so that i can play media on my pc and roam around in the network range with media output coming from android headset in my ears...
there are apps like audioin and airphones for iphone but i couldnt find any for android...

Gmote has a remote music feature. Allows remote play of music files, won't be a remote speaker though. Available in the Market for free.
I'm also looking for something like this, I would like to use my android phone as a wireless receiver at home so that I can plug my phone's audio out into my amp then stream whatever audio is coming from my laptop out of the main speakers.
The droid 2 comes with an app, that does somethins similiar to this, called DLNA. It is not a speaker for the computers audio player, but it will play the music you have stored on your computer through the phone.

Thanks for the links but I am really looking for something more 'passive' that turns my phone into something like an Apple "Airport Express" while I am at home and it is on charge.
I mainly want to do this to use some streaming audio services that I can get on my laptop but not on the phone. Such as Spotify free and any flash based audio players as my device is Android 2.1 only :-(
There is an app for iPhone called AirPhones which does this. Any ideas for Android?

I understand what you guys are saying but I do not know of any app that does this yet. Currently, apps like homepipe, a gmote, use an app on your computer to create a server connection that your phone can connect to and then browse files. DLNA is the same thing but licensed. For what you guys want, you would need an app that creates a server connection but now to a file directory but instead to the audio card/audio out. I'm unfamiliar with how hacked airport express' work (the ones that allow you to stream any audio not just iTunes) but I was under the assumption that it worked at the programs I mentioned above, except the server app was itunes itself. essentially, iTunes could play music on your computer but it would then share the data over the wifi connection to another device (the airport express) which had access credentials. If I'm wrong someone please correct me...

AirBubble, allows your phone to act as a AirPort Express. So you can stream music from iTunes, iphones, ipads, etc to your phone and then play it out via the headphone jack. As far as I know there are no apps which allow you to stream audio from PC.
I'm very much interested in this kind of app.
Specifically I want it so that I can watch Hulu/Netflix on my large TV in bedroom, but have the sound come through my headphones so I don't wake the beautiful lady next to me

Our best hope is a port of Pulse Audio... I may look into this, but I'm admittedly over my head on that one... I'll see what I can do.

Soundwire
There's an app in google store called 'soundwire', that's a solution. It streams any sound from a notebook over wifi to an android device. Anyway I'm looking for the same kind of app which uses bluetooth for that. Would b nice not to have to use a router to stream sound from computer's sound card to my android phone.
I can't believe this isn't standard. This is the kind of tech that makes people smile and isn't impossible with the DLNA standard. Anyway, just crazy that this isn't out there and all over the place.
I'm in the same boat and want to clarify things a bit.
There are two vastly different things here. One is a bluetooth wireless music adapter (bridge) and the other is a DLNA capable server/client that plays from the server to the client but is server controlled.
Bluetooth is fine, but short ranged and crappy sound quality. We all already have wireless in our houses and Apple does this perfectly fine with the AirPlay, so why are we interested in bluetooth?
Most DLNA servers run and have media on them, then you connect a client which has the speakers and play from that client, streaming the audio to the client. we want a way to stream from a device (server) to a client, but that is server controlled, almost like pushing music to another device.
looks like AirBubble might be on the way there as are some others that set up an AirPlay speaker connection. Now we just need to find an app that will search for these AirPlay speakers and use them for out audio instead of the build-in speakers or headphone.

okay got this working, mostly.
The apps I'm using are:
AirPlay/DLNA Receiver which is the receiver to connect to the speakers and
Twonky Mobile which streams your media to the receiver.
Basically set up your Android device and plug in the cable to your stereo or headphones. Start the AirPlay/DLNA receiver. Then use the Twonky app to stream whatever is in your other Android device to the receiver. After setting it up Twonky should find your other device and let you stream to it.
Pulse Audio is not a piece of dlna software. Pulse Audio is an audio subsystem of Linux, an alternate to the subsystem in Android. Pulse Audio has the native capability to broadcast lag-free audio for free across a number of connections.
Dlna is more just a file sharing protocol. It certainly can be used to play music files across a network, but it isn't nearly as capable as pa (pa sends pure audio over a connection and costs nothing to either system).
There are some dlna clients that integrate pa for a well-rounded media solution, but they are fat from one in the same.

