[Q] Condensation on my camera lens, how to remove it? - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I put my phone into a cold water last Saturday and when I took it out,it was fine but after 30 mins,I noticed there were condensation on my both fornt and back camera but it disappeared after 20 mins. After another 2 hours, the thing came back so I put it inside a pack of rice for 1 day 16 hours and it didn't disappear so I put it under hairdryer and the condensation disappear for a while then reappear, anyone have any solution?
Thanks

open all the hatches when you dry it and put it in the rice heap. it is more difficult for the water to get out for a sealed device

Open the USB and simcard cap, turn on a fan and face it to the simcard slot, better take out Sim card and sdcard.if the condensation come back again, repeat and do the same thing, until it totally disappear.

[Q] water damage?

Good morning everyone. This morning was not a good morning for me, as I was feeding and watering my dog my phone slipped out of my jacket pocket and dropped into the dogs water bowl. It was in the water for less than a second, initially everything seemed fine there was barely any water behind the battery cover so I dried all that out and shook the phone to make sure there was no water in it's ports. Then shortly after that its USB port started going wonky(started acting like I was connecting USB cable and disconnecting it over and over), and my touch buttons at bottom of screen seem to stop working which makes doing anything damn near impossible. The USB plug seems to work as I've got it plugged up and its charging fine, but now my PC says USB unrecognized device. What I want to know is will these things work themselves out, is there something I can do to help them, or am I screwed?
Thanks for helping.

It is more then likely ruined. When ever a phone gets wet you should immediately remove the battery and put the phone In A large bag of rice for 3 days. No less then 72 hours and you have a very good shot at being OK. For phones that have been completely submerged and are water logged I would do 3 days of rice and then a quick dip In rubbing alcohol and then another day of rice. The alcohol prevents corrosion on the electrical solder connections. I hope you have insurance. You can try the rice now but since you supplied voltage to a wet circuit the damage is done. O and when I say a quick dip in alcohol I mean remove the screen and only dip the circuit board.

Thanks for the reply, but I think I got lucky. My USB port has stopped acting up and I was actually able to see contents of my phone thru the pc. Also my buttons are working fine again maybe there was a slight bit of water crossing circuits and it finally dried up.
The best way to dry it up, if it ever happens again is to use uncooked rice. Put the phone (with the cover open and the everything pull out) in the container with the rice covering it. Depending on how wet it got, it might take a few days ( 2 - 4) for it to completely dried up.

Arent you also supposed to put it in the sun, so it heats up and evaporates the water from inside the phone and then the rice absorbs it... or is that old news and overkill?

The sun only dry the outside part of the device. There will be moisure inside device (sometime) that will stay for a while. In order to get rid of the moisure from the inside of the device (if it is excessive water got in) is to use the rice.
In this case it might be excessive and overkill (since the device still works). But then I have mentioned that if next time. Sorry that I didn't indicated that if the device won't come on after sun drying, then use this method...

I think you misunderstood him... he's not saying put the phone in the sun, he's saying put the bowl of rice with the phone in it in the sun. That supplies heat which facilitates the process of water evaporating. I wouldn't leave it in direct sunlight though, just in a warm place near a window maybe.
mine dropped in toilet
2 days in rice with small bag of desiccant inside of phone(take battery out)
desiccant will dry out faster
I'd use some Lysol after that one

When mine fell in a cup of water, I put it in a bowl of rice, and then put the bowl over a scentsy warmer. The small light bulb in the warmer gently heated the bowl, without getting it too hot.

I just had my phone "waterproofed" by a company last week, just in case. A friend of mine demonstrated the effectiveness on his iphone 4 and I instantly wanted to have it too as I use my phone as a GPS unit on my motorcycle. I live only a few minutes away and walked in to have it done. I can't attest to their shipping: http://www.liquipel.com/

A few phones ago I tried the rice rescue method, but after a couple of days the rice caked up around the device and was a bother to try to chip away. Later, someone pointed out that I should not have cooked the rice.
I dropped plenty of phones in different liquids.

