I am getting very frustrated with the NC and Wallpapers. No matter what I try I can not get photos to display correctly on the home screen. I have tried many different options and no matter what I try the only thing that works is when I reset the device to factory defaults and not root it. I have tried Zeam and I have tried Launcher Pro ... I have tried everything that people have sugested to try and still the result is a zoomed in picture that is formated incorectly on my home screen.
Is there any solution to this ?? I have tried setting the wallpeper in both portrait and landscape mode and get the same result. I have also tried Wallpaper set and save to no avail. I can't believe this is happening to everyone and there is no solution for it.
Please help !!
My NC is currently Fully rooted with full adm and shell support. I can install apk's just fine and widgets. I have Zeam and Launcher Pro installed. This all started when I installed a laucher, so I know it is a problem with launchers but you need a launcher on the NC to do anything good :O )
THanks!
Not the simplest way, but I have found that if I convert the image I want for a wallpaper to .png and put it in the "my files/pictures" directory, it lets you set the image as a "wallpaper" like the other default wallpapers. you will want to resize the image - maybe 1280x1024. Some of the other default wallpapers have an image size of 840x1024.
The nook appears to NOT resize / zoom in on the .png files the way it does on .jpgs.

Have you folks tried dropping the files into the device memory/wallpaper file?
Mine seem to work fine if I drop the there, but if I try to make a photo into a wallpaper, the zooming games being.

I am not sure I understand what you are doing ... what do you mean drop the file into the device memory/wallpaper file ?
Thanks
Just apply your wallpapers to the nook home screen in landscape position. Sometimes you have to [email protected] the first pic then it gives you a landscape version. This will apply the wp across the other launchers as well. It does with zeam anyway.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
nvm didnt work, looks like it has something to do with the original size of the wallpaper you are looking to apply.

For some reason, the conventional set wallpaper option is buggy. I uninstalled Launcher Pro as this seemed to create more issues, and now use Zeam.
Here is the method I have found to work:
Open up gallery to view your wallpapers/pictures
Select a picture/wallpaper
Turn the Nook to landscape and tap the picture until wallpaper options appear on the bottom. Select the wallpaper icon
Touch and drag a corner to expand the rectangle to the entire frame
Turn the nook to verticle position (normal)
Save
Discard (picture may show again)
Exit out to your home. It should look normal.
I've been using the MultiPicture Live Wallpaper app. It's a little buggy (at least for me), but it will use a full picture as a wallpaper.
You'll need to have Live Wallpapers enabled to use it.
i'm having the same problem, it all got started after i installed adw launcher. after uninstalling i can't get it back to normal. the wallpaper is zooomed in and i don't really know how to fix it

You're welcome. The key here is when you drag the corner to select the part of the picture. If you can't select the entire frame, it thinks you are cropping, and blows everything up. This is the only way I found where you can select the entire frame.
Can any one tell me what the best resolution is for downloading nook wallpapers so that they don't look back across 3 screens?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but in most launchers, there is an option to scroll (or not) the wallpaper. De-select that option and the wallpaper won't move when you scroll across screens. For instance, in Zeam, it is under preferences>workspace>scroll wallpaper
No wallpaper or "continue read" button issues here.
I've used photos, stock NC backgrounds, etc. Seems fine to me.
Continue read works great as well.
FWIW: Rooted with Nooter, using ZEAM launcher and Softkeys 2.0
I've had success the last few days using Dolphin HD to download my wallpapers from Google Images... Looks great!
For ADW (and possible any other launcher with multiple screens) i find that using a 1200x1024 png image placed in the my files\wallpaper directory then applied using the Nook default selector and using the image from the "Wallpaper" tab and not the "Photo Gallery" tab works best.
There is no stretching or pixelation, and the image fills all five screens of ADW.
Respect to all you out there who know what you're doing (I sure don't), but the "fixes" in this particular thread seem to be band-aids to the actual problem. I'm computer savvy enough to believe that launcher pro did something to the coding as far as screen size. I've noticed that when I use the B&N Home launcher, the screen scrolls further left and right than it did previously (before installing launcher pro). Also, when using stock backgrounds, there are black bars on both sides of the home screen (left when scrolled left, and right when scrolled right).
Does anyone know how this can be actually fixed, without doing the "set wallpaper in landscape mode?" There's got to be some way to return the screen resolution/size back to the way it was before launcher pro changed whatever it changed.
I suppose factory reset/re-root is one option, but I was hoping there might be another way.

