I want to share a feedback which if I had the opportunity to read myself a month ago would have helped me making a choice.
3 years ago, I bought the LG Optimus 2x. The main criteria for me was the speed, not to play, but I think that most features on a phone are useful if they are snappy, I don't want to stand in the street for 30 seconds waiting for my app to load, GPS to localize, search to be sent and result to be displayed. When first used the 2X, I was actually not so impressed with the speed, but it was overall a decent phone (camera, size, ...).
Over time, multiple things bothered me: phone getting slower over time, whatever ROM I would use, battery drains, random reboots or freeze, backlight LED and micro USB connector started to be problematic.
I have then started to consider buying a new phone with the first idea to go away from LG. I wanted a fast phone, around 400EUR with a good camera. I considered the following phones:
Xperia Z1 compact, there are so many reviews underlining problems, mainly with the camera (maybe exaggerated, but still scary)
OnePlus One, it is too large for me, doesn't have LTE 800MHz and availability unknown
Galaxy S4 almost as good as the LG G2 with a little minus for screen, CPU and battery
Moto X, very tempting, perfect size, but less "future proof" than G2
Lumia 930, very tempting too, very good camera, snappy, but more expensive than G2, less good integration with Google services
Ascend P7, similarly to the S4, very close to the G2 on many aspects but little behind overall in my taste (CPU, unsure I would like the iOS-like GUI)
So I finally decided to try again LG with the G2.
My fears were that the G2 is too large and many people reports problems with Kitkat.
Here is my feedback after one week of usage.
Overall, for the moment, I am very happy with my choice. Everything is fast, switching between apps is quick and easy, connecting to GPS, replying to a SMS when using an other app, quickly going to check Facebook, all this was a pain with the Optimus 2X and is a bless with the G2. Camera and screen are really nice too. Battery life is great, no need to constantly disable as many features as possible to keep battery for a day. So far, no freeze, reboot, crash, ...
The 2 concerns I have are:
1. The power button at the back, not a big deal, but not as convenient as when it is on the top.
2. I am tall (1m93, 6'4") and have large hands, but I still find the phone a bit too large to handle with one hand, I think that 5" with thin bezels is really the best size for a smartphone, Xperia Z2, OnePlus One, Galaxy S5, LG G3 are really too large for me. If the trends continues, in 3 years, for my next smartphone, I will not buy a flagship but a midrange, like a successor of a Moto X, maybe, or a OnePlus mini, if it comes.
I hope this will help others making a decision when considering buying a new phone.

I use it one hand no problem and am considerably shorter than you at under 6ft.
Agreed that 5" is the sweet spot. Actually the LG Optimus G is awesome in the hands and pocket. Wish LG fixed something like that in 2014 / 2015.
I was an owner of o2x. When I first bought it, it was the first dual core android ever. So it felt exciting. After some time you realize that android is just made as a ram hog and lg roms were just so not nice. But cm7 on o2x was just really wonderful. With cm10 the phone was just done with. Its not good enough.
lg g2 is really good that I guess lg start knowing what to do.
I still prefer g2 stock ROM over paranoid android that I'm using now. Because temperature and battery consumption are just way better. Pa is still in beta and cm11 is just starting to move on to KitKat source. So let's wait.
Everything in g2 is a relieve just no SD card slot.

About your concerns its actually weird but I rarely ever use the back buttons unless I want to reboot phone, always use knock on or the notifications area for toggling volume and utilize quiet hours so that I don't bother putting my phone on vibrate. I find the G2 to be a perfect size for me and I'm 6ft. Came from a Nexus 5 and couldn't be happier with the battery life and camera, solid phone and best I've ever owned and G2 Tweakbox gives me the few extra options to disable annoying pop ups, volume keys skip tracks etc in LG software, not interested in upgrading any time soon

btw back buttons are great feature when you get used to them after a few days...
I forgot to mention that I had also considered the Nexus 5 for the OS updates, size and price. What held me back was the camera and battery. Also, since 4.0, I don't find the OS updates so important, as long as it runs my apps.

