In 4.3 pie implementation user needs swipe precise from the center of one side to activate pie. On large screen this hamer usability because user needs to make thumb gimnastick to do that. Please add possibility to just swype from side to activate pie. It's much faster that way.
+1 And Also having the option to activate the controls in the bottom or in the sides at the same time.

this makes sense in landscape mode on phones too. trying to find the middle is kind of difficult.

well it is that or, long press on the switch apps button pops up a menu, a vertical list of rows of the most recently used apps, and you just swipe up or down to select the one that you want to multitask too. That would be faster.
thanks for implementing this

Many thanks,
Chris
This isn't a question of left or right handed, the button order has been changed at ics.

The buttons were switched in ICS. This isn't a left/right handed setting.

Damnit! you got there first lol
Really?
Very annoying then. I've just come from a Galaxy Note with ICS and the buttons were the opposite way round to my S3 running ICS.
The Newly released Google Handwriting Keyboard is absolutely excellent on
the Note 4! It's incredibly forgiving and intelligent with a very easy switch button!

I tried it, and initially really liked the ability for it to translate my very, very crappy hand writing. I like the function of being able to write with the samsung keyboard/pen, but i hate the samsung autocorrect... the google keyboard in my opinion is far superior... correction wise.
But I did not want to jump to the top of the screen and have to pull down the notification bar, and then change my default keyboard every time i wanted to toggle back and forth. (The samsung keyboard is even worse... you have the pen out, and then the pen input pops out, and the only way to switch is to put the pen away and re-select the text box)
The quick way to toggle back and for with the Google keyboard and the handwriting is to press the "globe" looking icon next to the spacebar. Holding the space bar lets you pop back to the samy keyboard....but then you have to go the long way to change back . I might learn to love it.

To prove how good it is at detecting handwitting and autocorrections, this entire post has been written by pen and with no backspaces or edits. Any errors are from google and were not fixed. It looks to me like it has picked up everyword I have written without any issues,
I have purposly started to wo itefaster and pay less attention to the Quality of my handmitting and it doesn't seem to matter to the appa Not too bad, I would say much better than the samsung keyboard.
verdict.... Winner
The only issue I see is the emoji detection... I have no idea what to write to get the various emojito come up...And there is no guide that I kom of,
Xiaomi has made some very strange choices regarding the lock screen:
1) By default anyone has access to the camera from the lock screen. You have to turn that off in Settings (Lock screen & password > Lock screen shortcuts - disable "Right").
2) There's a strange four-leaf clover symbol in a disk at the top right that gives access to the Wallpaper Carousel. Press the symbol and you get a "Terms and Conditions" dialog. It gives access to buttons at the bottom and swipe left to access Wallpaper Carousel. So anyone who borrows your phone can do things with it. I don't know how to prevent this. I've found no setting to get rid of the clover disk.
3) The status bar is active on the Lock screen with no apparent way to disable it. That gives access to all your toggle buttons, so your connection, your wi-fi and you bluetooth can be turned on or off by anyone. The brightness can be changed, notifications read. The only way I can see to stop access to the toggle buttons is to separate the Notifications & toggles layout (under: Notifications & status bar), which means that you don't have access to them when you've unlocked the phone. Anyone know how to take the status bar off the Lock screen?
This is all very bizzare.
About access status bar on the lockscreen, you can disable it in the settings->Notification&Status bar->last one:"Show on lockscreen"

I saw the setting, changed it, looked at the result and didn't see any difference, so I went back, saw it was headed "Notification Shade", and I didn't understand it so I thought it must have been something else. But I never tested the notification bar. It actually does the job, so thank you! (And I kick myself.)
I just have to find a solution for the first problem now.

Actually, as I couldn't see any change, I reset it. Your post made me look at it again more closely!
All I need to know now is how to get rid of the Wallpaper Carousel and the four-leaf clover button from the lock screen and I'll be happy.
So I successfully disabled Wallpaper Carousel by using an app called Ice Box which requires root access. Is your device rooted ?

Thanks for the post. I haven't rooted the phone as yet: I still need to get the bootloader unlocked for the TWRP route.
I just uninstalled the Wallpaper Carousel, which also had the desired effect of closing up a gap in the lockscreen.
A ok ! Glad you were able to uninstall it Miui comes with a lot of bloatware preinstalled so you have to tinker around a little bit. I'm eagerly waiting for a stable aosp custom rom for this device to switch to it as I can't stand Miui

You can disable the stock lock screen by going to Setting > Screen lock & fingerprint > Turn off lock. . . .
If you don't have an app wallpaper carousel that's dedicated to the lock screen, you might look at this post on the MIUI forum.

