i was thinking the same Also if other Variants are in our forums like Virgin Mobile Boost Etc. they can let me know and i can dedicate one of the other posts to those variant specific file, also having these here instead of relying on SamMobile is a Big + as Thier Download Speeds are Horrendus Compared to AFH or Copy

Beans , thanks for this this deserves a beer. Have one on me:9EV347260U3777644.

Hi Beans.. Awesome stuff man.. came from a S2 right to an S5. Blown away at first with the phone and shocked second whence I saw your ROMs. Of course we can't let our phones sit there stock so BLAMO!.. I flashed your stock.. All was then right with the world.. Question now on your firmwares.. S2 had one update I remember and the 'newer' ROMS based on its updated firmware were backward compatible. Are you saying here if I flash back n forth, anch/ane5 ROMs, I'd need to flash the respective firmware each time? Again, the S2 didn't seem to care or I didn't notice anyway..

All I need is that NCH modem or firmware.

well considering the only two roms out at the moment are alliance(mine) and project infinity im pretty positive we are both gonna be rebasing onto the newer base aka ne5. the reason i say to stick to the firmware for your base is because ive seen in the past using old firmware on newer bases makes things like the camera malfunction or not work at all or misc issues. u can prob use a nch rom on ne5 firmware but imho for pure stability always stay on newest firmware with exception of modem(some people have issues with newer modems) so flash back and forth between modems at will but stay on newest firmware.
Basically once the roms start going ne5. the nch full stock and firmware tar shouldnt even be looked at they are more only there for convenience incase someone on nch needs to use them for whatever reason, Samsung also tends to increment the bootloaders making it impossible to go from newer versions to older version usually in big updates. Make sense?

honestly i would try and just put the modem in the ap slot of odin first u can do just modem.bin in odin without a tar. and it will tell you if its capable of flashing it. doing it the zip way could lead to problems(since its not made for tmo) but yes if it flashes fine for you in odin id be glad to make a zip, i just wanna be catious at first with your 600$ phone odin has failsafes while zip install doesnt care so u need to be certain to do it via zip thats why i suggest try odining it first

Now that you mention it, we could always use help with our ugly ducklings Canadian variant phones (G900W8), as this phone is not only distributed in Canada, it's also distributed in other parts of the world, like Puerto Rico and parts of Latin America. It would rock immensely of you could do something for these devices. Sucks always getting the short end of the stick with these phones.
Btw, rocking your stock debloated odex rom on my G900W8 with Blaze kernel V8, runs like a dream!

[Q] Some questions about CSC

Hello xda-developers this it my first post, but it will be more and I will try to help you.
I have a SGS2, bought from Romania, but the CSC code is "XEF" which probably means that it was imported form France. Now I want to change my CSC in "HAT" or "COA" according to my country but I don't want to lose my warranty.
1) There is any method to do this?
2) If I will find the CSC files, flashing only this with Odin is possible and if yes I lose my warranty? I only flashed AIO or PDA,CSC,BOOT files in the mean time on my second phone,Samsung i5700, but never only one of those.
I tried with CSC Selector from Play and with Preconfig code, but my phone have no Multi-CSC, it have only "XEF".
My SGS2 informations:
PDA: I9100XWKJ2
PHONE: I9100XXKJ4
CSC I9100XEFKJ1
Thank you very much for your answers and sorry for my bad English
no need to change it unless you need something specific in that csc.
I want to upgrade to ICS via Kies, but in Romania the update exists and in France it doesn't... That's why I want this

Just flash XWLP8 Frankenstein with Odin. Kies is a complete piece of crap. Uninstall it right now and just leave the samsung usb drivers.
The aforementioned package already includes everything you need... and it's official... and it's newer than the package you are planning to flash ; )
@bala_gamer: I will look forward CSC files and just flash them with Odin... But is it possibile? My device is not rooted...
@victorator: Doing this I will lose my warranty...Am I right?
Thanks a lot for the answers

Go into settings->about phone and write down what you have now.
Worst case IF you ever really need to get warranty just flash this package...
End of story. The link I gave you gives you the newest official ICS rom, non-rooted. It doesn't increase the custom binary counter (that's how they check if you messed with your phone) and it is official. Just flash it.
Ok, I didn't know that I can put the phone into download mode and flash a new firmware without increase the counter, thx

The only thing that increases the counter is flashing specifically a kernel via Odin that is not signed by Samsung.
This is why flashing some ROMs won't necessarily increase the counter: If you flash a ROM that includes a kernel that is signed by Samsung, it will keep the counter at zero.

