Hey guys.
My question is if I can go back to ICS. Actually I on JB 4.1.1 but I can't get OTA.So I'm thinking to go back to ICS to restore my nandbackup.. Is there a way to do it?
I was googling but couldn't find something for this device...Also I don't want to brick the phone
Any suggestions..
I'm still S-ON and my HBOOT is HBOOT-1.25.0002.
Getting back to ICS
Thnx
I think theres two ways to do it.
1.Downgrade hboot (I do not recommended this..)
2.Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213663

Hey guys im running CleanRom ICS and my phone headjack dosen't work. I have to send it in to VZW and receive a new device.
Is there a tutorial or how can I completely revert to stock kernel, recovery, and stock GB?
I know there is an RUU for it but I am not sure if that will work.
If anyone could explain or if there is a tutorial to point me in the right direction for a novice, that would be great!
Thanks

The only way to do that from my understanding is RUU. That is what SBFing was to the droid. I do know that to RUU , you need to relock your phone. Did you back up the stock rom or the stock rooted rom ?
Either way, just go back to HTCDev and they explain how to relock your phone.
Download the RUU, after phone is locked I think you just have to plug in the phone to charge only and run the RUU exe. Must have HTC drivers installed obviously and possibly working adb , but since your rooted and running custom roms you probably are.
Once the RUU, is done you should be back to stock , unrooted !
so if i relock my phone it will automatically revert me back to GB?
No. But you need to relock it in order to run the RUU which will get you back to stock.

it shouldn't, i dont know much about it, there's an article i believe in the general section, but its like another language to me lol.
but if its any help ive been switching back and forth between ics and gb roms without any problems.
---------- Post added at 10:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:13 PM ----------
btw, here is a flashable RUU
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365654
so basically i should
-Relock phone
- put zip on SD http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365654
-run the vigor RUU
-factory reset
and i should be good?
if i figure this out maybe ill make a tutorial

as far as i know, before locking the bootloader,
you might want to flash back to gb rom i think.

yeah...You need to be back to a GB kernel for sure. I thought the RUU is basically a ROM but not really sure how that works.

If the 3.15 RUU only updates you hboot only you can find the fix here
Don't run the JB RUU it is known to cause problems. Relock your phone and take the OTA. It is the safest way.

I locked the phone and did the ota, but whe ir rebooted it it got stuck in the first menu where you can chose recovery and fastboot. I removed the custom recovery and relocked the phone. I downloaded the update again and this time it got stuck in recovery. Do you have any idea how ro get this update to install?
I got it to take the OTA update. I had to remove the custom recovery, lock the phone and install the stock RUU for the version I was on. Now I just need to get s-off and I'm good.
Thanks for all the help.
Where is Stock Recovery?

Yes, there are 3 ways
1. Softwate/OTA update from HTC (Officially)
2. S-OFF your Desire X and use a modified P66IMG.zip to manually flash hboot update.
3. Use an RUU for Hboot update (if available)
Regards
Yasir
As far as i know option two (S-OFF) isn't possible for Desire X as of yet, and option three (a JB RUU) hasen't been released.
So we're just left with option one. Do i miss something?

You can only update hboot via OTA update, and for that, you need stock Rom, like it was before rooting, and stock recovery. Then you'll get the hboot update to 1.24 and then 1.25 hopefully.

s-off involves high risk of bricking the device thats why devs stay from it and its very hard to attain s-off as it requires lot of hardware knowledge.. leavin aside some fancy mods, we can still do alot of development without s-off
S-OFF
ohok didnt realise it was that hard to do also when a device is bricked due to this does that mean using a JTAG recovery thing, (I saw one of the guys in the elegancia rom post meantion this) would not recover a bricked phone ?

jtag should allways be able to recover any bricked device (thats kinda point of using it)
oohk just got the idea that it didnt always work although the JTAG thing I was looking at did several things like S-OFF supercid etc

You're not stupid, just not reading much.
Yes, you need a stock ROM with everything intact (not even a single file is missing).

@ckpv5.
I recently tried an experiment. My bro Huawei phone got ota but as he had modified system apps, the ota failed. His ota also had firmware and hboot update (89mb)
I opened the ota zip, in updater script removed all assert checks, and then flashed ota, and it completed, even his firmware and hboot got updated. Have we ever tried fooling HTC stock recovery ?

It was not working for One X ... so I believe the same for DX ... the write protection thingy.
I have ICS hboot with TWRP for ICS in my Desire X. Whenever I try to install any JB ROM it doesn't boot up, just shows a black screen. What should I do? If you are saying me to S-OFF, I already tried to do that(with RUMRUNNER) but it betrayed me finally saying to try with a new kernel or a new ROM. Why there is so much complication? I just want to install a JB ROM. Can anyone help me with this? Will be thankful

Need help to install custom rom for hboot 1.15
hi fellas, bit same problem here, i followed the exact procedures in installing the custom rom (ViMiRo ROM v3.0-1) on my HTC DX running on android 4.1.1 and hboot 1.15 by following DX threads. the recovery i flashed is CWM official mod for ICS. after showing successful installation of rom and rebooting, the phone shows the ViMiRo lock screen, but when tried unlocking, it stops at HTC logo and doesn't open further. Pls guide me to resolve this.
