Unfortunately the .402 update has brought at least one new feature which is really unnerving me.
In browsers based on Android Kitkat's own rendering engine (Chrome, Habit Browser and many others) there is now a one-finger-zoom like in Google Maps: Tap twice, then hold, then drag finger for zooming in or out.
This totally smashes the browsing experience because, when I scroll fast through webpages, again and again the browser registers double-taps&hold and zooms although I don't want it!!
I absolutely don't need this one-finger zoom crap! (May be useful on a smaller phone which is operated one-handedly, but not on a tablet!)
Anyone a clue how this behavior can be disabled??
Also,mi think that they screwed up tapping on links I chrome. Now I have to tap it two or more times if it is not zoomed. Thos problems ocurrs only in chrome

Yes, in Chrome or Chrome-derived browsers the click behavior is worse than before. I also have to click more than once sometimes, and it is simply more sluggish, while with .36 links reacted perfectly and very snappy...

Is there a way to disable the double-tap zoom on the web browser for 2.1 root? It's very irritating since every time I tap on a text field, it auto double taps and zooms in. It is just very inconvenient for me.
Get a better browser...
Opera
Dolphin
etc
etc
What if I'm happy with the browser I'm using? I've tried other browsers and I just don't like them.
You clearly aren't happy with your current browser if its doing something you don't want it too...
Asking on here won't get you much else. I'm assuming you have checked the settings. What do you expect from us? There is no magic off button that is hidden away afaik.
FYI - try running the ACID3 test on the built in browser and then tell me you're happy with it...
I'm not sure exactly what this test proves, but I scored a 99/100 on the default browser.
It's just a little annoyance. I was only wondering if there was a way to do so that isn't within a normal method to disable.
I don't expect anything, I was just curious if someone had insight.
Does anyone have problems with scrolling windows in Dolphin HD?
eg when I'm in Hotmail, the window won't scroll down at all, just displays as many messages as fit on the screen, with no obvious way to scroll down. Have also tried using the gesture to scroll to end of page, but the browser doesn't seem to recognise there is more to the page.
No problems, but I'm using Mini version.

i have had it happen randomly. luckily, going to portrait gives me more page space, and zooming still works
Same problem in Google Reader.
I have problems time to time, with specific web pages.. but those pages have problems with Windows 7 & Firefox also
It's because of embedded java or flash crap inside web page.
Edit: Scroll works in those pages after you zoom it bigger, also links don't work before zoom..
There are some problems with scrollbars in Android. If you have a scrollbar into another scrollbar (for example an iframe) one of these scrollbars won't work. They said it's for make a better surfing experience

I belive that Dolphin is utilizing the base stock browser for rendering, and the scrolling problem also happens with that one. (I've seen it on Android 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 devices so far.)
A workaround that usually works is to zoom in the page a little, and it should then be scrollable...
When scrolling through a website on the browser I have noticed that if you start scrolling strictly vertically or horizontally the browser "sticks" in this direction for while, and then lets go. The scrolling is not completely fluid. I find this EXTREMELY annoying especially when trying to scroll in a diagonal direction.
Is there any way to remove this vertical & horizontal "scroll lock"
i noticed this too on a few occasions. at first it got me worried that there was a zone in the screen not registering touch input (i had this issue on my atrix which is why i ditched it).
but i haven't really had any problems anywhere else...
i heard there was an app out that fixes some sensitivity issues for the sgs2. try 'touchscreen booster' from the market and play with the settings a bit. let me know if that fixes your problem
I have the touch screen sensitivity app already ( which is included in a lot of kernels). i noticed the scrolling improvement thought the phone but still have the same issue with the browser. im suprissed that this isnt a hot topic. i hope some one can figure it out eventually.

It isnt a hot topic because its not an issue everyone is getting....so far only two of you are reporting it
It doesnt happen to my stock browser, or my friends
It might help if we knew what firmware you are running
Plus, this has nothing to do with development - this should be in Q&A

I think this is a "feature" to make it easy to scrool up/down and left/right(So you don't have to adjust if you read a long page).

