Stuck at Samsung Boot Screen after wiping Internal Storage - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Device: Rooted Verizon Galaxy S4 (MDK).
1. Wiped/Formatted internal storage via TWRP
2. Rebooted back into Recovery
3. Flashed new ROM
4. Flashed GAPPS
5. Rebooted phone and setup new ROM.
6. Worked great.
7. Rebooted phone
8. Stuck on Samsung Custom Screen
I'm able to boot back into recovery, just not sure what to do now. This happens every time no matter what ROM I flash. I have a feeling I effed something up by wiping internal storage. Just need to know how to fix. Thank you very much in advance.

If nothing you've tried so far has gotten you past this issue have you tried using Odin no wipe to start over?
Also what ROMs have you tried? Have you tried any custom kernels?
Is your recovery up to date?

I thought ODIN No-Wipe was for non-MDK?
Vanir and Carbon are the ROMs I tried.
I haven't tried custom kernels, nor do I know if TWRP is up to date. I'll check those out, thank you.

No Odin is for all our S4's no matter what build. Here are the MDK files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2289325
I'd say first though to update your recovery. Then I always use KToonsez Kernel myself with every ROM I run and can say I've never had an issue . I have seen a lot of problems like yours that were kernel related and one way to test that would be to flash his kernel ( KToonsez ) after the ROM you've already tried before.

Just make sure you use the mdk tar file. There's instructions in that thread as well. Make sure you root it soon after restoring it and freeze SDM with Titanium Backup asap. Don't want to lose that boot loader

Well I'm not really sure what your saying... I think you mean recovery?
As far as recoveries your choices are TWRP or a version of CWM.
Odin is just the tool we primarily use to flash stock firmwares back on our phones as well as certain recoveries like Philz (cwm) .
I'd say just load up the MDK stock firmware using odin.
Root the phone.
Freeze SDM
Then for sake of easiness use ROM manager or Goo from the play store to install your recovery.

Ok as long as you have the correct tar file that goes with your i9505 s4 you'll be good. You can still root using that root method and install a custom recovery.
I'm not familiar with your phone model and the builds , tar files. So just make sure your flashing the right one in odin.
If you have any doubt find the forums on here specifically for your phone and ask someone. Please.
Try switching out your USB cable and also make sure you have the Samsung USB drivers installed.

Galaxy Mega 6.3 Sprint Version : SPH-L600 Stock firmwares with root: Flashable Zips

I do not own this phone.
This thread will provide custom recovery ( CWM/TWRP ) flashable zip files of the stock frmware without knox software. This way you need not upgrade using OTA and hence will be able to move between stock and custom firmware if need to.
If you use OTA to upgrade to the latest firmware, your bootloader will be upgraded to facilitate knox. Once updated there is no going back. The roms in this thread will help you overcome this issue.
The only prerequisite is that you are not already running a knox enabled bootloader. You can find this out by going into download mode and checking if knox entries are shown in bootloader screen.
You will have the following advantages.
Bootloader is not touched, hence any compatible rom can be flashed, including custom roms
Only Samsung knox files are removed
Root & Busybox
Stock kernel
Deodexed
Zipaligned
Procedure
Download the Odin version of Philz recovery or my custom twrp recovery and flash.
Reboot to recovery first else custom recovery will be replaced by stock recovery.
Flash the ROM zip file
Reboot and Njoy...
As an additional step, you can flash the modem that comes with the ROM. The procedure to flash the modem is given below.
Use Odin v3.04
Untick Autoreboot
Flash modem
Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Vol Down plus Home button combi)
Flash Modem once more
Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.
Downloads
All files can be downloaded from my Mega folder. Choose the mega link and select SPH-L600 STOCK FIRMWARE folder. MD5 hash values are available in a separate file inside the folder.

Well now that I'm over being a wise guy, I think what I'm reading is that with this apk you can do outbound calls and texts, just not on LTE. Is that correct? And is the phone apk rom specific? Like so many others, I'm guessing, I'm really itching to ditch the Sprint stock rom. But wait... just this second for the umpteenth time my phone is telling me that I have left the network with roaming turned off (sitting in my living room, smack dab in the middle of an LTE coverage area.) This is killing me!! Haha!!

You shouldn't have this problem on a stock ROM. I suggest you flash the modem that came with the ROM. Its available as a separate Odin flashable tar file.

