After connecting my mail to my university exchange account, this is which permissions it asks for, and if not granted doesn't work:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Is this safe, and if not, how can I remove those permissions w/o removing my mail.
It's the stock email app. It's safe. You can't remove the permissions if you need to use an Exchange account with that version of the email app. If you really need to use Exchange without those permissions, there is a modded version of the app:

or via Xposed:

I don't really have to do that, I just wasn't sure about this, thanks for the clarification.

I have a problem when selecting contacts from some applications
Now when I use some apps like maps or a simple app I made that requires me to select a contact it force closes
I have deleted the standard contacts app and replaced it with phonebook, which might be the problem
Is their any way to get it back?
A assume, that you run on 2.1.
In attached .7z: both contacts, and provider.
Push them to your /system/app and change permissions, to:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After doing that just restart your mini.
Thanks, it works but now all the details of my contacts dont match the name in the list and seem to be in a random order
Try to delete all contacts (first do a bakup ofc), and load them again. May work.
I deleted the com.sonyerricson.conacts directory from /data/data all works now
i recently need to discontinue the gmail account i was using that was also used later as the primary Gmail account on my Dell STreak 5.
How can I dissassociate this email account from my phone , all apps, etc without going through the detailed steps above?
1. I ran Dell Backup (which should have acked up all apps, etc on my tab/phone) BUT doesnt that also backup the email acounts, etc including the old gmail account
2. I want to go back to factory settings then restore the backed up file (but need to know if this will not just take me back where i am right now, with that crapped out gmail account i need to dissassociate)????
3. Why is it so hard to simply remove the account!

did you install custom phonebook.apk? (ex. Xperia S apps)
1. if yes, try to install the original phonebook.apk manually and open it. (do not import contacts cause you contacts are still there)
2. then install back the custom phonebook.apk manually.
In my case, it solved the problem.
It just means that the process has had to stop, it must be linked into your applications. I get a similar issue on some of the bloatware.
Yep, quick google shows it as syncing issues, try clearing data on contact storage remember to backup first as it'll probably delete your numbers etc.

I have a samsung galaxy A11 and a few months ago weird stuff been going on so I started looking/investigating not knowing where to beggin to look for things and right after factory reset these are the permissions for the vanilla e-mail app that samsung provides. I posed 4 pics because that's how long the permission page is... am I tripping or is this normal? The first permission is " add or modify calender events and send e-mail to guests without owner's knowledge " I mean wtf is that ? Lol it s weird right !?

On my phone, another email app, Outlook, is almost the same as this one.
But I have disabled some permissions such as calendar, camera, contacts as well as microphone for this email app because I think these permissions are not necessary for my general application scenario. In fact, the email app still works well.
