[Q] root help? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is there any kernel through which we can root i9300 without yellow triangle as there is signed philz kernel to root s2???

Use stock kernel, makes no difference to root.
Don't get confused between s2 and s3, they are totally different.
On stock firmware just use CF auto root.

You do not root with a kernel any more as recovery has its own partition again (like most android phones)
Root is easy, flash cwm recovery with ODIN like you would a kernel, then flash the root . zip in recovery.

u can flash siyah
http://www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/2012/06/12/siyahkernel-sgs2-v3-3-2/
Whoever told you that is mistaken.
You can root with CF root. Once you install Cyanogenmod, you cannot install cf root afterwards due to the fact it is not compatible with cyanogenmod.

Rooting S3 Without PC? I did it on the s2...

New to XDA. Just wondered if.. like the s2 I can root my s3 without pc...
I think I done it by installing a new recovery, and flashing CWM, Busybox etc
With no yellow triangle. Is this method possible on the s3? Or is it possible atall?
Many thanks

Afaik not possible yet, just flash a CF-Root kernel you need with Odin (SU, busybox and CWM), download Triangle Away 1.51 and reset the binary flash counter. This is the easiest way.
How did you root s2 without a pc?

I think this is a great rooting method since it doesn't involve flash kernels making it a very safe method and you don't have to worry about Triangle Away etc
I did try doing exactly the same as this on my S3 but using the s3 version of CWM http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.8.4.4-i9300.zip but it fails to load the zip with a signature verification error which is a shame.
Does anyone know why this works on the s2 but not the s3. The s2 doesn't seem to have an issue with signature verification.
Probably because Samsung read through this site too... Can't make it too easy now, can they....
By the way, S3 doesn't have a yellow triangle anymore.
Just the binary counter is increated but it can easily be reset with TriangleAway.
Any clever person been working on this or know of a way?

I brought this subject up a while back when first came from Note and S2, we just need someone to leak a signed CWM like we got for other phones then we're good.
Hasn't happened yet though so who knows if it ever will.

It is a good method. Rooted stock is what I wanted anyway..
Ah well

Any change on this? My computer is kaput and I want to root

Difference between cf-root 6.4 and 6.3?

I originally rooted my S3 using cf-root 6.3. I've since upgraded to a custom JellyBean ROM (Wanam Lite). Should I now be using cf-root 6.4? If so, do I simply use ODIN to install it over the previous version? What are the differences between the two versions?
Is there a changelog? It's probably just updated versions of superuser and the root APKS etc.
If you are already rooted then you don't need to flash anything.