Just picked up a G2 myself yesterday for under £300 new, superb bargain but i do have fears that LG will stop supporting this phone once the G3 is out, even though the hardware is still top spec, as LG are well known for lack of support to their former flagships.
As for the Moto X i also have this aswell & i actually find this phone will be more future proof in regards to updates than the G2 will be, 4.4.3 will be on this phone well before the G2 get's it also 4.5 later on in the year, but i be very surprised if the G3 receives the 4.5 update as this will be more for the G3.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe that "future proof" is still so much about getting newer Android releases but rather about having the raw power (CPU, RAM, ...) to run future apps. What do you have in Kitkat that you were missing in Jelly Bean?

Depends what you do with your phone, if you game ect then having the best possible specs is always best.
But if you don't as shown with the recently released Moto E, it does all the basic task's just fine & quicker than the Galaxy S5, there is a video on youtube.

To me it more important that a phone receives regular updates rather than all out specs.
The G2 as mentioned by other users on here has a few bugs with 4.4.2, as do other smartphones inc the Nexus 5, when 4.4.3 comes out hopefully this will fix alot of problems people have been having with 4.4.2, the G2 will get it.... at some point, but after that nothing else, will you be happy using your high end spec phone with no more support in the software, because they moved all their efforts onto the G3?, while the likes of the Nexus 5 & the Moto X,G & E will get 4.4.3 quickly and the next major android update later on in the year, while the G2 will probably stuck on 4.4.3.

G2 and Optimus 2X user here too.
The power button in my O2X is starting to act up (again, as I already had it replaced before).
It is a looovely jump. My O2X can barely multitask between browser and Play Store. I have downgraded my O2X to Gingerbread (Temasek's CM7 to be precise), and I just use it now as a bike computer (Strava app).
Before I got the G2, I actually told myself that I wanna try a Sony or an HTC or a Samsung (I havent tried any of their droids yet), but the knock on and slim bezels of the G2 just won me over.

