Hello Desire V users!
I've compiled the twrp recovery for HTC Desire V (T328w). I used to have this phone and I built a twrp from source for it now. Since I don't have the phone for a year, I asked a friend to test it, and he says it's allright.
So here it is:
I share these but since I don't have the phone I will not be able to offer much of support.
My device folder is here: https://github.com/carliv/android_device_HTC_Desire_V
Credits: Dees_Troy and the TWRP developers team.

Thanks for the recovery its working fine

That's great @AKA_Noodle. I used to own the Galaxy i9003 and have experience in testing ROMs, customizing, boat ware removal etc. for 10 months. I have just bought a Desire V yesterday and this is my first HTC. I am getting to know the difference.
I have followed your post and am going to ROOT the phone in a couple of days. I am giving my stock 7 days for the just in case hardware issues with my handset. Post that I will unlock the bootloader and free my device. I am ready for testing and development.
And by the way,
Congratulations to all. We finally have a dedicated thread for our phone.
Thanks @AKA_Noodle, i use the European Rom, great
Guys,
I don't own this device, but I'm interested in developing for it.
I believe I could try to port a ROM or two from the desire X to this device, if anyone would test it.
The only thing I need to know is: do you guys have android 4.0.4 or 4.0.3?

Thanks. I hope that little difference doesn't affect the ROM.
I don't have time in this week, but I'll try to get you guys a ROM next week.

I'm interested with HTC Desire V Rom Development. And I will first make CM10, then MIUI, etc. I'm following the tutorials at XDA.
Finally i have device tree ready for HTC DESIRE V The next task is to download sources for CM9 ( takes a hell lot of time :/ ) and start working on it, hopefully with community's help, it will be completed
i will be uploading the device tree soon, so anyone can help me building it..
I'm waiting for that CM9, because all other ROMs I tried are disappointing. I posted here earlier a version for Baidu ROM but turns out that was also buggish.
So, please someone make a Cyanogenmod for this phone.
yeah... please develop a CM9/10 version for this dual sim phone ///
Until today, i still can't find an easy way to root my device. LOL!

I did some snooping - it turns out that it's buggish because we are using the nightly builds version of the Baidu . The official version is V4:

I know, but my version was from that stable one, which is based on version 27. Still it had some "things" because for Baidu stable not means final, it's a project in developement. I guess, if no one develop a CM for our device we'll have to wait for some final Baidu.
One other thing is that they develop Baidu to integrate with their service (let's not forget that Baidu is Google for China), and it will be more suitable to users from China .
Too bad that HTC couldn't release a ROM without bugs. Baidu, even in beta, didn't restart my phone randomly like HTC rom did (stock version too), and I have a friend with Wildfire stock, unrooted, untouched which do the same. Maybe it is something with HTC rom platform, I don't know.
I don't think it is hardware, because if it was, Baidu would restart too.
For developement
I just finished to try every single open source of android to make a new build for this phone and my conclusion is not good.
HTC announced that this phone will not get JellyBean - understandable 1 single core processor, 512 MB Ram, not enough.
That will be a huge obstacle in order to get Paranoid, PAC or Slimbean to this phone - they mentain those sources now only for jellybean. Or for jellybean, we need a new kernel to support that. And even so, we can not know if it will work - poor phone specs.
Cyanogenmod doesn't support DualSim, and I bought this phone for that function only.
MIUI doesn't support DualSim either - I know there are a lot of dualsim phones with MIUI, but these are ported not compiled from source - and MIUI source isn't public (what they have on github is a patch tool, wich doesn't work very well, especially with HTC phones which are more difficult).
LewaOS has a source open on github, but is only for Gingerbread - if they upgrade this it will be our best alternative, because LewaOS is a very stable, fast and reliable ROM, and works well even in low specs phones. Baidu ROM seems to be at the begining some port of LewaOS (I still found some mediatek references in baidu, and mediatek is the main processor for Lewa).
So, we're stuck with Sense...

None, it's a hardware issue. I took it to a service shop and then I sold it and never bought a HTC again.

I need devices to develop for!

Hey guys! After a long time of taking a break from the Android world and focusing more on school I am finally coming back and coming back strong! But before I can start my big plans I need a device or two to develop for. I own a Galaxy Note 3 but I really do not like developing for it since we do not have an Unlocked Bootloader yet.
I am a Samsung Fanboy so I know TouchWiz inside and out! I also have plenty of experience with the stock Android OS. I currently do NOT make source builds but if you have the source code then I will be glad to!
All of my builds will be built on my Dedicated Server and uploaded on a fast 1GBPS port! I will develop for pretty much any device as long as it either has source code or is compatible with the Kitchen.
I can theme, build ROMs, and very little Kernel work. Let me know what devices you want me to dev for and what you would like to see in a ROM. I can start working very soon!
Thanks for your time!

Hello!
I have ZTE V985 (Grand Era), and he has only 4.0.4
It is sad, bacause we have kernel source and HTC One X (they are similar) already have CM11

Port kernel [need kernel developpers]

Hi everyone, we face a real issue on HTC one Mini 2 community.. it seems that android 5.0 has been cancelled for us ..
I come to you to ask for a kernel developpers to make a port of the kernel from HTC desire 816 who's close to the HTC one Mini 2 .
I will open a thread for that and will ask for donation if necessary .
I hope u hear my message.
Thank you
Your main issue will be that few have that device. Also porting a kernel is not that easy. It will take drivers for that device. You may never get anything other then an aosp based port but again without kernel source that may not be an option due to the huge changes in the whole OS.

