Only way to root a LTE version currently is to unlock the bootloader. Remember if you unlock you loose mobile Bravia Engine 2,permanently.

Yes. If you have .253 you will not be able to root with a locked bootloader currently. You have to unlock to root.
Have a look in this forum. Other people have asked the same question.

Yes if you have root. But you don't. It is a catch 22. To get root you need to unlock. When you unlock you loose the keys. The user users on the phone, The Xperia Z also have tha same issue but they can downgrade and then root, backup keys unlock bootloader and restore keys. Well that is how I understand it.

if you have operator device (e.g. orange, verizon, etc), there is no way to unlock your bootloader.
I bought my phone in China and China Unicom/Telecom/Mobile . Why i can't see 4.3 update on Sony PC Companion? Because of China Mobile?(China Unicom, Telecom).
Please help Thank you..
Afraid that if you bought the phone through the operator and they brand the rom (I imagine a Chinese one would be branded), then you'll have to wait a couple of weeks as Sony release the update to them first so they can check their branding still works ok with the changes and then it gets released to us.
The guys who've already got it are guys who bought it up front.

I thought that Norway hadn't gotten it yet, but then something hit me. I changed my CDA to Germany when I was updating from 532 to 257 (to get the OTA). So I changed it back to Norway and voila; I got the update.
And yes, you have to be rooted to change it.

Hi All,
May I know how can I restore my Z Ultra 6833 to Stock ROM (HK) from custom rom?
Many Thanks!

Do you want to relocate the bootloader?
Either way you will just have to flash a FTF for your model. More steps if you want to lock the bootloader.

I don't need to lock the bootloader, flash it into factory Rom is fine.
Then just grab the FTF you want and the latest flashtool

May I know where can I download the Factory KitKat Rom for HK Z Ultra 6833?
Many Thanks!
Instead of typing out "Where can I find....." why not just take the 2 mins and look for it?
Took me less than 2 mins to find the thread with all of the stock ftf files.
Many welcomes

Its not about warranty, its about development. You wont be able to unlock bootloader and flash custom roms, if you dont care, then go ahead, there are no other differences, since you can flash generic firmware and get rid of vodafone stuff if you want to.

Christ.. Please pay attention, i wont repeat again. You CANT unlock bootloader, and you CANT flash custom made roms, as in the ones you can find in development section. What you can do, is flash generic sony firmware, basically same vodafone rom just without all vodafone apps and branding.

Hello everyone
I have been waiting for some time to update my XPERIA XA ULTRA to Nougat 7.0 and have been observing that many people are up to date with the update and would like to know if I can download and install the update manually.
If so, they could help me with the steps and the tools to do it.
Thank you very much.

No, I am waiting for my device to be updated in Guatemala I have it with a carrier here in my country, and I want to know if I can manually put it either with flashtool or from the bootloader update.
(sorry for my bad english )
To use flash tool you would need to have your bootloader unlocked.
I have that most branded xa ultra can't unlock bootloader.

Mine is branded, and can't unlock, useless and ignorant policies preventing us from getting the updates ourselves as the manufacturer doesn't seem to care.
I'm rooted would to flash 7.0 but no us ftf files.
All could fine is a 7,0 Latin America generic ftf and will not take trying to flash it.

You can flash stock ROM with flashtool without unlocking bootloader.
You can regain root after flashed to 7.0 (.182) by flashing boot followed by TWRP.