Sorry I know if everyone asked these general questions about what to buy the forums would be flooded. Hopefully posting in the general section I'm not getting in the way of any important development threads or anything. I wouldn't ask if I weren't really struggling with some indecision here.
I'm a Verizon customer, still have unlimited. Using a Droid Bionic with Carbon Rom. I'm planning to buy at full retail price to leave my data plan in tact.
LG wasn't really even on my radar. HTC One was originally what caught my eye for the styling and great reviews, then the new wave of Droids came out, and now the G2. I think I'm fairly decided in terms of currently available devices and don't need help there, I would get the G2 if it came down to what's on store shelves right now. I've seen comments on the HTC One camera ranging from amazing to garbage, and not sure I would like Blinkfeed. The One speakers would be nice but can't say I really need internal audio from my phone that much. Doesn't sound like the Droid Maxx battery is really thrilling anyone, plus with upgrading at full retail price it kinda isn't all that interesting to jump from one Moto Droid to another, it'll just feel like a differently shaped Bionic. Moto X seems interesting everyone keeps saying it's the best all around form factor and the most refined that an Android device has ever felt, but I think I'm ready for a bigger screen and battery.
I'm more a bit hesitant that I'll get the G2 and then the Nexus 5 or Note 3 is going to be amazing. Although I'm well aware of the crop of Nexus 5 rumors, apparently not having Verizon's LTE band (then counteracted by a newer rumor saying there may have been an FCC filing for a separate Verizon LG device that wasn't the G2 and could be their variant of the Nexus 5). Plus a rumored smaller battery for the Nexus compared to the G2 which would lower my interest in it. Note 3... I'm not really dying to own my first Samsung but it seems it might outdo the G2 in a few ways, more Ram, SD card slot, etc. Obviously anything compared to the Bionic I have will seem nice, 32GB (or the 20-whatever that's actually available after system install) on the G2 will be plenty, I am used to working with the 16gb I have on my Bionic and am used to having to send stuff to my PC harddrive if my phone gets too full.
I've owned LG in my cell phone history, had an LG Dare and then an Ally for my first Android phone. Their hardware is alright but if I recall correctly they are pretty iffy about timely updates and then just stop supporting devices once they hit a certain age. But then Motorola pulled the same stunt during my Bionic ownership and most of you will know about how long it took Bionic to get system updates. I don't think I ever really saw myself going back to LG as I've felt the same indifference towards them as the rest of the community for a while now, although it kinda says something about them that they're still good enough to keep getting contracted for the Nexus devices. And then this G2 landed on my radar out of nowhere.
G2 camera sounds great with a few reviews sprinkled in that suddenly didn't think it was all that amazing, but I take pictures like crazy, camera is important, I think I may even sell my Sony Nex 3 full size camera as a way to help pay for a phone upgrade, the big camera just sits here and collects dust when I can have a camera in my pocket all day in a phone.
Important aspects to me, battery life (sick of charging my Bionic constantly, I think my extended battery is wearing out because I can just watch the percentage drop like a rock as I use it), quality display would be nice after settling for the Bionic with it's blah pentile screen, camera as I mentioned above, other than that I browse, text message, need Tethering, and use Pandora in my car. And I do care about developer support, I like messing with Roms, but if the factory Rom is decent once you get it set up, I can live with not having as large of a dev community as S4 might have or whatever. So yeah with that said it seems like a no brainer saying display-battery-camera, G2 sounds to be the best at all of that right now, I'm just worried about what else is coming out this holiday season. I know the Nexus announcement is rumored for next month but I just hate to wait just to find out it's not coming to Verizon or is definitely going to have some lame 2300mah battery. You know how it is when you're ready to upgrade...
-I suppose we'd all be guessing, but how good are people feeling about the G2 getting a KitKat update in a reasonable time window? This is the LG flagship so I would hope for good support, but the LG skin and addons are so overwhelming and heavily skinned devices always take longer to get their updates out. I'd be thrilled to get this phone but that would quickly turn to disappointment if we're waiting for 4.4 longer than anyone else.
-How is developer support looking? Have any big names pledged to add the G2 to their supported devices? I really like Carbon Rom on Bionic. I suppose it's a good sign that root and loki happened right away but so far Rom releases, especially for VZW, looks slow.
-Speaking of ROMs, do we have any idea if any of the stock stuff like knock-on etc will ever be able to be pulled and applied to a custom ROM, or is it pretty much a guarantee that if you switch to anything but stock you're going to be sacrificing a lot of the factory features?
-I noticed the G2 doesn't even come up on the Top Devices window at the first XDA forum portal, is that a bad sign for community interest in the device? HTC One, Note 3, etc all show up as the top devices on XDA right now. Is there a community behind this device or not really? Does everyone dig the specs but shy away from LG with their heavy skin?
-It WiFi tethering working with the current root exploit? I use my Bionic as my home internet access, on the stock ROM it seems like FoxFi will stop working after a couple of days like it's detecting that I'm tethering, on Carbon ROM I can tether for gig after gig of data and no issue.
-I've seen more than one person gripe about thermal throttling and the G2 starting to run like utter garbage in certain conditions. That would certainly suck to spend 600 on. Is this widespread?
I don't think I'd regret buying it immediately but I see the potential that only a few weeks into ownership the "oh crap why did I go with LG" feeling will start.
For the awesome specs...yes. Its a great deal for what you get. I don't know if tethering is working yet but I do know pda net works. Top be honest with my wife and I we were concerned about going share everything but I got a music unlimited service for 50 a year and downloaded everything instead of streaming. We went from using 6+ gb a month to under 2. And almost all the music is ultra high quality which works perfect with the 24 bit DAC. I stopped using Pandora because of this...I can skip all I want no commercials and choose weekday I want. I am very happy with the lg UI MINUS the giant size. So fast there had been a fantastic dev community modding the stock rom. Coming from a GNex I am ecstatic to get TWRP already. I wouldn't be too sure that anything coming out from Samsung will be crackle since the S4 is locked down now. Battery is about 9-10 hours of straight screen and 24+ with normal usage including hours on and off of heavy use. The only thing I don't like is the weak out of the box speaker but they have already modded ATT gain to make it better. The Btooth audio and head phone quality makes for this Times a million. I don't see anything else coming close unless you are Andre the Giant and like the phablet Note type. The one is bigger with a smaller washed out color LCD. The speakers rock but it's not worth the lack of general power. Grey a quick window case it's s fantastic.