This method is the proper way to get wallpapers to display, see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883948. If you are cropping or turning your nook landscape to set wallpaper, you are not seeing the wallpaper at the correct resolution.
For those too lazy to click links, here is my fix from another thread. 100% perfect wallpapers on ADW's 5 screen setup.
To get an perfect wallpaper using 5 screens, like in ADW:
- Get an image that is at least 1200x1024
- Crop (dont scale) it to 1200x1024. A really easily way to do this is open the file in Photoshop, copy the entire image, then create a new file that's exactly 1200x1024. Then just paste the image and use the arrow to drag it around to whatever looks best to you.
- Save the file as a .png
- Get it on to your nook. (SD card transfer, email and download, whatever)
- Open Wallpaper Set & Save
- Point it towards the folder you have your wallpapers in
- Select the wallpaper you want
- Hit apply
Bam. Perfect wallpaper, no stretching, no compression. Looks great! I'll post screens later today if I remember
I used a 1920x1200 wallpaper I had on my PC, cropped it, emailed it to myself, then used Set & Save to place my wallpaper. It's really crisp.

Is there any way to change the wallpaper on my out-of-the-box gTablet? I can press the classic home screen and get to the wallpapers/widgets etc but can only see the stock images for wallpaper selection.
I do not have Gallery on this tablet but do have new photos on the gTab (Picasa and downloaded) that I would like to use.
Anyone know where does the stock wallpaper (non animated) photos live on the gTab? Thank you!
first off out of box rom kinda sucks, but if you like go with it .
to change wallpaper on most roms is just pressing and holding down on the current background till a window pops up. there you will see a wallpaper option. gl
You might want to check out dodal Wallpaper Maker (AD), available from the Android Market. This app allows you to create wallpaper from your own images. Works fine for me on the gTablet.
Gary,
the out of the box ROM does not have the Android Market. I would use the suggestion from numberattic or install a custom ROM to get to the market.
Wallpaper help. Thanks!
Hi --
Thanks to each of you for responding. I wish I had time or interest in rooting this thing and changing out the ROM etc. I had expected something a little more professional. I prefer the Classic Home UI and am not happy that out of the box, I get 4 or 5 cheesy wallpapers (either live or static) and no access to Market etc. Prob the average user of this thing will not experience or care about this, but . . . it's worth to me to shell out a few more dollars and not have to hack anything to get it to where it should have been in the first place when I bought it.
Judy Wilson
Yes, I can and did do what numberattic suggested as is standard with Android but on the gTablet this only allows access to the pre-installed wallpapers and provides no add'l functionality at all. Trying to get images I have loaded in "Photos" to work as wallpaper is also apparently not possible with any combination of mashing, pressing, tapping etc etc etc.

Hey everyone - having a slight problem with my all-time favourite wallpaper (which I brought along from my Symbian device) in combination with GO Launcher Ex.
Whenever I try to choose it as my homescreen wallpaper it gets zoomed in and very pixelated - TouchWiz doesn't have that problem.
Unfortunately Google & site search weren't able to provide a satisfactory solution ..so, anyone have an idea how to get it working?

Try to get that pic in 480 x 800 resolution, it will fit perfectly for portrait mode wallpaper.

Cheers mate, seems to have worked!
Blew the pic up to 480*852 first and then cropped 52 pixels from the top (only black anyways).
Resolution still seems to be fine enough.
Guess another possibility would have been to make a new all black 480*800 image and copy mine into the centre of that ..
Mmh. Will try that aswell.

Crap. Just installed the newest version of GO Launcher and back to zoomed wallpapers we are - regardless of size. Only way to fix it is to switch back to TouchWiz and then back to GO Launcher again - which sucks.
!%#'"§!
What if you use Wallpaper Set and Save or Wallpaper Plus? They come out very sharp when I use apps like these.
I have noticed this bug as well. I can get it resolved by going back to the default launcher temporarily, set the wallpaper there, then relaunch Go Launcher, and it seems to be correct. It only happens to portait pics where there is no background scroll though.
Could it not be due to the wallpaper being in scan mode (as you go through the 7 screens the background image moves along)? Because in my HD2 (in SD Android) would select a square-ish area from the centre of the image I wanted as a wallpaper. When I changed it to the same image for all screens, then the selection of the image was in the same shape as the screen.

Are those Apps? Haven't heard of them before and might give it a shot - however there's probably also a certain increase in battery use associated with that method, something I'm not sure I'm prepared to accept.

Yup, exactly the same here. If only it weren't for the GO Launcher Calendar widget, I'd try another launcher or stick with stock TouchWiz ..

Meh..

The problem seems to be known but possibly not recognized as a problem by the GO Dev team:
After the research, it seems the wrong of Android system. Because the API we use to get wallpaper of system give us the zoom wallpaper.

Also, another possible solution seems to be https://market.android.com/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture - however, Live Wallpaper = more juice required.
Same here happened. I just switch to TW luncher and back to GO luncher
Actually, installing the latest update of the GO Calendar widget seems to have fixed the problem.
When I installed it the wallpaper first bugged out again but when re-setting it, it worked fine without switching to TouchWiz. Perhaps that'll work for someone else, too.

