Help Me! - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello . My Phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) used to connect to PC all the time until yesterday suddenly it stopped.I had that Samsung driver installed.I tried uninstalling then re installing..Still not working ..I downloaded Kies ..Nothing worked.I had read reviews about people solving their problem in the device manger.(Right click on My computer>Manage>Device Manager)I searched for my phone name and i found it.It had a yellow exclamation mark on it. I right clicked it >Update driver Software.I tried searching online but it wasn't found so i had to browse my computer for driver software. It is found in C:/Windows/System32 ... but then it gave me an error "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. USB Composite Device Access is denied". I think it is something in permissions that i should change .By the way I am logged in as the admin of Pc. Please Help .It's so important for me.I think it has something to do with permissions..

Try using another cable and see.
After that, I can suggest that you uninstall the driver on your PC, reboot the PC and then connect your phone again.

Maybe something from here ?
My issue was resolved with uninstalling drivers from device manager, rebooting computer + phone and then reconnecting them. Also try switching ADB debugging off.
Note: I do not use Kies and don't recommend its drivers. Windows 7 can handle the device itself.

[Q] SGS 2 Drivers (CDC Serial & SAMSUNG_Android)

Hi,
Does somebody know where I can get the drivers in title!!
I have a brand new SGS2 and would like to root the thing. But it's a bit more tricky the my old SGS
In my device manager win7 x64 - I get warning on "CDC serial & SAMSUNG Android"
I have Kies and Android SDK installed and it will still not find the drivers.
Thanks in advance.
have you plugged in the phone while kies is running mine wouldnt install the drivers till i did that.
Its the same for me on one of my computers. It was all done correctly, but no drivers are found. Ive tried repeatedly and have uninstalled and reinstalled Kies but it makes no difference.
Go to Kies directory in Program Files you will find a directory something like "USB Driver"
inside of it there's USB Driver for Galaxy S II, install it.
Problem solved.

maybe this will help someone as well. I had the same problems as you above with these driver not installing. So what i did was the following
installed samsung kies V.2.2.2.11044 with the tel hooked up to the usb and the computer. I did not have USB debugging on in the : settings/applications/usb debug (unchecked)
then I let kies start did not find the drives, so I unhooked the tel. ( galaxy s2) and I enable USB debugging, plugged it in again, started kies and it found all rivers.. NOTE.. it found all drivers but I do not use kies other then to get the drives, I use Odin 1.8.5 which after this , Odin worked just fine.. so you can still upgrade, just without using this Samsung Kies. which sucks anyway
best
This worked for me:
Install kies and open it, connect you phone and let windows attempt to install drivers, then click tools drop down menu and click 'install driver', kies will then download the drivers for the phone.
kies v. 2.0.1.11053_99
Kies -> Tools -> Install driver
XD
it worked!

i did this, then i get a Windows 7 popup on the bottom right saying installing drivers, but it fails and both CDC Serial and SAMSUNG_Android have a red X beside them. so frustrating
Kies
I have tried all of the suggestions above except turning on USB debugging. None have worked.
different attempts give me different messages
Installing drivers does nothing.
Sometimes plug in says missing MTP
Sometimes plug in says missing CDC
Sometimes device recognized completely.
All cases, first plug in while kies is running causes kies' "devicemanager.exe" to crash followed by infinite connecting loop.
Any ideas PLEASE PM let me know
Manually install drivers but instead of choosing Samsung MTP drivers choose Mass Storage Drivers.
Update Driver >> Install from PC >> First Browse to the Program Files/Samsung/usb drivers folder then >> I want to choose from PC >> Choose Mass Storag e Driver.
Worked for me just now.
not working
I have tried all solutions from this thread. Still have the CDC error in my device manager on the PC.

Anyone can help me?
Thank you!