I have an LG Ally which is running Android 2.22 if I recall correctly. I currently have a setup so that I plug my phone into my stereo through AUX so I can use my phone to play music, and as a GPS when needed. I use the Music system that's built into android phone, but when i'm driving it's very hard to change the songs and still drive. I know they make bluetooth headphone that allow you to pause, skip, etc so there must be a bluetooth remote control that I can pair to my phone so I don't have to take my eyes off the road in order to change a song.
To make this clear, I am NOT looking for an app, nor am I trying to turn my phone into a remote control. I can't stress this enough, because a lot of posts I read while looking into this a lot of people where getting confused and thinking the person wanted to use their phone as a remote and this is not the case.
I would greatly appreciate some help finding something that would work, since i've not seemed to be able to find anything.

There is a remote called Satechi BT Media remote that is compatible with iPhones.
If it works like like a Apple Bluetooth Keyboard, media functions should work with Galaxy Note, but I don't know about LG. Every company use different Bluetooth stack.

So i know this thread is a little old and i realize this doesnt directly help the OP, but could an IR remote, plugged into a USB host like a moto dock or one of those cables that enables the host command through the mini usb port possibly work? I suppose youd still need some sort of software to control the function...
I was thinking about this the other day when i had my phone attached hdmi to the tv, watching netflix. Once the episode was over, id have to get up and pick something else. A remote or a bt mouse might be a decent solution, but a mouse isnt very sexy as youd have to move around and click, as opposed to just using a directional pad or an arrow key.

I wasn't aware of the bluetooth HID protocol until now and hence I was thinking about a different solution:
I thought about using a bluetooth headset for media control as these often include all the media control buttons.
However I only wanted to use the media buttons of the bluetooth headset while I was playing music through the headphone jack in my car.
Therefore I was seeking for a solution to connect the bluetooth headset in a way that its buttons can be used for media control but no music would be streamed to the headset or could be muted.
I think it's possible but some android hacking might be involved.
But that's a thing of the past with this new Satechi Bluetooth Remote, the amazon sales description states that Android devices are supported as long as they support Bluetooth HID. The customer review section also includes a guy who succesfully paired the Satechi with his Galaxy III.
The Satechi was introduced a couple of months ago so maybe other manufacturers will introduce similar and cheaper devices.
If your Android OS supports Bluetooth HID you can also use some Bluetooth HID devices which are advertised to work with iOS only (ie Apple Bluetooth Keyboard).

So this is a pretty old thread but Motorola has a product called the RZ100 which should fit the bill nicely. I use it for my GS3 (I travel quite a bit, so gs3 + HDMI out adapter + this remote = bliss) and it works without issues. The only thing I would like is an app that allows remapping the buttons on it (Ahem Android developpers...)

I'm using my Sensation with a Harman Kardon Go+Play and therefore had the same problem as OP.
I read your post and realized that I already own a Logilink BT0019 for other purposes.
I paired it and voilá, the music plays via the Harman Kardon, but the BT0019 media buttons still work.
Only Play/Pause and Next/Previous Song though because the sound level Buttons only change the Headsets volume which means that I do now need two remotes (the BT0019 +the provided Harman Kardon Remote for volume control.) but okay, cool.
I got the BT0019 for 22€, so it's a decently low priced solution too, even if I would not need the Headset for other purposes.
I know it's not bluetooth but the Mele F10 air mouse can do the trick via USB OTG.
I'm looking for a similar solution to control the media playing on an Android tablet for my daughter while on road trips. We have a Nexus 10 currently and will probably be getting a Nexus 7/Kindle Fire HD/Nook HD+ soley for her uses. Are there any android apps that might also achieve this using bluetooth? If I could control the media on the tablet using my Galaxy Nexus phone, that would be even better.
I succesfully managed to get what the OP asked for with an old TomTom bluetooth remote like this one (www ebay com/itm/331084156246) thanks to the informations provided by Norvan Gorgi at norvangorgi blogspot it/2011/10/using-tomtom-bluetooth-remote-with.html (insert dots as required ), and it worked brilliantly with both my SGS3 and my first gen Galaxy Note.
Basically, the remote is recognized as an external keyboard, so all you need is to remap its keys (the tomtom remote has 10 buttons) according to your needs, as per the instruction provided by Norvan in his blog.
Thing is, this stopped working when I installed CyanogenMod 10.2 on both my mobiles, appearently because android 4.3 now does not recognizes the remote as a keyboard anymore, but rather as an 'input device', ie with a nice 'joystick' icon next to it (and my own keyboard definition files won't work anymore).
Anyway, once paired with a 4.3 device the four directional keys and the central 'ok' one will sitll work, so it might still prove useful for someone, even if it does not have proper 'direct' media functions as it would have when set up as a keyboard.
Satechi Remote Control
I recently purchased the Satechi remote control because even though it says its specifically made for iOS, people in the reviews said it works on android and also because it works on 3rd party applications like spotify.
I have two Samsung devices, my phone which is Samsung Galaxy Note II and a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 which is just used to download my spotify playlist for the car. since the Galaxy Player 4.2 only has 512mb of ram its really annoying when i want to change song, very slow and I realised I pay a lot of attention to the device while driving and that isnt good!
so I bought the remote thinking it would help. now the problem is it doesnt connect to android devices because it requires bluetooth HID, according to a few posts found on this website and a few others, I downloaded bluetooth keyboard easy connect and on my phone it worked fine. however on my galaxy player it didnt work. it just keeps TRYING to connect, the device is running 2.3.6.
my question is, is there any other application i can use or anything I can do to use this remote on my mp3 player?
I realize this thread is very old but I found this thread searching for the exact same thing. I have not ordered this yet, but the Amazon reviews seem to suggest this item is exactly what I have been looking for!

