Hi guys, I've recently bought a Cubot x6 and I'm having trouble adding a new APN, it will not save when I change the MNC from 33 to 30, but will allow me to change and save all other APN settings. I've seen this problem solved elsewhere with the use of app's, but to my knowledge APN settings cannot be altered by apps in the latest android version (im running 4.2.2).
Thanks for any help!
bump.. can anyone tell me where in the root directory i might find the settings for locking/unlocking APN settings?

Hey all,
Firstly sorry if this has been answered before but I cannot seem to find the answer in language that I can understand. I don't think I am a complete noob but I haven't been playing with rom's/kernels for very long.
I am on the Australian network optus and my mms doesn't work.
My rom is codec rom and my kernel is CF-Root 4.0 (the tar I flashed was 'CF-Root-SGS2_XW_OJV_KF1-v4.0-CWM4.tar'). Is it the kernel version that has the settings effecting mms/cell settings or is it somewhere else?
When looking at custom roms and kernels (I've tried to understand http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278) I see there are heaps of codes (XXKH3, XXKE1 or XXKE2) but not all have a country listed.
Any help explaining this is appreciated - I want to learn what I can!
Thanks
APN MMS etc are set either manually or the normal method is that the CSC in the firmware gives the phone the network settings .Providing the CSC covers that country/network .
kernel plays no part .
KE 1 is K year 2011 E month 5 May 1 is build one .

ah I see. Thanks a lot mate! One more thing, can I find the right CSC and flash that without any firmware? That way I can not worry about what CSC is in a custom ROM..
Yes should be in the stock roms post.

cheers mate!
APN or ROM problem?
Hi All,
I have a similar problem being not able to send SMS/MMS but able to receive. No issues with internet or apps that require 3G data.
I'm having a rooted phone running on:
Baseband - I9100XXKI4
Kernel - 2.6.35.7 [email protected]
Build - Sensation ROM 1.9
Now I have flashed my phone several times before, trying out different ROMs so I'm not sure which flashjob or what caused this problem. I use SMS sporadically so I didn't detect this early cos I'm pratically hooked on Whatsapp.
I'm from Singapore and using service from Singtel. At first I thought it's an APN issue but even after calling up Singtel to get the correct settings, it still doesn't work. Scouring Google for fixes, the results are still the same. Each time I tried to send, say a simple "Test" SMS to someone or to myself even, it just fails. Same goes to sending MMSes.
Anyone who has the same problem and has a fix, please help me. Greatly appreciated.

im sry but where do i check this Message Centre number in S2? Are you referring to MMSC, MMS proxy, MMS port, MCC or MNC?
For clarification's sake, these are the values I have in my phone respectively.
MMSC: h.t.t.p.://mms.singtel.com:10021/mmsc (pardon the context here as im not allowed to post outside links yet or whatever the error this forum is throwing me)
MMS proxy: 165.21.42.84
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 525
MNC: 01
Which one is wrong?
jj is referring to:
Messaging app / menu / settings / message centre
Check with your carrier that the number + xxxxxxxxx is correct

Hi all,
Really pleased with my Linx Commtiva N700, yes I know it's not a Iconia, but it's a good intro to Android and tablets.
My question is that I have got a 3 sim so that I can use for the data when not within range of a wifi hotspot, but try as I might, I can't get the APN settings right. I've tried a few combinations manually, and I've tried an APN app from the market, but still no joy.
Anyone give me a few pointers?
Cheers
Rob
Hi,
Im with vodafone and all I need to put is this:
Name(not required-can be anything):vodafone
AP:live.vodafone.com
rest standard...and all worked for me.good luck
update:
but I would imagine it can be different for your network...
another example O2 uk:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267297
For 3 network I just have:
name: 3 UK
APN: three.co.uk
Maybe you can't use internet with this sim because it doesn't have internet package?
What rom are you running ? You might have to add an apns.xml to your framework-res.apk to get proper apn lists.
Hi folks,
Thanks for your replies:
zbig0 - I agree, just need the specific entries relevant to 3 uk.
jaredj - I've tried your suggestion to no avail and I defintely have the internet sim package.
Amalgation - sorry, I don't know what that means! I have no done anything to the stock ROM that came loaded. Can you explain to me in more simple terms?
Cheers
Rob
In simple terms:
Decompile framework-res.apk
Replace apns.xml with a filled one (cm maintains a pretty complete list)
Recompile framework-res.apk
Replace stock file with edited one.
Not so easy if you don't know how. Upload the stock file and attach to a post and I will create one for you to test with

I have some additional settings in the section for mobile internet, I just ommited them thinking that these are not important. SO you may add those in your settings and let's see if this will work:
MMSC: http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc
MMS Proxy: mms.three.co.uk
MMS Port: 8799
MCC: 234
MNC: 20
APN Type: defaul,supl,mms
APN Protocol: IPv4
That is all I have here. The rest not set.
Guys,
Thanks for all your help with this.
I've sussed it (finally) having tried an old T mobile, a new 3 and a new giffgaff sim without success.
I carried out a factory reset on the device and all three worked perfectly straight away.
Admittedly it took me the next 3 hours to restore all my settings, but at least it's working properly at last - actually it's running faster as well.
Cheers
Rob
hello fellow xda'ers! i have been searching but coming up empty...
looking for where in the rom stores mms settings in samsung and lg android...
for ex. htc has it in framework-res.apk (res/xml/apns.xml)
that file is there in samsung and lg too, but file is blank. also in /system/etc/apns-conf.xml, but i believe there is more to it than that.
any help would be appreciated. thank you
Hello everybody, Now i need to change phone's model and other information which can find in the build.prop.
But the most important point, all the change need reboot;i want to find a way without reboot? do anybody have this problem?
If you know something, please tell me . thanks.
Hi,
I cannot add a third user, after I added the second one, the add option was greyed out...
How can I solve this? Rooting would help?
Thanks and regards.
I already solved it: I rooted the device and then edited the build.prop file by adding the line:
fw.max_users=9
in order to increase up to 9 the maximum number of users.