Great fix, worked for me. Thank you
I Solved the issue this way::
Issue: Samsung Galaxy SII didn't find driver after kies update.
Solution: Uninstall the old kies completely + Samsung USB Driver..... which is installed.
Delete the files completely from program files to make sure we get everything new during next install... U may need to use a safe mode boot sometimes for a full delete.
Download latest kies from samsung.com to get an original fresh one.
Then do the install.. Plug in phone...
Hi all,
I have the build 2.1.0.11095_121 and I can get my sg2 to be recognised anymore.
I have tried uninstalling and debug and off. No joy.
Does this mean I won't be able to root or load apps on from eclipse?
Any ideas to fix arggghh?
I have tried all above solutions but this what helped me was go to Kies directory -> USB Driver and start setup All problems gone and Kies is running now.
Always the simplest solution is the hardest to find

My computer won't recognize my galaxy mobile

Hi,
I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy GT I9100.
When I connect it to my computer I get a popup that an unrecognized usb was connected.
I tried downloading Kies but that didn't help either.
I think that my driver of Samsung got deleted somehow..and I have no idea how to install it on my computer.
Thanks in advance...
See the guide mentioned in my sig (vv)...from there, download samsung usb drivers (its there under pre-requisites) and install them...
{Don't do anything else from that guide, its not for your phone}
Also check whether android debugging is checked or not...
Installing kies should have installed the drivers, but this ^ you can try and see if it works...
Typed using a small touchscreen
I installed it and i still get the popup when i connect my device to my computer that an unrecognized usb was connected
You tried the built in windows troubleshooter? [I know its no good, coz if kies and usb drivers don't do the trick, I frankly don't think this will either...]
I could tell you to wipe data, but even that would be like shooting an arrow in the dark...
Typed using a small touchscreen
Yea I tried that already =\
Maby it's something with the hardware?
I doubt, but wouldn't rule out the possibility...
Try connecting to a different pc (which has latest kies installed)...
If that doesn't work, take it to service center...(I assume you haven't yet rooted/flashed anything)
Typed using a small touchscreen
I tried connecting it to another computer(without kies though so i'll install kies there)
that's the thing, i tried rooting it and i couldn't due to the fact that my computer didn't recognize my device.
thanks for the help btw...

[Q] Help restoring my rooted, S-OFF, moonshine DNA to stock

Hey!
This is my first time posting, but I have read tons of threads on here over the last year or so with my Droid DNA.
A while ago, I rooted my DNA, and unlocked the Bootloader, and used moonshine for S-OFF. I now want to undo all that I have done. Wiping data is no issue, I backed up all my info. I plan to get a new phone soon. Basically, I can't get adb drivers to work. So I deleted my drivers, and installed the ones mentioned in the thread linked below, and I can't find how to get these drivers to work.
My plan is to follow this thread, using step 3 (for moonshine). I have TWRP installed, and flashed the lock_bootlader.zip file provided there. I cannot get adb to work, however, for the next step. For example, "adb devices" returns no devices. And thus i cannot use adb commands. When I run "adb devices", it shows this. What do I do??
Thanks
Some more clarification:
I might also add that Device manager shows my phone as "HTC6435LVW", under "Portable Devices". It seems to recognize it as an MTP Device when I try to update the drivers, and won't let me update the drivers, because "The best driver software for your device is already installed".
In addition, HTC Sync Manager does not recognize my phone either. I should mention that I already chose "Reset Phone" from the Settings menu, and then also did a Factory Reset from TWRP.
I'm so confused by all this - Why can't I get ADB to recognize it?? I have been and will continue to be searching for solutions to this problem here on XDA and also on Google. And do I even need to do all this to give my phone back to Verizon?
Try getting the drivers from PDAnet. If you are using Windoze 8 or 8.1 , good luck.

I tried that, it gets stuck at the USB Driver Installation page, when it asks to connect your phone. I have USB debugging enabled, and I even installed PdaNet on my phone to try to use their "USB Mode". The DNA has not USB options for Mass Storage, etc like the pdanet driver help page ( pdanet . co / driver ) (It wont let me post a link because I'm a new user, sorry) tells me to look for.
Windows device manager does not recognize it as an Android phone, but instead as a portable device, could this be a problem?
Thanks for your reply
I am very interested in this as I am having a similar problem. This is the guide I attempted numerous times with no success http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293919.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try it when I get home and report back with an edit to this post!
EDIT: Nope, didn't work. Momentarily, I got it to install drivers. During that time, adb worked but not fastboot. So then I deleted the drivers to try to reinstall for fastboot, and now neither of them works.

