Not sure what you mean by stop, but a custom rom might not support/have wireless charging function so then yes you would not be able to use wireless charging with that rom.

Anything is possible with custom roms . especially nightly roms. To my knowledge they are test roms b4 the officials. So whenever you have someone dissecting ,customizing and building a rom something may be over looked at first but updates usually fix most problems. My suggestion is if your on a custom rom had has a issue go in that thread and read up to see if others are having the same problem then ask the dev. If you dnt see anything. Most dev. Will hit you back with an answer if there not too busy . if all else fails try a different rom to see if the problem still happens .

[Q] Internation Base ROMs+ Network Extender

I have noticed that any ROMs based on the international base have a problem with putting my Note II into roaming whenever I am connected to my network extender at home. Any ROMs built on the Verizon base work just fine. My question is: can I backup my modem settings with TWRP, flash a ROM built on the international base and then restore the modem as the last step to get around this issue?
Sorry if this is a noob question, but I am new to Android and custom ROMs.

The modem stays with every flash until you flash a new one, you don't have to worry about it. As for what you want to do I don't think it would matter about the Network Extender, everything you would need would be built in to the international Roms on our forums, but I'm not 100% sure as I've never came across this before.

Well sting as how the modem carries over no matter what you flash then you wouldn't have a problem there. How does the extender work? Do you connect like WiFi or does the phone automatically pick it up or do you have a special app? I don't think you'd have assn issue as long as you stayed on TW but AOSP you may depending on how the extender works.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Premium HD app
The network extender connects to a home wireless network so you are basically doing VOIP when connected to it. There is no app to use, the phone automatically uses the extender when it is available.

Then it should work with any ROM.
The only thing I have found is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2108887
The only time problems were experienced was on AOSP, and that was only due to a leaked modem that probably wasn't optimized yet, so I would bet you won't have any issues

Thanks for the link. That is pretty much exactly what happens for me with any AOSP/International base ROM. I am guessing that network extenders are a Verizon/US only device and perhaps that explains why only Verizon based ROMs properly recognize the extender. The extender itself actually works and my phone calls properly get routed through the extender. The phone however is always on roaming when connected to the extender, so if data roaming for example is turned off things get a little difficult. It isn't a huge deal really, it just keeps me from using some of the more interesting AOSP type ROMs that are available.

You could ask Scott if there is a fix for Cleanrom and ask Beans the same thing. You could also ask in the AOSP threads if there is any way for that to be worked on, its very very odd....

It may be something that was either taken out to make the ROM more sleek or not added to the international base.

There's lots of GPS fixes for every ROM, I had the same problems you did, used google, got it working. You can search the individual threads as well. There's so many different fixes for everybody you got to try them out and see what works for you.

You really shouldn't be having any problems on CleanROM it's very very similar to stock. Whatever ROM you're on, you should post your problems in that thread plus search that thread. It's the only way you'll get somebody that can actually help you.

In my experience, clean rom always fixes issues I have. If a vzw version of clean rom doesn't properly work on your phone, you might have a faulty device. Because that guy's roms are money.

I have no issues with any Verizon based roms such as Clean or Beans, but any ported or intnl rom I cannot get the GPS to come on or get a fix. I have tried every fix that I can find applicable to Note 2 and even some s3 on every forum that has come up in searches. Would love to use Novella, but still looking for a fix that will make this dang Verizon Note 2 work. Tried different firmware/basebands, replacing or adding the proper libs, getting a fix on a different rom then flashing, GPS fix trick with restore, still no dice. I am still looking for something that will work. Even tried the "press upper right corner thing" and tighten screws. And combinations of all those things. I know its not a GPS problem with hardware as it works on every Verizon based rom. Good luck...I am still looking.

Hmm I got nothing then. International roms don't like my phone, but If I have a lock on a Verizon rom before flashing I always get a lock on international based roms thereafter.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
I have the same problem with the latest Jedi X17, I can get a lock before the flash, boot into recovery, do my wipes and flash only to have an AWESOME rom without the 1 capability i use most with my device. The Rom has a GPS quick-fix, that doesn't work for my device, and I've tried several from the market. It's infuriating...
Gonna try clean rom again in the next day or 2. Question when installing rom people say to wait 10 mins then reboot.do you let it sit right after flasing or after you put in Google acount etc?

let it sit for a minute or two after youve gone through the aroma installer. and it gives the green button to reboot. no need to wait ten mins but i have locked my phone up a few times flying through install and rebooting right away. if it happens though just pull your battery and pop it right back in and itll boot back to recovery. then i always flash again

Unfortunately theres no going back once excepting a OTA update. MDK is the only version with custom recovery. Hopefully Hash will crack a safestrap method but even if he does you'll probably still need a 4.3 Stock kernel. Have you tried a factory reset? Might solve your wifi issues.

I guess I'm wondering if one of the custom Roms might have a better radio ?

Well there is root exploit, but no custom recovery. So flashing anything isn't possible ATM to even change radios. Also, Samsung is locking everything down with Knox making it more difficult. Hopefully a 4.4 stock leak will save us with bootloader hacks. Trying to be optimistic

If that doesn't fix it you could tell Verizon you tried everything and it should be covered by your warranty for a new replacement.

Factory reset is the only thing I have not tried.
You know, I have not installed Knox. The icon is there but I have not hit the install option. Also, I was reading that there is a way to disable it.
Does that make any difference with flashing an older radio ?

No, unfortunately. The bootloader needs to be unlocked or exploited in some way for you to be able to get a custom recovery to flash something. No one's been able to crack the firmware for months now, much less 4.3 which just came out.

So, if this is the case, what would be the point in bothering to root right now ?

