your sim card does not allow connection to this network 311660 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys.
I just bought a unlocked HTC Vivid X710a on ebay. I received it and took off the sim card from my Metro PCS phone and placed it in the HTC.
However I am getting this error message when I try to connect to the Metro PCS network (311660)
"your sim card does not allow connection to this network"
What should I do?
Thanks

same
same issue here

Maybe the phone is blocked from that network by IMEI.

To follow up, I placed a T-Mobile Sim Card on it and it worked perfectly.
what do you guys think? Could it be a sim card problem? but if so, why does it work on my metro pcs phone?

Problem solved.
Metro PCS Sim cards are locked to only one phone. Went to the store and the assigned the new phone for a 16$ charge.

[Q] Vibrant unlock help.

Hi, I'm new to the forums and new to unlocking phones. But I wanted to unlock my vibrant, I have my unlock and unfreeze codes but when I put a different sim card in it just tells me to call customer care and gives me no option to put in an unlock code. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Different sim card have to be from different service provider like at&t.
This is first time I hear that unlocking option won't appear after installing different sim card !
I tried using a net 10 trac fone sim card, since I read from other people on here they said it would work. but when i put it in and start the phone i can use my phone but when I go to the call screen it says "sim card crash - Please contact customer service". So Im gonna try an at&t card(with data plan) from my friend hopefully it works. Also I have another question like I said Im new to this stuff. If I still use my tmobile sim card can I still connect to at&t's internet/data?
I would think that to access AT&T's network services, you would need to have the AT&T sim installed in the phone.
You have to put different sim card other than T-Mobile to get unlock code screen !

Dude WOLF, not to be rude but if you read I put a NET 10 TRAC Fone sim in, not a t-mobile.
anyways on a better note. I finally have it unlocked! I put in a friends boost mobile sim, Screen popped up and put the code in. sweet.

Nope...you'd need to put in an AT&T SIM that's tied to an AT&T account with a data plan.

sarcasim is a good thing but maybe you aren't comprehending what i am saying duhh!!
i own NSPRO box and have unlocked the galaxy S phones quite frequently, the phone is sim unlocked for any sim card or gsm carrier, what i am saying has nothing to do with unlocking with the sim card in( which i tried for ****s and giggles). the problem is the vibrant is not recognized on the network , i have tried my sim and several other t-mobile sims the phone doedn't receive signal on t-mobile network or simple mobile( which is a NVO of t-mobile)so what i am asking is does t-mobile block imei's from their network and is their a solution other then changing imei of the phone which i do not wish to do although i can change imei i will not since it is illegal.
the problem
let me clarify it actually says on the screen
"not registered on network"
anyway to register it on system???
its unlocked and works on at&t, h2o and all other gsm carriers except t-mobile and simple mobile
clone another imei, that will solve this problem, There is an app that allows you to give you a new I D # to your phone
I am same problem here everytime try to make call it says "Not Registered on the Network", SIM card works fine on different phone, also other SIM when inserted on Vibrant gives same message.
Under Settings> Wireless> Mobile network settings does not allow access...
Can someone help resolve this situation.
Thanks,
I am also
having the same problem. I purchased a used Vibrant from my friend whom defaulted on his bill so he sold his phone to me. When I attempt to use the T Mobile prepaid SIM or a regular T Mobile SIM it will not allow me to connect to the network. It stays on (Searching) or (No Service) but the date and time updates so I know it is connecting, just not able to use the network. Is there anyway to get around this problem or do I need to root and unlock to go to another carrier?
Hi guys I am having similar issue, please help
I was using bionix 1.3.1 by team whiskey, whats your advice do I change to ICS, will that solve the problem or simple radio upgrade will solve the matter? I have gone through several sites and found that this problem is with many android mobiles since last 2-3 years. Is there no solution to this yet! I have tried Airplane mode, removing battery, downloading autocut and all those basic methods but to no help ...
I have the same problem, did anybody find a solution?
I tried everything, flashed to stock, GB, ICS, JB.
My phone is unlocked and it only works on AT&T, the sim card is good, as I'm using it on my backup phone.

Same here. This all happened when I let my friend borrow my phone to put his SIM on it. It was a prepaid Simple Mobile SIM. It didn't work but after I went to put my SIM card back into my Vibrant, the phone never got service.
Funny thing is, my SIM works on one of my older phones, so I know the SIM still works, but my Vibe gets messages like "out of service" and "not registered on network" even through it still has some bars.
I think the problems relates to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37703090#post37703090
Somehow the bands on your device is messed up so you never get a signal. Not sure how to fix it but any solutions would be great.

SIM card could be corrupt. Test in another mobile phone.
If SIM card is OK, maybe it was not correctly inserted into the smartphone. Check position and (electric) contacts if possible.
If SIM card is Ok and inserted properly, then it could be a (hardware) problem with the smartphone. Test with another SIM card, which works in a mobile phone.
Good luck !
thanks

[Q] Overseas with VZW Galaxy S4 - Something to note..

I am here in Singapore with my Verizon Galaxy S4 and it is indeed unlocked, however, there's a small issue.
I picked up a pre-paid SIM card from Singtel. Inserted into the phone, was able to add the APN information. Get to the last step that says dial *363 to activate the SIM card and that's where the wheels fell off the wagon. Every time I dialed *363 (per the instructions on the SIM card) the phone kept coming back with an Invalid MMI code..
Eventually, the only way to activate the SIM card was to have the SingTel put the SIM in his phone and do the *363 to go through the process.
Anyone else experience something similar with a pre-paid SIM over seas?
I did not have this problem. I am using a prepaid SIM in europe (T-mobile de). I had to set the phone to GSM (or global), enter the APN info, and then dial the activation number. It all went well, without problems.

I wonder if it is the MMI code that SingTel uses. Anyway, definitely doesn't work for Singapore.

[Q] No Sim Card Error

Oddly enough, my sim tray will only work with only one sim. And unfortunately, it is a broadband sim. Where I can't text and call. When it comes to regular sims, it would do say 'no SIM card.' Does anybody know what to do? Thanks
I am having the same kind of issue as well. I have a att i717 on stock 4.1.2 no root and sim carrier unlocked. Actually I have 2 EXACTLY the same, the one I've been using for 6 months with a cricket sim card have had no issues. With this 2nd i717 that I got yesterday, its now sim unlocked not rooted on 4.1.2, just like mine, my cricket sim works in it just fine but my sons metro pcs sim doesn't. My goal is for my son to have the exact same phone as me but with his metro pcs sim. Any help please? My son goes back to his moms tomorrow night and was really hoping he can go back with his big o phone working with his metro pcs sim.
Now I'm soo broke I can't even pay attention!
[SOLVED]
Everyone, after months of waiting and keeping it in stock condition, my sim is now working. After playing with sim tray, I solved it. Just keep the metal frames up, all the metal frames.
