[Q] Please help badly!! Droid razr maxx no os - Motorola Droid RAZR

Okay so I am a newbie to rooting and have safestrap and rom toolbox on my phone and a few other things. I backed up my data and system of my stock rom. I then booted back into my stock with no problem . I then proceeded to make boot back to safestrap and make a rom, because I realized that I needed a rom to fool around in. I made the rom and realized that I needed a an actual downloaded rom.zip to make it work. The video I watched was very misleading, and I didn't pay attention to well, so I feel very ****ty for possibly ending my phone. So I pressed on my stock rom to activate and resumed to press the reboot the system and saw NO OS! I thought easy fix and tried to restore from the back up I made when I started this. It did its thing and failed over and over saying unable to mount /data , /cache , /system. I now don't know what to do. Is there a way to get the OS back. What did I do wrong? I really need help, I know I'm so stupid for making these mistakes didnt know fully what I was doing. Please help me get this thing back up and runnin.

Btw The software is jellybean 4.1.2 if you need to ask me any questions feel free. Thank you

If you have an XT912, use Matt's Utility from the dev section to flash your stock ROM back.
Read carefully before proceeding.
You'll need to install Moto drivers.

Would I just run the jellybean no wipe data official software? . And I'm still in safestrap menu. Can't leave that.

Ok so I seem to have fixed the problem by shutting my phone down holding power, and booting in to ap fastboot, i realized my phone wasnt recognized by the computer, had a heart attack and booted back into normal mode. i then loaded into safestrap again and saw that all the memory was showing for my stock rom, then i rebooted the system and didnt get the no OS message , idk what happened or why it did this, can anyone possible explain? thank you

Glad you fixed..

RAZR XT910 GSM MODEL ROOT and CWM

Hi there....i recently purchased a Razr and had many problems gaining root and flashing ROMS. It took me over 3 days to figure out, and i just want to post my experiences and advise people who may be struggling. I have a XT 910 model GSM as i live in UK. I originally rooted using Doomlord V2 Zergrush and that worked fine while i was on GB 2.3.5. I had an OTA update to 2.3.6 and i lost root. Zergrush didn't work on my model again, so i had to use motofail which worked perfectly.
When installing recovery, i installed safestrap first. I could enter CWR on reboot, but ROMS would not install. I would get a black screen, and then i would have to do a hard reset to get my phone working again. I would still be in stock. The reason for this is because safestrap isnt working on GSM phones. (International models, well some of them!) Safestrap works on CDMA models such as in USA. The reason for this is because the system partition on EU GSM models(XT910) is smaller than the partition on CDMA USA models (XT912). So, we have no choice but to use bootstrap.
If you installed safestrap and experienced these problems, make sure you boot into CWR, advanced, mounts and storage, and format system. Then uninstall. If you install bootstrap without doing this, you wont be able to enter CWR in bootstrap. You will end up stuck at the motorola splash screen and will have to hard reset everytime. You will not get any further.
If you uninstalled safestrap without doing this, reinstall it, and do this, then uninstall recovery from the app and make sure you completely remove it from the device system. Then install bootstrap.
There will be an additional file you will need to save to your SD card named RAZR-CWMonboot-Global-J.Y.Daddy.zip. Select bootstrap recovery and "success" should appear. Then, select reboot recovery, and hopefully, you should enter CWR mode on reboot. Make sure you install RAZR-CWMonboot-Global-J.Y.Daddy.zip file from your SD card. Everytime you flash a file ALWAYS flash this file before rebooting. Everytime you flash a file you are writing over you system, so it is important you do this or you wont be able to enter CWR if you ever get a bootloop or stuck etc....
Once you have flashed the ROM of your choice, and rebooted ,go into your Superuser app and toggle bootstrap into denied. There's a face at the bottom of Superuser app....make sure bootstrap is denied. Thats it!
This is what worked for me...UK model XT910 on O2 network. I'm by no means an expert, but i have worked on a couple phones. Motorola Atrix was my last one, so i have a bit of an idea. If i can help...please message me and i'm more than willing if i can. I dont have links to these files but you can google them. I had so many problems, but hopefully my post will help someone. If so, please "like".
Nice write up to help. One suggestion dont take this wrong but maybe separate into paragraphs. I had a hard time reading line by line.
Thanks. I will write paragraphs next time! I will bear that in mind. Sorry if anyone is struggling to read this line by line.