Buy it. If you don't like it inside of 14 days, return it. By that time, news of the nexus 5 should be out.

Wifi tether wasn't working on the S4 or One, I just had both phones on Sprint and T-Mobile with various roms and kernels. The only other phone I considered was the Note 3 but I can't stand the home button, would have liked the extra real estate but the G2 is still manageable for me to use one handed and a stylus would have been wasted on me.
This phone doesn't even need roms tbh.
I'd buy this phone all over again. No other phone feels like this one a atm.

I was following every phone to come down the pipe for the last six months or more. I had an LG Nitro HD for my last phone and my first was the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. The nitro was terrible. The only time that phone ran right was on stock gingerbread. The development was fairly slow and the community small because it was att only and wasn't popular at that. I was about as put off by LG as they come.
Two days ago, I bought the G2, and I absolutely love it. The battery life really is phenomenal. I say this because it had kept up with my initial high usage love for a new phone. I plugged in last night with 34% left after having almost six hours of screen on time at 80% brightness. The note 3 might be great,but then again it might not. Only 100mah larger battery with a .5in larger screen concerns me a bit. The processor is already insane in the G2 so that will likely not make a difference for a bit. The ram shouldn't be an issue for at least an upgrade cycle at minimum.
Honestly, the biggest difference between this and the nexus is battery and screen. Nexus is 5 in and only had 2300mah so unless Kit Kat has major battery improvements that phone was no longer a option for me. The tipping point for this phone over the moto x in my case? Development and community. This phone already has a larger forum Than the moto x. That's not the only determinant but helps significantly. Go check the nitro forum, this phone is already almost as large... this phone had root on day one I think it was and boot loader bypass within a week of launch. And a Rom 2days later. It may not be as fast some devices but that is still damn fast. Will this be a great dev phone? Too early to tell but it looks promising. And with the nexus being nearly identical hardware wise, that could help too.

