Vibrate and hepatic feedback issues - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, randomly my vibrate just stops working randomly for the phone and then suddenly works again. I just updated my firmware and it just started happening recently. I'm assuming it's the software but any ideas what I can do?

I seem to have the same issue
I think its a hardware fault or at least with my case it is. its happened across 3 different firmwares and i have found that shaking or hitting my phone actually fixes it, this proves to me few possible
For you id recommend flashing a new firmware one more time and seeing if it shows up again, if it does then it is defiantly a hardware issue
Ill be sending my Z2 back
Details for others (about my device):
Camera lense is off centre
Gap at the top right
Gap at the bottom left
Audio jack doesent look right + very small gap
Random vibration loss

Mine did it and shaking it helped as well but idk if that's a placebo because it hasn't done it since I flashed a new kernel and rom on the phone... So there's that lol. I also have a tiny gap on the bottom left but it's barely noticeable in fact I didn't notice it until you pointed it out. I love the phone and not gonna use my square trade warranty for it just yet

if the vibration issue shows up again then you know its a hardware issue, its better to have something working but not something faulty, faulyt things just kill them selfs more
And im with you, I love the phone more than my old phone, i realy dont want to send it back, i just want to play games @60fps but unfortionately it is a problem that is affecting the user (thats me )
ive had alot of other issues
here are some more i forgot to list
No heating with camera but majour heating just doing random tasks:
Camera apears to take photos in a very red hue
There is a Gap on the top left of the screen too
some others, too tired to think

Same problem here with the haptic feedback. It happens cuts out now and again while typing but seems to start working again on its own after a few more presses.
Not overly bothered as am very happy with the phone otherwise so won't return it to the manufacturers until it packs in completely within my warranty period.
I have got slight gaps on the screen on the bottom left and top right and maybe a slight off centre rear camera but if I hadn't known to look for these I wouldn't and don't really see them as a problem.

Agreed, I don't think it's a hardware problem to be honest so we will see what happens when it gets updated a little more as I've seen some people with this problem.

Yeah if I shake it it goes away but It could be voltage output that's making it worse or something, I heard the motor is actually easy to access and replace so if it comes to that I could to that possibly. I haven't factory reset it at all and I upgraded my firmware and it's worse then the one I had on stock... Odd to see so many people with this issue though.

No it seems like a lot of people to having this issue as far as I know. I'm gonna just deal with it for a while if I have to... Coming from the m8 which had even more quality control issues and going through like 5 of those.. Kind of tiring lol and I guess you can't strive for perfection although this should be fixed... Maybe someone can call Sony and chime in and let us know exactly what's going on and if they're aware of this issue.

Id bet money that you will have problems with your samsung at some point. No flagship is free of issues.

C`mon man...we`re not interested in selling or throwing your phone to garbage!
we all know about the xperia s problems.we do not need you to remind us of them.
unless u have to say something usefull( e.g how to get rid of those annoyng bugs from ics or how to repair the yellow tint...or how to improve the battery life) please leave us and buy a ugly Samsung...or HTC or whatever you like! you will find that all the phones have their problems
at least....xperia s with all his problems is a f#^#n` sexy phone...the rest are just...phones
fake HD Pentile display vs Sony's bravia engine HD display.
No thanks.
If not because of the yellow tint issue that was killing me, i would keep it until the 2013 line realeased.
Xperia S is hell a of a sexy phone.
100% agree but cause I need a phone that works and could not face another 5weeks with out it been repaired had no choice. Now I am no fan of Sammy far from it but when I will have an average of 40 calls a day on my mobile (busy upto 65) needed something that would work.
I still much prefer the xperia S but how it looks is not that important or how it feels if that was the case might have chosen the lumia.
Now I have no preconceptions that Sammy make a better phone this actually feels so plasticly you would not believe but when it comes to making and receiving a call its working. I do not have to worry now (at the moment) about people complaining they can't here me with all the beeps cause proximity is bust, and nore do I have to strain cause yellow tint was getting worse and worse, or the endless FC just using the contacts looking up a number (after re flashing bringing back to stock etc.)
Yes my robot who built my xperia was on the oil too much but when they could not issue a replacement why should I stay.

I never had any problems on the S with force closes and such (system apps anyways). I would much rather have a yellow screen (that can be repaired) than a blue screened plastic fantastic device to be honest. You can't fix the cheap body and a blue screen.
Everyone has their opinions and such so it doesn't matter. I find this thread in general a bit unnecessary but whatev

Home and back capacitive button sensitivity is bad ..anyone else notice this ?

As nice as of a device as it is the home and back button lack the touch sensitivity needed to function correctly, with the correct amount if sensitivity i'm sure most of us are used to.
I seen there was a update with the sprint variant that fixed it.
It's like when u touch them it takes 10 times to get them to respond almost acting like a phone that's 5 years old and glitchy...
Is this a known issue or an issue being looked into ?

