Using the stock email app on 4.1.2 (and before I realized there was an option to send a bcc to myself) I sent several emails through Rogers while set up using pop instead of IMAP. So right now I have a number of sent emails that aren't on the server.
I don't want to lose the messages, and while I have figured out that you can open the sent folder, and then individually open and save a copy of each email, I don't want to do that (and it doesn't save the attachments either). I thought maybe I could select them all and forward at once, or save at once, or move them to another folder to sync with the server... but I can't. And I can't come up with a solution.
I thought maybe K-9 would have an option I could use, but I can't figure out how to import the settings from the stock app.
There must be a way to do this besides the one-by-one saving? Thanks for any insight.

I thought maybe I just hadn't searched long enough, or I wasn't using the right terminology, but there really isn't a solution for this, is there? I have found several cases where someone like me is wondering how to import their saved emails from stock to another program, or back them up in bulk, but I've never seen anyone answered (even here!).
So I have another question... would anyone be able to point me to documentation on where the stock app saves email info? Or has anyone tried to create an app to do this or something related to the stock email app at all, so I could peek at it? It's been a (long) while since I've done any programming, but it might be fun to poke around and try to figure out something that would be useful.

hi there!
I know this is my first post, but im from germany and there was no solution on the german forums out there for this.
My problem:
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Honeycomb 3.1 and the new Touchwiz from Samsung. All works quite fine.
And i like the Email App from Touchwiz very much, but why the hell does it not store any Emails on the device, when they are sent from the device?
So i have a couple of IMAP-Email-Accounts configured and they work fine, but when i sent an email from the device, it wount get stored in any of those "Outbox"-folders or "SENT"-Folders...
Is it just me haveing this wrong configured or is ist a bug?
Small hint, the IMAP-Email-Accounts are not google-mail-accounts.
The Samsung Email-Client seems to store the sent items in a different local folder but i cant reach it and dont know his name....
EDIT:
Maybe its enoug if some one with an rooted device and touchwiz ux could tell me, in witch folders the sent emails are stored local if it is not a google-mail-account...
same problem here... thought it was just me.
same for me also!! Frustrating that they not can make the basic function working.
And if some one could tell me, where to report this issue back at samsung, i would report this bug or problem. But after searching for hours i still cant get the right support for touchwiz ux problems...
Still having this frustrating problem...can someone share a info, how to conntact the dev-team of touchwiz-ux?
Is there anyone else having the same problem with sent items in your touchwiz-email-app?
I have the same issue and haven't found a solution yet.
This may be helpful to some of you. I noticed that after the recent software upgrade, my incoming server setting had been reset from pop3 (my preference) to android.imap.mail.yahoo.com and my outgoing to android.smtp.mail.yahoo.com. I created a new account, set as the default, using my original pop3 setting for incoming (pop.mail.yahoo.com) and removing the "android" prefix from the outgoing, and choosing the "never delete email from server" option. Once this was done, I deleted the account that used imap.
Everything seems to be working fine now, including the sent folder, and I'm also now retaining all original received emails on the server (which is key for me -- I synch three different devices). The only concern I have left is why the update defaulted to imap over pop3 and whether I may be overriding some features or functionality inadvertently by changing those settings.
My problem is that the default email app doesn't sent the emails with the same extension, meaning that any of my co workers that has the same @XYZ.com and even to myself the app doesn't send it.
Any advise on how to solve this out, or suggestion on other email app that looks as clean as the default? I have try the k9 and other like it but I do like the two windows format to see the emails.
thanks in advance
Hi all,
Does anyone know how to forward a message using the native gmail app on android to a group of contacts already established on gmail? I often need to forward an email to a group of employees but have found no way to do it other than logging on to gmail on the computer which isn't very efficient. I've searched quite extensively but have found no solution. It seems hard to believe - anyone know how to do it, or know of a third party app that works with gmail to do so? I'd really appreciate any response!

Well I don't know about a group. But you can add as many as you like. Just tested a mass Email to 35 people. Just open up the message. On the right hand side towards the top you'll see a star, an arrow facing left, and a triangle facing left. Press the triangle and a menu will pop up Reply, Reply All, and Foward. Then when box pops up for send to just add as many Contacts as you'd like.
Yes, that works, thanks, but then I'd have to memorize the names or emails of everyone in my group which isn't my strong point (especially for groups with lots of members)....

A backwards way of doing this, I figured out, is to copy the message text you want to forward to a group and then go into a program like Go Contacts, select the group you want, click email all, then paste the text into the email body. A bit cumbersome bit the only solution I can find. Anyone else have any other more straightforward solution? I can't believe the gmail app wont allow for this.

Has anyone tried Contact Lookup Pro for contact searching (particularly for groups) and then bulk emailing?

I use Group Contact Manager Pro application. It has option "Copy all email addresses to clipboard." which make possible to paste all group addresses into forwarded email. Maybe it is not perfect solution but at least it is a real forward displaying as such in gmail.
Every time I open contacts it tries to sync with at&t address book. I want to stop this from happening. Any thoughts?
Go into setting-accounts and sync and remove AT&T account. Then go into contact settings-display options and make sure you don't have it checked(if it's an option anymore). Hope that helps.
Edit:looks like in display options, the first phone is for AT&T. Just go into that and uncheck em all.
i dont see any of those settings ...
If you've ever accepted the at&t backup option before, on any phone, you'll have to call up customer care and have them remove it for you. If you've never used it before, you should be able to cancel the operation when it prompts you and it shouldn't pop up again
Edit: I see that you're on Telus so obviously you haven't used it before lol.. You may have to find the service in titanium backup and freeze it to keep it from trying to contact at&t every time you open the address book. I'm sure other ppl using at&t notes have run into this problem before..
Go into main settings then accounts and sync to remove the AT&T account. Once that's done go into contacts and hit the capacitive menu button. Hit more and you'll see display options. Hit that and you'll see all your options to show contacts. hit each one and check off what you want. I prefer google only, but if all your contacts are on your Sim then use the bottom phone option.

