Hi.
I've got 2 Galxy S2 with the same problem.
This is what happens.
Booth phones with 60% of battery or more, if i shut down, remove the battery and wait about 5 seconds, then put it back.
My battery returns to 20% or less.
Tried with new batterys, different rom's (cm11, omni, stock), reseted the chip fuel gauge.
Has anyone ever seen this happen?
Is driving me crazy.
Thanks.
Had the same issue. Posted it here. As my battery was 2.5 yrs old I was suggested to get a new one.
With new battery not facing it anymore.
Anyone else ?
What happens if you don't remove the battery? Does it drain normally?
Also, have you tired different chargers / cables?

I kno wand understand that a million threads on batteries already exist, however I wanted to be as specific as possible and see what you all can recommend.
I'm looking for a batter that's between 2000-2300mah and that will work with the standard charger/USB cable, and not cause my phone to go into SOD or boot loops, and that has NFC capabilities just as the stock standard battery does
Also I'd like this battery to be ~$50 or less
and above all it's be very nice if it fits into the phone without any modifications and or having to replace the back cover with another one.
I'm sure such a battery has to exist, just haven't seen it yet.
Please help me on my quest.
Thanks!
I've been looking for the same thing. Only difference is I couldn't care less about it having an NFC chip or not.
Thank you.
Only one i can think of would be the Korean official extended. But like the thread says the back has to be modded
I will let you know if the battery I bought on ebay works. I asked the seller for specifications. I will let you know.

I freeze Gmail with titanyum backup pro. Do not remember if did anything else but today I have used 17h7m43s on battery and still has 64%. Huge increment of battery life detected!
i will keep this settings backed up with tytanium backup just incase.

Those settings seem a little too aggressive for my taste. I use gmail quite a bit and I also like that the network finds my location rather than the GPS. I'm hardly ever on wi-fi and I have automatic sync going every 3hrs I think.
My phone lasts about 16-20hrs on average. and I'm ok with that, just would like better results as I'm seeing some pull about 2days of life out of their devices.

Hey Guys,
From the past month or so i have been swapping two original 1650mah batteries once in every 2 days on my SGS2.
I charge one of the battery thru external Wall charger device almost everyday.
A frind of mine was telling me it is not a good idea to swap battries as it may brick the phone and also reduce performance for both the battries and even the calibration will not be correct..
how far is it true ? will there be any issue on my phone if i keep swapping batteries regularly ?

That's nonsense. Is your friend an iphone user? Because it sounds like something someone with an integrated battery would say...
I swap between my stock and anker battery quite often, no issues.

Some phones have a "coulomb counter" type fuel gauge (google it for more details) - such gauges require calibration, and can get confused by a battery swap.
The fuel gauge in our phone requires no calibration. Swapping batteries won't brick the phone and won't throw off the gauge.
The one thing I will say is: If you are not using a battery, and do not plan on using it soon, do not store it fully charged. Lithium-ion batteries are best stored at around 50-60% state of charge, they will lose capacity rapidly if stored at full charge.
hey guys,
i dont know if its allready been asked or smth.
but i dont know why (or if its normal), everytime i charge my battery up to 100 %
and pull out the cable from charger, the battery directly goes to 99%.
never hade this on other phones before...
It happens to everyone but doesn't affect battery life, but for some reason it really bothers some people and there is a few custom Roms that fix it.

After upgrading my phone from ICS to JB, I experience a strange phenomena.
The battery life was 75%, and I was calling someone for about 2-3 minutes, then the phone turned off by itself.
The battery was 0%, in just 2-3 minutes!
When I upgraded the OS, I did factory reset. I rooted the phone, froze a lot of bloatwares, but the problem still persisted.
I am beginning to think that my battery is bad or something.
Anybody experienced anything like this?
Any solutions to the problem?
I tried charging the battery from 0% to 100% with power off for several consecutive days, but the problem still persisted.
I need help!
Batteries do eventually die. You can find a good extended battery on ebay for under $10.
Don't quote, reply. If you quote, edit.

After posting the question, I removed the battery to see if physical status of the battery was not the primary cause of the issue.
Well, the battery the"fat". The middle of the battery was bulging for some strange reason. It seemed as if it was left in the direct sun light for a few hours, and I know I did not leave the phone out in the direct sun light, ever!. Well, I ordered a new battery on Friday, and I will have to wait and see if a new battery would solve the problem. I will report back.

I had to replace the battery. My wife had the same issue not long after I had the problem. The battery replacement solved the problem for both of us. Wiping out battery stats did not help. I bought a new battery. I recommend ravpower 2750.
Hi guys,
I wanted to share with you my experience on my device, perhaps some other have the same problem and has solution.
Before I was using 2000mAh battery but it bloat out so I bought a new 1650mAh battery. The problem is that it just turned off when it reaches 40% without even prompting a low batt notification. I thought I bought a defective battery so I purchased a new one again, but it has the same problem. I was using custom roms btw and flashing CM11 nightlies every day or whenever update pops. Does it affects this or should I just recalibrate the device because my old 2000mAh.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Is this a genuine battery. You could try resetting battery stats or use dorimanx kernel to reset fuel guage.
Thanks for the help in advance.
Well the first battery i bought was just a class A, the second battery I just bought a while ago is genuine and its the same result. I will try to flash stock ROM and see if it still occurs, now I just tried calibrating the battery stats.

Did you check the battery voltage level just before 40%? If I understand correclty, my guess is that the battery should range from 4.1 to 3.3volts, as it has been specified as 3.7v.
In my case, it was around 3.6 volts when close to 40%, which seems to be a reasonable voltage for 40%. But then it suddenly drops to 3.2v (which I measured with a multimeter, since the phone goes dead at around 40%). I have started to beleive the battery is the problem.

Battery voltage can be measured using apps like cpu-z and go to the battery section. Software readings are slightly less accurate than multimeter but does the job anyway. 3700mV = 3.7V (conversion of mV to V)