[ROM][26May][GNU/Linux] Sailfish OS 2.0.1.11 (community port)

Announcing Sailfish for the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact!
This is not Android!
This should be thought of as a development experiment. It may be useful if you are a developer and want to write/port apps the the Sailfish operating system. It is not an end-user product, however, if you wish to experiment and try something different then feel free!
Please do not contact Jolla Care or Jolla Developer Care, as this is not the Jolla phone.
Special thanks to:
rss351 and locusf for the collaborative effort in porting SailfishOS to the Z3 compact
Everyone from the SailfishOS team/community, sledges and mal- in particular.
All Cyanogenmod devs, since SailfishOS uses drivers from Cyanogenmod to talk with the phone's hardware
Known issues:
Bluetooth isn't turned on, cause i've put no effort in for that so far
Camera doesn't work, cause it's not hooked up to interface.
No recovery inside hybris bootimage (you need to flash manually to return to cm/use recovery)
Sensors dont work (auto-adjust brightness, etcetera)
The Jolla account/store functionality is not enabled. This is being worked on by Jolla. In the meantime: use openrepo's warehouse (see bottom of this post)
What works:
Booting, basic usage of the OS itself (browsing, etc)
Texting, calling, data over mobile network (2g and 3g tested, 4g should work but is untested)
Wifi (both 2,4 and 5 GHz)
Power management seems to work fine (not tested much though)
Looking around and getting a feel for SailfishOS
Using your phone to develop and debug SailfishOS apps.
Installation guide/checklist:
Insert default warranty void message here. Your warranty is now void
Make a backup (just to be sure)
Depending on what you need from your phone, this may not be a rom suitable for daily driving with. But installation is non-destructive to your existing rom, so if you're curious, give SailfishOS a try
I have not tested this on locked bootloaders, but since I needed to modify the kernel, I guess that you need an unlocked bootloader.
Note this is not an official Sailfish OS build, and the Xperia Z3c is not a Jolla phone, so please don't report bugs to Jolla. If you want to report a bug, this thread is perfectly fine for that.
BEWARE: this image is NOT optimized for security. The phone boots in development mode by default. There is a root shell on telnet port 2323. This is not secure and will give anyone who wants it remote access to your phone. When the port matures this will be fixed.
The Sailfish OS image does not provide recovery, and since the Xperia Z3c does not have a recovery partition, you need a bootimage with recovery on it to flash cm/stock/sailfishos upgrade. I highly recommend using Nut's Xperia files for this. Use the boot.img from your Cyanogenmod installation.
The Sailfish OS image is based on a recent version of Cyanogenmod 12.1, so update your Cyanogenmod installation while you are at it. Use cm-12.1-20160523-NIGHTLY-z3c.zip if you encounter issues with other versions. Using another rom is not guaranteed to work, even if this rom is based on Cyanogenmod.
You can find the required zip in this Mega folder: https://mega.nz/#F!ucoRnDjD!WAHNWgxLQX5SK1Vdu8MRWw
Use your favorite recovery (but not CM's recovery since that checks for signatures, which this image does not have) to flash the zip.
If you want to return to Cyanogenmod, extract boot.img from your cm-12 zip and flash that with fastboot. Alternatively you can restore a previous backup. There is no need to re-flash Cyanogenmod because it was not removed by installing SailfishOS. You can remove the /data/.stowaways/sailfishos/ folder afterwards to reclaim disk space.
FAQ
You can find a FAQ which mentions most common user questions for SailfishOS here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/jolla-sailfish/general/qa-sailfish-n4-thread-devices-t2727330 . It's mainly aimed to the Nexus 4 and 5, but it's fairly applicable for all other ports as well.

Sources
You can find all used source code (may not be up-to-date to the latest image, but all key components are there) here: https://github.com/xperiasailors/
Installing OpenRepos warehouse
OpenRepos warehouse is like what F-Droid is versus Google's Play store. An unofficial, community-driven repository of open source apps.
Go to settings->developer options and set a password. Then open a terminal or connect over ssh to your phone (ssh [email protected]_of_phone).
Download the latest version of the warehouse app from here: https://openrepos.net/content/basil/warehouse-sailfishos
When you are asked to terminate packagekit anywhere in the steps below, answer yes.
Code:
$ devel-su
# zypper rr adaptation0
# zypper in <location_of_rpm_you_downloaded>
After this Warehouse app will be in your app launcher.
Impressive work! :good:

Edit: just stayed on sony screen. Would it be because I came from SLiMM 1.8 ROM and not from a CM based ROM?

Probably, yes.
SailfishOS uses libhybris for hardware communication, which in turn uses the existing Cyanogenmod installation for drivers and proprietary blobs. But hybris is compiled against a certain Cyanogenmod version, so using other roms as a base might fail.
I've updated the TS and put the exact CM version I used in there, that should work fine.

No news, I don't spend much time on this port, every now and then I fiddle around with it an evening.
I'm currently trying to get AOSP based Sailfish port because Cyanogenmod for Z3c seems unmaintained, but progress is very slow.
Thank you for the info. Do you know when a version (sailfish port) comes out?
Hello! Thanks for your work. May i know the progress ?
it would be great to see a real "european" OS coming out of the dust...
i hate the thought that any company from the other side of the atlantic are wheels in the monster of patriot act...
@maikoool Any news about new build or something?
Yes, look here:
https://nokius.net/SFOS/scorpion/PreAlpha/
But still no Cam, no BT, No Sensors and No video playback
AFAIK is the 'scorpion' the Z3 Tablet compact, so not the Z3 compact. The base images will probably be the same.
I've recently rolled a build using AOSP 5.1 from the Sony Xperia developer pages, but my Z3c has developed an issue where the top and bottom of the screen don't function, so I cannot test properly.
