[Q] How to play the free Xperia Lounge movies? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I redeemed the coupon for the 6 movies, downloaded them, but when I try to play them I can't. If I go to movies they don't show up anywhere on the home page, folders, or my videos. If I go directly to the files in the download folder they won't play with anything "unsupported file" . The downloaded files are less than 1mb in size. Any ideas?

The four I downloaded range from 1 to 1.6 GB.... how did you download them?

You have to play them in the app you downloaded. The movie files aren't the usual .mp4/.avi stuff, they are made to be played by the movie app and they are made up of several files. Sometimes the movies don't even play. It's not really worth it.

They do play with MX ...

Ok I figured it out. I had to install the Video Unlimited app from the play store. Once I did that the videos showed up and I was able to download them properly. Thank you guys for the help.

Mx video player works with sd card and for streaming videos from your network. You need to add sdcard2 as one of the sources in settings. Hope it helps

You can try ES file explorer and tapping on the LAN tab. Then add the server you're trying to play the files from and you can then tap on a file to play and choose to open with moboplayer.
I am using MOBO player. It's working great. Free and easy to configure.

BS player has hardware acceleration and works great on Tablet S. I think it supports SD-cards, but not sure. The .srt subtitles work great though. It also has a function that searches subs for you online. No more searching!

I use a similar setup as you. For my file manager I use HD file explorer for honeycomb and set up my network through the lan connection. Then I play the videos through MX player and music through Mobo. Some videos play better than others depending on the format but for the most part it works well. What I like about HD file manager is you can access everything from your network drive and it easy to setup. I just wish there was a way to create a play list for music files from my NAS without transferring files to my SD card. Any ideas on this?
Try CineXplayer I have had any issues also locates files for u when opening so no need to manually find files. No ads full screen no stuttering videos. Good quality picks up where you leave off in videos if stopped while viewing when opened back up.
Yes mobo player is pretty sweet, free and clean looking a must download if u wanna watch movies n things.
MX player does both (SD card, SRT titles) flawlessly. So impressed I bought the ful version.
no stop in mxplayer?
How can you stop video from playing in Mxvideo?
I do not see any stop button?

just tap the screen and there should appear reverse, pause and forward. just press pause´. There is no actual stop button.
u can change that in the settings actually I believe (i.e. always show controls). Can't imagine why its necessary, you want full screen video normally don't you?
Strange. So when I start a 3 hour video and notice after 5 mins that I have seen it...I need to look it to the end as I can not stop it. I need to try mobo....
Piar The vídeo A nd sub in the folder in self and rename The archive The same name grates

New Google Play Movie Force Close

Just got pushed the new Market Movie app. Took one of the $.05 offers, launched the new Google Movie player and get a Force Close error immediately. Uninstalled the player, re-installed. No joy.
Works fine on my Bionic !
Thoughts?
Thanks
Same here, bought a movie to watch on the plane but every time I try to mark it for offline viewing I get force close. Seems ok on mt gnex though

I haven't tried renting yet but when I try to play a video from my personal collection it says video cannot be played after about 3seconds of the video, I think that is an issue with the sony video player as that is what is used to launch it. Have u guys tried installing the stock Android video app, maybe that will work?
Google movies can only be played in the 'PLAY MOVIE' google app.

So when you click play it doesn't try and launch the video in the Sony Video player? It is strange that when you go to play a video from that app that is on the internal storage that it tries to launch a different app then if it has the video playing capabilities built in.
I haven't rented a Google movie yet to test that aspect myself, I was just commenting on the app not being able to launch internally stored video properly.
Correct. Google movies play within the Play Movie player only.
good to know
Good info to have. I have yet to rent a movie, but good to know ahead of time how to play it.
Its the google player that keeps force closing

Pics & Videos on TV

Hi all, Im able to wirelessly show my photos from my phone to my Sony Bravia tv, but it wont play my MP4 videos. The funny thing is, if I put my MP4 videos to a flash drive and plug the flash drive to the tv, it will play them. Is there another app that would stream my videos to the television?
What app are you using now? There are tons of apps in the market for this, iMediaShare is one of them.

Play Store and Sony Movies doesn't recognize handset as HD device?

I couldn't find anything around this, but may have missed it. When I was on the Google Play Store and on Sony Movies, when you click on an HD movie it doesn't recognize the Ultra as an HD device. Is this because the handset is to new? Or did I miss something in settings?

Yes,you can do that. Actually i do that everytime. I can say i use zu1 mainly for wtching movies.
You must have a good movie player installed. The default movieplayer is good but i prefer mxplayer. If you have transfered succesfully the movie in your phone, mxplayer can easily catch it whenever you put it.
can i ask what zu1 is please?
Get a microsd card and create a folder "movies", copy your movie files into there, then install a decent movie player like dice or bsplayer and open the file. The stock movie app only support a few filetypes.

I feel like OP (Original Poster. That's you Sut1576) is fairly fresh towards stuff like this, so something tells me he'll need an even simpler explanation.
- Yes, you can download movies from the internet, but that's also illigal and not allowed to discuss on XDA, so you'll have to find another place to ask about this.
- You can also rip (copy) your own movies to your computer and transfer them to your Ultra (legal as long as it's for personal use).
- The Ultra will natively play back the most common formats (.mp4, .mkv, .avi), and the stock player is very good, but if a movie won't play, then do as Zaxharu and SpyderTracks have said and install a third party video player from the Play Store (I personally prefer MX Player)
So just plug your Ultra to your computer, make a new folder called "Movies" or something and drag-and-drop the files into the folder, and that's it.