Forgive me, I'm sure these posts keep cropping up but I just had to share.
Got a Samsung Note 4, and yes, it does a lot, and does it quickly. But....
Believe it or not, my G2 keeps up with it on all fronts and on many of them, surges ahead.
1st, the screen that the G2 got is still nearly unbeatable. I know the Note four is higher res, but the G2 screen is bright and clear, the colors are snappy and the thing pops. It's far more 'exciting' to look at and you really can't tell the difference in res. Further, the glass on the G2 is the most glorious I've used, very smooth and very, very hard. 2 years on, it still feels like liquid with very few scratches on it, without ever having used a case. The Note four, 2 weeks old, micro-scratch hell.
2nd, the battery kills the Note, hands down. I'm rooted and haven't refreshed in many months so it's settled down, I use DS battery saver and SD maid, and consistently the phone that's still living at 11pm is the G2. All the rest have collapsed and are recuperating with their chargers.
And lastly, speed. The Note does a lot of things. It's a productivity demon, it can multi-task very many different functions without ever slowing down, it's consistent and whatever you throw at it -games open, internetting, office+cloud, video/music, Facebook, split window, multi-window, window-in-window, - all AT THE SAME TIME, it doesn't stumble. Doesn't even cough.
But.
The G2 is faster. Imagine that. At everything it does within its system, it's faster. Once on the net no phone can beat the Note's vicious engine but everything within the G2's system is quicker. Opening and switching Apps, gliding through screens etc is not only very fast but very smooth, and.... The experience is like no other because of that wonderfully curved, beautifully coated, extra tough glass.
A bonus: that beautifully constructed, stock G2 home launcher! Yeah, I know, I'm the first to change launchers, used them ALL trust me, all, the stock G2 launcher is the slickest.
I was going to sell my G2 but I'm going to keep it. For life. Once in a while a company gets it right, and the G2 got it right. The few things it didn't, it tried to correct for in the G3 - the measly 16gb which just doesn't cut it these days, no access to the battery or to expandable memory -these things hurt it but the G3 is a completely different machine. And it's not as good.
The LgG2 chassis has become quite simply, one of the best I've ever owned. Things came together for LG here like a good number one hit - very hard to replicate. I hope they manage to pull something off with the G4 that erases their rush with the G3 - not that it's a bad Phone.
Sorry for my rant but there it is. After a month with both phones side-by-side, I had to let you all know. The G2 rocks properly. Like nothing else out there. Still.

Agreed... I have had mine for over a year Now...I used to be a phone addict always wanting something faster...well the lg g2 is the only phone that has felt "fast" enough...the battery is amazing and the screen is amazing as well..I kivr the bezel and lg's software...hands down the best phone I have ever owned still 1 year down the road.

Still rocking my g2 but a lot of your post is just patently false from using my gf's Note 4. The res is distinguishable, text looks a lot crisper on the note and that's something I noticed from first glance. Same for performance, I'm satisfied with my G2's performance but the G3 and Note 4 are just snappier. Only thing I can't speak definitively on is battery life as I haven't used the Note 4 for extended periods of time but I don't see how a used G2 battery is beating a brand new phone's battery, even if the resolution is higher the note is also amoled which will save power in certain circumstances. That sounds more like app/wakelock differences or one phone being rooted with the correct kernels/changes while the other is not.
We can love our G2 because it's still a great phone without hyping it against newer models. I'll probably have my g2 until the G4 or some other phone comes out later this year but I won't delude myself into thinking it's an objectively better phone than things with objectively better screens/processors/battery.
I got my G2 bundled with a postpaid plan on a 2-year contract. At the time, I was expecting that, after a year, I'd be looking for a replacement phone just to keep up with the times. But it's already been 16 months, and I still can't find any reason to drop this phone and get a new one. Heck, I even like this better than the G3, TBH. I even think that I'll be keeping this one active even after I renew my contract and get a new phone, maybe the next Note.

I don't think you have lived with both phones. The LgG2 screen is immediately richer and more iridescent than the Note 4. It is only on prolonged use that res begins to show, and only because the Note uses and handles small text better and has deeper Black's on images. You DO realise after a while that indeed, the qHD on the Samsung is the best on the market - you get it when you try to go back to full HD, don't let anyone kid you - and it becomes clear that LG accentuates the brilliance of its screens - but that's not the point. In use, the LgG2 remains an exciting display, and the glass on it is unsurpassed even by the Note 4.
The battery in the LgG2 only seems to get better, the longer the phone sits on its hardware undisturbed, and is factually, longer-lasting than the Note 4. In fact, battery life is the main issue facing the Note. You will need your spare before the day is over and I suspect all firmware updates will be focused on this for a while.
The Note is a beast, no doubt. The point here is not comparison. It is that the LgG2 in particular, 2 years into the fray, is no slacker.
The G3? The jury is back on that one - they'll have to fix it with the G4 - the reviewers are well aware of that, it's all over the place. Where the G2 was splendid, the G3 was just the 1st with qHD.
It will need more than that this year.