To disable weird swipe right interface
Go to google play store, search for "Mi Wallpaper Carousel" and just uninstall it
I have a mate 10 (not pro/lite) and the fingerprint sensor is on the front, and I've really gotten used to the gestures using it for back/home/recent apps, thing is, I can't enable the onehanded mode cause it needs a swipe on the navigation bar which I have disabled since I don't need it and it'd take some screen realestate.
I remember that I was able to enable it once by mistake but I can't remember how to replicate it for the love of God, I really don't want to go back to a navigation bar just because of this.
You can enable the one handed keyboard from settings regardless of fp or navigation bar. But i doubt the mini screen can be enabled using the FP. I do remember that somewhere along this option was allowed to be enabled by swiping from the bottom corner diagonally. But looks like they removed it.
Personally i have had this mini screen option on my last couple of phones and i have never found myself using it.
There is a way as I've just done it, shame is I can't figure out what I did?
---------- Post added at 08:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:27 AM ----------
Figured it, as warea says swipe diagonally from the corner you want to move to. Then again to return, easier to tap out side to return.
just swipe up diagonally from the lower right or left bottom corners of the screen but make sure the mini screen view (one-handed UI) is turned on in the smart assistance setting

Hi Guys,
I had been using Samsung Note series since Note 2. Recently switching to Huawei Mare 20 Pro as Note 9 (Samsung) doesn't impress me with innovation anymore.
But i kind of miss the "Swipe Down Notification" gesture on Samsung phone, since i am new to EMUI, beside using 3rd party launcher, is there anyway to enable it. If not, i think Huawei should look into this as this is really useful for me and may be to others user too. The current swipe down gesture on home screen of Mate 20 Pro, it open up something like search function which not useful at all.
#Huawei #Mate 20 Pro #EMUI
In settings you can add a button to the navigation bar that is dedicated to opening the notifications.
I personally find this button much more comfortable and quick than a swipe.
I've gotten used to the gestures too. Really wish there was an gesture to swipe down the notification bar
Just found your thread.
I got my device yesterday and I'm using the gestures (although there is a learning curve), with my old phone (Mate 10 Pro) I used to use Nova and could swipe down anywhere on the home screen or use the fingerprint sensor to bring the notification bar down. Now with the issues with Nova not working with Huawei's gestures, I'm sticking with EMUI launcher, I just wish there were a few more tweaks we could change.
I am able to use Nova launcher and gestures fine, what issues do you mean?

When u swipe up to go home it brings up the recent tabs, or it'll bring up recent tabs for a second and then go to home screen, very glitchy but i can deal with it.

I mean when u at home screen, on Samsung phone, u may swipe down to show notification but you not able to do so on EMUI.
Using Nova here, no issues with gestures.

Hmm interesting, I've not tried Nova because I read there were issues! Will install and see if I get issues.
I read about the issues too, but decided to try it. I'm using Nova gestures and not system gestures (so still using 3 button system nav) and I think that's why I'm not having issues.

In the main settings menu search "navigation" in the search box at the top and you'll find the option there

Hey, you can use that feature by fingerprint scanner. Follow the below steps to enable the feature.
Go to Device Settings>Security & Privacy>Fingerprint ID>Now Enable the "Show Notification Panel" option.
Hope it would help.

That doesn't work on the mate 20 pro because it has an inscreen fingerprint scanner! I love my mate over my note 9 so much but literally this is the only thing I miss from my note, the ability to swipe down on the home screen in order to bring the notification panel down. And no I don't wanna use any third party launcher cause I like everything stock.
Any ideas anyone?
Im using Evie Lancher. In settings you have swipe down for notifications and it works very very good.
Evie Lancher is very fast and good. For now best for Mate 20 Pro. Try it

No. For now I didn't faind any bug for now.
I solved it using fluid gestures, set the quick gesture down to the right to open notifications, in addition to the infinite options of gestures on the sides, configure it to your liking, use another launcher unfortunately is not the solution, as there is always details that do not let you use multitasking well, even using fluid gestures ...
Using Nova, if you enable Swipe Down = Expand Notification then it works? It certainly does for me with Huawei Gestures enable or not.