+1. This is a "feature" lol. And I like it. It would be hard to read long pages without it.
lol'd
I'd resurrect this topic, because this problem is driving me nuts.
I LOVED scroll lock, and now after ICS update there are only problems. The only browser that I found to offer working scroll lock is Firefox, but it has some disadvantages. Opera Mobile has partially good scrolling, but double-tap-to-zoom fails if you disable text wrapping.
Now I use Firefox + Tasker to kill it when it's in background. I got used to scroll lock so much with stock SGS2 browser and exPDF that I can't comfortably read stuff without it. Today I also tried Boat Browser, Dolhpin, Maxthon, Skyfire, and they all failed. Can't they make browser that would behave just like exPDF? There are tons of features, but I think that web browser is actually for reading stuff.
Thats my question It happens here on xda for example. You're writing something and all of a sudden the cursor is on the first line at the beginning ofthe post.
Is there a way to prevent that from happening? Btw it also happens if you disable the trackpad, so its not due to accidentally hitting it while typing. Maybe its a problem with the browser? Gonna test it on opera now.
Just writing this post to test if it still happens with the ICS+ browser. I really like the look and feel of the stock browser especially with the keyboard shortcuts, its just awesome to switch through the tabs for example.
So far so good didnt jump and just seems more stable on a first look. Gonne be using this for a while and keep you updated.
Maybe it's because the touch pad doesn't disable while you are typing (palm check) and you are accidentally bumping your palm on it. Try disabling the touch pad while you type and see if that works.

But thx for your post anyway.
Btw it also happens on the ICS+ browser Guess i'll have to wait for an update then. Or the keyboard shortcuts being implemented on another browser.
Sorry for reviving my old thread, but this is still a major annoyance when writing forum posts and stuff...
Definately would be nice to get a fix for that!
[e] as usual i find a solution or a workaround right after posting a problem Using chrome beta since half an hour and made several posts, cursor never jumped to first line.
Now all they have to do is improve the keyboard shortcuts on the browser and enable flash support and gestures like on ICS+. I'm so used to go back/forward with swipes i cant live without them anymore :/
Chrome Browser did NOT solve this for me
This has been one of the biggest annoyances I have had with the Prime, and it happens to me on ALL browsers: Opera, ICS ++, Dolphin, Boat, you name it. It is so freaking annoying that I often switch to my PC when on XDA and typing responses.... Its any type of text box on a web platform in my case. I will be mid-stream typing, and all of a sudden I am at the top, in the first character position.
Annoying as ****! (I might have mentioned that)
It's ICS related, not Prime. Happens on my Galaxy Nexus too. PITA.
Is there any way to get text reflow in the browser (preferably the default one or Chrome) ? I've searched the forum and pinch zoom then double tap seems to work for somebody on eg SGSII, but it appears that it's 50/50 if people reports that it works or not. In the default browser there's an option to "Auto-fit pages", but that doesn't seem to have anything to do with text reflow.
It's really annoying to not have that feature. That (and the dialer) is something I really miss from my time as an HTC user.
I'm not sure if that feature has other names than "text reflow"... so what I'm talking about is when, in the browser, you zoom in alot and the text rearranges itself so you don't have to scroll sideways all the time to read it. I find that feature especially handy while reading while I walk.
If it's called something else, please let me know so I can search the forum again.
Anyone? Am I the only one missing this feature?

No, but I think the rest of the people are using other browsers
I really miss this feature, had it on HD2 CM7 based ROM. The native SGS3 browser got a similar option, indeed. There is a major difference, though. It only reflows the text once, and only does it for the zoom amount you specify on double tap, not just any arbitrary zoom level
Try opera browser... It has text reflow in it...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5vcGVyYS5icm93c2VyIl0.
The point is, the system natively had it integrated. The native browser would reflow, as well as ANYTHING using webview, such as gReader etc. If anyone finds out how to hack it in, i would gladly hear (and do so).