I've successfully removed it before without calling them after I've synced. Let me do a little more digging and I'll let you know if there's anything else to do.

Not to confuse the OP, but found an easier way. Go into contacts and hit settings button. Hit more and choose accounts. you'll see all the accounts that are synced including AT&T. Press it and remove.
Edit:if that doesn't work, I got nothing else. The only other thing is to go into contacts, settings, more, settings and choose to save contacts to anything but phone. If you don't do that I think it will continue to sync when you add a new contact. Good luck!

Anyone else having same problem. None of these solutions is useful because they assume options, settings, or items that aren't present.
The Contacts app launches with a dialog about "subscriber" information for AT&T even tho one is not on that telco. Anyone else had this exact problem, understand why these solutions can't work, and found one that does?
I am currently using The Unofficial 2.0 Beta 4 and installed the inverted app kit found through the tools provided in the rom. This is what fixed the problem for me.
You can't remove it. It's not part of the sync providers. The AT&T rom comes with a custom-built Contacts.apk and it's integrated with Android. You'll have to just find/download/use a different Contacts app from the Play Store.
I think however, that removing the AT&T bloatware makes it stop nagging for the AT&T Address Book sync.
I've tried replacing /system/app/Contacts.apk from other ICS builds and it would crash when trying to open Contacts.
If you are on ICS, you can disable it from app management under all... look in the "S's" for Sync then click disable. It may still launch a few times because it is in RAM. So launch it a few times and hit cancel. Reboot and launch contacts again and hit cancel. It should go away after that. If you did sign up for that servce you can disable it online (if you are on ATT).
Since you are on Telus, I am guessing you are running one of the ICS leaks or custom ROMs that use one as a base.

Thanks man
Root then remove AABSync.apk from /system/app directory seems to work fine. Left a copy on SD just in case.
Old Thread, Just to help out though, I stumbled on contacts+ in the android market, it works well.:good:
This worked for me.
On my Galaxy S3 mini, running JB. Contacts, settings, contacts to display. I selected my gmail only. No more AT&T.
I have just fixed this problem via another forum (as the issue is the phone's address book trying to sync with the online AT&T address book).
Go to the Dial keypad and enter *#*#2666#*#. That will bring up the AAB Setting. Click on Registration, and change the setting from 'Initialized' to 'Completed' . That will stop your address book trying to sync with online At&T address book
When I go to share something, such as a picture, there's a short list that comes up (Facebook, Twitter, Messages, Mail, then See all). Is there a way we can change what these are?
For example, I already went into the app associations and changed the default mail app to Gmail. I would have thought it would change it here, but it didn't. I also use GO SMS, so I want that instead of Messages. It would also be nice to add a couple other apps I commonly share things via.
Anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

Far as i know there is no way to change any of these. Sorry.
I'm wondering if anyone knows of any apps/utils that notify you of new emails (without actually checking email directly on the phone). What I mean is, an app that I guess checks it in the background or whatever, then pops up letting you know you have mail "to check". When I had my "other phone" there was an app called Ultimate Notifier that did this - I didn't have to check my email constantly, and I'd only get notifications that I had email "to check" when I did.
I've found a few apps in the market, but none seem to either work at all, or even do what I'm wanting to do. I know it's not an issue to check email every hour or whatever, but sometimes I prefer to just be notified that I have an email, and if I decide to check it, I check it, if not I don't, at least I was notified anyhow.
Hopefully there's "an app" for that, lol. It's the only thing I miss coming from my "old phone" If it matters, I'm using AquaMail, and the few that I have found are for K9 mail (and haven't been updated in years).
Thanks.

I'm confused. All email I thought had this built in. I use Gmail, Yahoo (through built in email app) and Outlook through touchdown. Gmail and outlook are push so every time I get an email I can have it notify me. Yahoo checks every 1/2 hour and notifies me if I have a new email.
why would you need an external app unless you don't have nay kind of setting to auto update mail or push?

Because I don't have it set to update. I generally do, but wanted to have it the way I had it with my other device. It'd just notify that I *had* an email (it wouldn't pull it or anything), and I could choose to check it or not check it. I know it seems silly, but it's just the way I preferred it I suppose.

OK not sure if you do this to save battery life or whatever but if so it would not make sense since the other app would be reaching out (push) to see if there was any email. So it would be a wash one vs the other.

A bit of battery saving. I'm not sure how the app I was using with my other device worked (It was called Ultimate Notifier), but their system checked my email server(s) to see if I had messages, if I did, it'd just send me a push notification - I wasn't "polling" any email servers on my end.

Umm...Ultimate Notifier was made at a time when Push email didn't exist outside of using MobileMe. It was made useless when Apple allowed Push mail with Gmail and POP3 boxes. What you were, in essence, doing is polling the Ultimate Notifier server in the same way that phones today poll Gmail (or other boxes). It used no less battery. In fact, if you know how Push notifications work it doesn't matter if you have 1 service (in your case Ultimate Notifier) or 10 services, you're not using any more battery. The only thing using the battery is downloading the emails, which probably accounts for about 10 minutes of battery a day.
In essence, there's no need for an app like that when every email app can do it natively. It uses the same amount of battery. If you liked how it looked and such...that can probably be done with a few other apps (different email apps or notification apps).