To keep them from upgrading you to an even later version that might not be vulnerable to whatever exploit they will eventually discover. (I have a PSP with a version that everyone said was unrootable yet here it is.. playing roms)

I personally wouldn't use the vroot method, shady code & people behind it, but there's lots of benefits to rooting IMO. If you're happy you probably don't need to.

I just want my WiFi back to what it was on 4.2. It was my contact with the outside world while stuck at work.
Guess I'm willing to do what ever necessary. Sadly, I've even been considering going back to my iPhone since this update to 4.3.

OP, you never said what the wifi issues actually are. A zillion people are on 4.3/MK7 and doing fine with everything.
People do that all the time here and in other forums in other aspects of life. They have a problem, think of the only solution they can imagine, then ask for help implementing it. A better question is can I get help/ideas to correct the original problem.
My apologies, your right. I went back and read my OP. I didn't say what my issues are.
Well, my employer privides an open WiFi for the office. The signal is not extremely strong but it's fair. Signal strength does dip up and down a little.
So while on 4.2, my phone stayed connected to the WiFi. Never disconnected. Once I upgraded to 4.3, it will not stay connected. It constantly drops the signal, scans, sees the signal but won't reconnect. I have to manually force it to connect.
As soon as I sit the phone down and it sleeps, it disconnects again and the process starts over.
The constant scanning is draining my battery fairly quickly.

[Q] I figured out WiFi is causing my Screen of Death issue. Now what?

So I realized WiFi is causing my Screen of Death issue on EVERY KitKat ROM, and only KitKat ROM's. So what is my next step? Does anyone have a fix on this or anything? It'll either Screen of Death my phone or my data won't work until I turn off WiFi and then I can't turn it back on. Any help would be appreciated guys. I'm desperate now. 15 battery pulls a day are just ridiculous.
Why did you make a new thread? :what:
Anyways...I'm in the same boat as you. Take a few screenshots of your app drawer so I can see if we are using any of the same apps, it's possible one of them are the problem.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Well OP isn't very active, so I thought I'd get a logcat. I was connected to WiFi until I noticed it wasn't receiving any data (but still showed connected to WiFi). I turned the screen off and then it would not come back on anymore, but the phone was still responsive. I could turn torch on and off and even took a screenshot, but the screen still refused to come on. I'm guessing that whatever is happening, usually does so while the screen is off, and that's why I get a BSOD.
I'd like to add I've tried a bunch of different modems, clean flashed CM11, even restored no apps...yet the problem persists.
I've attached it to this post, if anyone has time to check it out I would be very grateful.

I'm just so frustrated with my phone because I can not figure out a fix. At first I installed a clean kitkat ROM with full wipe, and didn't restore apps to see if it was an app but it still did it. Then I even completely unrooted my phone and rerooted, still did it.

That's alright, if it also did it for you without restoring any apps, its gotta be something else. But what... I have no idea.
It seems that WiFi is crashing while the screen is off and that is resulting in a BSOD. Why the hell is it crashing though... :banghead:

Yeah. I'll notice my WiFi is no longer sending data so I'll turn it off then it won't turn on. Or I'll try to turn it off and it won't then I know that if I lock my screen it won't turn on without a battery pull.
I'm not sure where to go from here if nobody can decipher that logcat.
All I can think of is to back up my SD card and completely format the phone.. then see if it persists.

The modem (baseband) is something you can flash in recovery..
It controls the cells hardware that communicates with the actual cell towers.

Please I'm desperate and so badly want to run a kitkat ROM.

What are your methods for flashing a 4.4 rom/kernel? This is a weird issue

So these are my exact methods in order:
1. Download ROM and Gapps
2. Boot into Recovery
3. Complete wipe of phone
4. Install ROM
5. Wipe Cache/Dalvik
6. Install Gapps
7. Wipe Cache/Dalvik once more
8. Reboot

And you're already on the correct kernel before this?

I've just been staying on CM10.2 the entire time. I tried running a couple KitKat ROMs lately to see if maybe the issues were fixed like the GPE ROM and SlimKat (which I would really like by the way if I didn't have this issue haha) but still does it no matter what.

Yeah, and I've also tried seperate Kernels as well. Curious though, what is the correct kernel? Wouldn't it be whatever the ROM boots with?

I'm really surprised someone in that logcat thread didn't help you with this

Using WiFi and have never experienced this issue. I'm not on MDK so am using Surge's rooted odexed NC5. Issue may be the roms or kernels you are using.

We've tried countless ROM/kernel combinations both AOSP and TW.

Do you have the 16gb or 32gb version of the phone?

Damn I've got the 32gb. I literally can't find any similarities between what we're doing that would cause the issue.

I know, I just don't get it. Like I know a decent amount about tech and android, but I can't figure out where the issue is. And of course on XDA there are sooo many more people who know so much more and they can't figure it out either. I can't believe it just hasn't been fixed yet. So do you really just stay on a 4.4 ROM and not use WiFi?

Yeah I usually have LTE everywhere (my work is really spotty though) so I don't exactly need WiFi, but it would be a lot more convenient and better for my battery. I got two extra batteries I just swap out to deal with that...

Haha, I mean I share 10gb's with my family, which usually gives me about 5gb's since my brother is the only one who uses data. But still I want WiFi haha.

Yeah I would NEED WiFi if I had even 10gbs a month, I'm already up to 7gbs halfway thru the cycle.

So no one has anything at all they think we could try that we haven't already?
I would suggest (almost) stock kitkat if you haven't tried it yet:

If you can't get this to work then is it possible your device is faulty? Also, does it only happen with wifi at your home or elsewhere too?