I love my G2(d802). Powerful phone, great battery, beautiful experience. I wait official lollipop with new UI. I will skip G3, i dont like ever this phone. Maybe G4 will be my next baby, until G4 im happy with my baby G2.

I agree! I sold mine last year and have had numerous phones since then. Some of them multiple times! The G2 remains my favorite. I currently have the 6 Plus, and decided the other day to sell it and grab me a 128gb iPad Air 2 and pick up an older phone. I'll end up about even on the deal. Well, I have a mint Nexus 5, a mint LG G2, and a new LG G2 in the mail heading my way. Found a great deal on the new one after buying the mint condition and couldn't pass it up. I'm not sure whether I'll keep the Nexus or the G2, but I'm excited to give the G2 another run!

I still enjoy my G2, still performs just as sharp as the day I got it about 13 months ago. Because it's a D800, I expect AT&T to have us wait for the Lollipop update. Rooting is out of the question for me, as I have experienced overheating both times I tried it.
The V10 is an awesome device. I've been going through all reviews (Youtube & Forums alike), and I'm pretty much okay with it more than any flagship currently on the market. However, the October release of the V10 is kind of awkward and untimely considering (rumors) that they plan to announce the LG G5 in the first quarter of 2016. As a keen tech-savvy consumer / power user, I am aware that flagships grow exponentially every year offering the same premium price (i.e. S6 is an improvement of the Note 4, and probably the S7 will be an improvement of the Note 5). So it is highly likely that the LG G5 will be an improved version of the V10, and the V11 will be obviously a step up higher than the G5.
While I am not in a hurry to buy a new phone, despite my very crappy/laggy cheap Lenovo A536, I am still occasionally tempted to get the V10 (especially when my current phone freezes to eternity). On the other hand, it keeps me from doing that as I am anticipating LG's announcement at CES 2016 in a month or two from now, which will be readily available on the market by March or April, offering it at an introductory price that would be the same with the V10 right now.
Also, another thing that keeps me from getting the V10 is the massive size of it, when the G5 will very likely inherit its features with a 5.5-inch display and slightly better specs + ergonomics.
Well if there's no hurry then there's no harm in waiting to see what is out there. New phones are always coming out

If you have a barely usable phone now - get a new phone soon as possible.
As for waiting for the next best thing ... what are you going to do in March when that edition comes out and they announce they'll be another phone coming.
The differences in the phones is somewhat minimal.
Go to the stores, spend time with each model you like and get the one that feels right. Its far more productive to have a useful tool than it is to have a tool that doesn't work. Waiting for the 'bigger-better-deal' in the next 3 to 4 months is keeping you from being productive today.
This is just my opinion. Good luck in your choice.

I'm actively trying to trade out of my v10. I like aspects of the phone, but if and until certain software changes are made there are better options out there now.
I love having a SD card and removable battery, but the fingerprint scanner sucks. The DPI on this phone is ridiculous. I mean, when the phone is in landscape you can't even see all the options in the sound menu.
I'm on Verizon, so I can't (yet, if ever) root and fix these issues myself. If that changes, my opinion would. Just a few tweaks could fix this phone. The outlook is dim, however, and as it stands currently I can't recommend it.
I got the v10 for the free stuff. My mom is enjoying her free tablet from T-Mobile and I love having the 200gb sd card, extra battery and charging cradle. It has its issue but honestly it is a very solid phone that works well overall. It's not bleeding edge but that has its advantages of being more stable overall. I agree with the other posters, if your phone is on its last legs like my note 2 was get the v10 you'll enjoy it, if your current phone is chugging along fine just wait for the next model.
So it REALLY depends on what you want to do with the device.
If you're interested in having the "latest and greatest" or are doing thing that might require a device that has the highest possible components, then I'd wait. If you're looking for a REALLY good device, then I'd go with the V10.
Coming from the Note III, I LOVE my V10. It's a great device

There will always be a latest and greatest. Once the G5 comes around, there will be rumors of a newer device. If you don't know what you want yet, and your current phone is at its end, buy a used nexus 6 or g4 for cheap until you make up your mind.

