hello guys, i would like to remove sony integrated xloud, normalizer and other stock sound effects, and i'm planning to use viper4android.
is there a way to do that? i mean, i'm now at .757 stock based ROM with doomkernel v15, and of course it's rooted, and UBL.
i don't plan to use any cm or custom based roms, coz i don't want to lose xperia keyboard and "small-apps" features.
thanks guys, cheers.
Delete SoundEnhancement.apk and SoundEnhancement.odex from /system/app and reboot.

done that, but all songs still sound like a bunch of hissing snakes, too much treble, typical sony equalizer.
been trying friend's z ultra with carbon rom, songs sound much much better even without viper4android installed, good mid ends/ clear vocals
i'm sure my device's speaker is not damaged.
if you guys have ipad or iphone, try listening some musics or videos on it with the built-in speakers, then compare them to ZU stock, that's my point, more natural sound.

Oh, that's the Clear Phase option. Disable it, enable xLOUD, crank the bass up and set the sound mode to studio. That's what I've done and it sounds good*. You still won't get "good" audio through the external speakers though, since the Ultra is 6mm thick. I'm very happy with the audio quality through headphones though.

Hi, so my TG01 has really poor sound quality. I mean I have W960i and there music has nice and deep bass and it's nice and loud, and here the bass is like on poor quality video on youtube.. also when I make it lauder it does a lot of clicking on the background.. I tried few player and MortPlayer gives me best sound quality, but summing it, it's still poor If a comapre it to Sonny E.
Maybe it's sound drivers or somethin ? IM TALKING ABOUT SOUND IN HEADPHONES. I'M USING WM 6.5 FFBOYS 1.0.

Yes, sound quality has never been strong side of TG01 but maybe You should consider to utilize WOWHD. It works like some kind of DSP so You should
see any difference.

The file is probably hidden; you need a File Explorer which is able to 'see' hidden / system files (the native windows explorer in Windows Mobile only shows you ones which do not have the -h (hide) attribute set).
The reference to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (often written in short as HKLM) is a 'Hive Key' in the Registry. This works just like the Registry on a desktop PC and contains all the variable settings for the system and all the applications you have installed. To access this and edit its contents you need a Registry Editor.
One option which does all in one package is the Resco File Explorer (Payware); alternatively you can search on XDA and there are various alternative offerings available with differing capabilities.
Hope that helps clarify....
Back to the original issue behind this, though and I would observe that actually the sound quality out of the TG01 is in fact very good - but you will only hear that with a high bitrate audio source and a decent set of earphones on the end to do it justice, or alternatively by output to a high quality external amplifier via quality screened cable and connectors. The stock earbuds (or similar) will never give you good quality sound. Addition of SRS or equivalent software will only modify the perceived sound, but can never overcome the limitations of such hardware. I've included the spec for my audio setup in my sig below - I'm using .wav encoded audio so it is 1:1 CD quality with no compression whatsoever - as soon as you start using compression (MP3 or similar) the audio quality will be degraded.
well ur answer does not help me. I do use resco explorer.
And how can u say quality is good ? ;d there is a lot of cliping etc quality is so poor that my casete player would give me better output. well I do have good quality headphones pionier make that reatail over pounds. my MP3 files sound awesome on my PC or Sony E. and TG01 just can not handle this level. That's why I'm loooking for anyway to fix this issue and I need this WOWHD as it might help. anyway I got it working but it gives my no audio output 0.- help.
Tried an active set of headphones or a portal headphone amp?
I did not tried amp, but I will no spend any more money for this, jsut want to manage WOWHD to work. I has it working and after editing registry entries my phone does not swich music to headphones, and when answering the phone it can only use speaker, and the micro does not work ;/ too bad help.
Well I just happened to have my headphone cable on me today at work. I have a set of noise cancelling headphones here at work and I don't seem to have a problem with 'clicking' except perhaps between songs when it actually changes track. Whilst not being loud, it sounds ok to me.
Are you using the original headphones that came with the TG01? They suck. Change them for something else and see if that improves things.
Also.. I wonder if the 'radio' version has anything to do with it?
As I said before HEADPHONES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. I USE PIONIEER HDJ1000 AND I WOULD SAY THEY ARE REALLY GOOD. I tried others as well and the best sound i get on pionieer. but it's still not good at all. Bass sounds like a cheap imitation of bass. and as someone said I could cry WOWHD as it worked for few people giving a bit better sound, so jsut want to try it, but can not get it to work, got this frustrating error @ no WOW HD driver loaded .. And i have no idea if radio version has anything to do with it, I hope you guys tell me that Thanks
You could always try another ROM that already includes WOWHD in it? (Look for the MiROM 8 + UPX compression ROM )
I know that's a bit extreme to do, but you have already flashed your phone with FFBoys.. so it shouldn't be that much of an issue. (use PIM Backup to record your contacts first!)
It could just be that the SE phone has better dedicated hardware as many of them seem to be made with music in mind.
Ok downloading new ROM. I have tried many ROM with no change on audio quality I hate Sense but just wanna try this WOWHD software and see if it's worth using, then I'll go back to old FFboy's ROM, and yes I also think that Sonny E. has better hardware as it's Walkman phone, and that's always been known as good thing.

