[Q] Car aux-in not detected as headphones - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Something weird is going on here.
I have just bought an aux-in cable (ai-net to 3.5mm jack) to plug my phone (Wiko Darkmoon, MTK 6582 based) to my car stereo (JVC G511), but the phone doesn't recognize when I plug in the jack.
However, if I turn up the volume on the car, I can hear music both from the phone speaker and from the car's.
What does this mean?
I tried also with my brother's Moto G, and it correctly plays music through the headphone jack, but with a quite low volume.
Can it be something software related? My phone has 4.2, my brother's has kitkat. Or maybe something is wrong with the cable's pinout? I opened one end of the cable and I see three wires, and this should be enough from what I got to understand.
Btw, my phone works okay with normal headphones

TyTN x Sony Crossover!. Solution to the lack of audio port!

Just a bit of whining here...
The TyTN seems fine after a month of use but the headset issue is blowing my mind. I want to listen to the music and talk on the phone with some quality headsets.
First the supplied headset is a non standard USB, you cannot use your own headphones or connect to speaker inputs. Bluetooth stereo headsets are available but I believe that they are still too bulky and the technology is not yet fully developed.
You can't charge the phone while using the headset. This is just dumb, Very dumb.
Needless to say the quality of the supplied headset is not good, it is not even recognized by the phone as headset when you connect it. If you connect it to your phone while the phone is non silent, the phone still rings and not just your headset.
I have no idea why HTC is doing this, the TyTN is a relatively large device and it doesnt make sense that there are no spaces for a 2.5mm plug where you can buy all kidns of aftermarket wired headsets for it. Even the high end headset makers SHURE make headsets with the 2.5mm...
Finally I've made a move. TyTN X Sony Crossover Custom Headphones.
I've used a solder to remove the original earbuds wire and soldered a pair of cut SONY MDR-EX71SL headphones on. They sound 100 times better than the stock ones. This will ease my frustrations for now. I was tempted to solder my MDR-EX90LP on but they are $100 a pair. Too much for now
Later on I will try to rework the stock mini USB headphone and make a 2.5mm connector for it so I can use all kinds of headphones(with mic) and connect to a speaker system as I want!
EDIT: It appears that the original mini USB headset has 6 wires, 4 should be for the headphones and the remaining 2 for the mic, I can simply cut up the wire right after the mini USB port and connect the 6 wires to a standard cell phone headset 2.5mm connector then I should be able to connect the TyTN to all kinds of headsets![/img]
Arent you essentially doin this? http://www.4winmobile.com/tutorial-replace-hermes-headset-connector-with-35mm-socket-vt3146.html as seen in another post, seems like the most universal way to solve the problem.
I do like the way you built a set without a plug, cleaner..less cord and weight, but I know myself, I go through a pair of headphones about every 2 months on my mp3 player, Id hate to have to redo the soldering everytime, I expect with the headphones being such an issue for most peple that the market will be flodded in a month or so with headphones for the tytn, or atleast adapters, shoot, the one guy in the above url even offered to do it for free, as long as you bought the plug.
is there still no adaptor available to buy?
i just do this way........
can swap any earpiece....

Looks very good, even more solid than the other solution, but how do you open the unit to reach the print, is their any trick?!
Can i also use the new connection as a line-out for little active stereo boxes, or is this to tricky for TyTn/boxes?
worked like a dream i have no more crapy hissing inbetween tracks and now i can play my song thu my hi-fi that 1 to the modders and 0 to htc
Adapter usb to 3.5 jack
Go to semsons.com, they have the adapter
qing84, I have the same headphones as u=) firstly I solve this problem like you, but I smash the small "black box"=) with mic and volume control, and i was need connect my mdr-ex71 directly to TyTN without "black box"=(
I was glad that i did it, because sound became much more louder, and more clean...

Aux jack/bluetooth

I need some help I have a U-Connect in my car and a PCC-6800 Mogul Phone. Here is the problem, when the phone is plugged into the Aux Jack of the radio for the use of the MP3 on the phone. The U-connect will make the call and hang up with-in seconds. So from what I can tell, when the phone is plugged into the radio its seeing itself plugged into a headphone mic jack and will not let the Bluetooth work correctly. (I have the same problem if I am in the car using a Bluetooth headset for phone calls and the phone plugged into the Jack for MP3. In another car.) So my question is this does anyone have a reg hack to fix this problem. And or does anyone know how to or which pin I can removed in the jack if that’s possible? Thanks!!!
Well, yea. If you have a physical headset/headphone plugged in, that's obviosly where you want all your audio to go.
Here's what I'd do, not wanting to chance destroying a $400 phone. I'd get a BT receiver with a 3.5mm output that is designed to let you plug your own headphones in, and a 3.5 to 3.5 mm cable for it. I'd plug that into the radio.
I'd pair the phone to the U-connect, and then pair it to the receiver, but only select A2DP (stereo) when it asks for the profile.
For a receiver option,

People cant here me when plugged into my aux

Ok so my gf just got the GSII and she is having a problem. She uses an aux cord in her car to plug in her phone so that it goes through the speakers. When she plugs this phone in and makes a phone call, the person on the other end cannot hear her, but she can hear the other end.
Has anyone seen this before and do you have any fixes????
THANKS!

I haven't really run into this situation, but I'd guess that when a 3.5mm plug is inserted in the phone (for the aux jack) the phone "assumes" it is a wired headset - so it is outputting call audio over that cord and into the car's sound system, and looking for audio input from a mic on that line (that doesn't exist, becuase it is just a patch cord to your head unit in the car). A couple options that I see if this is the case:
a) put the call on speaker phone - this will either put call audio on your end on the phone's external speaker or the car's stereo (not sure which) and the phone will take audio input from your end via the speakerphone's mic
b) get a bluetooth headset and use that for phone calls while plugged in.

OHHH I did not think about the speakerphone thing. Thats very strange though as im pretty sure android should know better....
But yeah she has a bluetooth but isnt a big fan of using them
Thanks for the suggestions
Another option - try a car dock cable. I think this makes call audio default to speaker, but I think it can be switched to "normal" mode.

[Q] Atrix headphone jack won't accept headphones

One morning I got up and tried to plug my earphones, and I couldn't! The plug just won't come to the end! I played with screwdriver in audio jack as I thought maybe something got stuck in there, but still the same. Has anyone experienced this problem?
I have same issue with audio lead in my car, it won't fully insert and will only output through cable if I turn the cable around when inserted as much as I can.

Smartphone thinks there is always something connected to 3.5mm jack.

So on my 3 month old Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro SE is having some problems with the headphone jack. For some reason, it behaves like there are always headphones connected to it. So If I don't have anything connected and try to play a sound, no sound is coming from the speaker. If I connect headphones or a stereo to the 3.5mm jack, they output sound just fine. I downloaded a app called Soundabout which let's me force the sound through the speakers, though I have to deactivate this everytime I want to use headphones. I have cleaned my jack with compressed air, needles and cotton pads with isopropanol, but it doesn't seem to do anything. If I look into the jack it looks super clean and not very worn at all. Could there be somekind of short circuit somewhere in the phone or in the jack? I am experiencing this issue on many different roms and so it's not software related.
