I don't know if this has been asked before, is radio.img the same as modem? I'm having signal issues with my htc m8 ,I tested all of the radios I could find here but i can only get one LTE bar, and was wondering if a modem could help increase my signal ,my m8 is converted to gpe edition.

Hey guys, I've had my Note for a while now and always came here for any questions (all of them previously have been answered until now)
I have CWM on my phone with the stock ROM and a different kernel on it.
While in an AT&T store the other day, one of the workers was explaining how to flash a att radio over.. So far, I have found no radios for it. He was telling me about an att radio that you could flash over (a modem radio) that would give you constant 4g LTE with att. I tend to have constant 4G HSPA+ but would love to test it on LTE speeds.
My question is, does anyone have a link to downloading the radio.
And does anyone have a link or quick explanation on how to flash the radio over?
He lied dude. You have to have lte in your area. If you don't, then it doesn't matter which modem you have. Gotta love how these guys have no clue how to do their own job(no offense to any reps that know how to do their job).

Hello All,
I recently installed a Rom from the international htc one forums and I am encountering the problem where my data is constantly switching between G, 2G, and 4G. I tried installing the t-mobile radio but it still does not fix this issue. Any help to fix this problem would be appreciated, thanks!.

Where did you buy your phone? From HTC directly or at a T-Mo/T-Mo affiliate? When flashing a ROM, make sure it's compatible with the T-Mobile HTC One. I would try flashing one with confirmed support. If you have an M7 directly from HTC, you will NOT be able to receive HSPA+ 42mbs through the 1700 (AWS) band. However, you can still get HSPA+ 21mbs through the 1900 band if you are in a refarmed area.

My Phone is from T mobile. I live in a re-framed area but it seems the radio for the M7 from HTC was put on my phone or that's what I am guessing.

Your phone would be able to receive the signal as long as it supports the band. Perhaps you just have spotty coverage? Try flashing another RAM or stock to see if it switches on you.

I tried flashing a bunch of different roms and stock ones too. None of them worked to fix the problem. My reception isn't the problem as before I installed Android Revolution I had constant 4g everywhere I went with at least 4-5 bars. I also flashed the t mobile radio found on these forums too but that didn't work either.

I'm confused, are you saying you tried a bunch of ROMs and none of them worked well besides ARHD?

I flashed other roms to see if it was just ARHD that was affected by the data problem. Anything I flashed after ARHD would have the same problems

did you get this solved? i am having a similar issue. when i first turn on my phone, i can get 4g/hspa. but it drops after a couple of mins. i dont even get edge. works everytime i reboot the phone or go from airplane mode on to off. i noticed the problem after rooting my tmobile htc one and flashing a ROM.
Is it better just to stick with approved ROM for Tmo? There are not many to go around.
I learn if it is 4g, 3g, wifi, etc it is kernel and just find a Tmo kernel.
Cook ROM and Kernel are different.
I am still learning.
Can someone please enlighten me? Is the band compatibility issues on the HTC One GPE a hardware limitation or software limitation?
Reason I ask is that I would like to do a full GPE conversion on my HTC One that I got from T-mobile. If I do this would I still be able to connect to the same towers and have the same signal on HSPA+ specifically? Or would I have to (and be able to) flash a T-mobile radio? Or would I just be screwed?

I'm not sure, but I have a tmo one running Android Revolution Google Edition ROM and flashed a tmo radio and get great reception mLTE and HSPA +

I have the gpe 4.3 radio on my T-Mobile htc one and I'm getting better lte reception than the T-Mobile radio.
I'm running the arhd 4.2.2 Rom.

The Roms you install shouldn't prevent you from connecting to the HSPA network. The HTC One GPE has a physical (radio) limitation that prevents it from connecting to the HSPA because its lacking one of the radios for the frequency TMobile uses for that standard.
If you have a TMobile phone and make it be a GPE via ROM flash, you shouldn't have issues.