... TG01 with 9,9 mm was for a long time the thinnest smartphone.
....thinnest smartphone= thinnest loudspeaker= poor sound
... but i love it ...
Allegedly Phantasm X3 is the music player that gives the best sound quality on windows mobile, but good luck obtaining a copy even legitmately.
As mentioned, have it might be worth while trying a different 'radio' with the rom, as if it can effect call quality, maybe it can affect sound quality as well. Which country are you in?
I'm from England and I don't really think that where I leave has anything to do with, the quality of sound. The hardware isn't too good it does not support 320 sample rate
But guys I do have sound that can be accepted, it's still not good, but there is not clicking ans stuff. I have installed miRom8 with WOWHD already intergrated.
I will stay with it, because it runs quite smoothly and many functions that are useful. AND MOST IMPORTANT SOUND IS BIT BETTER.
thanks for help
I've tested a lot of Roms and I have a couple of TG01 : Sound quality it's always the same. It's hardware related, not software.
Said this, sound quality it's average. Using device speakers is quite poor (perhaps due to the thickness, as said before) but with headphones it's not bad, even good in my opinion
And if you use a pair of good headphones and SRS HD switched ON, sound it's superb
Instead, nobody says nothing about voice record quality. Its awful, the worst record device I've never heard . Do you agree?
Hi I am new to this forum. I used Touch and Kaiser in the past.
Have been using TG01 for a few weeks and love it.
I am trying to use it as a music player via stereo bluetooth headset, using coreplayer and in mp3 or wma format. The quality of sound is awful. Then I change the music format as flac which is a lossless format and improves the quality a bit. But the human voice is like a digital nature, worse of all, still not much bass. SRS HD helps a bit on the voice, but not the bass (I have to admit my headset is not a very decent one)
Two questions:
1. I understand a quality headset will definitely improve the bass quality, does the bluetooth transmission limit the bitrate or sound frequency?
2. Any recommendation on the tweak, media player or setup?

Try a different music player, S2P is good, and you can use the music player while the screen is locked.
As i said earlier Phantasm is the best audio player available for winmo, but i have never used it.
I don't think SRS WoW HD will really help too much to be honest.
Hi guys!! I have checked that if i flash the audio beats of this post:

For video
Hi! another adjust i found we can improve the video using mx player with codec and playing in software mod, it works perfectly!
Without any unlikely stops!
you can find the player and the codec in the play store
couldn't tell at first until I loaded a song that has a wide range of bass an high notes an there is a improvement. Using my normal ear buds could barely tell the difference got my bigger headphones hooked up an ya the bass is alot clearer an deeper.
Yeaap!