I'm kind of looking into buying a docking station for my g nexus and I came up with some questions.
The general purpose for me would be to play music with a high quality. So, how does this work for the androids? Is it possible to connect the device via usb and play the music over it? Most of the docks I saw seemed to use Bluetooth to play the music and had the usb port only for charging the phone, if they even had any.
Is it possible to control the phone (e.g. skip a track, choose another track...) via bluetooth or does it only play the music and you have to control everything on the phone itself?
Final questions: Any suggestions on good hardware?

Bluetooth audio is becoming a more prevalent option with television now. More TVs have Bluetooth capabilities and more soundbar and other audio have Bluetooth reception to allow them to play audio from cellphones and other devices.
I would like to have audio from my Google TV broadcast by Bluetooth for wireless listening. My TV does not have BT, but I have found a TOSLINK to BT device which is even powered by the USB port on the TV. The TOSBlue II can be found at telme2.com. So the audio broadcasting component of the problem is essentially solved.
The problem that remains is on the revieving end. Rather than spend $$$ on a nice set of BT headphones and have them occupying space and worring about them being charged, I would like to use my android phone which already has some fairly sophisticated audio capabilities and is always with me and charged. Even with earbuds it would allow the mobility of wireless headphones. I currently have the Galaxy Note II with Jelly Bean, but think this should be doable with any fairly current android device, even a tablet or other non-phone.
So far, I have not been able to find a solution for the phone which will play BT audio broadcast from another source. An acceptable solution would accomplish this for my phone, and Android Tablet, or an iPod Touch 3g (which I also have).
Has anyone ever accomplished this? Does anyone know of an app or mod that allows this?

I just finished my house and put speakers in each room. Right now I didn't bought any kind of receiver because I'm not sure what system I should choose, so I just wired the speakers (they all go to a single place in each room).
I'm looking for a way to stream audio from my Android devices to each room/speaker. I don't want to use a single app to send audio, because most local apps (I'm located in Romania) really don't have such features (Spotify has Google Cast support, but Zonga - what we use locally - doesn't). So I need something that basically "mirrors audio" from my device; this is also great when playing games on my tablet.
Here are my conclusions so far.
Bluetooth
Is compatible with basically every OS. I can just buy a BT audio receiver for each room. The problem is that I cannot send audio from a single device to more than one receiver. So for example if I want to send audio to my kitchen and living, there's no way of doing it with bluetooth.
Miracast / DLNA
Very hard to use. There's no "simple" way of connecting/reconnecting to a Miracast / DLNA receiver without going to Settings -> Display -> etc etc each time. I don't need video, just audio. Also I cannot send audio to multiple sources.
Google Cast
Very easy to use *if* the App you're using supports Google Cast. Unfortunately most of the local apps I'm using don't support Google Cast. Also I cannot send audio to multiple sources.
AirPlay
For an Apple use this would be the best solution. Unfortunately I couldn't find any way of "mirroring" audio from an Android device to my AppleTV without rooting the device. Also I cannot send audio to multiple sources.
Media-centers
I found a lot of media-center solutions, including Qualcomm AllPlay. The decent ones allow you to send audio to multiple rooms through WiFi and specific protocols. The issue is that all these solutions are proprietary and require you to install and use a single specific/proprietary app, which is - in the best scenario - limited to playing local content from your device.
So what I really need is a solution that (in the order of importance):
1) allows me to "audio-mirror" my devices (at least the ones using Android) with ease
2) allows me to stream audio to more than one room/receiver
3) doesn't costs a fortune (I'm ready to pay $500 for this, but not more)
What's your opinion on this? Is there any solution? Thanks!
