I am out of town working and I didn't bring a computer :banghead:
So I want to try an experiment , but I need someone's help to do this.
Can someone with voodoo ota backup their root and upload it here?
I am thinking I can put it on my sd card and simply "restore root" ???
Simple enough right?

I don't think that will work since Voodoo needs some sort of entry so you (or it) can flash the new/old root access.
This at least requires a hacked recovery or CWM since the Samsung-official one does not allow unsigned code to be loaded.

Yeah the root backup is stored in the system...not in the sd like I thought.
I pretty much gave up. I will be home tonight so I can use my computer to root...ouch, that was a painful week with no root

So I use Odin and the snapdragon tool kit to root my phone. I have the stock rooted Rom that came with the toolkit. Right now I have to use the snapdragon toolkit to install Roms but want to be able to use clockworkmod cuz I don't always have my computer with me. So is there anyway to do that? And also what is the best ROM for the sg3

Go to the following link. just download CF kernel latest version. install it using ODIN. that's it you are done now you will be able to use CLOCKWORKMOD.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
There are 2 ways to access CWM
1. press VOL UP+HOME+POWER, keep it pressed till samsung logo appears, than let it go.
2. in your app drawer there will be an app CWM, open it than tap on recovery mode and it will boot in CWM.

One question and that is important..if you have a GT-I9300 international version which has Exynos chipset why are you using Snapdragon Toolkit?
and if you have any other version of S3..why are you posting it here?

Sprint has its own forum for the sgs3 varient.......thats where you will get help from.
we can help you, but all the files/tools/roms/and Mods are of pretty much no use to you. so it makes sense to get info from people who have the same device.

Use the galaxy s3 toolkit best way for root I think just read it carefully and use the right variant model and update eg 4.1.2 and not earlier very simple

I found the easiest was was to use cf auto root through Odin on windows laptop and then install a recovery using ROM manager from the play store.. And then away ya go! Don't forget to back up before ya change anything

Rom manager is not such a good idea with the S3. Safer to use mobile odin and Flash a recovery that way.

I didn't realise it wasn't a good idea to use ROM manager with the s3.. Why is that then? I went that way because my laptop is a Macbook and hiemdall didn't seem to work well so I had a quick ten mins on a laptop at work with Odin to root and then I only had my Macbook to use so ROM manager is the way I went too manager seems to be the same thing as well

From experience I can say that using ROM Manager can soft brick your device. I once wanted to use it with my old S2 to install CWM and I got into a bootloop afterwards. Only re-flashing a Samsung ROM via Odin helped to boot into Android.
One of the easiest way (in my opinion) to root your device is to flash a Kernel via Odin that will give you Root. The Siyah Kernel is a good place to start, since the developer also provides tar files for odin to flash. It will give you Root and from then on you can install Stweaks and flash CWM from there.
I wish i d of spoke to u a few months ago when I first rooted cause I buggered about with it for weeks! I didn't realise you could install recovery from steaks either.. Have you got much apple Mac/android sync experience?.. I can only describe it as trying to get arch rivals to mate!.. Might just dual boot windows on the Macbook if I can't get them to play nice

You might want to quit those updates you won't get far also many apps and features aren't in those versions. If your looking to upgrade to something newer I suggest android 4.2.2 it is very stable. I don't think you will like many features so I think either my ROM supernexus or cm will be the best for your liking. I recommend supernexus it is very fast and stable. The fascinate has stopped at the android version of 2.3 released by samsung . Developers have made it possible to install later versions not made by Samsung
Idc what android version I've tried everything and nothing works.

before switching to a cyanogenmod rom. I hope this helps.
Also the latest version of Odin is 3.0.4 -- or something close to that.
when I rooted my fassy back in the day these guides listed above we like gold to me ::good:

Did you remove the battery when trying to get into DL mode? On mine, the battery has to be removed.

the one that came with cm10.1 is the newest one i think. no standalone recovery, on this device you get recoveries by flashing kernels, and there's a nicely compiled list of kernels from different ROMs here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149067

Yes it's possible. You can go to the towelroot site on your phone and click the lamda to download the apk file. Then browse to that file on your phone, install and run.
Note: You will need to have install from unknown sources checked. It may prompt during the install to adjust that setting. Otherwise, you may need to do that before.

Glad you got it rooted. I'm still researching the custom rom option because everything I read says that any install of a custom recovery App will trip the knox counter. On my old AT&T S5 with a locked bootloader, I had Safestrap recovery installed which seemed to get around this issue and allow custom roms to be loaded without tripping knox.
