Hi everybody.
I just acquiered a note 2 (SCH-i605). And I found that it has been already rooted. I can use non verizon sim whith it. But i dont know if the bootloader is unlocked. I did some researsh but cant find out if there is a relationship between unlocked bootloader and the possibility of using another operator sim. The recovery is stock.
So i want to use "No You Verizon" program from AdamOutler thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272066
There are my questions:
- If the bootloader was already unlocked, will using the "No You Verizon" brick the device or cause any problem?
-The current android version on the device is 4.1.1 . After jailbreak, root, recovery with "No You Verizon" can i directly flash any custom rom (like AOKP kitkat or an AOSP 4.2 custom rom ....) without any workaround?
-If i do so (flashing a custom rom), will bootloader still unlocked?
Ps: My understanding is that to be able to unlock the bootloader i should stick to version 4.1.1 up to 4.2 .... of stock touchwise firmware. If i flash the stock 4.3 i wont be able to unlock the bootloader. im i right?
Thank you and sorry for my english.
I find my answers
Well, i think i find my answers. Maybe it will help someone else.
1- If i flash 4.3 OTA i will have a locked bootloader (forever or use safestrap)
2- To jailbreak, according to the version of my firmware i will use the corresponding Casual program from Adams casual thread
3- After jailbreaking, rooting, installing custom recovery i can flash any custom rom (directly in recovery, not with odin)
4- Depending on the custom rom i will need to update the firmware
Usefull threads are in Verizon Galaxy Note II Android Development section.

1) the bootloader unlock allowed :no?
i have managed to root but i wanted to in stall custom roms.
2) if i cannot unlock does that mean i cannot install zips or install a custom recovery?
3) is there anyway to sim unlock the phone to all networks

thank you for your help
2) Of course you can but just ROMs and Mods for locked Bootloaders. The thing you can't do is for example flashing a custom kernel to install KitKat, Jelly Bean or other Android Version above 4.0
3)yes there is own. Ask your provider for that. He can give you proper informations. But as far as I know it's pretty expensive to unlock the SIM Lock. Telekom in Germany wants 100€ for that..

2) yeah I managed to root and custom recovery. Apparently I'm not allowed to unlock my boot loader so I'm stuck on 6.1.1.B.1.54 :/
Is there a list of ICS locked boot loader ROMs?

1- Have phone replaced by Sony, not all countries' service centers are willing to do so and you must generally have it SIM unlocked first
I need some help here, We (the wife and me) bought two s4's New a year ago and both was MDK, I Rooted and loaded a custom Rom, All was good until a few months ago when I wanted to put a Newer Rom on my phone, I started flashing this Rom and that Rom and then I had this problem! I had loaded a Rom or ????? that Locked my Bootloader and Now I'm unable to Flash Rom's
I'm really a Noob at this I only root my own phones and Need help here So I don't do it again to my wifes phone which Needs to be updated, it's on 4.2.2 MDK She has a New s5 and I'm taking her phone.
(1) Please tell me what I need to know to NOT Lock the Bootloader ???
(2) What is the Newest Debloated Stock vzw Rom Need Wifi Hotspot ??
(3) Steps for Flashing, I want to be sure I'm doing it right......
Thank You for your Help in Advance
Are you sure her s5 is mdk bootloader? The mdk bootloader was on the first released s4.
Essentially once you have a custom rom and and u locked bootloader, never take a verizon ota update. That usually patches known exploits to your phones bootloader and locks it down. What was the last rom you flashed that locked your bootloader?
Also, did you have a custom recovery installed? Can you get back to your custom recovery? If so, you're bootloader is not locked. You will have to wipe your phone clean and flash a new rom.
I will be working on her older phone, the s4 with the MDK bootloader and Now has become mine, Her new phone is the s5 and it's happily Rooted with S-S and a custom Rom.
New to the whole rooting process, want to flash custom roms but don't know how to unlock bootloader (if it isn't already unlocked, I've read that most samsungs have it pre-unlocked but have also read that it is locked on 4.3 and is problematic when trying to unlock)
Search first, there are hundreds of identical questions.
The i9300 doesn't have a locked bootloader, unless it is a Chinese firmware.
..I was already told by a friend in xda group that if I again flash a stock rom in my sm-900p phone which I got unlocked for international GSM use (using from India) , it won't get locked again ...with all due respect to the friend who affirmed me already that it won't get locked ,can anyone else confirm that to me please ? I am not able to dare to flash the stock rom....since two days I am just waiting to take that step..presently I am using darkwolf rom but I want to flash with stock rom so that bootloader and modem gets updated and then on that version,I will flash this rom again ..that's my plan
It will not relock for international use. If it does for some reason, you can use Galaxy Tools to unlock again, assuming you root. But if it was originally unlocked either officially with Sprint or via root + Galaxy Tools, then it won't relock. If you were in the US, you would have to change some other settings to re-enable domestic unlock but international sticks.
Hi!
I've got a Xperia Miro (ST23i) which has Android 4.0.4 official firmware, 11.0.A.5.5. I now want to upgrade it to 4.1, mainly because of an app which I use now demands 4.1.
The phone is rooted but bootloader is locked. When checking the bootloader if it can be unlocked it says "No".
So my question is, can I upgrade it? Is there any stable 4.1 that I can install even though bootloader is locked?
I know there are roms based on stock kernel which can be installed and I assume those would work on a phone with unocked bootloader. But would it show as a 4.1 phone and the app I mentioned would work or would it be just the same as with the stock 4.0.4?
Thanks
This can't be a difficult question
Anyone knows and want to share their wisdom?
Edit:
Got my answer in another thread. Apparently it's not possible. Have to unlock bootloader for that.