That kernel is posted just in case you need it, if you flash a custom or insecure kernel, and want to flash back to stock. If you don't flash a custom of insecure kernel, you won't need it. Wouldn't hurt you to download it anyways though, again, just in case you need it later.

When you go into Download mode, it will display a count if you have ever flashed a non-Samsung signed kernel. If you have never done so, it will not display a count at all.

You'll have to install CWM recovery to do this... which means flashing a kernel NOT signed by Samsung, which means increasing your counter.

[Q](Solved) Does flashing the stock rom restore the original kernel?

I am a noob using a sgs2(international version) running CM9 stable and for certain reasons I want to restore it to the state i got it, i already used the Triangle Away app and removed the triangle and reset the counter and i also understand that flashing the stock rom doesn't increase the count but I don't know about the matter related to restoring to stock I watched a couple of videos and I am confused in some cases they are using 3 or more files in the procedure, like in Odin they have a file for PDA, Kernel, Csc likewise and some are just talking about using only the PDA file, so could someone explain what is happening?
It would be greatly appreciated if someone could give me a link to a unbranded US or UK stock gingerbread 2.3.6 (i cant understand what to select from the other forums because I can't understand files named KHJS_LHDG ..... Etc ) and a way to use that rom with Odin to go back to perfect out of the box situation.

there are 2 formats for the stock rom. 1 .rar archive with all CODE MODEM KERNEL CSC as tar.md5 files compressed in a .rar archive.. and the other is the single .tar.md5 file that inside have all in one (kernel, modem...).
if you flash the single tar.md5 it will replace your entire ROM including kernel & modem.
if you flash the multiple file inside the .rar you must put the files you unzipped in their respective slots. be careful with that. I think for this method is needed also a PIT file but I'm not sure.
I always flash the single .tar.md5 file because it's easier
Sent from my GT-I9100G using xda app-developers app
Thanks a bunch that cleared up many of my doubts, so that's it people whoever is confused and reading this, I am perfectly satisfied.
Stock firmware flashing after reseting the counter does remove all traces of root and sammobile gives all the stock firmware needed for your phone. Just be careful enough to select the right version for your model and region and also if present your carrier brand.

Then you didn't wipe properly.
Be sure to wipe /data, /system & /cache from your custom recovery before flashing stock firmware to be sure. Just a factory reset after flasing probably is enough but why not take advantage of the custom recovery to wipe all and be sure

Thanks, but what I meant was whether the modem package is included within the tar.md5 file since the rest (CSC, Pit, ..) are apparently included.
Hmmm maybe if I try extraction of the tar file could I get my answer? Or will it be complicated jibberish or can I extract it at all?
I plan on Reaming tar.md5 to just tar for extraction.

For choosing your rom take a look for yourself here;

But i think that DXKL3 will fit your needs, it is a multi CSC so no need for a specific region (and it is the most recent
2.3.6 listed among the non region specific 2.3.6 roms):
http://skywanker.net/download/downl...9100_THL_I9100DXKL3_I9100OLCKL2_I9100DXKL1.7z

For the question about modem, if you open the archive you can see if there is a "modem.bin" inside or not.

A note about the pit when you have it:
most of the time, you don't have (and should not) tick these boxes
in Odin.
I used a pit once because I though it would repair my filesystem,
and in someway it did, but most of the time in all flashing tutorial the advice
is not using it.
Hi,
Thanks for this post i found it really helpful,i messed up my custom kernel settings if i flash the stock rom will it also reset the kernel settings.

[Q] Little help needed.