I just try to flash camera libs from other places but it dosen´t work like i guess, anyone of you know a small solve for the camera?
Can't the beats audio included in the rom?
Ask paulxxx for this, he is who should add the libs, but for the continue version, the last version of it, the sound improves greatly.
For the camera we need the adreno200 libs, submit your request for this

I have a strange problem after 4.2.2 update. When I connect headphones and start playing music or audiobook or anything else via headphones or internal speaker, I hear in the background some kind of silent but constant noise, it is there in the background, always. And its stops abut 2 second after I stop the music. I'm sure it didn't happens in 4.1.1 and started immediately after 4.2.2 update. And it really worries me, because I use this phone mostly for audiobooks... Help? anybody?
I got the same on original music application . Go get poweramp it solved the problem for me

Turning off beats audio pretty much relinquishes audio hiss, otherwise you can try flashing zeroinfinity`s audio mod which apparently also woks on 4.2.2.

Same issue in poweramp.
ryanjsoo, you're right, turning beats audio off helps a little... but this is ridiculous, beats audio device with hiss in the background when turned on.
I'm on stock right now, custom rom will help?

You can try using an external dac/amp such as a fiio e6, using a custom rom may help, try flashing this mod, make a backup since i cannot guarantee that it will work with 4.2.2 however i have heard of people having success, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2231742, otherwise i cannot think of anything else except backing up your apps and contacts, wiping data and flashing stock?, also, not sure if this works but using root explorer, under the directory etc, change all the 48000 ang 48 vales to 44100 and 44.1 in asound and audio_policy to remove any resampling which may destroy quality.