Thanks! One of the things I also need is the Dual-SIM feature. While I know that some have the H961 available, I still do not see it on my trusted seller's offerings yet. I really need that Dual-SIM as I live in Asia. I currently have an unlimited data sim separate from my daily calling and texting sim card. I do understand though that LG G5 will offer that as well but a month after the official model is released, same was with the LG G4.

Rumors say that it will have a 5.6-inch QHD display? Either way, 5.5-inch is enough for my needs, and a .1 inch difference from a V10 is negligible to me. Wouldn't care much about the 2nd screen.
I'm waiting for the G5 personally. Its only a few months around the corner most likely.
I would trade V10 with G5 IF the G5 have front facing speaker,sd card, removable battery and a camera that even better than G4 and V10 (since i got no. 3 in photograph contest while most people using a DSLR camera )
So far i really like my V10 right now, so far a really great device imo and i would stay with V10 if G5 doesnt meet my requirement
LG 5 rumors suggest the battery won't be removable so that may be a deal breaker for some. The rumored specs don't seem much superior over the v10

Two weeks ago I placed an order for a Samsung Galaxy S7 and I decided to retire my LG G2 after 2 ½ years of service. The earpiece and loudspeaker were starting to show signs of age, whoever I was calling would hear themselves due to some echo problems and the battery life was no longer what it once was. But if there was one thing the phone never lacked, it'd be speed. It was very fast and fluid but what else would you expect with a Dorimanx kernel?
I bought the phone in December 2013 and it was a great purchase. I got it at $200-250 cheaper than other flagships at the time (Note 3 and Galaxy S4/HTC 10) and I was very pleased with it and the phone remained one of the best even throughout 2014, where most of the flagship phones were equipped with a slightly overclocked Snapdragon 800. In fact, the G2 hardware didn't start to show signs of age until the 2016 flagships came out.
The software has been a mixed experience. My phone has always had issues with displaying any sort of tables/charts. The screen would simply become unresponsive and I'd have to lock/unlock the phone and spam the home button to get out and that's regardless of ROM/Kernel-combo. After updating to stock Lollipop the signal reception weakened noticably, largely affecting the battery life. For while the G2 had amazing battery life, it required good signal reception - otherwise it would eat through the battery trying to find better signal.
The development and support for this phone has been great and there's no doubt that the development for this phone has lengthened the overall life of my phone and vastly improved my experience with it, so thank you to all of our amazing developers. One of those developers have supported this phone till today (and is still supporting it) and he deserves a huge thank you for making a great phone even better. A donation is coming your way, although it won't reflect a fraction of how much you've improved my experience of using this phone.
I've spent a lot of hours in the G2 forums, I've learnt a lot from a lot of nice members and I have done my best to contribute. It is time to move on.

I might do an extensive review later down the road. Right now I'm liking the S7 A LOT. Screen, camera, speed/smoothness and battery life is amazing. I installed Good Lock and a stock Marshmallow theme and the phone feels 90% like stock android, just with more features and just as fast. The only thing this phone is missing is some sort of stereo speakers. If I ever decide to root the phone (and most likely I won't) I could use a stereo speaker mod and that would make an amazing phone even better. Still, the mono speaker at the bottom is far from bad, the media experience is just not as immersive.
I don't know how good the Snapdragon 820 S7 is, but the Exynos S7 is an absolute beast and a worthy replacement if you currently have a G2.

