i recently updated to jellybean the samsung galaxy s2 and im having issues with bluetooth, wifi and volume buttons. both the wifi and bluetooth do not turn on and volume buttons dont work at all... i tried to find a way to flash it again and install either stock or custom rom but as the volume buttons dont work i cant boot in recovery or download mode. i cant use kies to update either as its having the latest update already...any experienced or experiencing same? help will be greatly appreciated ..thx
If after switching off the phone, you are not able to put it in recovery/download mode because of volume buttons then your volume buttons(hardware part) are gone. Updating the ROM to JB could have affected the volume buttons but that should not stop them from working after it is powered down.

So whenever i let a new ROM settle, the volume down button appears to malfunction and not work...i reboot and even turn the volume on and off in the settings but the volume down rocker doesn't work at all. Any insight on to why this happens?
i've got the same problem, but i don't know how to solve it -.-
any help guys...is it just a hardware issue? i already reflashed 2.1 firmware
I now updated to 2.3.3 stock rom (rooted with xrecovery and fps uncap) and the volume down button still doesnt work
I would also like to know (or be sure) if the button itself doesnt work (hardware problem) or if its something about a software issue, as i updated my phone and it still doesnt work i think its a hardware problem, but i dont know...
recently soft bricked my new AT&T S2.I have clockwork recovery installed (4.0.0.2), and the only buttons that work are home (goes back to the first menu), volume up/down, and power to hide the menus. I can't select anything at all, it seems like I have the international version of the recovery, not one for the S2.Anyways, I can't get into download mode by holding down the home + Vol up+ power, and Odin can't seem to connect to my phone if it's in clockwork recovery and not download mode.Would the jig work? Or is having no ability to boot into download mode pretty much a killer? I can access my phone through ADB, I just don't know my way around adb as well as I would like.Is there any way to flash a different recovery via ADB? Any other solutions to get my phone up and running again? Because right now it's not booting at all.
EDIT: Managed to get back into the system. It's running the International ROM instead of mine though, so the buttons are wonky. Does anyone know where I can find the ODIN files to flash back to stock AT&T S2?

First off, that's not how you get into download mode. Turn the phone off, hold both VOLUME BUTTONS ONLY, and plug in the USB cable.
With my phone, If I hold down both volume buttons and power on, it goes to clockwork recovery. If I turn the phone on holding the volume up and the home button, it goes to download (now).
I fixed that issue already though, the problem at hand is that I have the i9100 boot and firmware on here, and need the stock Odin files to fix. Can't find the files though. : /

...me too....
WOW DISREGARD - too stupid to realize soft buttons work with CWM recovery. They didn't before...very premature post, my apologies
For the bootloop, I selected Advanced in CWM recovery, and then selected "Fix permissions" then I installed update from SD card. Now it works! Back to being a noob and hating my life.
-----------
I seem to have bricked my phone too...I was using ROM manager to install cm9 update (yeah, I NOW know I should not have used ROM manager). I used ODIN to re-flash cwm recovery enabled kernel. I can go to recovery, but it does not let me select any of the menu options. And when I boot the phone, it still sends me into a bootloop.
One time it did say "signature verification failed" but it doesn't say that anymore, it just doesn't move. I've read around about signature verification issues, but I haven't found anything that gets me anywhere.
I know this is pretty noobish, but I really appreciate any help!

Button combinations for i9100 are different to get into download and recovery, afaik. Search i9100 forums for proper button combinations, or install an i777 ROM on your i777. On i777 Vol+/Vol-/power is for recovery, not download mode.

You probably flashed I9100 secondary bootloader with one of the firmwares you flashed. That would have changed the button combination. You can try the following: Remove battery and leave it out. Hold down one or both of the volume buttons while plugging in the usb cable which is already attached to your windows pc. If this successfully boots the phone into download mode then you need to flash the I777 secondary bootloader, or the full stock firmware which includes the secondary bootloader using Odin. The files are available in the Download Repository. See the link in my signature.
If the above does not work, then you probably need to buy, borrow or build a USB jig, which will boot the phone into download mode, so that you can flash as above.

I assume you mean it would not go into download mode with the battery out? I wasn't sure if that would work.
You can try to change key mapping if you know what you are doing (I don't), but really just a couple of dollars for a usb jig should boot the phone to download mode. Seems to me that is the easiest and most straight forward way to proceed.
I have a problem. My volume up was not working very well for a while but it worked if you pressed it hard enough so I didn't go on about fixing it, because I was controlling volume within the settings. The problem got worse all the time and now it isn't working at all. And on top of that now my phone can't boot probably cause of some bad zip I was flashing while trying some mods for my rom (I am using Omega v51), and the phone stays on the omega droid walking screen and doesn't boot. Usually this would not be a problem because I would boot into recovery and reflash the rom, or wipe davlik and cache or fix permissions or whatever. But now with the volume up not working I can't go into recovery. I can't go into download mode either, to flash rom via odin, because, despite volume down button works ok, when you go into download mode you still have to press volume up to "continue".
Any other way to get into recovery or download mode without the use of volume rockers?
I even try with adb commands but they don't seem to work when the rom is booting...
PS. I don't think it's a problem of the volume rocker, rather it's a problem of the volume switch on the cable, because i removed the back panel and removed the volume button, and pressed the switch manually and it doesn't work either. I can order another cable from e-bay but it will take a while to arrive and in the meantime, I am stuck without a phone, so any help on getting in the recovery or download mode is appreciated.

Thanks for the answer. I thought of that but I don't have one and if i order one from e-bay it will take a while to arrive also. I am hoping for a solution that doesn't involve waiting that long
Just un update. Finally i got into download mode and stayed in the screen where you need to press volume up to go into download mode, removed the volume up button and pressed the up switch with a screwdriver hoping that at least one time it will be pressed and go into download mode and finally i was able to do that. So i reflashed the rom via odin and it booted into the rom. now volume up still not working, but at least I have a working phone until the parts from e-bay arrive to replace the faulty button and/or switch
Thanks for the help.

I'm facing the same problem now. Thank you
Alright, so if I turn on my S3, it shows the Samsung logo, then freezes at the "Samsung galaxy S3" Other logo. I've tried to put it into recovery mode and I can't move anything with the volume buttons, I know the volume Up button works but it isn't moving anything. i also tried putting it into download mode but the down volume button doesn't work. Any solutions? Or is it impossible to fix? Thanks in advance for the replies.
You can boot into download mode by USB-jig (very cheap, google for it), get your 'newest' firmware from sammobile.com, flash it with Odin and pray, that system & buttons work afterwards.
Seems like a borked volume rocker..
