Hi all.
My Galaxy Note II (7100) is currently running on OMEGA v27 Kitkat 4.2.2.
To get Realtime Location Updates for AccuWeather i decided to activate in the ==> Location - Mode--==> the Locating Method
==>>Power-Saving-Mode--. The description therefore says, Uses Wifi and mobile networks to estimate your location.
But everytime, when i activate the settings as described before, it automatically enables GPS as well.(a lot of power consumption)
Does anyone have a workaround to fix this issue.
I guess this is NOT the same prob as reported by the known GPS Kitkat Bug.
BTW,...succesfully updated 1h ago to OMEGA v28 Kitkat 4.2.2. still the same issue.
Thanks

Hi
I have a Galaxy S2 running Cyanogen Mod 7.1 Nightly Build 116 - this seemed to run the L2TP/IPSec VPN with no real problems over my phone network, I now have the Siyah kernel 2.5.2 installed via CWM runs great good battery life - only problems I've found Google Books refuses to open - force close everytime and my VPN (L2TP/IPSec) refuses to work properly over the phone connection.
It connects correctly - and when I visit a website it loads for about 5-6secs then the phone hard locks I have to hold the power button down and then turn back on. Strangely this problem does not occur if I VPN over my home Wifi - works great
I am new so I cannot post (less than 10 entries) to siyah's development thread - does anyone have a similar issue? My only option is to redo the 116 build and stick with cyanogens standard kernel, unless someone has a solution (exactly the same problems with siyah 2.5.1 GT)
Thanks
HI Krazeyivan
I have similar issue while using my at&t variant galaxy s2/i777 which turns off after connecting to hideipvpn server using L2TP/IPSEC VPN. It used to work fine on my galaxy S device but not on s2 for unknown reason.
I tried the same settings on Xperia play and it works just fine.
I am hoping that someone would post a solution for this, if not I still have 29 days to return the device for another branded one. Until then fingers crossed.
Please post it here on the thread if you find any solution.
alternate solution i guess: strong VPN with PPTP VPN but there is no trial offer and you have to pay 21 usd for three months (min pckg). Dont know if it works for sure, but it has encryption disabled and DNS to be filled in, looks promising but i found some forums where people complain that strong vpn PPTP is useless.
alright cheers now
You should try the stock kernel from CM. There is not much difference anyway.
Stock kernel is no help for me, I've tried few roms and kernels mixed, But it doesn't fix
about a month a go I loaded a custom rom
[ROM][PORT][4.2.1][AOKP/CM] Vanilla RootBox v3.6 [31/01][Per-App-DPI][PIE]
since than when i go to google maps or navigation it says waiting for location and than after a few mins it says your current location is currently unavailble. when i check the location acccess option the wi-fi and mobile network location is disabled. when I enable it it does seem to find where i am but uses data to keep updateing. so I disabled it. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the GPS opetion to work and find me so I can use the navigation again.
thanks.
This is my first post here, so I made sure I checked the forum for previous issues that may relate to my problem, to no avail (nothing that matches exactly).
Basically, I can't tether anymore, it was working fine last week, but now my other devices will connect, but with "Limited or no Connectivity" (Laptop and iPod Touch). I have a data plan and tethering access through my provider (Rogers in Canada)
Here's is what I have:
Samsung Galaxy S4
Rooted (TWRP installed)
Custom ASOP 4.2.2 ROM installed (DEODEX)
Custom ASOP Kernel
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342298)
As of this morning, tethering has ceased to function, as stated above, I can enable and my devices can see the network, but they will never acquire internet access after connection, even though I have full signal and the phone itself has internet access
Please note, tethering was working on this ROM (but not the kernel) last week.
I would post this in the ROM thread, but I’m unable to do so as I cannot post in the developer board until I have 10+ posts under my belt
Bump (Update)
Anyone else out there encountering this issue?
I have been trying to figure out the root of the issue ever since my original post, but still not too much further. Seems that as soon as I revert to my touchwiz ROM, all works as it should, but any custom ROM I try (and I've tried many), tethering does not work. I have verified the APN settings are the same on the touchwiz version (stock ROM) and the custom ROMs that I've tried todate, very frustrating and I can't seems to find anyone with the same problem. I even call Rogers and had them remove and readd the tethering flag on my account, to no avail.
Howdy,
Found the solution to my tethering issues, simply go to the Play Store and search for this app:
ISWAT Tether Unlocker Free
There will be a rather obnoxiously loud app that will play before it performs the operation to unlock your tethering, but afterwards, it works as it does with the stock ROM. You're free to uninstall the app afterwards and you'll retain your tethering abilities
Ever since moving to 4.4 based roms I've been unable to get a stable vpn connection over cellular... I've been unable to find a fix.
I run my own openvpn access server, and I've tried private internet access vpn and I always get disconnected after 5 minutes... happens on LG g3 and galaxy nexus.
Has Google fixed this in 5.0? Or has anyone else fixed this in the communities? Kinda need it.
I'm having the same problem on both phones on AT&T, my Galaxy S4 with Goldfinger Rom
And my Galaxy Mega 6.3 with MegaKat V15.
Private Internet Access keeps disconnecting and reconnecting and I can't find a solution anywhere
For years I've been using apps that change sound profiles (e.g. Tasker) when I am near cell towers or wifi routers WITHOUT the need for location/GPS to be enabled. When I upgraded to Android 9.0 Pie wifi polling stopped working when location is not enabled. I read that cell polling is also not working.
My desire is to have this functionality (near cell / wifi polling) WITHOUT the requirement of location to be enabled in Android settings. I simply do not want my location to be tracked quite precisely 24/7.
Is there a solution or some workaround to this problem? Maybe some additional apps, Magisk modules, custom roms or something else? At least I would like to have the option to disable GPS if location is enabled (there is no such option in stock Android). I have a rooted Smasung Galaxy S9+.
Ohhhh I don't know
PoochyXXX
How are you guys using Tasker on Android 9?! It's a popular app with 1M+ downloads and I can't believe that noone is sharing any experience with Pie!