[Q] Windows 7 cannot load the driver needed for Samsung Galaxy S2 -Error code 31.

Hi ,
I AM Windows 7 - 32 bit user .
I just sat down to write all the details after reading all the threads available in google regarding error code 31 problem . Lot of blogs i refered but still my Problem is not solved.
So let me elaborate my issue . I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100) . I never had any problems in connecting my mobile with windows 7. whenever i connect it , it gets detected and works fine till last month. But now suddenly my mobile is not getting detected in my PC. I cant transfer important files from PC to mobile. My mobile uses Android version 4.1.2
In the Device manager section when i try to view what is the problem , The device name is there in universal bus controllers with a yellow color exclamation mark . When i try to fix the issue and trouble shoot it , nothing seems to work .
WINDOWS CANNOT THE LOAD THE DRIVER FOR THIS DEVICE. Error code 31 ---> this message pops up. I tried to uninstall and update the driver , then also its not getting updated, it tells access is denied , contact ur manufacturer support for further assistance it is telling.
1)I have tried it in different ports
2) I tried installing the PC kies 3 from Samsung Page itself . installed Kies still device is not detectd.
3) Tried to fix this issue reading the previous threads and posts. not able to solve at all
4)Tried deleting the UPPER FILTERS .
The phone is charging well and is working perfectly. I tried to connect it with different cable (assuming its a cable problem) still no use.
In my Device , ----> went to Developr Options checked and uncheckd the USB debugging mode--> No use .
Tried to update the driver via online software, (Windows suggested trouble shooter solution). ---> No use.
uninstalled and again installed KIES ----> NO use.
The yellow exclamation mark is alone prominent in device manager section with error code 31.
Some one please please Help me out . Will be very thankful if you can help me in this. Not only me , My brother has GALAXY S duos, his mobile also is not detected in my PC.
Tried doing all things that are possible
I downloaded the driver needed to be installed from the samsung website itself , when i try to install it , i am not able to
THe message i get is ---> UR phone is in use , disconnect it and then install This message pops up even when my device is not connected.
Access is denied to install the drivers.
Somehow please fix this , after asking many users and consulting many friends i came to know that my Device is not having any problem and its the WINDOWS 7 which is causing a big problem.
the device which got connected and was working fine , suddenly throws a error like this . i am totally fed up . PLEASE help.

Given it's more than likely (99.9999%) a Windoze problem, what exactly do you expect anyone here to do about it (or Samsung for that matter) ?

i tried to install a driver but i don't think i found the good one , do you have any link or what i should look for exactly ?
The latest version of SmartSwitch should have it unless Samsung didn't update it
Another reason I never upgrade firmware...
well it doesn't work hahaha even a thing to re install the driver in smart switch but it doesn't work , yay
In device management, scan for new drives command, can you see it then?
Check Event Viewer for error messages too.
mhhh scanning for hardware change does nothing and i don't see anything about my device manager or usb for in event viewer :/

What has the fact you can't boot phone into EDL-mode to do with default Windows 11 OS USB- driver ( what is USB Generic Parent Driver - Usbccgp.sys )?
If suitable ADB-driver is installed on PC then you can boot the phone into EDL-mode ( AKA Download mode ).
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot edl
FYI:
Please keep in mind that Windows app Odin only works flawlessly when phone is booted in the EDL.
Latest VersionOdin v3.14.4Release Year2022
NOTE:
Always install and use the USB drivers for Android as provided by OEM: Both ODIN and Samsung USB drivers are 100% compatible with any Samsung smartphone or tablet.

Think back to when this started. What was added or changed? You can still do a factory reset from Settings. The new Samsung's are fubar... I don't need any external connection to invoke the boot menu on my N10+'s.
Another reason not to use Samsung again.
