[Q] How to install newer os on this tablet

Hi everyone
I have the following tablet made by Mach Speed Technologies:
Trio Stealth G2 7" display
1GB RAM
CPU: Dual Cortex-A9 Dual 1.5GHz Multi-Core (its a dual core with a total of 1.5GHz)
its not rooted yet, I don't know how. If it needs to be rooted for this can someone quick explain that?
It came with Android 4.0 and has never updated through the settings, and the factories website does not even mention this tablet. The guy at Radioshack said I could install the update myself so here I am trying to figure out how.
If possible my original plan was to just instal the newest Android release. But today I just found out about ROM's.
So how do I install the newest Android release or if that's not possible a very secure custom ROM?
On one website it just said to put the rom image on a sd card (or in my case a microsd card) and put it in the tablet, then the tablet would use it as an update after asking you with a pop up. Is that true?
I have a bit of experience with Linux and coding but none with Android
with that update through sd card is true but most of times you need to have specific app or recovery as it may be treated as a rom and in that case you need to be rooted and have recovery. if you have experience u good with android as it is based on unix core
Well, I guess the first step is to be rooted then? How do I go about doing that?
I have the "Root with Restore by Bin4ry" downloaded on my computer and the usb driver installed from the google sdk manager.
But my computer does not see my tablet at all.
I have the same tab I have got adb to somewhat pick it up an it has aml flashtool and safe mode this shows u how to get into all those all but for safe mode copy this an past after youtube.com

[Q] Need help with Cube U25GT RK3168

I have been away from Android for a good many years now, over in iOS land.
Recently I picked up a Cube U25GT Dual Core with the Rockchip RK3168 A9 processor.
Out of the box the developer menu is available, but I would like to do a full root on the device so I can use this as a development platform where I can run strace or something if necessary.
The problem is there is so much information out there and much of it is device specific that being pretty much new all over again I have no idea where to start. I read through some topics here but none that I read were to the point and I quickly found myself in a tangle of threads.
The stock firmware is available but I was unable to mount the image to extract anything. I am guessing it's not a standard disk img file.
Could you try this and let me know if it works? Im gettin my tablet in a day or two

I just bought the HP 7 plus 1302 (not Slate) at Best Buy for $99. I can't find any information on it, I thought there would have been custom recoverys, roms, etc. Did I make a bad choice? Can I even root this thing? Is there any cool roms for this?
Same here, Officeworks Australia have them for AU$99, and from having a muck around with the one my next door neighbour bought for his daughter a couple of months ago I'm keen to get one. Problem is, I'm not rushing to it if there's no way of rooting it, or any custom ROM support, etc...

Got the HP 7 Plus 1301 (not slate) in Australia.
Cannot find any rooting info, custom ROM's etc.
I'm guessing there are not that many of them out there so no one actually spent time "XDA-ing" them...
If anyone has any rooting info can you please share...

It was because of these very facts - no way I could find of getting root access, no custom ROMs, not a great deal of support - that led me to buy an ASUS Memo Pad for my daughter just a few weeks ago. Bit more expensive, but worth that extra for better performance, (after a little wait) root access and a fair bit more support from dev's here at our esteemed forum...

Yup, I don't think I would have bought this model if I was in the market for buying a 7" tablet.
This HP 1301 was given to me... I did not pay for it...
However, there is no way I would buy an Asus tablet after they stuffed us up with the Transformer TF101 and the pathetic way they handled the saga. I would probably go for a Galaxy Tab or a Nexus.
Pitty about community support for the HP 7 Plus 1301 (or lack of it), because it could have been an even better tab with a custom ROM.
Rooted but not opérational
Hi everyone,
I've got the HP 7 plus 1301 in france, I could get the root permission whith root genius
BUT, everytime my tablet rebbot it come back to original configuration, I'll search a way to updated the CWM and find a solution to instal a custom rom whitch is one cyanogenmod compatible to a samsung galaxy Tab 8.9.
If anyone else got solution for that troubles, you welcome
Other device:
Samsung galaxy S4 mini, cyanogenmod ceranoltex 4.3.1

I have tried this and rooted too, in january-2015, but at every restart erased all personal data (maybe the new version of KingoRoot resolved this?).

