ok so i flashed viper 3.5.0 with sense 5.5 kitkat, its awesome but im having an issue with my data ive never had before. i lose data connection after about 5mins on powering on the phone. ill reboot and same thing, sometimes data wont even work. mobile data says on but disconnected. ive put in airplane mode and for a few and shut off and sometimes i get data back but only for a few mins and its very slow. i flashed to the latest radio and twrp 6 recovery. i tried flashing hboot but it just wont. still this data issue is extremely ****ty. ive reflashed the rom 3times doing normal wipe and flash and completely wiping data and sideloading it. still data refuses to work. wifi works fine but soon as i leave wifi to go to work my data does not automatically connect i have to reboot. sorry for the essay. any help appreciated. im going to try vipers new sense 6 but im worried i may have the same issue since they both run off kitkat
So I upgraded to viper 4.1.0 sense 6 and I still have an issue with the data. What should I do? I don't have 4g anymore bearly can get my data to even work. And when it does its at best 3g. Could not flashing newest hboot be causing this? If so how can I get hboot to flash? I'm using DNA toolkit by still this guy and it just fails every time. Any help appreciated.

I came from Das BAMF Remix 1.6.3; performed factory wipe/data reset, wipe dalvik and wiped cache. I flashed the GB Radio via Hboot (update=yes; then updates by doing 2 things, then hit power to restart). I then flashed the ROM.
The first two (2) times I flashed 2.0-4.0 and could NOT get Wi-Fi to work, but I had 3G working no probs as well as GPS. Went out for a couple hours and had no issues. Got Back, and I still could not get Wi-Fi to connect. I reflashed radio..no dice...re-downloaded the ROM, did a complete wipe and reflashed both the ROM and radio. Still would not connect, even after I downloaded Test7 kernel (kernel shouldn't mess with my mobile connection?).
I then went and downloaded 2.0-4.01, and now I can connect to Wi-Fi. Now the problem is that I am stuck on 1x Mobile Data and cannot get 3G. I've re-wiped, reflashed and downloaded Imeseyons new kernel..still stuck on 1x. I have even tried toggling Airplane mode, but cannot get it to 3G connection.
Any ideas?
Dunno if it will make any difference but flash the rom 1st then either battery pull or adb into hboot to flash the radio. Maybe others can confirm if this might help or not.
Not sure if this is the root of your problem, but the directions given by the developers of these gingerbread roms indicate that you should put the rom and radios on the root of sd card, flash the rom first in recovery, don't reboot, get into hboot via adb, then let the radios flash, and reboot. It sounds like you flashed the radios first, and then the rom. Maybe this is causing your problems?

Don't think so, cause I have tried both ways. Also, in Ad's posts he recommended both ways.
Either way, if I botched it the first time, it doesn't make sense that with the same radio I was getting 3g but no Wi-Fi, but now I'm getting Wi-Fi and no 3g.
I reflashed back to Remix 1.6.3 and have 3g+Wi-Fi right away.
And 3g returns..On 1.6.3.