Best of luck.
My experience with my wife Sony Arc. My wife got it in the washing machine. Went through the full cycle! and my wife tries to dry it together with the cloths under the sun!
It still wont start after sunning(is that the word?) and called me finally.
I took the phone to a friend shop( cant really claim warranty here, the phone was only 6 month old) and open up. The batt got charge up, the mother board cleaned with tissue and blow dry. It started up no problem but water is still in between the lcd screen. The touch screen was not working on the middle part.
So took it back home, put some uncooked rice in a Tupperware and leave the phone inside without the batt for a week. After that the water in the lcd is gone and the touch screen work fine. Nothing was lose(no reset, software fine) except warranty(no problem there,it was rooted, custom rom).
My wife is still using it now
Or put it into medical alcohol (like 75%+) for a night.

Which can be really expensive,at least in Germany, because of the tax.Don't know if it is just for alcohol you might be able to drink as well or for all sorts of alcohol.
I don't know why,but I dreamt several times that I drowned my XPERIA.
I think it will be a hassle to get it dry because of the battery...

Power button and no SIM card

I was at the beach today and the phone was in my swimming trunks upside down, was going in the water a bit and I think the top lil corner of phone got wet, now the power button does nothing and it has no signal, no it thinks there is no sim card in it and doesn't even try scan for network. Is there any fix?
Did you check for water damage?
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
I don't see any water damage.
phone off, take battery out. leave back cover off. toss that ***** in a bag of rice and leave it there for 48 hours. after 48 hours take it out of the bag and blow dry that muddafukka for a good 20 minutes. replace everything, if it doesnt work, pray to god and order a new phone.
Did you check the water damage indicator? Beneath battery

I checked the sticker, it's still white, its been in rice for 10 hours now, still don't work. I got warranty still but need to wait a week. Can't find my old G1 for temp use either =(
i do believe i said 48 hours not 10 hours. youve probably shorted it out by now. oh well sorry to hear OP =(

Galaxy S3 Water damage

One day it rained heavy, and i forgot i had my s3 in my pocket and when i put it out, it wall all wet, it seemed to work fine for a moment, but a day after there was no sound coming from it and battery charginh was very slow. I put it in rice for a week but with no sucess.
So the phone works fine but:
- charges very slow
- sound does not work
- random turning off
is there anything to do other than replacing the motherboard?
Thank you in advance for your help.
hah, that happened to me also. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929215
I just got back from samsung, they replaced the mobo using the warranty (before that i unrooted and installed the stock rom). Everything is working fine.
Put it into a tub with dried uncooked rice init. Put the lid on aswell and leave for 24 hours and most, if not all the moister should be gone from the device.
Please note not to ever use a hairdrier on the device to dry it as it will push the moisture deeper inside the device which could make things worse.

You don't need to replace the mobo. Maybe just replace the speaker and the charging connectors. Check out CNN.cn for replacement parts. GL...

did they really repaired water damage in warraty? did that "paper" behind the battery turned red/purple in your phone? I have put it in uncooked rice but it only works smoother now, before it was laggy.
Yeah, as soon as I fully washed my phone (accidently) I took some rice, put on fire (to reduce the already accumulated humidity) + salt. Then left my phone for 3 days.
My phone wasn`t charging and my pc didn`t recognize the driver. Nothing. The USB got damaged.
Nothing helped then i took to Samsung, after 2 days they called me saying my mobo needed a replacement but they didnt know what happened. So the warranty covered my shi** lol
I didn`t notice if that paper became blurred or not. I don`t think so xD
If the phone was switched on that's when the damage occurs, you want it switched off asap after any water damage, or the water will short the circuits and cause damage which rice will not solve.
If it was switched off in time rice will dry it out.

wait for 2 more days and keep in rice...after that also bright spots appear, nothing to do...if warranty is there get replaced the screen...
warranty already void coz of water damage and also unlocked bootloader......anyways waiting....
Also try some Damp rid desiccant it should get all of the moisture out faster than rice. If your willing to disassemble it carefully swab everything with some denatured alcohol and allow it to dry more

You cabn always try replacing the screen assembly. It's not that hard and also not very expensive if you do it yourself...
display its not damaged yet....so y replace it/.
just 1-2 very small bright spots appearing...
so i mentioned in ques is it safe to resume use of device or i shud let it dry some more time