KitKat is no good.... trouble with SD cards permissions... I would like to come back to Jelly Bean. I can't find a way to Bypass the SD Card Restrictions in Android 4.4 .... tried a lot.
"My file manager app can no longer create folders or change folder names or file names/extensions on my SD card after the Kitkat update. Also, my DiskUsage app can no longer create a usage chart for the SD card. It appears that access to the SD card has been severely hobbled for many apps. "
You can search on google more info about kitkat sd card restrictions

As there is no way to going back to JB, I advise you trust me and wait for a fix in a few weeks. I'm working on gaining root access on 4.4 and then, I will provide a fix for this SD card ordeal.
And just to be fair, KitKat has increased performance and battery life of our HP tablet (Tested myself) so it is a really great update. Worth the wait.

plz help !
I have the same hp 7 plus and I rooted it with kingo root. got all permission and stuff . but whenever tablet turns off internal data resets ...
I really wanna fix this by installing the new KitKat update but I can't do it.
-This tablet doesn't read sdcard at recovery mod (which was announced as a bug by a hp employee)
-it also wipes internal storage after every bootload (tried soft reboot and it didn't erase anything)
-adb sideload won't detect the tablet ...
so how can I install the update.zip or AT LEAST fix this reset issue !!!
any help is much appreciated <3
Edit : I FINALLLY FIXED MY HP 7 PLUS !!!
try to download kitkat image from the hp support
then use adb sideload to flash the update.zip (if your devices isn't detected , try installing drivers and disable firewall )
and voila !

The reset issue is there because the bootloader wasn't unlocked. You have to unlock the bootloader and then use KingoRoot and no resets will occur.

I'll try this since I have the stock rom and I'll just have to adb push if it bootloops.
Did it until step 4. It didn't install the binary libraries, so I rebooted it and now I'm stuck at a bricked tab. I can't access the recovery mode to push the firmware. Help please.

[Q] Custom ROM, how to change the ram size value?

I have a tablet with these specs:
Rk3168 dual core arm A9 cpu, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, 7" 1024x600 display, wifi rtl8188etv
I managed to mess it up and I can't get my hands on the stock ROM.It has no volume buttons either so couldn't recover it.
I found a few working custom ROMs for it but none of them match my device perfectly.
Some of them don't have the wifi drivers I need and a couple I found with the correct driver don't have the correct RAM/ROM size.
From my understanding I have to work on the kernel files to either change wifi drivers or ram/rom ones however I can't find a guide on the later. I only found a guide on the wifi.
Can anyone tell me how I can change the ram/rom files?
Or is anyone aware of a fitting custom rom I could use?

Root fake chinese phone

Hi,
My friend bought a cheap fake chinese phone named S21+ Ultra 512Gb +16Gb with a MT6989 chip.
This device is running Android 6.
Is it possible to root this device and install a custom ROM, and if so, how?
Regards
Robert
If phone's bootloader is unlockable, and if you find a Custom Recovery suitable to this phone, and if you find a Custom ROM suitable to this phone, then it's possible.

I have this phone now as a tester. Cannot find a recovery or rom. Have your friend had any luck?
I also have an MT6989 phone and cannot find a recovery or Rom to try. Anyone else had any luck yet?
I too Have One of these And after Doing some backups I discovered that although the phone In setting says CPU 6989 It in fact is a MT6580 I also attaching scatter
Yeah I found that the specs promised were all very wrong. Phone advertised 5G but was only 3G, advertised 1TB storage but was only 16gb storage, avertised 16gb ram but was only 2gb, advertised screen 7.1 and ended up being 6.8, advertised the MT6989 CPU but was actually the MT6580, advertised Android 10 but was actually android 8. They had some spoofing software installed by default that allowed them to change whatever spec they wanted to in the settings to say whatever they wanted. I found it eventually. I chose to send it back to them and get a refund for all those reasons (and have them pay return postage). Basically a criminal seller rip off merchant. Not worth the time and effort to use when the specs we so low anyways.
well I have successfully rooted it with magisk. you can use emmcboot with magisk and boot to recovery sideload the magic_patched then afterwards select the graphics test in recovery window and should see system updating and after that magisk should be there with full root access! enjoy hope this help out!
