Samsung Galaxy S3 Boot Loop Stuck - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
One day out of the blue my S3 turns of then turns on again boot looping. It doesn't stop boot looping and the Samsung logo keeps flashing on them off. So i go and try to get into CWM Recovery and it doesn't work it keeps flashing so i try to get into download mode it goes to the option where it says 'Volume Up to continue' 'Volume Down To Restart' But in 5 seconds it restarts anyway and guess what it keeps flashing the Samsung logo again. I pug in my charger and the battery logo keeps flashing and doesn't stay still. WTF.... is going on?

Some people say to me its the power button is stuck because its not meant to turn on on its own but it does as soon as i put the battery in it does so what do you think?

Yes, power button is shorted out. Try giving it a wiggle.

Problem solved: It was the power button you must hit hard (not on the edge of a table) on the power button on a solid table, it has to be hard otherwise it wont work (don't be scared) but be careful hit it too hard on the edge of a table it will damage the screen or something else. If you are getting the same symptoms at I did i would try this as 95% time this is the problem, if you are still to scared that you might smash the screen or something open up the phone and clean the button out or keep wiggling the button although the hit on the table is the best solution/most effective. Hope this helped.

Need help! Emergency! Think my phone might have taken a dump

Need some serious assistance. Was playing with my dogs just a bit ago and decided to record it. So I go to the camera and switch to camcorder and the screen just turns green and the flash comes on and basically it's stuck. Ok so I go to settings and force stop the camera. Try to start it up and it just says unable to start camera. Ok so I guess I'll just restart the phone. Go to restart get to the white htc screen and the flash is still on. hangs there for quite awhile so I start hitting buttons. Screen goes black so I hold the power button again. Capacitative lights just flash. So now the phone won't power on no matter what I do the capacitive lights just flash at me. Any suggestions?
try holding power for like twenty seconds to reboot it.. it's like pulling the battery out. The capacitive light flash apparently means it's signaling to you that it's about to do a full reset.

Will give it a shot. My first phone with non removable battery.
Seems to have worked thanks a ton. Kinda worries me that the camcorder freaked it out like that though.

Sorry to hear this, try this. Plug in the charger, hold the power button. Release power button, hold it down again all with the charger in. I had some sort of soft brick messing with custom roms. It would not power on till i tried with the charger plug connected. I was spooked and thought it bricked.
Let me know how you get on. If that fails, RMA time

jayochs advice fixed it. Kinda freaked me out. May return it anyway as this isn't the first time the camera has caused some goofiness with the phone. Not rooted still 100% stock.

[Q] (Q) Possibly bricked my i717

My phone boots up for 5 seconds to the samsung screen and then it shuts off. I can not get into recovery. I tried going into download mode, but when it enters download mode approx 5 sec and then it shuts off not enough time for odin to run. My battery is fully charge. What should I do?:crying:
Does it vibrate and restart as well?
Could possibly be the power button is stuck. Happens sometimes.
And since it Powers up ... It is not bricked.

it vibrates but does not reboot after the first boot
Stuck power button. . . or flashed an incomplete Rom from a bad download. . .just guessing because you didn't say what you did that led up to this.
How about a little insight on events leading up to the issue.

Last night i flashed Xylon 2.5 unOfficial Rom for quincyatt from ManelScott4Life off his site and then i flashed the recent 4Ace kernel and it was working perfectly for I used it for a couple hour before going to sleep. As I was listening to music on the way to school. It shut off and until now i need to take battery out n put back in order for it to boot for 5 seconds n shuts off again
Odd....But I still would not rule out a stuck button.
If you have a good backup that you can restore, you might could try a wipe and reflash of that backup.
The real test will be if you can boot into your recovery and it stays there. If it does not, then the problem leans toward a button issue again.
And of course, the battery could also be causing trouble. We have had failed batteries act the same as you describe. If you have a spare, try it. If not, plug the device into AC power and attempt the boot into recovery.
Either way, if the phone stays in recovery, you have a battery issue, or corrupted rom...g