Yeah that's what I think. I downloaded it the other day so I'll do that this morning. As an aside, I really need to dig in and learn how to do this (cook/build,) but I'm a school teacher with almost no time to devote to my own education in this regard. I have been looking around at some of the guides but there is some much information that I'm not really sure where to start (suggestions?). I tend to be a bit obsessive/compulsive when it comes to technology, so much so that my friends and family often start to wonder "what happened to me." I imagine others can relate. On spring break this week; time to play.
Thank you.

Very funny, Mr.Nair. And I'm an English teacher to boot! I would relish having someone with experience to mentor me. Just to show you how much teachers look forward to their breaks(read mental exhaustion,) I discovered today that after flashing a custom recovery and rooting this little Sprint demon the other day, I had NOT flashed the firmware you uploaded. Can't believe I didn't do that. This came to light after I flashed the CM ROM for I9205 (I know, NOT recommended, but I did it for kicks.) Your CM build installed beautifully, and I was able to connect to WiFi, but of course I didn't have a cell data connection. I flashed the L600 modem in Odin a couple times on top of CM and applied various settings using the phone apk moosiemooses linked and eventually did get a mobile data connection, but I couldn't make it persistent. I wound up restoring the nandroid I made the other day; this is when I discovered that I hadn't flashed the firmware version in your Mega folder. So I did that after lunch today, flashed the modem twice and after a bit of fiddling all seems to be working well. I'm fairly new to this carrier and the network seems a bit finicky, but that's just my opinion. I spent most of the day doing this, and I think I learned something in the process, just not clear about what that is exactly.<g>
Thanks.
Carl

I don't think freeza 's stockish NH7 will work, it will remove the twrp recovery, and replace it with stock one. Which you cannot replace without a PC.

Can't you use freeza's rom then use Flashify the recovery or Mobile Odin Pro?
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
Now you might want to reconsider going to 4.4.4. You need to read up, there is a lot of problems with this update. The main complaint is a loss of signal strength. The other problem is that the 4.4.4 backup will have personal info in it, most people will not give that up. If you can get your hands on a backup, you will have to download it to you device, move it to your sd card twrp backup file. Now once you try and restore the backup, you will end up with a md5 mismatch error. To correct this, you need to get a root type file explorer like root explorer, then go to the backup file that failed and click on it. Now delete the nandroid.md5, and click to add a file and reinstall another nandriod.md5 file where the old one was, check permissions. Ok, try the backup file again. This time the system will ignore the empty nandroid.md5 file and install the backup.

So now take the over the air update so it will get your bootloader, modem, and kernel to 4.4.4 then you can install a custom recovery and flash any 4.4+ rom.

Sent to me? If so, I haven't gotten it.
Clean flash. On first boot it got to Google log in screen, maps fc'd and it let me log in to Google, but on accepting my password went to this and hung there until I had to restore backup. I'm at work and kind of jump the gun, will test more when home.

Edit: I really should have rebooted to see what happened, work got in the way. Try again later

thx...sounds like the same results @benny3 had, not sure if this is due to s-on or firmware
@OMJ it booted fine for me on wipe and clean flash. Running now no issues yet, and no FC like the other.

INMAN85 just to be clear...you're s-on, with the same firmware from stock retail M9? also, which specific recovery are u using? thx
My clean flash didn't work as you know J. I did a dirty flash after a nand restore and it's running great. I noticed I am able to write to the extsd now for backups. Will continue to test. I am on firmware 1.32.651.17. Using TWRP 2.8.6.3 from Captain. With the beta SU v2.48.
I’m unlocked with TWRP, can test any time!
One thing I noticed with the dirty flash, when usb debugging is on, my pc doesn't see the phone. With it off, I can transfer files. It does charge either way.

Tried another clean install this time from the internal storage. Still had the same problem during setup. Seems setup gets interrupted and restarts setup again. It's a continuous loop. Almost like a bootloop with out the rebooting. You can tell processes are running in the back ground. Because when you turn off the display and back on again, in lock screen I am getting emails and apps are updating text are coming threw and voice mail.

Would you kindly post a link to the link got 2.8.6.3.. I believe the issues are due to an old version of twrp recovery.
rom tesing
i'm down. i have twrp. i rendered my m9 useless so i'll flash away. i don't have a valid backup to restore to as i didn't make one before flashing a UK rom by mistake.

This might not help you just yet. It won't complete setup to bootup normally. Unless OMJ would link you to a completely stock rom.

I'm in the same boat. A completely stock rom would be wonderful. My backup somehow got corrupted and fails to restore.