When I wiped and reverted back to 1.6.3 I lost a Superuser file. I decided to re-root and start from scratch.
Re-rooted, then flashed 2.0-4.1 and let it startup. Then shutdown and went into Hboot and flashed GB ROM. Went through a normal startup and I had 1x which after a couple of minutes turned into 3G, but very laggy. I then flashed Imo's 2.5.4 kernel and re-started. 3G came up and speeds were just fine.
A lot of work to get BAMF to work, but I'm happy. Now working on adding Launcher Pro, Fancy Widget and a few other personalizations.
Brace for EPIC Tale!
So I upgraded, like everyone else, to the MR2, and BAMF GingerRemix 2.1.
Flashed the new Radio (MR2)
Full wipe cache clears all that jazz.
Installed 2.1 worked great, however about a week into it I started getting data drops, and unable to connect to Wifi.
So I tried MR2.5 leak, this seemed ot help for a while but eventually no wifi again.
I didnt think much of this at the time, I wanted to upgrade to a sense 3.0 rom anyway. BAMF was in RC2 and had reported a bunch of bugs so I decided to try GingerTheory 4.2 with the MR2.
Flashed radio, full wipe, cache clear delv everything then flashed ROM.
From the beginning wifi would not connect and data was spotty.
Upgraded to GT4.3 same issues.
Yeserday morning I tried BAMF 3.0 RC3
Full wipe and the whole nine yards. And was already on MR2.0
Again would not connect to wifi, sat on obtaining IP then dropped to disconnecting, tried the wifi security button connect at home and still nothing.
In IRC I was told it was the kernal, so I got Dream 2.3 flashed it and rebooted.
After boot animations I got "process system is not responding" with [force close] and [wait] buttons but touch would not work.
So Drew66 ran me through the steps again checking everything from MD5s on all items to ADB device checks and everything checked out.
We re flashed the kernal and cleared delv.
Into HBOOT and reflashed the MR2
Rebooted and waited a few mins.
All worked fine.
However, again no WiFi. Then playing with settings I lost Data all together.
This morning I rebooted in hopes of getting Data back
Instead I was greeted with, "process system is not responding" again.
I'm thinking of just a full restore but if anyone has any ideas they are most welcome.
Thank you.
I've tried it all folks. New kernels, factory reset, different radios, different ROMs. Every-thing. The WiFi will turn on for a quick second and I will get an error message "Unable to scan for networks" and then the Wifi will just turn on and off on and off over and over again. I've even deleted the files in the data/dhcp and data/wifi folders. Rebooted, still same issue. I've deleted the files and flashed a kernel and rebooted, still same issue.
Of course I am still in contract and will have to purchase a new phone outright from Verizon if I can't get this issue resolved......
I don't know what else to do here.....
Did you try formatting data and system before installing a new rom from recovery? If that doesn't work i would say its a hardware issue. You're not restoring system data with any backup programs are you?

I've wiped pretty much everything known to man on the phone. The ROM installs are all "fresh" I haven't tried to install any APPS on the phone. Just wipe everything, factory reset / Dalvik Cache, all of it... install fresh ROM. Try to turn on Wifi, phone boot loops. No matter what ROM I install, still same issue with Wifi / boot looping.
Well guess we can close this out. I went out and paid full boat for a Samsung Nexus since I couldn't fix this issue.
I'd like to reopen this topic. I had been running Bamf Forever 1.10, but last night I decided to try another ROM because it's been running really slow for some reason.
Did a wipe (factory reset, Dalvik cache) and installed Thunderstick. Now WiFi is broken -- the exact same problem as described in the original post. I tried flashing a new kernel and new radios, and cannot get WiFi to work.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Will flashing back to stock ROM/unrooting help?
Thanks!
@ajoesq I had the same problem when i installed thunderstick thru boot manager. My wifi stopped and I could get it going on my phone rom. So i booted back into thunderstick and wifi was working. Booted back to hte phone rom then into recovery and then i flashed my phone rom again without wiping or anything (Thunbershed V1.2) and it worked fine. wifi started agian.

Run a logcat when you try to turn wifi on. Put the output on pastebin.com and post the link. This might tell us what the problem is.
I'd make sure that the radio(s) were at least at the minimum of what the ROM called for.