Thank you. I will try to do it, because right now my night sessions with audiobooks become a nightmare. Honestly, whole 4.2.2 update is a one big mistake in my opinion. They gave me hissing sounds, lock screen lags and take away some of my favorite widgets.
Can I downgrade and install viper x based on 4.1.1 via hansontool ?
EDIT: Problem solved. I've done another factory reset, this time with format data. Was getting ready to unlock BL but when I checked audio quality, there is no hissing sound, nor popping now. And general responsiveness is also improved. I don't get this, but it works now
Yes, Max has finally released a test build (790) to replace 704 so those who like it, log in, download and test away. Read the first page for notes and assess any bugs. I have installed it but at work so no chance to use it yet.
http://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/...te-read-first-post-before-commenting/?page=20
Remember you MUST have a Poweramp forum account and log in to get the download.
I usually use Jet Audio HD but got a bug where it doesn't allow Tom Tom navigation to override audio focus for voice prompts so at present using Player Pro as my daily driver. Here We Go navigation works ok with Jet and Player Pro works fine with either so there's something funny between Tom Tom and Jet.
I hope the new Poweramp works ok, there are bugs and missing features so I will keep the others installed and assess Poweramp as Max addresses the bugs and rolls out more features.
Edit: Having a play with it at work, boss has left for the afternoon.
Whilst my work BT speaker (Jawbone Big Jambox) aux in is connected to my Axon 7 by wire and I played with output settings in Poweramp, set to use Audio Track, I get a marked difference in speaker volume output when switching between Headset HiFi Standard and Super in the phone audio settings. This is working better than before. I'm only on MP3 though so harder to assess as the files are not Hi Res but if I set the Big Jambox to max volume and the phone to max volume then switch from Standard to Super it's much louder and does sound better. That Jambox really cranks on this! It will overload the aux in and I have to set it back two notches so seems to be playing at too high a voltage for the Jambox input jack. Need to play with this some more. Will have a listen on my Backbeat Pro headphones tonight and also in the car on it's HiFi as that has a great dynamic range and quality with BT and wire.
Install it as a secondary player due to missing features. Max the dev will be adding stuff as things progress but I find it not quite fully functional enough to call a daily driver. I feel it's less bugs, more just not all features added and expect as he hears feedback will slowly add them in.
Here's my test setup. Dedicated page aside of my home screens with app shortcuts and widgets for easy comarison listening.
Got it yesterday. Sound-wise, it's solid. Audio flinger reports proper playback at the selected sample rate.
I had some issues with the volume whenever I got a notification even with "Audio ducking" and "short notification interuption" disabled. The volume drops, but never comes back up. I've seen on the PA forum that disabling "Float32" in the OpenSL HD settings (even if you're using Hi-Res output) fixes it. Haven't tested this yet, though. Will do it when I've got my IEMs with me.
Other than that and the obvious UI bugs, it's a good step forward, despite taking 2 years to do it.
Interestingly, the actual volume control behavior was fine on my phone. I have issues with Jet Audio though. It doesn't mesh with Tom Tom navigation app voice prompts. Got fed up with that despite the rest of it working well and great sound and have been using Player Pro for a while. It behaves reliably and now adjusted, sounds great too. Both Jet and Player Pro sound better than Poweramp for me. I have PP set as default player and is on auto start up.
I emailed Jet Audio and Tom Tom about my issue. Tom Tom have been in contact. Nothing at all from Jet. I'll probably end up uninstalling Jet.
I tested this briefly, to say it's a beta preview is an over exaggeration. It's an alpha and is way more alpha than 704. I use Poweramp near everyday and love it but I tried testing 790 but there is so much missing functionality it is just no good for a daily driver. Shame both couldn't exist on the same device, I wouldn't mind testing it then!
TBF I thought that max would have been further on with its development after the time it has taken. I know he is working on this by himself so kudos to the guy but it is so unfinished, for me, it's back to stable 704. I will try again in May with the next test build.
Sent from my ZTE A2017 using Tapatalk
Yeah, so much functionality missing, I still have it installed but it just doesn't sound as good as Jet or Player Pro for me so the point of having it at all is questionable. Max took so long to get this far with it that others have risen to the top instead.
It reminded me of Neutron a little. You have to really fiddle with it to get good sound. With Player Pro the settings are simpler but just what I need and the good sound is there. Pity the skins are ugly.
With Poweramp, I don't like the wavebar and no skip buttons. The widget wasn't fully functional etc, just not enough I liked in it for a 2 year wait. Will uninstall. See how it goes once worked on further.
Just from curiosity I had a listen with VLC. I have it for video. On wired output it's not great but did sound very nice on my backbeat pro 2 headhones over bluetooth. Not a good audio player though.
After a few days with Poweramp and finally making the jump from Nougat to Oreo, I'll have to agree. It's more alpha than the previous alpha. I lost the Hi Res option after installing AEX 5.4. Quite disappointing but it's expected. To me, anyways.
I'll keep an eye on development but I'll be using UAPP for now. Simple UI, Hi Res works great and it sounds awesome. Hopefully Max is able to refine and polish PA in less time it took him to make it.
I had another play with it last night, found that just need to route everything through HD off the QC SoC. I mostly use bluetooth these days so 24 bit off the SD820 is fine. I could lose the DAC finally and not really worry but not ready to give up the 3.5 jack though..... Sometimes it's handy.
I had 2 Poweramp widgets on an extra homescreen and couldn't remove them. Had to uninstall the app to get rid of them. Too much broken functionality but with polish I think it will be good overall.
Edit: I'd like to know how the AKG DAC is implemented in this phone. It's almost as if it routes through the DAC if using HD and Super is enabled so it may not matter what the music thinks as long as it uses hi res?
The more I use new Poweramp the better I like it. Makes me want the missing functions implemented. Definitely not giving up on Poweramp.