Thanks I wasn't quite sure what the limitation was. I couldn't fully convert to GPE like I wanted since I can't get s-off but I'm running ARHD 4.3 with the GPE radio and yep I'm getting even better signal. Thanks guys

What about the Dev Edition working with flashed radio
This may be a n00b question, but I have an opportunity on a sweet deal for a Developer Edition One, and am considering T-Mo for the service. I understand it lacks the HPSA+ 1700 radio, but is that a physical limitation, or can you flash the necessary firmware on top? According to T-Mo, my area of Atlanta is serviced by LTE, so it wouldn't be an issue at home, but I don't know what would happen when I step out of the coverage zone.
Any tips or advice?

It's a physical issue, it does not have a radio that supports T-Mo's frequencies, as much as I'd like one, I can't give up LTE

This post has answered one question of mine being whether the hspa issue was a hardware issue or not. Hkwver I have a normal T-Mobile one that I converted to fully stock gpe with stock boot loader and recovery and ever since making the switch in certain areas I lose LTE briefly cinect to hspa and end up on 3g. Before the switch in these same areas I would never lose LTE connection or suffer speed loss. Since the switch though there are a lot of areas that I cannot connect to anything but 3g. So if this is a hardware limitation the GPE RUU shouldn't effect this manner or is there something in the RUU preventing access to this radio seeing as it was written with knowledge of the hardware it was being placed on not having the proper hardware? Is there anything I can do to restore functionality of hspa while keeping Google play edition on my HTC one ?

I don't have an answer to your question, but I'm trying to figure one thing out - you were able to do a full GPE conversion (including RUU and changing the model ID) to a T-Mobile One and didn't brick it?

no it did not brick the device if fully functional receives ota updates and the questions I had in the OP I've answered. The device gets hspa+ 42 as well as LTE so the issue must be a hardware limitation of the gpe that u can actually purchase. In fact it is a at t model which is why it suffers the lack of HEPA connectivity. However if j flash a T-Mobile over to GPE RUU it will have HEPA+ connectivity. Also mid and Cid do not need to be changed in order to get ota updates. The OP has been edited since this was discovered all u need to do is flash the ruu and you'll have a fully official gpe HTC one with ota.

DO NOT INSTALL A SENSATION RADIO ON YOUR AMAZE, OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE!!!
Your phone will brick if you install a Sensation radio, so don't do it!
If you want to flash a radio that badly, use a T-Mobile one. T-Mobile has the latest up-to-date radio. Make sure it's a Ruby/Amaze radio.
If you are getting bad signal, it's because of your carrier. The radio actually plays little involvement here. A radio isn't going to fix your bad signal.
Your carrier is responsible for bad signal in your area, Egypt is a developing country at the moment. Obviously there isn't going to be 3G/HSPA+/4G everywhere.

So according to your words my phone will be 3G not 2G ( GSM) when i make the setting of my carrier correct
I bough my m8 unlocked from eBay when they were selling them at $300. Ever since I got it, it has had an issue connecting calls. It either takes too ling to connect the call or altogether drops it. If I connect the call, I will sometimes not hear the other person and vice versa.
I have tried SkyDragon ROM but the issue still persists. Anyone with an idea on this?
Thanks

If the problem persists on the stock ROM (as well as GPE), you might have a radio that isn't fully compatible with your local carrier.
Do you know what HSPA (3G) and LTE bands (if applicable) your carrier uses?
Also, you might shut off LTE and see if that helps (not possible on stock AT&T ROM).
Am thinking I just S-Off and flash GPE to see if the problem persists. I am on a GSM carrier, have owned several At&t devices before with no problem at all. Switched off 4G LTE and problem still persists. could the problem be hardware?

Sure, a hardware fault is "possible". But you can't attribute it as "possible" without some more research or troubleshooting.
The fact "several AT&T devices" work on your network is slightly irrelevant. Every device has its own set of specs and band compatibilities. You should verify that your network's bands are supported by this particular device (AT&T version), first of all.
You should also consider if the seller will honor any return or exchange before you s-off the phone (such mods which would almost certainly void any return policy by the seller). But if you are not eligible or interested in returning the device, then yes, trying different ROMs or radios reasonable troubleshooting steps.