Hi. i own an HTC EVO V 4G (Virgin Mobile). i used the Search function but sadly didnt found exactly what i needed.
a month or so after activating the phone, i decided to Root, S-off, Flash Recovery, bootloader and a custom Rom. However, its been a while now, that when i do a fresh install i get some inconsistency problems. for example, my first Rom was Harmonia, but later on i switched to MidnightRom. there the problems started to show up. the Sense version was working fine, but then i wanted to try out the Jellybean version. and when i did (after wiping everything, of course) some apps were not working. PlayStore wouldnt let me download anything, Tethering was not working, when using "reboot" the phone would get in a bootloop, which would only go away by removing the battery. and 3D games (Shadowgun, Temple Run, etc.) were graphically laggy. more like, unplayable. the image was distorted to the point it was impossible to see what was going on. messed around with fixing permissions, deleting Cache and Dalvik, re-flashing, and the problem was still there. i tried with other Jellybean Roms (both 4.1 and 4.2) and noticed that the problems were still there. anyways, after deciding to live with the problems (running Wild For the Night). months later i decide to flash MidnightRom again and i see that all the problems are magically gone. to this day ive been running only 4.1+ Roms and i dont have many issues whatsoever. BUT. i tried a Senseless Stock-based Rom the other day (started to miss 3D camera) and it ran well, but the overall behavior of the phone was laggy. it would take longer than usual to do anything. took me about 5 re-flashes to get rid of all the problems. then just yesterday i tried a few other Roms. some worked, though DU was really laggy, and the icons would switch places by themselves at times. as i saw the problem was not going away with re-flashing, fixing permissions and whatnot, i decide to restore to my most stable Flashed Rom.
just to clarify, here is what i do every time im about to flash a new ROM:
Wipe everything except SD card
Wipe Cache and Dalvik
Flash.
Reboot
after i flashed, if something went wrong, or if im flashing something ontop:
Wipe Cache and Dalvik
Fix permissions
Reboot
so question is, is this normal? does this has to do with the phone switching from ICS to JB? or am i doing something wrong?
also, just curious... is there a way one could, say, by some weird reason be "half S-off"? because although my bootloader says S-Off, and i have been able to flash many things, i remember that when doing the Wire thing i experienced many errors, and the thing said it was successful by itself a few seconds later while i wasnt doing anything.
and also, which is the best and most stable Hboot version i could use?
My HBoot version is 1.04.2000 (PG8610000)
Radio is 1.09.00.0706
My Recovery is 4EXT latest version
Thanks in advance
After trying several ROMs that would not connect to VZWs LTE network (Cyanogenmod, LiquidSmooth), I decided to go for a stock-ish ROM: NuSenseSIX-MAX which is an HTC One port. It installed without a hitch and says its on LTE but then after about 10 minutes, switches to 3G and won't go back to LTE unless I reboot the phone, and after 10 minutes, back to 3G. I installed the latest firmware and baseband (1.02.01.0207) so that isnt the issue. Anyone experience this? Have any ideas?

Any luck finding a fix? I am having the same issue.
You guys need to flash a stock recovery and perform a factory reset with the stock recovery installed.
Many aosp roms corrupt the NV radio partitions and nothing will fix that except stock recovery.
So back up anything important on the device, grab the stock recovery, load it up.
Then either from hboot, or rom settings menu, or from stock recovery (exclamation point/phone image/volume up+power to get menu) factory reset.
That will fix the NV radio partition that corrupt.
Then you can reflash a custom recovery and set back up your rom.
This is the only true fix for this issue.
Yes RUU will fix it too because it does the factory reset with stock recovery as well, but that's not necessary, just having the latest firmware, stock recovery and doing the reset is all it takes. :good:
Same rule applies on the m7 and m8 as well...

Tried this - no love.
Steps done: Flashed stock recovery, chose factory reset from modified hboot, flashed custom recovery and PA 4.6 ROM.

Number one cause of the problem: Aosp roms
First thing you went and installed after fixing the issue: Aosp rom
I've been having network issues as well for a couple of months now. I think it's actually a Verizon issue as I just got a certified replacement device that's having the same problems as my old device. The issue seem to have coincided with the latest update/as well as Verizon's switch to xlte for certain phones. My signal strength/bars is a lot weaker than before. I also have a lot of drops to 3g and 1x in a 4g area that seems to have trouble switching back to 4g. When I called to report the issues/get a replacement device they said that they are aware that many DNA users have been having issues since the latest update. Hopefully we get another update to fix these issues. Also I've never loaded anything aosp on this device. Just stock and viper.

I had this issue for a very long time. Couldn't stay connected to 4G to save my life. But as Santod said, you need the stock recovery and stock hboot, then do a factory reset from hboot. I have been connected to 4G for the last 3 days since I fixed this prob. Now waiting for my new sim tray. I actually RUU'd to stock 3.06 and still had little to no 4G. Factory reset and instantly connected to 4G. Gave it a whole 24hrs, no issues or disconnects, then weaksauce and firewater. Now back on Viper and I haven't seen 3G or 1X for 3 days and counting. Hope it helps.

Ok, so I flashed stock recovery and stock hboot and did a factory reset from hboot - however my previous rom still loads... shouldnt the factory reset delete the rom? I'm not sure how to verify the factory reset worked.

Factory reset only erases /data (without wiping /data/media) /cache and resets NV partition.