It's not annoying thing, but it's a feature thing. It useful when your RAZR got problem & cant boot to home screen. You can flash sbf or wipe from CWM Recovery

CWM and Stock Recovery
Please could some tell me if on my GSM Razr I update it with
Retail.en.EU ICS Leak 672.180.33 thru Stock Recovery, and afterwards I decide to flash J Y Daddy's CWM, would I now have access to both CWM as well as Stock Recovery? Or does it wipe Stock Recovery if CWM gets installed? thx
THANK YOU!

No one could help me with my problem, but that solved it.
I'd installed safestrap when I bought the RAZR 7 Months ago and I didn't had a clue that the problem was there.
Did exactly what you wrote and now I can use CWM again with BootMenu Manager
THANKS
Great post mate, I like you, lost root and never got it back so stopped trying. There are so many versions of the phone out there, its really confusing which method, files etc to use for UK phone
I rooted my old htc desire and jumped between roms all the time and loved being able to do that, but the razr, I have tried a leak or a custom rom yet
Thanks Again
P.S. as for the comment on paragraphs that's been made, maybe you could edit your post to sort into these, this will then help everyone even more.

Leave it to me to prove a guide wrong that is not supposed to go wrong.

I upgraded my Razr to the early ICS release months ago. I did lose some features that I had came to love in gingerbread. The guide I used said that at the time it unable to be reverted back, so I just lived with it.
I used my son's Razr that used the OTA upgrade, and it had the other features working correctly, so I was wanting to go to the newest version.
I followed the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735935 and got the "Preflash validation failure" on a couple of lines and an unable to find cdrom error during step 5.
Now it shows the dual core logo, and goes no-where else. I can see that the screen is on if I turn the lights off, but I am not able to get anywhere. I have also read the atrix forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504323 about the errors. This site is becoming so massive that things are getting hard to find. I also followed some other suggestions on other sites, but still nothing.
There are so many people here saying that it was fixed in other ways, but I cannot tell which are considered out of date, and which I should try.
I do not currently care If I go to the newest version, or go to gingerbread and then accept the OTA from Verizon.
Please help.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Just fastboot to .211 then install .215 if you want. Done.

What do you consider the easiest way to flash a rom like one of these? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518519 I do like the verizon stock, I just hate the verizon apps being forced into my rom.
I do not mind reading and following directions if you can provide link I would be thankful, I am just so unsure with so many different people saying different things here and other sites.

I too like the stock version. What I did and found it works pretty good is use matts utility to root it. I think there's a specific version for .211 and one for. 215. Then get titanium backup and freeze all the bloat ware apps you don't want running. If you do someday want them jut unfreeze them, that easy.
From how I understand it, is freezing them pretty much disables them from starting and ever running, pretty much like they aren't even installed on there. This method has worked great for me and maybe saves battery because your phone never even starts them in the background. Also when there's an OTA I think it checks for certain VZW apps and if they're not installed it won't take the OTA. with TI backup you can just unfreeze them and take the OTA. Hope this helps.

I don't like to mess with the phone with leaks and custom roms.. So i use tibu to freeze things i don't use.
Remember, the key weird us freeze, nit delete or uninstall.. Or u will have hell of u need to update future ota..

Root, install safestrap 2.0, open app and install recovery, reboot phone, when greeted by new recovery prompt press menu button, in recovery create a backup, scroll down and toggle safe system (enable safe system aka dual boot from sd card), format system, wipe data and cache, install the rom of your choice and enjoy!
If you ever want to run stock rom again, just toggle safe system again from recovery (disable it)...phone will boot phone rom again.

[Q] Safestrap 3.11 stock not booting

on ota JB Leak OTA stock.
using safestrap 3.11
rooted.
Yesterday my sound on razr maxx stopped working. Sound profile was up all the way and could make phone calls but speaker was not working.
I read I needed to restore my backup of rom because of the sound problem.
when I restored the system to the stock it would get past safestrap but then it would just blackscreen and vibrate once.
My backup did not work at all on the stock partition. I even tried a factory reset, clearing everything, cache, dalvik, system, etc and it still wouldn't restore.
So then I decided to create another rom slot and try to restore my backup it worked perfectly without an issue and booted right up.
Keep in mind this is with the stock ota jb release, not another version.
My question is how do I get the stock partition back. I tried reflashing the ota update but it needs the ics rom to update. Is there a jelly bean ota that doesn't verify the partition before installing?
Thanks a million!!!
Use this: JB xt912 unbrick utility
then use Razr Blade Root Exploit to gain root again
start all over with ss 3.11

Huh, so my Razr refuses to boot.