Buying a new battery is a great idea. To be honest, new phones nowaday don't offer that much new. They're usually faster, have better screens and cameras and now we have fingerprint scanners. The G2 with a new battery will fare well throughout 2016 and maybe well into 2017, too. Only thing that might be of concern is the security since the phone won't get many updates - if any at all.
Enjoy the S7 dude, my brother has just purchased the Edge version and has fallen in love with it. My upgrade is due soon, although I am personally holding out for a bit to see what the new Nexus phone (or phones) will be. Even after I will be keeping my G2 as an mp3 player

Currently I am using Droid Turbo as my daily driver as it is personally is the better performer than Nexus 5x (Batt Life is extremely important to me).
Now I am looking to upgrade, and since prices of Oneplus 3 and LG G5 is roughly the same (G5 is actually cheaper here in PH)
I would like to know which one would you prefer.
I really am having a hard time deciding but I am narrowing it down to personal pro/con preferences
G5:
MicroSD slot - since my nexus 7 2013 is dying, I plan to consolidate all media to one phone and this is a big plus
Better Camera - The last great camera I had was Galaxy S5. Nexus 5x and Droid Turbo are just not fun to shoot with
Build / Bootloop Issue - I really really don't find G5 physically appealing add the fact that some units have bootloop issues
LG UI - I love stock
OnePlus 3:
Build - OnePlus looks fantastic to me
Stock Feel - Feels stock with non-obtrusive addition
Tinkerabilityl - OP has always been easy to tinker with
Non-Expandable Storage - The most glaring weakness of Op3 amdist 64GB Internal
LTE Connectivity - The Op3 available in PH are chinese version which do not have band 5 which could make the experience all the more frustrating. Philippines already has s**t networks with limited LTE support depending on where you live,

As you can see, battery life is not mentioned since both has garnered mixed reviews. I also did not count Op3's camera as a con since it is a good performer.

I am with OnePlus One and LG G4, and I've been thinking about upgrading to G5.
LG makes excellent smart phone camera, but the build quality has always been problematic.
So far we are having these issue on G5:
1/Bootloop
2/Screen Burn-in
3/GPS issue
If you prefer a reliable phone，OP3 is a better choice, but the 1080P AMO screen sucks.
I have both phones and I recommend the LG. I stopped tinkering and flashing roms. Oneplus is good for flashing new roms and do on not for anything else. My g5 doesn't bootloop or screen burn-in or gps issue. Camera, screen, sound extra sd card are the thing. Oneplus is an obscure experimental savvy phone
Well, my G5 (H850) is just perfect. Battery lasts about 5-6 hours SOT. GPS is also perfect.
I used to have OPO and @ItsNewDroid is right. You'll be flashing new ROMs almost every other day.
My vote goes for G5.
I'm using the H860 variant and so far no problems at all.

I Have the G5 for about 4 months now and the bottom line is just PERFECT no issues such as bootloops, burn in screen, GPS Performance is top notch aimply blazing fast i feel like this phone is pushing the boundaries of smartphones speed, my antutu score ia 147,356, The screen is the ideal size for the majority of people and the Display is stunning natural colors(not punchy like amoled which might seem strange but i don't prefer it), the build quality is great and i swear it feels like actual metal in addition to the VERY cold feeling every morning, camera is the best one
Verdict
Performance-Best among smartphones
Display-One of the best in the market
Camera-Main is magnificent and the wide is definitely not a gimmick
Hardware:- audio, fingerprint scanner and everything else is great
Battery-SOT 5 hours and 30 minutes on average
Easily the best smartphone ever
I had a dilemma berween S7 Egde and G5. Happy with my choice. I would have taken the S7 Edge if it offered a bit more in the camera department, but as it is...it's kinda limited. Oneplus offers really nothing better other than build quality and price. Oh and the cool volume switch. If I would buy a phone right now , it would be the V20.
Buy both OP3 and G5, first G5 if not satisfy go for OP3 I think, thanks

Same here : Don't own an OP 3, but my G5 is perfect, simply. No GPS, screen, bootloop issues and a SOT over 4h everyday with LTE and BT always on, I'm happy.