Had same problem, stopped using stock gallery to select wallpaper, and started using qpix to select wallpaper, and it works fine for me now. Seems problem for me was the stock gallery app I was using to select the wallpaper.
Currently having the same issue and neither TW or GoLauncher is playing nicely with me.

I am having a problem I am using GO Launcher Ex and my backgrounds appear to be zoomed in a little bit even though when I'm setting the wallpaper it is fully zoomed out with the orange box. It has only recently happened because it never did that before and it happens no matter what wallpaper I set.
Android 2.3.6 CheckROM GT-i9100
Anyone have any answers?
Thanks.

Just an update: I found that switching back to twlauncher fixed the problem with the wallpaper! Switched back to Go Launcher Ex and it stayed fixed. Weird.
In case that doesn't work
Hey I found that my background would not scroll if I swapped to the tw launcher and then back, and it seems that its the default wallpaper selector. I use wallpaper wizardii and choose the scroll option when setting wallpaper and it works great.
Hey guys,
I've been giving a GSM RAZR a thorough going-over this past week for an upcoming review, and in doing so have found a few interesting hidden features. Thought I'd start a thread about 'em, since I haven't seen anything mentioned here (Or elsewhere).
- First up, installing an alternate launcher automatically sets the new launcher as the default. Odd that Moto would do this. Also odd is that the long-press home task switcher/app drawer is specifically part of the Blur Home, so you get whatever task switcher your new home app feels like defaulting you to (Usually Android's standard one).
- You can still create shortcuts to the Blur Home's app drawer and app drawer groupings in alternative launchers (Long press on empty home space/add shortcut/app groups), so you can - for example - use Launcher Pro or ADW with the Moto app drawer by placing a shortcut to 'All Apps' in the dock.
- The above shortcut business also applies to stock Blur Home, letting you use the app drawer groups like folders. That's not really 'hidden', though.
Next up, we're going to need to install Launcher Pro. I'm not a huge Launcher Pro fan, since its development seems to have dried up, but this works regardless of whether Launcher Pro is your default launcher or not. As above, however, installing a new launcher will automatically set said new launcher as the default, and short of uninstalling it or installing a third launcher/a home switcher app, you cannot set Blur Home as the default again.
You can get around that by placing a shortcut to the Blur Home itself on the Launcher Pro desktop. It'll also pop up in 'recent apps' once you have Launcher Pro installed. Strange.
Anyway, the reason we want Launcher Pro installed is that it gives you many more options when placing shortcuts on the desktop of any launcher. Under shortcuts (Or in Blur Home's case, Shortcuts/App Actions/) is a new category called Activities. This lets you place a shortcut to any part of an app that can be called as a separate activity. Effectively, you can place a shortcut directly to one part of another app - although, be warned, some of these turn out to be shortcuts to 'Force Close', or 'Reboot the phone' because the OS doesn't expect these apps to be opened in this manner. Some are genuinely useful, however, and some are a little more interesting..
Of note:
- You can create a shortcut directly to Universal Inbox, rather than having to tap Messaging, then Universal Inbox. Yay!
- You can get directly to the Albums view of the crappy stock music player, or the Folders view of the gallery, avoiding those awful splash screens you get when launching either of these normally.
- You can get directly to different views in the calendar, like the Diary/Agenda view.
Now, it gets really interesting. Some of the app activities you can make shortcuts to aren't accessible through the apps themselves, the very definition of 'hidden'. Some of these are obviously hidden because Moto cheaped out on the firmware and bundled things like an FM Radio app into the stock Music player, which doesn't work because the RAZR doesn't have an FM Radio to the best of my knowledge (Even if it did, the app doesn't do much beyond demand you insert headphones and endlessly scan for channels).
- There's a debugging tool for the homescreen, which has settings for things like 'orientation changes', acceleration factor, and 3D widgets. None of these seem to work, unfortunately.
- The most interesting - profiles for the homescreen. If memory serves, a few previous Moto phones had this, and it has of course been an element of Sense for some time. You can choose from Home, Work, and Other, and they do work - widget layouts will be saved. It tends to force close when switching back to one layout from another, and occasionally changes the wallpaper to the Droid 3 stock with the three lines (Funnily enough, that wallpaper isn't in the wallpaper gallery for the GSM RAZR) but it does work.
I'll chuck some screenshots up shortly, and additional features as I find 'em.
So when i used to set wallpapers it would ask me which app to use for cropping but I think by mistake I pressed always on an app.
Now whenever I'm changing wallpaper, it jumps to the croping process which is a big zoomed rectangle.
I tried setting all apps to default because I really need the type of cropping which displays 3 rectangles in which you can move around the wallpaper.
So I tried resseting everything, disabling google+ but yet it won't prompt me with the option to choose which app to use for cropping.
I'm running android 5.1 on a sony c3
