this is the only way i think.
BIG THANKS TO: zst123(xhalo),romracer(xposed for 5.1.1), lj3lj3(xbridge), rovo89(xposed), MainstreamStereotype(halo shortcuts),and Nicolai Buch-Andersen(Notifications Shortcut)
Most user's use gravity box, I would recommend using the app launcher option to launch multi windows, the only downside is it only allows for 12 apps to be used

.
Actually MANY users use custom Roms( derivatives of CM12/AOSP) instead of CM12 itself. And as per my experience most of the features available in Gravity Box are already there baked into those Roms. So in that situation(when you just need one or two features at most) i think its better to avoid Gravity Box(Its a combination of features in one single app).Apart from that Gravity Box LP is still a bit buggy and heavy. F.Y.K.I. i already tried Gravity Box LP and my conclusion is that my workaround is so far the easiest, practical and least resource consuming. The best thing is it integrates with lollipop notification system and gives me just what i wanted.
.................................Anyways....................thanks for your insight.

It should work on any Rom. After flashing Xposed zip and xposed installer you should clear dalvik and cache. And after rebooting open the xposed app and go to framework and see if there is green message that xposed is active. Also, after activating Xhalo, go to the xhalo tesing tab and open setting or xposed in floating window. If the test result is successful then my procedure should definitely work.
Thank for @matesurano, the approach of open floating window in notification works fine (on my new buy Nexus 9 with latest stock rom of Android 5.1.1, buy in on hTC official Taiwan website, which has a great sale in the beginning of Aug)
I also try Gravity app launcher through hola-shortcut for some app, it's great, too.
Just want to report one thing about the bootloop:
It seems to be a gambling for the bootloop, no-matter you make wipe dalvik/cache or not, and the app optimization is annoying.
I try to make a xml backup of Xhola app with Titanium-> clean the data-> reboot with quick boot-> recovery the data of Xhola app with Titanium
I have made a 5 times straight boot without bootloop( and of cause no app optimization, don't need to wipe with TWRP)
I think it's worth to give a try with Titanium for bootlooping/app optimization.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::laugh:

Hi there, first u should test if xhalo is working in the xhalo test area. Also go through xhalo settings menu properly. As you are on android 5.0, u better try the version 2.41.

Thanks I will I notice that the test area work but if I exit the app and try to open more than 1 the first one closes. Update I was able to figure it out I have to be inside the xhalo app for me to be a ablw to open multiple apps at a time using multiwindow side launcher . also as my tablet doesn't have a working recovery like cwm or twrp I don't want to put something that can break it.

Hi mates
Working on Oneplus Slimsaber 5.1.1
There is a new a Xhalo version for lollipop that seems works better
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64965531&postcount=3236
By the way @matesurano I had in my SGS2 rom the option to open the floating app swiping left the notification.
Do you know if it's possible with this method?
Thanks for this great tutorial

Hi there! do u mean the stock rom or custom in SGS2?! Anyways.....as far as i know, systemUi mods(specially swiping or single tapping are not possible with xhalo in Lollipop. But, Blisspop lollipop(not in MM yet) roms have implemented exactly the same features i.e. u can open the headsup notification in floating window simply by tapping it once or long press the notification in notification tray and get an option to open it in floating window. All these without any xposed module. Quite neat indeed!
