[Q] 4.1.1 Jellybean update received & downloaded but not being installed in my HTC Dx
I am using HTC Desire X, Indian Model. My phone is rooted and CWM recovery is there. Today I received jelly bean update(OTA) from HTC. But I am not able to install it. when I try to install it its come like a phone symbol with" ! "mark and stops there. can anyone help me?
You can only do the OTA update with stock recovery.
Search for a stock recovery or run a RUU.

Did you unrooted the device or relocked the bootloader at any point for the ota update?
Enviado desde mi Desire X desde la app de xda-developers
Already device is unrooted and relocked. But this happened long ago. Not at the time of OTA update.

No need to relock Bootloader.
Follow these steps.
1. Unlock Bootloader.
2. Flash Stock Recovery : Tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36138826&postcount=2
Use the stock recovery.img attached here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39658620&postcount=1
3. Recheck for Software Update and Download the update.
It should work for you. Everything should be stock and bootloader status doesn't matter.

Sorry Shadow,
But relocking was not necessary for me. I have done the OTA using an unlocked bootloader with just the stock recovery which I flashed. Again sorry if I am wrong.

I am not sure why you had that problem, But I can confirm it works without relocking bootloader. Just check this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37436982&postcount=77
you need to relock bootloader only if you run ruu
Hey guys,
Just have a question: I have an EVO 3D GSM here next to me. It only gives me a Bootloop, nothing else. Now I want to revert to Stock with a RUU.
Must the Bootloader be unlocked oder locked for reverting to Stock via RUU?
Version Main: 3.28.401.1
S-ON

You dont need to lock the bootloader, just flash the RUU, your device will remain s-off after reflash.
And it's not an Problem to have S-ON? Or will the Evo 3D gain S-OFF after using the RUU?
Thx in Advance

you can flash the ruu if you are s-on or s-off it doesnt matter,
the phone will not gain s-off or lock it self if is already unlocked by flashing a ruu.
Ok we ran the RUU in Fastboot USB Mode.
Now we got the Error 155.
There is standing that we need the right Rom Update Utility Programm
But the RUU is for the 3.28.401.1 Version and the Phone is 3.28.401.1 .
Can you give us a Link for the right RUU?
BTW: The Evo 3D is the GSM Version and it's unlocked.

If you're s off you don't need to relock, you can run ruu through bootloader
If you're s on, you have to relock and you cannot run through bootloader.

if you want to lock relock without htc devs your gonna need soff. use firewater for 2.49 hboot. once soff, use scotty's method for lock and unlock bootloder.
once soff, install twrp recovery. it will ask if you want to root on exit.