[Help] S4 Screen Flickers When the Phone is cold?

Hey friendly members of XDA,
My phone started to flicker recently and I could not figure out why it does this...
http://youtu.be/uhSOd6tlVgw
I did not have any water damage or physical damage to my phone but it started doing this randomly. When my phone gets colder, the screen starts to flicker, then half of the screen flickers with a yellow hue, then after a while the screen will be yellow. Also, while the phone is cold, the screen will not turn on. (I failed to show this in the video). Is there something I can do to fix this?
When I warm my phone up with my hands, the flickering goes away and everything goes back to normal.
Thank you,
Jerry

More info...rooted? Using ROM w/mdk boot loader?using ROM w/safestrap?if stock which firmware are you using?all these things will give people more info to help you with the problem...and all these variables can all have their own quirks and problems...give a little more info and I'm sure someone here will be able to help
Sounds like a graphical blobs problem but I don't how internal temperature could affect that.

Since your phone is still under warranty, you'd better send it to Samsung after-sales department for checking. Maybe it is free!

It's up to you but I probably would. If something physical is affecting your phone then there's some type of hardware issue with your phone. Unfortunately xda can only help with software.

Well you could try flashing the latest Adreno drivers for our phone in recovery, if you still have SafeStrap that is.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ygyqpqmz6m30yuj/UPDATE-adreno-drivers-jflte9505.zip
Filename says i9505 but it's good for our Verizon S4s too.
Probably is a hardware issue if you've already tried Odin and different ROMs but hey worth a try if your going to send it back anyways.

similar screen flickering problem in cold ish environment, diagnosis.
I have a similar flickering problem. Is related to "cold temper.". There is a translucent rectangle that pops-up and overlays 80% of the screen (lower side) - it flickers. The rectangle is light grey and the screen icons etc are underneath it. However, the grey gets more and more dense and eventually, the rectangle becomes solid grey with less flicker, then, you can no longer see the screen contents beneath it. Also, the overlaid rectangle grows to about 95% of the screen. Only part of the notification line on top is visible. Amazingly, the screen and touching the various icons and buttons still works 100% perfectly ... only problem is you cannot see what you are touching ; . . . so you have to guess where the various icons and buttons are, . . . and touch them accordingly (blindly so to speak). I suspect there is a background "phantom" task that is running, pertinent to various sensors ( ex. proximity) that is misbehaving. This phantom task likely is launched after a wake-up or re-boot event. Eventually, the phantom task slows-down its strange work, the flickering and the greyness of the translucent rectangle is reduced, and after few seconds it goes away and the phone works fine again. So my diagnosis is: some kind of fault between a background running task and the GPU O/S driver. The problem is critical in that if you are out in a snow-storm scenario and want to use your phone, simply, you won't be able to, the flickering obstruction can last 5-10 minutes.
Has anybody solved the problem with 100% satisfactory result ?

VIBRATE issue

Hi!
Sometimes vibrate in my Xperia Z2 doesn't work... :crying: What is going on?
Ive have the issue too and it seems to be a hardware issue
The issue persists across firmwares
Im replacing my device in hopes i dont face the same issue, i recomend you do the same if posible

I was having this issue as well but it seems to have stopped randomly after a little. What I did was touch a magnet to the bottom on back and hopefully set it back in place. Hasn't stopped in over 24 hours. Another thing I'd recommend is if you're bootloader unlocked and you're turning you're voltage down to stop cause that could be the cause of it since the motor isn't getting enough voltage

[Q] gap in display waterproof

just got my z2 and when sat in dark room with brightness turned up the bottom left of the screen shines a bit of light between the plastic trim and the glass display
now i am not bothered by this but will it leak water in when submerged? or am i been paranoid
also noticed the flash is off center a bit apart from that everything seems ok
thanks:laugh:
I think gaps do compromise waterproof, and the off set camera or flash led is a early batch fault
Take note that i recomend you getting a replacement

In my question thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793532) I got the answer that it doesn't really affect waterproofing because the seal is made over a larger area than the gaps.
The gaps I have are at the top right, bottom left, and the middle of the entire left side (very minimal but noticeable to my very focusing eyes - I regret looking that close to my device)
Thanks for the replys the gap doesn't bother me just worried water would get in and the slight misalignmen of the camera flash doesn't seem to affect anything so I should be good shouldt I?
Thanks

well it was annoying me so i thought what the hell i filled a bowl up and put the phone in the bowl (which even a waterproof phone i dont understand the point in doing lol) anyway after a minuet or so the phone seems all ok there was no bubbles coming from the phone to show water getting in and all seems ok so the gaps in my phone at least seems water tight (hopefully):victory:
