[Q] Nook tablet question - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Morning everyone,
I am new to rooting a nook and was hoping someone could help me.
Been searching this forum and tabletroms
I have a regular Nook Tablet. I bought it in 2011 and just rooted it yesterday.
I was hoping that by rooting it, I could use a keyboard case I recently purchased.
I probably should've read further before purchasing the keyboard case, but didn't.
This is the one I have from Amazon: Zuweiyu 7" Tablet Stand with USB Keyboard
I also purchased a Sandisk 16gb microsd card
I followed this tutorial to root my Nook on Youtube: [How To] Root The Nook Tablet (firmware 1.4.3) In 10 Minutes by Project Phoenix Media
All went well.
My keyboard case still doesn't work, though I do have the correct cable hooked up. I plugged it into y laptop and it worked fine.
Upon researching further, discovered that USB is not enabled (or available) on my version of the Nook.
I Googled in hopes of finding any other options and found a page which mentioned something about a kernel. ???
Is there anything else I can do to get the keyboard case to work with my Nook tablet?
Any other tutorials, etc?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

AFAIK, USB Host (which enables attachment & use of USB devices) is currently not supported in stock ROM or any custom ROM for the Nook Tablet.
FWIW, it is supported in the newer Nook HD & HD+ (and I believe the older Nook Color).

[Q] Archos 48 Internet Tablet help

If this is the wrong section I apologize. I just picked up the Archos 48 Internet tablet with the DVR station off of the Archos Store. I thought $299 was a good deal with the free dvr station.
First hand reviews. This is my second archos, i used to have the old school 160gb so i am familiar with its defaults and capabilities.
Battery Life - not a huge concern for me, its normally plugged in. But i got a good 5 hours of out of it with wifi on.
Hard drive - 500gb - perfect for the music/video collector
OS - 1.6 - Weird, just weird. It works, and I understand it, but there are some drawbacks, and maybe you folks can help.
1. I installed appslib and the amazon app store(works perfect). However, you can only install apps to the system space, not the hard drive. So there is a limit to having apps on there. Once i got the 3rd angry birds on it, it yelled at me and said no space available. There is 500gb????? Can if be used?
2. Can you put 2.2/froyo or 2.3/GB?
3. Rooting??? Can it be done? Maybe its too new?
Sync - Special usb cable. Looks like you have to use the micro usb that comes with it. If you use a different one, the files will not sort correctly. Sounds funny, but Putting it in hard drive mode is easier/quicker for me. When I used a standard one, the cover art would not list in the Cover's section when searching for music, however all the music is under the Hard Drive section and I could listen to it all and cover art showed. Not a big deal, just weird.
Browser - Works fine, I would like to install a different one, but I am having problems putting the Android App Market on there. Any ideas?
Firmware is the most updated one.
If anyone can help, or lend ideas, please let me know
Jon
From what I understand, the Archos 48 IT is sort of a rehash of the Archos 5 IT, which was a Gen 7 device. Any info you can find on the Archos 5 IT should apply. Check out ArchosFans and OpenAOS for more. This section is for Gen 8 devices, so I don't think anything you find here will be very helpful. Good luck!
I can help you a bit i had have the A5IT
1) You cant increase the internal storage (for apps) yet, but the guys from openaos maybe work on that at a costum rom
2) there are some 2.0/2.1 and maybe some 2.2 ports too but they are buggy from my last view i have sold my archos 5, bought a new one you should ask the guys from openaos
3) same answer as in 1) & 2)
Xda isnt for gen7, its for gen8 the best gen7 communitys are archoslounge, archos forum and for the hacking sections (most interesting for you ) openaos

Nook Tablet USB HOST for school

Hello,
I got a nook tablet the other day. I have know that the nook color has gotton USB host and so has the nook touch. But I cant find anywhere that has a way for USB host on the nook tablet. What the heck? Why can the nook touches and colors do it and not the nook tablet??? I am wondering if I use a custom rom (Iam running the cm7) if that will allow Usb Host. Is that true? Are there easier ways to do it? I really need a keyboard for my school as they are encouraging more tech. but its near impossible to type papers on a touch screen.

[Q] IDEA: Android TV ROM for Android Tablets

With the announcement of Android 5.0, I was thiinking of new possibilities. I have an old tablet (1st Gen Kindle Fire), and I was wondering if there was any way you could create an Android TV ROM to install on a tablet, wether it's the Kindle Fire or a Nexus 7 or something. You could then connect an external display (if your device supports that) so you would have the full Android TV experience without forking over another $100 just by using old tech. Are there any guides to do something like this?
Yup. I had the same thought. I'd love to do this with old Galaxy Nexus.
I would love it on my nexus 7 2013!
I'm looking for this idea on my old phone and tablet / even dual boot -> that's really good one for home.
P/S: using HDMI cable (slimport or LHM) to connect to TV
It'd probably be possible, if you can run SDR touch on a phone, it'd surely be possible to run a TV Android version with some tweaking and a RTLSDR Dongle(they were originally for TV)

How can I root the new Nook Tablet?

I just got the new Nook Tablet Model: BNTV450. Its the $50 version. A lot on this site seems to mention earlier models. Anything for the new Nook?

Is it possible to put Shield Tablet Image on a 1st gen Shield TV with a touchscreen?

Hi all,
This is a wacky request, but bear with me.
So I have a 2015 Shield TV, which is hooked up to a 55" Touchscreen Monitor. The regular Shield TV Software wasn't really touch friendly and I wanted access to more Android Apps. So I installed a custom image which effectively gave me Regular Android OS from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tv/development/rom-t3138575.
However that was a couple of years ago and I would like to update to a newer version of Android. It is still working really well and part of me doesn't want to risk losing what I have, but the newer versions of Android have much more features (like extending memory to SD Cards) which I would like to have. I know this will be a nightmare to do as I will need to go back to stock and then upgrade to a newer image. But this got me thinking.
Would it be possible to flash the Shield Tablet image onto the Shield TV? I am effectively using my Shield TV Like a giant tablet anyway.
Any thoughts or Guidance from Shield TV or Tablet experts would be much appreciated.
Thanks all, J