Okay now I have installed this Unofficial 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Kernel XXLS6 on my S2 , and couple of days ago I heard that the official Firmware is to be available on Kies in the next few weeks, so what I did is I downloaded the Stock 4.0.3 ICS through searching my country's Rom on Samfirmware.net and it was a 500+ Mbs *.tar.md5 file.. So I want to know do I just flash it on PDA through Odin? I'm having doubts because when I flashed this unofficial firmware I'm having now I actually had to use 3 files the MODEM, the CODE and the CSC. SO I just need to know is that one file just enough or not?
This is the name of the File: I9100JPLPF_I9100OJPLPC_I9100XXLPX_HOME.tar.md5
Thank you.
Yes. All you need is the md5 and flash it via PDA section.

[Q] Baseband change

I am currently using stock 4.3 rom for s3. But i want the mk6 version. Is it possible to change it without flashing a mk6 rom? i know it may sound funny to others. But i dont really have any knowledge about these modem, baseband thing. Most of the MODs are made available for mk6 version, so was wondering if I could get it without changing the rom.

Looking for G850F updated stock rom

Hey Guys,
I have a galaxy alpha g850f which my carrier doesn't bother to update (i've read some roms have smart manager and security patches updated to July 2017 or so)
Will there be any problem if i update my device with a stock firmware from sammobile but different country? (Same model 850f)
If thats ok - can i get a recommendation for an updated stock rom?
Thanks ahead and sorry for my English,
Lior

Updates in 2016 were only minor changes + security patch, you can choose any one of them.
The most recent update is G850FQ : G850FQJVU2CPK4, it should work on G850F too.
Just a reminder, when you flash the whole rom from another csc(country),
all data in your phone will be cleared, so remember to backup first (and save to your computer).
is this rom for 850F ok?

You can download the rom of your csc first.
If you don't like the new rom, you can go back to the old one anytime.
Sorry, i do not know what csc stands for..
tried reading and i understand its for my country code?
searched the ILO csc and all i get is old roms:
www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G850F/ILO/
so if i understand (and i probably dont ) i should take another country rom.
if that right i still would love an updated rom suggestion...
Thanks and sorry

The most recent update of your csc is still Android 4.4.4.
So if you want to update to Android 5.0.2, the only choice is a rom from another csc.
Just try it.
If you use odin, there's no problem to flash back the old rom.
If you upgrade from Android 4.4.4 to 5.0.2, you might think it changed a lot.
But there's not much difference among 5.0.2 roms, really.
Thanks a lot
i guess i'll try the Uzbekistan rom... (Security Patch Level 2016-07-01)
Does anyone knows if by any chance that comes with Smart Manager?

I think smart manager is included in "all" 2016 updates of G850F
since these updates were the second or the third update of Android 5.0.2.
It is pointless if you never try.
If you just want to know what smart manager is like,
go to any store that sells Samsung phones and try one,
that's much easier than flashing rom.
So i installed the rom (had to remove hidden.img from the file cause odin was failing)
rom has "Dragon Dash" and "Dragon Mania" installed?!
is this legit? is there a possibility the rom is tempered with?
Thanks and sorry for my paranoia

Those apps are with csc, not with system.
Try download a rom with a different csc code.
If you tried the one you mentioned earlier, the csc code is G850FOXE2CPG1,
and there are many countries updated with the same csc file.
Try one that the csc code is not G850FOXE2CPG1.
Or try one that the csc code is not ended in "CPG1"?
I am personally using this one:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/64361/G850FXXU2COL1_G850FPHN2COL1_PHN/
If you don't mind the build date is in Dec 2015.
I'm sure there're no extra apps in this csc.
Thanks a lot buddy...!
I disabled the games in the app manager and hope all will be good.
Is it possible that my reception is lower now? It seems that i have none now at home and i used to have full bars... :/

Try flash modem.bin from rom of your csc or another csc.
Is it ok if its a modem.bin from a 4.4 rom on a 5.0.2 android?
Should i download the entire rom, extract modem.bin, close it to tar file and burn with odin in download mode or there is a easier way?
Thanks again

You have to download the rom and extract modem.bin (or delete other files and left only modem.bin in the .tar.md5 ?).
My way is to extract it.
You can check if the file size of modem.bin is the same.
If it's not, there might be different modem.bins for G850F.
For my model(G850Y), modem.bin hadn't changed from Android 4.4.4 to 5.0.2.
And you can only flash modem.bin from the same model.
