Hello, im trying to fix my friends galaxy player 4.0, its the YP-G1CWY/XAA US 8 gig. The problem is when you turn it on the samsung logo comes up and plays the little animation over and over again. I did some looking and found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472897 and did everything it said. However i had to get the .tar.MD5 file from a different post cause the link in the tutorial was down. So after trying it there was no change so i tried the Odin method from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850 witch is also where i got the .tar.MD5 file from. After trying this one there is still no change. Not sure if this helps but after Odin is done and it goes to Android system recovery i get the following,
-- Copying media files... E:failed to mount /sdcard (file exists) E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount /sdcard your storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu for format and reboot actions Media files copy failed. -- Wiping data... Formatting /data... E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 Formatting /dbdata... Formatting /cache... Deleting Meta Data Data wipe failed. -- Applying Multi-CSC... Successfully applied multi-CSC.
and when i do wipe data/factory reset i get this.
-- Wiping data... Formatting /data... E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 Formatting /dbdata... Deleting Meta Data Formatting /cache... Data wipe complete.
Then i wipe cache partition and i get this.
-- Wiping cache... Formatting /cache... Cache wipe complete
I've only tried Odin method so far. Anyone have some insight on how to fix it??

- I follow the instruction in this thread "Repartition media and data partitions on Nook Tablet"
-Then, i boot in CWM recovery, install rom from zip file, this rom
-When it done, i choose Wipe data/factory resest, it show:
Wiping data...
formatting /data...
formatting /cache...
formatting /sd-ext...
E: format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2
formatting /sdcard/ .android_secure...
data wipe complete
-then I reboot system, NT always boot in CWM (with or without SD card)
-cause everything seem normal, but this line: E: format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2, do I have any chance to fix it?
Thanks all!
It is normal don't worry we all have and it doesn't harm your device

I am having the same issue and cannot get my nook to get beyond the CWM screen. The question: Has a solution to this been identified?
Thanks.
When you boot into recovery try wiping data to factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache. Then install the ROM from the SD card afterwards.
Sent from my NookTablet with CM10.1
I have Clockworkmod 5.5.0.4 installed using Indirect's installer. When I choose the option for "wipe data/factory reset" the /data and /cache partitions are formatted fine, but I get the following error on the /sd-ext:
E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2
The very next item the system tries to format is /sdcard/.android_secure, with the following error:
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Skipping format...
I'm guessing the .android_secure error is related to the /sd-ext error, but not sure how to fix either?
Edit: Sorry, I didn't find anything about this using Google, but XDA's search and juggling the search terms led me to this post indicating it is normal. No need to reply unless it is in fact not normal. Thanks.
can anyone help me?