Short long story (well maybe not..) , a couple a days ago my Jelly Beans started acting weird, the issue was that my phone couldnt recognize the sim card and the cd card, I assumed it because I took pictures in the shower not a while ago, so I pulled out my sim card and my cd card off their deserved places, and I blew hair into the holes with my mouth, that wasnt the brightest idea since I could blew fluid into it, but, after that, my phone started repeatedly forcing closing com.android.phone, I toggled all the solutions on google I could find, but neither of them helped. so I just froze my phone app through Titanium Backup, and started looking for my own solution, like installing the app all over again through recovery and etc.
My final solution was to install the rom update I had on my int-card, hoping it would restore and recover the damaged phone application, but it ended up as my phone not booting at all.
So I went on installing a new clean Jelly Beans rom on my Razr through RSD, but no matter what I do, I keep getting the same issue.
My phone passes the M logo, but it wont even load the boot animation or the system it self.
I tried many things, and non of them worked.
I made a huge research on google and on this website to identify a way to get over my issue, but I have checked everything, and I couldnt even find someone who had the issue I am having.
But theres a strange thing, I apperently can go into boot only if I turn up my device only through BP tools, but I cant if I just turn on my phone in the normal mode!
If any of you ever encountered a thing like that, and ever solved the puzzle behind the problem, I'd glad and thankful for whoever shares it in the thread!

UGHH MY PHONE WONT TURN UPPP ANYBODY PLEASE HLEP MEE GAHHHHHH MY PARENTS WILL KILL ME FOR SUREEEEE whAT DO I DOOOOOO I NEED MY WHATSUPPP

I am not quite sure if my action of applying an update on my current system through the recovery earased my cid.
I did try to reinstall the cid, but I couldnt find an cid image for my phone after a hopeless research on the forums.
I'll try to install a temporary recovery, install the update again, and if not, I'll try to restore a backup of my system and see what happens.
I'll come back with results.
I might edit my comment, or reply if this thread would not get any new comments on it.
CID is the unique id of the device.

Thanks friend!! Which JBX kernel should I also choose if my firmware stands right now on jelly beans? the 3.x for android 4.4? which should I install first? the cyanogen or the kernel?
And by the way, I got another question! my phone had this message "CustomerID error,Contact Dealer" text on startup for like an entire year since I installed the BMM, I guess its because I accidently erased my cid, but I dont think I even got the cid anymore.
Is there someway to regenerate a new one? I dont care much about the cid ID, I just want to get rid of the message if it isnt much of a big deal~

After you flash the ROM. Chose the JBX for Kitkat.
However just make sure BMM supports latest KK Roms. It has not been updated for long..
As for the CID, you cannot recover it once deleted. You have to live with the error.

And for the cid, well, alright, I can live with that error, it just would make my startup look less fancy I guess.

[Q] Razr Maxx weird issue with stock ROM--no display. Please advise.

Hi, all . . .
Quick version in bold below.
I've enjoyed my rooted Razr Maxx for many months now, but recently I did some tinkering of the kind that involved the warnings we're all familiar with, i.e., you might mess up your device. And, well, I did--but not in a way that was completely beyond redemption. I don't know what actually happened, but what I know is that after the Safestrap menu disappeared my phone no longer displayed anything, and it would hang during the boot sequence. I'd hear the Drooooid, see nothing, and then the phone would just remain in that non-displaying, unresponsive state until the battery was drained.
I have Safestrap 3.11 installed, thankfully, and I have a backup from several months ago I've been working with. I began hunting around for advice on how to rectify the problem. I tried wiping the cache, then restoring the system and data, then just the system, and each time I got the same problem. Finally, I created a new ROM slot and restored my backup to it--just the system. (System and data didn't work--I don't really know why.) Interestingly, this booted up just fine. Everything was as normal, except that I had to rebuild my profile/data/etc. from scratch.
So I thought, if that worked, then maybe I could wipe the stock ROM and restore just the system to it after the wipe. I tried it, and then had the same issue: no display after Safestrap, and then a hang.
So my question is, is there some way to get that stock ROM straightened out so I can use it as normal? Can I delete and recreate the stock ROM in Safestrap? Is there an obvious explanation for what is happening here?
I really do appreciate any advice you can give, because I'm a dabbler and not a developer, and that's probably a good part of the reason why I'm in this situation to begin with. Thanks!
Quick Version: I'm using Safestrap 3.11 and I messed up my stock ROM in such a way that I have no display after the Safestrap menu, and the phone hangs during boot. I managed to restore just the system to a different ROM slot and was able to start from scratch there, but I want to find out if there is a way to make my stock ROM whole again.
Thanks!