I didn't get anything of what you said here, but i'll tell you what i know:
-poweramp won't output hi-res in Oreo, and it will happily tell you that it is - hence, you have to use dumpsys media.audio_flinger as always
-What do you gain by routing everyrthig through the low power DAC? (Again, ZTE said it's a DAC inside the AK4961, not SD820). I wonder if that DAC actually works with 24-bit, but at least it is specced that way.
-What do you mean by the last paragraph? The DAC will output whatever kind of sound you input it, it won't "only" play hi-res.
Btw it's AKM, AKG is a headphone manufacturer
Other thing: Disable hi-res output. Use the normal OpenSL output. That way it'll sound just like good olde Poweramp
If I go back to OpenSL it sounds markedly inferior.
I keep mixing up AKG and AKM lol.
What I meant was if I have the phone set to output on Super setting and the music app is using Hi Res it does seem to sound louder and better in general, as if the phone just puts it through the AKM DAC anyway, despite the app thinking it's using the SD820. With Poweramp 790 alpha the phone will still overload the input on my car hifi when at full volume so it seems it's using the DAC, not the SoC.

As in the output setting is completely gone after jumping to Oreo. I did get the Hi Res on 704 to work when I was on 7.1.2 using either the samsung uhqa cheat or lenovo hifi cheat. It wasn't true hi res, but there were differences when I swapped between the sample rates. So it still "worked" in a way.
790's hi res worked on 7.1.2 but it looked like it was detecting the qualcomm DAC and not the AKM. I might have to resend the hi res request in the Poweramp forum.

Do you have volume issues with other players? Because ever since I installed Oreo 8.1, the volume's dropped quite significantly across the whole phone. UAPP and Poweramp play at really low volume now. Could be an Oreo thing or an Ainur thing. I'm not sure.

Nope, that's most definitely an Ainur thing. If you installed Poweramp beta, be sure to disable OpenSL ES HD output (supposedly hi-res) because that will lower the volume quite a lot.
Also install the B32+B10 bootloader if possible. That one seems to have fixes for audio.
In stock Nougat it's fine. I turned volume to max and switched between. The volume steps are different but max is fine. I found it sounded better with Float32 switched on.

No way, the first and only time I tried USB Player Pro it literally killed my SD Card (I don't understand how)
I've been trawling Google Play and revisiting music apps. It seems Onkyo HF Player has had a bit of a revamp. It's getting quite good now. It has widget and notification functions etc. Still no auto start though. One thing I like is it shows the output in now playing. With my backbeat pro 2 cans in wired mode and turned off the app is playing a 44.1KHz MP3 and upsampling to output at 48K. If I go into phone sound settings and turn on Dolby Atmos then go to the headphone setting and switch between standard and super there's no difference. If I turn off Atmos and switch from standard to super it gets louder and soundstage expands. Interesting....
It still has that great user configurable parametric EQ too
Playing a hi res WAV or FLAC also shows on screen. I assume the Axon 7 won't output above 48K though? I suspect this is running off the SD820.
So if it plays above 192K what does it signify? Nothing?
Or the DAC?
Hey all! Just bought the 7.1 from B&H for $349 to replace my Moto g5 plus which is full of issues. One thing I will miss is being able to install V4A (Viper equalizer). I can tune the settings and make my Bluetooth to car connection sound a hell of a lot better than actually changing the settings on the head unit. Was wondering if there was a stock (or built in) EQ for the Nokia 7.1 that I can use to tune Spotify, YouTube, etc. or if I'll have to download a crappy EQ app off of the play store. Is there a built in EQ, or even better, a way to install V4A on this phone without TWRP? Thanks!

There is a way to change the Bluetooth codec in the dev menue, not the same as an EQ but wouldn't you want the signal to transfer as true as possible and use your speaker source EQ?

Yeah I got the phone, saw the stuff in the devs. To answer everyone's question, there is a built in EQ, but you have to open Spotify to use it (not sure if GPM or Pandora work). It's not terrible, but certainly not as good as V4A. And to respond to your question, I don't think the signal transfer is really touched with an EQ. The EQ adds bass and lets me adjust my mids to the way I like them. Like I said, my head unit is garbage. The EQ practically does nothing to improve bass or mids. At first I thought it was the speakers but it isn't. Thats why I wanted a built in EQ on my phone, until I get a new head unit at least.