Same Problem
I have a question. I have the same exact problem as the OP. However in my case I dont know what happened to the phone as someone just gave it to me since it didnt work and I have a Note they figured I could use it for parts. That aside At first i tried everything and no go. But today i was able to put it into download mode and like 5 seconds into it it shuts off. My main question is how do you know if the button is stuck 1. 2. How do you fix that?
Edit: well i opened my phone up and cleaned out the button and rubber thing and it did the trick! You guys are my heroes!!!
Glad we could help
Great you got it fixed. Enjoy.

How did you clean out your button? I have the EXACT same symptoms, but my rubber buttons in the case, and white power button appears to be clean. I can hear the button itself make contact. I can't get to recovery mode, but I can hit download mode for 5 seconds.
leaving the casing of the phone removed, I have the same exact symptoms so it Has to be the button itself... *shrug
the button gets stuck even when you still hear/feel it clicking. open the phone and blast it with duster. Press and depress the button rapidly many times till it frees internally

[Q] Phone won't boot, won't go into recovery

Hello everyone,
Last night, my phone randomly shut itself off. I have been using the Novena ROM for months now, so I wasn't doing any flashing or anything. Then it wouldn't boot up. I would take out the battery, put it back in, it says "Samsung" for about two seconds then shuts off. If I try and get into recovery, the phone keeps vibrating, with a 2 second interval between each vibration. Same thing happens if I connect to PC or to power outlet. Any ideas on how to fix this strange issue?
Thanks for any input.

Sounds like your power button is stuck. This happen to me before. Try tapping it rapidly a bunch of times, or try flicking the back of the phone by the power button with your finger.

[Q] Bootloop after disassembly

I was having some problems with my headphone jack and i opened my Galaxy Note to check it out. Took only those flat cables around it and used a Contact Cleaner. After that, it's stuck on bootloop.
I had a recovery mode installed and the touch wasn't working at all (TWRP)!
I tried to flash a stock rom, which removed the recovery mode, but kept the same problem.
What could i possibly try?
How far does it actually get before it loops back? Samsung logo? Boot animation? Home screen?
You might have a stuck power button.

I'm going to guess your power button is stuck.

I should try to disassembly again?
Thanks for the answer.
The stuck power button is a very common defect in the original Galaxy note. It either gets literally stuck, or misaligned and is constantly pressed. I fixed mine by flicking the backside of the phone with my finger by the button. Some have fixed it by tapping the button rapidly. Others needed to take it apart and clean the physical button itself.

Couldn't be possible that the touchscreen is causing some sort of short circuit and the cellphone shuts itself as a prevention? I'm thinking that cause when i first managed to enter the Recovery Mode TWRP (before flashing a new rom), the touch wasn't working at all.
I'll try your alternative as well and will report tomorrow.

S3 Neo - loop while booting

Hello.
I get the Samsung Logo loop while I'm trying to turn on my smartphone. Phone was rooted several months ago. When i try to go to Download Mode it shows sign that I should press Volume Up or Volume Down but this screen disappears immediately and phone is trying to turn on again and shows Samsing Logo in loop. Is there anything I can do?
Sounds like the phone may have a stuck power button.
You could try to fix it by carefully removing the rear frame, cleaning around the power button with pure isopropyl alcohol, and then quickly pressing and releasing the power button using a bit more pressure than normal to see if that solves the problem.
By "stock" he means 'stuck'..
Yes, I meant to say "stuck", not "stock". My apologies.
Thanks for replies guys. I will do it in several days because i don't have time now. I will let know, thanks.
I cleaned it with alcohol and it helped. I have already ordered a new button. Thanks for help.
common problem, you can also carefully "bang" the power button to get it going again.
Yes, it works for now but I would like to have reserved button. Thanks for answers.
